The room was clean, comfortable and large, but the hotel seems more than neglected. The driveway and parking lot were riddled with horrible and huge pot holes. I can say that with certainty because there were no cars to be seen. After stopping my car in front of what I assumed to the the front entrance of the hotel, it was dark and looked abandoned […] (and this was in daylight!). I decide to try the front doors never expecting them to be open, but they were. I half-joking asked the hotel clerk if I were the only one staying there. She assured me that I was not and said that - although the hotel could stand a facelift, the rooms are relatively new and are clean. And they were. The hotel itself though is dark, dingy and in need or repairs. My major concern was that I did not see any entry doors of the hotel secured after hours. There is a decent breakfast buffet offered, but despite the Hotels.Com description there was no restaurant and bar/lounge, which was the specific reason I booked this hotel despite it's lower rating. (I did not use the pool or fitness room, so can not comment on those amenities.) Read more

This Hotel was odd. Just a weird setup. Like it was special back in the 40's and has not been changed since then. Was just there for one night and it did the job, but I would not have picked this hotel if it was not the secret Expedia pick for 50% off.

Our stay was pleasant. Although we would stay there again, nothing with our hotel experience would make it our first choice. The value for the rate was "OK" but I've stayed at other nicer local hotels in the area for less. Perhaps the area had higher occupancy rates on this particular weekend.

I have had a short stay, arriving at 4 pm departing 10 am next day. My main purpose of this trip was to celebrate the 90th birthday of a respected professor. We stayed over for one night, and the experience is ok overall. There is free hot breakfast even though it says there is none on the website. The room is conforfy enough to sleep. The overall maintanence is a little under par, carpets are somewhat dirty and hallways and exterior needs some updates.

At 2:30 a.m. on my last night I attempted to open the safe in order to better expedite my leave in the morning, only to find out I was getting an error code. When I called the Front Desk the first response was a lecture on how to open the safe. After telling […] her I travel extensively and always use the same code,she proceeds to tell me that she has never had that happen before and maybe her relief at 07:00 a.m. can help me. Unacceptable. !! If I had a flight to catch I was DONE. At 05:550 a.m. the Handy Man shows up and can't open the safe. He finally comes back and gets it open.So on Three and a half hours of sleep I take on a 4 1/2 hour drive back to New York. The exterior of the hotel certainly leaves alot to be desired, but my room was lovely and updated and very clean and spacious. Fruit, cereal, oatmeal, toast, pastries, juices, milk, coffee, tea, hash browns, meats, and a Belgian waffle maker that was fun for the kids to use to make their own. The staff was friendly and the location was excellent. We were about 10 minutes from downtown Ithaca and 5 from Cornell. I really enjoyed my experience here more than I expected based on the previous reviews I read. The hotel was priced for the amount of parents who descend on Ithaca for the time it takes to drop their children off for college. As most other guest have expressed, the condition of the hotel-rugs, paint, & general apperance are definately very poor. The bedding & towels are fine and the hot breakfast is above average. We were making last minute get a way plans and all the other hotels were booked. Stay here if you must but go some where else if you can.

The parking lot is in disrepair. There was an old abandoned dryer sitting out back near the door we entered, and all the workers were congregated there as we entered the hotel. The walls were a sickly pink, the shower was clean but a throw back to the 70's. The saving grace was that the bed was clean and comfortable.

On the positive side, the beds and bathroom were fine. Beyond that, the carpets were downright disgusting both in the room and throughout the hotel which made the two night stay unpleasant. The lady at the front desk was very nice, she changed our room without us asking because initially we were supposed to be in a room next to a party. The room we got was very quiet. They just need to update the shower because the taps are very difficult to turn and the pipe was somewhat clogged.

Bed sheets were clean, but stained with blood. Breakfast was "free", but there was no service for this buffet style setup. Plates and food were available, but absolutely nobody was bussing the tables. If you came in late, you had to push aside someone else's plates to have room at a table to eat.

I go to Ithaca to see the Gorges. I didn't expect to find them in the hotel parking lot. First impressions mean a lot, and Clarion would be wise to consider the impression this hotel makes. The ragged parking lot, dated decor, and carpetless entryways belong to a dingy motor lodge along Rte 66. Our visit to the Clarion was not bad overall. The hotel was tidy though had a musty smell about it and was really in need of a decor update. The parking lot was a disaster. I think hotels should be priced according to the services and amenities they provide. I think the Clarion in Ithaca is overcharging for a swimming pool in a room with a leaky roof and dirty floors, guest rooms that are only marginally maintained, and very poor cleaning service: there were black hairs all over the bathroom floor and the toilet was not […] as clean as it should be. On top of all of this, my husband left his $50 heavy duty metal razor and wooden shaving brush there and they apparently just threw it out or a cleaning person stole it. Over $100 worth of personal property that most other hotels would have kept in lost & found and they have not returned our calls to confirm it's gone after 3 different calls asking if they are sure it was lost. The person at check- in was very helpfull in trying to make us comfortable and the staff at breakfast were very accomadating,food great and area clean. Our stay was from 7/29/11 to 7/31/11. First of all, the parking lot was atrocious. The parking lot was full, so the only spot I could find was in the back where there were potholes about 5 inches deep. Add in the rain water, and the fact that I was wearing sandals, my feet got wet. The carpeting in the hallways was stained, and there was a musty smell […] throughout the entire establishment. Once in the room, it was clear it wasn't worth what we paid. We could only get 2 double beds, which was fine. But the bathroom had MOLD in it! I took many pictures. Also, the bathroom door sits right where your legs would be if you're on the toilet, so you have to go around the door, close it, and then go to the bathroom. The shower head had some nasty gunk stuck in it. There were also stains on the carpet in the room. Breakfast ended before 10am, so after a night of wedding fun and wanting to sleep in, I wasn't able to eat there. Checkout wasn't until 11am. While checking out, we asked the lady at the front desk about the condition of the hotel and showed her the pictures of our room. We explained the hotel wasn't up to par for what we had paid.
