Service was exceptional and hotel was in excellent condition
"good location-great service"
beautiful hotel, great breakfast buffet-only problem was the fridge and coffee pot were missing from the room-my kids loved the pool and we loved the hot tub
"Room size"
The size of the room for the price was not really worth it, nice hotel but would have liked a exhaust fan in the bathroom.
"Excellent location, breakfast buffet a must"
My husband and I chose this hotel as a final getaway before our first baby arrives, a sort of "baby moon". We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel room, although the room service / concierge is a bit slow. It was a real hassle to get a couple of extra water bottles and shampoos. The views of the Chicago river, and surrounding downtown […] are amazing. Breakfast buffet is excellent, and they always have the most current newspaper on hand. Hotel Spa provides excellent massages, and heated indoor pool and 24hr fitness center proved to be a real asset. Read more

"Almost great stay"
The overall condition and cleanliness was good. The temperature control in the room was seriously lacking. It ran from hot to cold and the thermostat didn't seem to make much difference.

"Repeat Customer"
I've stayed at the Renaissance twice now. I highly recommend this hotel in every aspect. The only issue is that the bed/mattress is not very comfortable.
"Great Hotel for Over 15 Years !!!"
We've been staying at the Renaissance Chicago for over 15 years, and it is always Great. We're not big users of hotel amenities, so we cannot comment. But to us the hotel meets every requirement - excellent location, good rooms, good service, friendly/helpful concierge, good cab line, and all the guests are friendly to each other = they're happy and […] having a GOOD TIME. River view room is worth the extra, you can see the Trump Tower and count all the money you're saving!!! Read more
The hotel was very nice and the people were great. The only complaint is the cost of parking your car is excessive. Other than that they were great.
"Excellent Weekend Retreat"
The Renaissance is a beautiful hotel in a great location if you want to be close to shopping on Michigan Avenue and have wonderful meals over a weekend. The room was extremely clean, perfectly manicured and overall beautiful! We were on the 23rd floor facing the Chicago River with a great view. The staff at the front desk was most helpful and called […] to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction about 15 minutes after we got in our room. We were lucky to be able to get into our room two hourse before check-in which made for a longer day to shop on the Miracle Mile! Overall I would rate this hotel experience a 10! Read more
"Great Hotel for Central Location and Quality"
I was thrilled with this hotel selection. We had the benefit of having a room facing the river, so we had a wonderful view of the river, the Trump Tower, etc. The room was large, comfortable and very clean. The location of this hotel is unbeatable for ease - it is blocks from the Blue Line making access to the OHare extremely easy, and the Red Line […] makes North/South travel easy, and the Brown Line is two blocks away. The area was very quiet after midnight - with no food options around, so that was the one disappointment. High recommend this property. Read more

"central location and river view"
Make sure you reserve a room that faces the river. All other views are unremarkable. The location is probably one of the best due to easy access to shopping, public transport and clean surroundings. Entire family enjoyed their stay here.

"Renaissance in downtown Chicago"
Staff was very friendly, our flight came in early morning and we were able to check in as early as 9am. Great walking distance to everything. Would definitely stay here again.

"Renaissance Chicago"
Very nice hotel, close to the trains, theaters, shopping and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the bar was nice and comfortable. Take advantage of the free bicycles and go for a ride alongside Lake Michigan. No refrigerator in the room.

"Poor Service"
Upon arrival was informed two bedroom availability was booked up unless I wanted to upgrade at full price. Internet connectivity was extremely poor in the room due to me having a newer computer and software (per hotel IT analyst). Parking was extremely high along with food in hotel, which is somewhat expected but it took over 30 minutes to get my vehicle […] and the food was not very good. Nice hotel with location, but service was not worth the expense in my opinion. Read more
"The Renaissance Marriott in Chicago"
The hotel overlooks the Chicago River and is convenient and within walking distance to most fo the things you would want to visit in Chicago . The Chicago River boat tours were 2 blocks away. Milenium Park and the Art Institute were only 5 or 6 blocks from the hotel as were many very good restaurants and jazz clubs. If you had to travel outside the […] immediate downtown areak, cabs were always available. And like most Marriott hotels, this one is a class act. Read more

