I almost didn't get to stay, even though I had pre-paid on hotels.com, because the hotel required a $250 damage deposit before I could check in. This was very stressful because I was on a time schedule for the event I was attending, I was out of country (in Canada), and I had to go online and conduct bank transfers in order to get the funds available […] on a single credit card. But, once I overcame that issue, the hotel was beautiful. Still, this is getting very tiresome. I don't like that I have to pay more (even temporarily) when I prepay for my room. Especially not knowing how much more (perhaps you should disclose the damage deposit?) until arrival! Read more

This is a great hotel! Very nice and clean. It has a Bistro for breakfast and dinner and a Restaurant for dinner. Both are excellent places to eat and the staff is fantastic. It is about an hour and a half ride from the airport but for the money and the convenience and how cheap they are this hotel is a definite must for anyone who would like to stay at a very nice, clean place for a great price. The hotel is very good for the money. I found the service to be very good. I had the breakfast and it was very good. I would stay here again, the hotel is next to the sky train that's a big plus. It takes 40 minutes to reach downtown Vancouver.

The hotel is about 35 minutes from downtown Vancouver in the Surrey area. It is the terminus for the Skytrain and a fun way to get an overview of the city. The train also takes you right to the waterfront if you'd like to visit the park, shops, art and market at Granville Island without worrying about parking. This hotel is in an area that is being redeveloped. In fact, starting late 2012 this hotel may be replaced with high rise condos. From the outside this hotel, built in the 1970s, doesn't look like a winner, but inside the updated rooms (flat screen TVs and updated furniture) are comfortable and clean. Bar and liquor store are attached to building, but with separate entrances in the back. workout room and pool are small and limited in size, but clean and underused. Location is a mixed bag - area is a block from a nice city park and a newer mall and right next to the sky train (takes you to DT Vancouver), but the area is not yet fully cleaned up...make sure to lock your car! The hotel is superbly located right next to the King George Sky Train station (36 mins to downtown Vancouver). It is also within an easy walk of a shopping centre and various places to buy groceries and snacks. The room had one of the most comfortable beds I have had on a business trip. The plasma tv was a nice touch too. There is a little fridge and microwave in the room which is handy also. The hotel room was clean and had a refrigerator and a coffee machine. The first night all went well, but on the second evening I returned to my room at 10:00 pm and found that the bed had not been made and the room not cleaned. I was tired and went to bed anyway, but the next day I told the front desk staff what happened. They said I had not requested […] the room to be cleaned, so they didn't do it. If I want the room cleaned I must request it on a day-to-day basis. There is a plastic door hanger that requests the room to be cleaned and I had not hung it on the outside of the door. For the price of the hotel room I assumed the room would be cleaned without requesting it. Also, I think the staff should state their policy at check-in, then I think their policy would be fair. This hotel was great! It is located at the very end of the King George Sky Train line so it takes a while to get in to the city of Vancouver (maybe 35 minutes?) but the train station itself is just across the parking lot from the hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful and accomodating. Will definately stay again.

We needed a hotel in Surrey and had a limited budget. The Compass Point actually exceeded what we expected for that price range and we had no complaints. Emergency vehicles passing at King George highway in front might bother those with light sleep - pick a room in the back.

Close by Skytrain station. Close to Center Mall King George Road is main thoroughfare, so you can hear the traffic in front rooms Wireless Internet bandwidth limited, good for email, bad for any other more complex pages.

Good hotel if you're staying on business. Restaurants in hotel were good, and there are other less expensive places to eat nearby. Highway access isn't too far away, and the Skytrain station is close by, but noise is not a problem.
