Rather pedestrian hotel with crowded rooms and minimal facilities. Disappointing as I'm a fan of Kimpton hotels in general. Of note, they would not provide loyalty privileges because I booked through third party website, which hadn't been the case at other Kimpton hotels in the past.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Love the Kimptons"
This was my second Kimpton stay in 3 months. I am very impressed. They did a great job with the hotel. Staff is very accomodating. Cool neighborhood. I'm a Fan.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in Dupont Circle"
This is a fun, chic hotel. The staff is phenomenally friendly, and the location is excellent. On the negative side, 1) the bed in the Executive King room was not very comfortable, and 2) our first night (a Saturday), there was a group partying loudly next door.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel great location very clean"
Great place to stay staff was great and they even had dog bed and bowls waiting in the room when we arrived!!Genuine Expedia guest review
comfortable，but parking fee is expensive，and you can choose other parking place nearby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not bad for the price"
Stayed overnight for a concert and got the hotel due to the fact that I typically enjoy the refurbished boutique hotel experience. Price was great for a last second deal, but I'm not sure if I'd go again. As a silver lining, the location was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Unique boutique hotel near Dupont"
This hotel had a great vibe and well-designed rooms. Loved the thought and attention to detail that went into designing the hotel. The yoga rooms were very cool. The bathroom toilet and shower area were a bit small and very generic - not as cool as the rest of the room and hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"would definitely go back"
staff was really so goo, big room, nice location.......................Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice romantic space"
My girlfriend and I spent the weekend here and really enjoyed our time. The restaurant Firefly next door adds an additional value to the hotel since you can go right down stairs and enter the restaurant through a door in the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to bars and restaurants"
Nice hotel that is 2 blocks from the subway stop. Renovated, but somewhere between just kind of old and mildly historic. Staff is friendly and the environment is low key. Good place for DC business travelers or those looking to avoid excitement from their lodging. 2 thumbs up.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice pet friendly hotel, staff were very welcoming"
Really good experience, would definately come back.Genuine Expedia guest review
A great boutique hotel, in a wonderful location, at a great price. This will be my first choice for my next visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to event we were attneding"
The hotel was lovely- very European style. Only thing I missed was coffee in the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Sad to See the Decline"
I really write this review with sadness. I've been a consistent customer of the Madera for 15 years. For many years this was the best place in DC to stay. It's small and personal, the service was great, and the location was unbeatable. The last time we stayed there was a string of unfortunate service incidents from a housekeeper walking in without knocking […] (and didn't understand when I asked her to leave) to a room service tray showing up with lipstick stains on the coffee cups. The manager was very agreeable and offered to comp our next stay. His excuse was something about getting ready for a remodel. Ok. We didn't take advantage of that because of scheduling issues, but made a reservation last weekend. We were on a tight schedule and placed a room service menu on the door. When the tray didn't show and we were pushing our departure time, I called the desk, only to be told that they didn't collect room service orders, but that they'd get right on it. Again, I complained, and the front desk manager comped our parking and offered another free night. But I think we'll start looking for somewhere else in Dupont Circle. It was a good run, Madera, but you need to review Customer Service 101. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Pleasant Stay in DC - But Not 5-Star"
Well, the outside of the hotel was plain, and the check-in and lobby were almost non-existent, but the room was large and nicely decorated. We even had a balcony view out on New Hampshire Ave so we could observe the weekend activity. My only two complaints would be: 1. the extremely small, closet-like bathroom. 2. that I spent over $50 for valet service […] and the car came back with scratches and dings Wife enjoyed the room and location, so we might visit again. This is not a 5-star hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but in my visits with other "boutique" hotels around the world, I would give this a "3 out of 5." "Great staff, good location, modern hotel"
Great experience from the friendly staff to the large, modern room. Very comfortable bed. Very clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful time bouncing around a favorite part of DC.Genuine Expedia guest review
I stayed here for New Years and absolutely enjoyed it. They accommodated not only me but my dog as well. It is a boutique hotel so yes it is small but I like that. The front desk went above and beyond for anything I needed. I will be staying again!Genuine Expedia guest review
Good and clean hotel. Only possible negative is small bath.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful surprise. Helpful staff great restaurant Washington, D.C. Is not easy to get around in but with the help of all the staff we managed quite well wil stay here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location. Service made beds but left glasses with leftover wine there and did not leave clean glasses or new bath supplies. One elevator did not work for most of the stay either. Front desk was helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for nice hotel"
Close to Dupont Metro and lots of restaurants. Comfortable beds- slept well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Boutique Hotel!!"
