Facilities are very nice, BUT management needs to rethink some of their decisions. All the convenient, close-up parking spaces are reserved for management so all customers are forced to park at a distance. The fitness center appears to be very nice BUT on weekends it doesn't open until 9 AM. Most overnight travelers would be long gone by then. WE have stayed here several times because of its proximity to Shepherd University. We love the friendliness of the staff and all of the dining options. The pool ,spa, and fitness areas are also a bonus. We recommend this to anyone coming in to the Shepherdstown area for buisness or pleasure.

For the amount that you pay they could at least provide coffee for their guests. There is no complementary breakfast and even a cup of coffee in the morning costs guests a dollar. The hotel was a lot better than what we expected based on the low price. The hotel had everything that we needed. There was good food in the restaurant and the bar service was great. The only complaint was that I was trying watch the game in the bar and the room - all the TV's were low def. They need to update their A/V service.

For a quiet weekend away, the Clarion was very comfy. The entrance with the grand staircase is impressive, and the hot tub out back was so needed after a day of traveling around Harpers Ferry. We didn't opt to get the breakfast; instead we went to Betty's in Shephardstown, and the food was AMAZING--definitely worth the wait!

The room was clean and the bed comfortable and it had good amenities (refrigerator, microwave, nice t.v.). The restaurant in the evening serves pretty nice meals at a reasonable price for the area as well. Also the hotel has a fitness center and outdoor pool. It was very convienent to Shepherdstown and the Antietam Battlefield. The not so good parts: […] the whole hotel just felt very dark to me. Maybe it is the low ceilings combined with the color choices for the carpets and bedding. I don't know. The pool could have been cleaner. And breakfast on the weekends at the restaurant is a buffet only and the eggs were lukewarm, the bacon was pretty well cold and it is not included in the price of the room. Very beautiful hotel. When you signed in the lady was to busy texting on her phone to make any type of conversation. After going to the room went to turn ac up it was set on 60 burrr.... to find out I stepped in water I guess the ac was working OT or something. Left to go to dinner told the same lady about the water on the floor ( now that I think of […] it praying it was water..) She seemed not to say much. The room was in Ok condition. Very nice place. Clean. Nice outdoor pool. Restaurant had good salad, seafood, beer, etc. Very close to downtown Shepherdstown, WV which had a great, old fashioned main street with more great restaurants (Chinese, Thai/Japanese, Vegan, Breakfast, Pastry, etc.).

I frequently stay at this hotel and the restaurant staff and front desk staff are wonderful people and always helpful. My only criticism is that the maid crew need to pay some attention to the spaces behind the furniture. The hotel staff was very accomodating with everything from assistance with the lobby computer/printer to the lounge manager who accomodate our request for a late night coffee and dessert even though the kitchen was technically closed. There is a nice restaurant and a cozy bar on site. Food was good in Tuscany. Service in Rumsey Tavern was outstanding. […] Room was clean (and there were no bed bugs - since I am a bit paranoid about this problem in hotels, I thought I would mention it for others who are as well). This is a very nice hotel with a very good Italian Restaurant ! It is close to Shepheard University and just a short drive from Antietam battlefield which was excellant and well worth a visit. Not too many other places to eat in the town though.

The hotel is very close to a nearby university and there were a lot of basketball teams staying there for a tornament. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean. Overall a nice place to stay if you need to be in Shephardstown for any reason. I would stay there again in the future.

This hotel is just fine. Could be a updated a little, bathroom could have been cleaned a little better. But all in all, it was fine. Shepherdstown is charming and this appears to be the nicest hotel in the area. Free parking, free internet. We felt like we got our money's worth and would stay there again if we were in the area.

I love this hotel. Restaurant (Italian) is excellent. Rooms are so comfortable, that I gladly spend a day resting up there. Swimming pool is lovely, It is my very favorite holtel anywhere.

We are Civil War afficionados as well as laid back gamblers, and I wanted a GOOD hotel in Shepherdstown close to Charlestown Races and Slots. Since it was a special Fathers Day treat I wanted a specially good hotel. There is NOTHING in the area worth a dime, and I was not about to stay in questionable 2 star places. What a wonderful surprise to find […] the Clarion located right where I wanted to be. Although it is a huge hotel designed for conferences, you still get the feeling of intimacy and coziness. The standard room is huge; the dining areas serve very good food; you could stay indoors and be entertained with the pool and the gym or stroll the grounds. It is a short hop to the historical area of Shepherdstown. Would highly recommend this to everyone. And the price does not break the bank either! Read more