"Friendly Staff, extremely clean; great location"
The Renaissance never fails to deliver; this property is no exception. VERY clean, hotel staff wonderful, great location.
"Renaissance Chicago"
Awesome location, great price, everything was exactly what you expect from a 5 star hotel! Would definitely stay here again!
"Disappointed"
The Renaissance is a nice hotel, but a couple of issues really soured us on our stay. First - the place was full of young families, and that led to constant doors banging shut at hours of the morning that most grown-up travelers would rather be sleeping on the mornings of a weekend get-away. The room doors really slam closed hard, and if the parents […] had been kind enough to catch them and close them reasonably quietly, it wouldn't have been a problem. They didn't, so all we heard, up and down our hallway, was SLAM! BANG! from before 8:00 AM on. Also, who charges for in-room wireless internet access? What is this, the airport in 1998? We travel a bit for fun and this is the first time in a long time that we stayed in a hotel that fancies itself a top-notch property that wants to nickel and dime (well, really $14.95/day) you for internet access. Kind of lame. There are so many other hotels in Chicago. I think we'll pick a different one next time. Read more
"NICE!!!"
I've stayed in Chicago several times in the past, and this has been my most comfortable stay. Right in the middle of things, great staff, spacious rooms
"Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel"
The hotel was spectacular! We loved every minute of it. Had minor problem, the remote from our television was missing, had to call for one. When we received the remote, we found out it did not work, had to call for another one, that one also did not work. The overall experience was wonderful, we will stay here again.
"pricey but great loc. by river/sights"
The room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable. We liked the non-smoking policy. Staff were nice and responsive to requests. Starbucks staff in lobby were a bit brusque but all others we encountered were helpful, and we didn't feel the pressure to tip every few seconds. Lovely view from second floor restaurant. Nice bar area with complimentary potato […] chips and reasonably priced drinks. Close enough to walk to Michigan Ave, Navy Pier, Art Inst. in good weather. Pool was a bit small and there were lots of kids in it. I'd stay here again, if given the same discount. We had to pay a lot for parking -- 47 dollars -- in order to park at the hotel and get in-out privileges but we didn't need them as we were able to walk to everything. However, having paid for two days, we were allowed to leave the car in the parking lot until 6 p.m. on the day of checkout and leave our bags at the desk. So, all things considered, it probably wasn't much more expensive than the city lots, some of which don't let you park overnight. Read more
"Great Stay"
We chose the Renaissance for location in the theater district and were not disappointed. We were able to walk to dinner, shopping and to the Chicago Theater across the street. No cabs! Felt quite safe even late after the show - lots of street lighting, people and traffic. Relaxed in the hotel lounge afterward. Our room was lovely, comfortable and clean. […] Staff was warm and helpful. Will return! Read more
"Renaissance in Chicago"
Nice hotel near Michigan Ave. Great location (near the redline). Pool was crowded and the hot tub was not operational.
"The Renaissance hotel in Chicago"
Excellent location, beatifully decorated and very efficient staff, I definitely will recomend this hotel.
"Renaissance Hotel Chicago - great central location"
Great location on Wacker Drive and State. Nice river views. Within walking distance of shopping, dining and entertainment, the "EL", subway and bus lines. Very clean and staff were all friendly and helpful without the attitudes you see at some self-styled "hip" hotels. Beware if you stay on the State St. side you will hear the EL all night long, but […] you get used to it after a while. My biggest complaint is that the music that played in the lobby and hallways was too loud and obnoxious and not consistent with the quality of the hotel. Read more
"Got a good deal!"
We arrived 2 hours past check in time only to find out our room (and many others) were not ready. After waiting 30 minutes with our luggage it was ready. Talked to the manager and got our parking charges waived. Saved us 98 bucks. The valet is expensive and was happy we got it free. The neighborhood is great. Walking distance to Millenium Park, free […] trolly to navy pier, walk out the back door and your at the train stop, and just a 2 minute walk from Michigan avenue. Overall I was very pleased, however if I didnt get free parking I'd feel a little bit ripped off for 49 per night for parking... Read more

The Chicago hotel was centrally located. It was a short cab ride to all downtown locales. There was also shopping and restuarants in walking distance from the hotel. The customer service was excellent. There was free wifi in the lobby but not in the room. This was a minor inconvenience.
"Excellent Location, Personable Staff, GREAT FOOD"
Perfect location to see the coloring of the river for ST. Pats - close enough to the stores, museums and park for walking - ate at the Great Street Restaurant in the hotel and was fabulous service and food. Very Clean room and everyone we encountered on the staff - spa, or maintenance, or at car pickup were extremely friendly - would be glad to return […] anytime Read more
"great location for Chicago Theater and great food"
We were going to the Chicago Theater that night and couldn't believe how close the theater was! We also walked to Texas De Brazil for dinner. The only down size was the length of the bed. My husband is 6'3" and the bed wasn't long enough.
"Highly Recommended"
After check-in, we opened our hotel room to great delight. The hotel room boasted a gorgeous view of the Marina Towers with the river's bend down and to our right. The furnishings were just perfect--modern, yet cozy. The bathroom was spacious and beautiful with all the little things that made our stay a true pleasure--the bathroom has a perfect dim […] light that turns on beneath the vanity when the overhead light is turned out, so you can find your way should you need to stop in the middle of the night. The pillows, too, were just wonderful with a variety of nearly ten square-shaped pillows of varying densities--there's bound to be one for every one. :) My husband and I both had a very restful night sleep. We didn't hear another guest or anyone in the hallway during our entire stay, and we were generally very impressed! (We paid extra for the river view--totally worth the money!) When we stay downtown again, we'll definitely come back to the Renaissance! We've stayed at many top-rated hotels, and we found this stay to be one of the very best! Read more
"Close to theater and not far from shopping"
Hotel is great if you're going to see a show, and Michigan Ave is only a block or two away. We had a river view room, and the view was very nice. If you're worried about fitting 4 people in a room with two queen sized beds, don't be, because the room was actually quite big. The only thing that went wrong the entire trip was the carelessness of the parking […] valet when we called our car to leave. It took 20 minutes to get the car, and my friend missed her train home. If the valet takes more than 5 minutes, say something, because they probably forgot about you. Read more
"Near main attractions"
My family just wanted to visit Chicago for a good time. This hotel provided us with the opportunity to do just that. The hotel is within walking distance of the downtown main attractions. The rooms were immaculant-great view from the river view rooms. Customer service was great and I'm positive that we'd stay here again.

"Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel"
The hotel was beautiful. The room was nicely-appointed and clean. The hotel was close to the restaurant and theater for the evening. The staff were attentive and friendly. The only complaint was a marginally-functioning toilet, which was not a big deal. We would definitely return in the future.