I had a great overall experience at Hotel Madera!! My only issue was there were no sheets for the pull out bed and one of the staff member didn't understand that a person needs more than one sheet to make up a bed and he seemed hesitant to give me another sheet. However, I enjoy not staying in the typical Hilton or Marriot and my room had a treadmi […] ll!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel is charming and comfortable. Right next to a fantastic restaurant. Location is great to get out and walk to see the sights. Staff friendly and courteous. Highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had the double queen room with balcony. The stay was great. The room was bigger than expected and the location was perfect with DuPont circle a couple of blocks away. Also, they had a complimentary wine hour in the lobby. The only issues were they had street construction outside so navigating in a car was hard and the lobby is small, but that is […] to be expected with a boutique hotel. "Nice hotel location"
I was in Washington, DC on college visits with my son. We were really surprised at how large the room was. However, the bathroom definitely wasn't on the same standard as the room. The bathroom was very very small and outdated. That said, the room made up for it. My second and only other disappointment was the parking. The hotel charge $45 (not including […] taxes) per day. I found this extremely expensive, especially since the hotel could provide parking. I think it's ok to charge for parking, but I felt this price was an overkill for a guest staying in the hotel. "Modern & very spacious"
This is a great hotel. The room was beautiful & very spacious. My only concern was that there was a small dead roach in the bathroom. I alerted the front desk & they said they would take care of it. The lobby isn't impressive, but the room made up for it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Best Service I've Ever Received"
The friendliest, most helpful, most accommodating hotel staff I have ever encountered. Made my stay even more fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful, safe, and close to interesting restaurants. Valet parking and kindness of staff who know your name adds to very comfortable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My family and I stayed the weekend for my birthday. We had a great time. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. They gave us great restaurant recommendations. One restaurant we ended up going back to twice - "Founding Farmers". The valet was pretty expensive but worth it. The service was great. The one downfall was that we have a 1 1/2 […] year old and the hotel wasn't really child friendly, it has a very small lobby, small hallway small elevators, and no ramps for strollers to elevator, only stairs. We made it work. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My wife and I stayed at this hotel with my two kids for two nights. Excellent experience all around. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean and the location is right near the Dupont Subway stop. My only minor criticism is that the bathroom was quite small. "excellent pet friendly hotel"
Pet friendly hotel close to dupont circle. One of the most pet accomodating hotels i have seen.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Big room with a balcony. Very comfortable. Loved the unique bathrobes (animal prints!). Outlets everywhere (check the side of the nightstands--cool). But the very best was the extra special assist at getting a cab. The desk called, the cab kept saying it was out front waiting but we could clearly see it was not. One of the desk clerks ran down the street […] to a more major intersection and hailed a cab for me. Talk about service. I hope to return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location Great Staff Great Room"
This hotel is extremely well located for restaurants and going out. It is extremely quiet and well maintained. The staff is exceptional. The room and bathroom are both spacious. There is a separate "kitchen" area with a nice refrigerator and table.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by Hotel Madera, a Kimpton Hotel Charlie, we are thrilled that you had a great visit with us! The location cant be beat if you want to visit the Dupont Circle neighborhood or take to the Metro to some of the museums. Thanks again, Modi Ahmed General Manager
Great, convenient location. Rooms are nicely put together. Our room was unavailable at 3:30 that day - an upgrade was offered (but w/2 queen's instead of a king). Only hitch in an otherwise pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent Dupont Circle choice"
I've stayed in a variety of downtown D.C. hotels and thought the Medera by Kimpton was exceptional at a reasonable price. The room had a contemporary style that my wife and I found attractive and the bed was very comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A Close Get Away That Felt Like a Far Away Trip"
The experience from the room to the staff was great. the only draw backs were our room was right behind the bar/kitchen so it was loud and the the valet parking was a little costly. Other than that the staff was great. My wife loved the wine hour they offer each day. Being able to walk to great restaurants and shopping areas was a plus!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Overnight Stay"
We stayed overnight on our destination to SC. We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The room was just as it was pictured on line, very clean and comfy. There's a restaurant in the left of the lobby: It was in a very convenient location, so my Granddaughters were able to sightsee the White house and walk to shops and eateries. A nice balcony view […] even with the construction going on. It will be even nicer once that is complete. I was a little surprised when I saw the dogs in a room next to ours and others walking through the hotel on leashes of course. I must also say that valet parking was expensive. I hadn't realized there was a $53 charge until departure. I did state that and they accommodated me and removed the parking charge. They asked if I needed driving directions to my next destination and printed it out. Highly recommended. You won't be disappointed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"First time to Washington, DC"
Great location.Wonderful hotel staff.Great food and loved the presentation.Great price for hotel. Pricey valet parking but that may be par for the course in Washington. Still better to park your car and walk or take public transport to the sites.Brought our own coffee maker for the room (better than schlepping to the lobby for same)Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Customer service like the Ritz, but JOYFUL!"
Service like no other (especially Nicole!) always joyful, always helpful! Thank you for making it BETTER than home. Well located in DuPont Circle, walking distance to restaurants, shops, Metro, and by stops. Room 709 was large, über-quiet, and always well air-conditioned. Hotel Madera is my new DC go-to!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Room Converts to Meeting Room"
Do not stay in the converted meeting room on the second floor! There is a big wall filled with panels that offer very little sound insulation. Quite a noisy night once the people arrived in the adjoining room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location comfort and great friendliness and ease.."
For my purpose and daily ease an excellent, non-commercial location. Extremely friendly, efficient front-desk. The building fit into the neighbor hood nr. Dupont Circle & Connecticut Ave. (with a Metro entr. to Red Line - think Downtown, National Galleries, Union Station- , a couple of blocks away) unobtrusively like an modern apt. building w/balconied […] front in a residential area. It's next door restaurant Firefly, connected on the inside, allowed the comfort to stay in for food or a drink, conversations at the bar, when tired feet, a satiated mind did not generate desire to go restaurant hunting anymore. Large, handsome room, very comfortable beds, good amenities (i.e. umbrella, iron/ board, robes and more), completed all. For breakfast, beyond coffee in the lobby and the Firefly, there were a number of take-out/sit-in places at Dupont Circle & Connecticut Ave. doing brisk morning business for people on their way to work. Glass of wine at end of the afternoon in the lobby a nice touch, though hardly a reception, for the lobby is small. A young man, who could do everything, morning and throughout the day, engaged people in conversation and with warmth, humor and a big smile made people feel at home rather than like in a hotel. I observed: bicycles were made available to guests free o/charge to paddle around the neighborhd. Be forewarned: both N. H. Ave. and 20th St are somewhat torn up for road works. I would want to come back to this peaceful, convenient enclave. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
