We have stayed at the Stoneleigh Hotel in the past and been very happy. Recently we had a family gathering in Dallas and booked several rooms at the Stoneleigh. We were very disappointed in our stay. Although the rooms are lovely, this time the service made the difference in our experience. Despite calls about non-working lights in the bathroom the problem was never fixed during our 5-night stay. We ate in the hotel restaurant two or three times because of it's convenient location and our hectic schedule, but we were amazed that they were never able to prepare toast that was not moist and limp, despite our request. Our attempts to find bellmen or valets were often fruitless. The concierge was pleasant when we could locate him. The bad weather must have been a problem - but we did not expect the valets to be surly. The front desk people could not give us information on the surrounding area, and when we commented on our difficulties finding the valet we were told that there weren't many people working. Perhaps the economy has caused staffing to be cut and that explains our problems. Some people used the spa and were happy with the services. Regardless, we were embarrassed to have recommended the Stoneleigh for this extended visit.

The hotel itself was very nice. Unfortunately for us we got very little sleep. I don't know if it was because it was a weekend or our room location but it was very loud. There was loud music and people running up and down the stairs which were metal and quite annoying. Other than that it is a great place. Also the spa has only one nail technician so you cannot have a pedicure with another person.

Very well appointed Hotel, stylish room and large bathroom. Close to several restaurants and walking distance (a long walk) to Dallas downtown. Spent 3 enjoyable nights here at a ver reasonable rat. Only complaint was the cooked breakfast (room service) which was although perfecty cooked (poached eggs, bacon and hash browns) was almost cold when received. Coffee was excellent though. I would definitely stay here again. For dining, try Truluck's seafood and steak restaurant (impeccable service & food) or Coal Vine Pizza, both excellent and just a few blocks walk away.

I got a great deal at hotels.com and that made the stay that much better. There was some elevator noise the first night, but that was because it was literally across the hall from the door. The second night they gave us a different room without a moments hesitation. They gave us excellent ideas on where to go to eat and things to look at. I loved it and would go again!

My husband and I overall enjoyed a recent getaway at the hotel, and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The only thing that surprised us, even though we dine out a lot, was the pricing of their food and beverages. A glass of Hook & Ladder (their house--i.e., lowest price) Chardonnay goes for $13--the retail cost of a bottle, which seemed steep to us. And breakfast for two set us back about $50. Another thing to note that if you get a room on the 10th floor, ask if there'll be a wedding going on (which was during our stay), since you can hear almost every word of each song performed during the reception. Fortunately "our" reception ended at 9. Otherwise, the hotel is in a fabulous location and there are plenty of good restaurants to be had if you venture out.

I booked the Stoneleigh on recommmendation of a friend as I was visiting over the Halloween weekend. It was perfect. It had the sort of vibe and quality of service that is hard to find even in nicer hotels...Was very tastefully decorated, room & bath were beautiful. Service was excellent and not stuffy or pretentious. The scene was elegantly relaxed, but not sleepy. I liked how it was NOT a replica of the W scene. Room service was also surprisingly good and promptly served. Also, the bar was great --it was a nice place to start for the evening's festivities. Had a good feel to it. This hotel was a steal. I will do it again next time I'm in the area.

The one and only problem that we had with the Stoneleigh is that we were told the room would be ready at 3pm for check-in. We were getting married that night and when we arrived at 4:30, our room was not ready, we were told to come back later for check-in, I told them that was not an option, they then asked if someone else could check in for us...... I told them "No, that is not possible" the gentlemen went to the back and a lady came out and I explained that I was getting married in an hour and a half, and I still needed to get ready. She upgraded our room for the inconvience. Make sure to call ahead to make sure they can get you into a room when they say they can.

This was my first visit to Dallas and I will definitely return. I was upgraded to a beautiful king suite after being given a room with a view of an unfinished building. The entire staff was helpful in giving directions, friendly and promptly answered most request. The only thing missing was a coffee pot in my room. The hotel did not have any available for guest but room service will gladly deliver a carafe for the price of 3 large lattes plus a service charge and gratuity. The rooms, accented by exquisite decorations, large soaking tubs and oversized windows, convey the image of a true luxury hotel. The location is seconds from restaurants, shopping, a movie theatre and museums.

Stoneleigh must be on hard times. It's still a very cool art deco hotel, but lots of little things have changed. We've stayed there 5 times the past 2 years, but next trip to Dallas we'll try something else. Perhaps the problem with the companion condo development has caused hotel management to tighten the belt. But no coffee service (in-room or lobby)? Not enough linens in the bathroom -- is there a shortage of wash clothes in Dallas? No newspapers available on weekend mornings, not even at the registration desk. Details are the difference between 3, 4 and 5 stars. Sadly, Stoneleigh has slipped a notch.

I have been staying at the Stoneleigh for years (pre-remodel). I couldn't believe the makeover, both in and outside of the rooms. Total upgrade and far exceeded my expectations. They moved the bar into the lobby and expanded the dining room downstairs. The room was very comfortable and spacious and did not have any of the "quirks" the old Stoneleigh had. Everything was fresh and clean and nice. Even had a robe laid out on the bed for me when I arrived late. This is one of the best deals in DFW. Plus the Stonleigh P is a great hangout just across the street.

When we checked in we were immediately upgraded to a suite which was spacious and very comfortable. The location was perfect, we were able to walk into downtown but could also have caught the McKinney Street free tram. The uptown neighbourhood where the Stoneleigh is located was lively with an abundance of bars and restaurants, the best of which has to be The Ginger Man. My only complaint was that there wasn't a concierge (or at least we never saw one) so we had to wait for the desk staff, however they were extremely helpful. Overall a great trip and a highly recommended hotel.

This was our first stay at this hidden delight in the shadow of downtown Dallas. A bit out of our way but a treasure. On weekends, quiet because it is in what would be considered the business district, which might represent something of a drawback for some, i.e. there is little in the way of alternative restaurants, etc. in the immediate vicinity. Fabulous large room, impeccable service. Very pleased.
