Overall the hotel condition is very poor. Carpets were dirty, air conditioned units were very noisy.I requested a wake-up call for 6.15 and I was called at 6:45. I almost missed my flight.

Well the fire alarm went off at around 12:30AM for about 10 minutes after which it was shut off. However, there was no staff to be found. Let me start off with the good things. The staff was very friendly... Now on to the bad stuff. After checking in we went to our room and as we opened the door were slapped in the face with a smell of bleach which was immediately meant I could not stay there as my son who is 2 was with me. Then I noticed the room which to my surprise was much more compact […] than the pictures I had previewed. Went to the front desk who had just told the woman in front of me there was no way they could change rooms as they were completely booked. As I approached and explained my situation they immediately switched me. New room more closely appeared as the one in the pictures. My son had to run around in the room and took off his shoes. Within 2 minutes he tried to get on the bed and we saw his feet they were nearly completely black. Truly disgusting. The vent in our bathroom seemed to be adjoined to a smoking room because the first night our bathroom smelled of cigarettes. The staff seemed nice enough and the linens were fine. The front desk was very friendly. The room was spartan and the maintenance was minimal. Bed and bathroom were very clean. We had a room in the main building but I looked in the rooms out back (unoccupied ones-- I'm not peeping) and they were much nicer. Very basic accommodations (at least in the front building) and the street is a bit noisy but overall much better than I expected. The free ride to the cruise port in the morning was well organized and efficient. Would stay here again for a pre-cruise place to crash. I have stayed in MUCH worse places (I'm looking at you so-called Best Western Waukegan IL. and the Hotel Mario San Juan PR (Long out of business). Read more

Hotel is on 36th close to MIA with a shuttle bus to the terminal. Older motel style complex common to Florida. Room was comfortable enough for a one night stay between flights. Also close to airline flight simulator centers, and decent enough to stay in for a couple of weeks for training session. Chose this hotel due to their free 24-hour shuttle to/from airport. What they fail to tell you is that this is once an hour, on the hour. When landing in Miami we were lucky enough to catch the shuttle just before it left. The driver was horrible and I feel lucky to have made it safely to the hotel. Once there, the place was run down and very dated. […] Our room was small and dated, but clean. Since the shuttle was only once and hour, we had to leave the hotel very early for the flight. Also, they tout on thier website about their onsite cafe (coffee in room was horrible), but they dont open until 6:30, so if you have an early flight (or have to leave early due to their shuttle) you miss out. Overall, might stay again if just for the convenience, since it was clean. Oh, and no elevator, so hopefully you are strong enough to carry your bags up the stairs. No offer of help from the staff. We needed a hotel close to the airport to fly out after our cruise. We have stayed at other hotels the same distance and they were wonderful. This one was terrible. The hotel was dirty. In the morning when we walked into the bathroom there was the hugest cockroach known as palmetto bugs In Florida crawling in the sink. The rooms are above the bar and […] the cigarette smoke was sickening coming down the hall. the band or DJ played all night long so the base vibrated the floor, sleep was impossible till after 2am. The staff were exceptionally helpful at check in. Very nice, polite. We asked for and received a ground floor room. The room was clean, and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. However, the bathroom sink didn't drain very well, and the TV didn't work at all. The front desk sent someone to look at it, but they couldn't fix it. It was good that it was only for one night. Needs improvements very fast, in particular the room. It has a pool; I didn't use it. The location is convenient to the airport; not much more otherwise. I wouldn't go back. I have been to other Days Inn of two or three stars but much better.

The only excellent thing is its proximity to the airport. Though it is the cheapest hotel around the airport, it shows that it is cheap. Old, run down, no breakfast included, no long-distance phone lines (you need to purchase a calling card).
