We had been looking forward to staying at CBI as several friends had raved about the hotel. We found the staff (mostly) just so helpful, but a couple of comments: The Main Dining room was closed during our stay Monday and Tuesday evening, which meant either eating in the Tavern or going out. We were in a room at the top of the Main House which was not […] much more than the size of the bed, very cramped. Wehen we asked if we could have a similar room, but with an ocean view, but were told all those rooms were full. This turned out not to be the case at all, and we can only assume that they decided not to move us as we had paid through Hotels.com. (There were hardly any guests the two nights we were in house.) What we did like was the free and convenient shuttle service to any restaurant in town. Food in the Tavern was mixed, and there was a consistent effort to upsell, i.e., when we asked what the house wine was we were told the waiter didn't know but that they had Cakebread available (a much more expensive selection) - this happened more than once. "Slight disappointment despite the location."
We found the linens of one of the beds had not been adequately cleaned. This translated into finding in the bed a few spots, hairs, and a teddy bear from a previous occupant. On another note, the concierge was not very helpful or resourceful, providing us with few insights as to eateries or local activities. On a positive note, the hotel grounds are […] splendid (however very large > 220 rooms). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Don't spend your money"
This was my first stay at the Chatham Barrs Inn. I had issues the moment we tried to check in. Neither key would open the lock, there was a stain on the carpet, linens had stains, dirty spa slippers left for us to use, dirt around bathroom sink and in snack drawer. I reported al this upon check out and was told they are still transitioning from winter. […] I have stayed in many 5 star hotels across the country and this was a first! We attended a wedding in Chatham on New Years Day and wanted a comfortable convenient place to stay that night so we wouldn't have to drive back to Boston the same day. Great stay Lesson learned when booking with Hotel.com we got a great rate but not a great room. The hotel made the room change with no rate change which they did not have to do. Pretty certain this would not have happened during the prime season. In the future I will be prepared prior to check inGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Chatham Bars Inn - A must visit"
The place is amazing. I had heard good things from friends who went so decided to stay. It was great. Try and get into one of the outer cottages if you can. Totally romantic and worth the money. We went in the Winter and are going to try and make it a weekly trip!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect Cape Cod destination"
Chatham bars Inn is the most perfect place to spend time on Cape Cod. It provides everything you could wish for. There is a world class restaurant with excellent staff - the Star plus three other dining options. There is a beach where you can relax or walk, and a swimming pool. Both are serviced by young enthusiastic staff. The fact the Inn is a 10 […] minute walk from a perfect town which offers excellent shopping opportunities and wonderful restaurants makes Chatham Bars Inn very special. We did not use the spa or even visit it. Our five day stay did not require that option. We had two small issues about the room but both were dealt with quickly and efficiently. "Great hotel, beautiful setting."
It's a fantastic hotel, particularly if one gets a good out-of-season price. Most of the staff were noticeably helpful and considerate. General facilities and décor were very good indeed (although bear in mind that pool and beach bar/restaurant close out of season). Room was lovely, plenty of space for family of 4. Chatham is easy walking distance […] and a great place for a family visit - try the Squire for a great meal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We had a very relaxing two day stay, we had spent the previous week self caltering and enjoyed the pampering. The location is marvellous, so beautiful. Fantastic service. Seals on the sand bars were a bonus. Loved it all. Room big and comfortable. Great public golf course next to hotel. Nine holes but fun and well priced.

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Room Categories are to be aligned!"
My wife an I were staying some days at Chatham Bars Inn during our honeymoon round trip in New York and New England. We can definitely recommend this hotel. Most of the promises made through hotel website and recommendations from other guests, i. e. via tripadvisor, have been meet. Nevertheless, there were three main objections especially since this […] hotels claims to be one of "The leading Hotels of the World": #1 Bathroom cleanliness: on different occasions we found a variety of hair in our bathroom. It seemed that a dirty cloth had been used and no quality assurance took place #2 The Tavern retaurant: We can absolutely not recommend dinner in Tavern. Breakfast and other restaurant exceeded our expectations. #3 Room category booked was not provided: The booking was made via hotels.com and the hotel refused to provide us the room which we (thought) we had booked. Reason: hotel.com has not aligned the room categories to Chatham Bars Inn. It is very unpleasant to hope for a nice beach cottage room and get the main house room with loud A/C beside the patio. Nevertheless, the Chatham Bars Inn also has to take responsibility for promises (but refused this) that main sales agents (here: Expedia Group) makes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"By the beach"
07/30/14 NeedSleep2013 Manila, Philippines
Went here with the family for some rest and relaxation. No regrets, this is one very nice hotel. We booked a room near the beach, cost more but it's well worth it. This hotel is composed of several detached buildings, and I can understand how you may not enjoy it if you got a room that was in one of the buildings that was furthest from the beach. It was still cold in April though so we weren't able to maximize the ocean setting. Lobby staff were very helpful and pleasant. Several restaurants available. The crowd that time was mostly composed of older couples and young families. Free wifi at the lobby and free parking
"Beautiful Resort for our wedding"
07/29/14 JCOC2014 Boston, Massachusetts
I have been traveling to Chatham and visiting the Chatham Bars Inn (CBI) for 7 years and the beautiful landscape of the property never ceases to amaze me and that is only one of the reasons I chose this resort for my wedding at the end of June. The service is excellent, the quality of the inn and surrounding cottages (including rooms, restaurants) beach house, pool, and spa cannot be beat and everyone goes out of their way to make sure you feel pampered. I loved working with Clarissa and Kate for my wedding coordination - they were incredibly responsive and organized - which made my life as a summer bride so easy. The food for the wedding was delicious as expected since it was prepared in-house. I give this resort and its staff a 10 out 10 and I would absolutely recommend visiting CBI. And for the brides still searching out there - this venue isn't one that you can pass up once you visit it!!
"Perfect Cape Vacation"

Love love love the Chatham Bars Inn. The staff is exceptional, the property is stunning and it is fun for kids. We did the Pirate cruise with our 7 year old son and he loved it. The clam bake was a blast! We had a delicious dinner and all of the kids were able to play on the sand with counselors organizing fun games. Our only complaint was the room was a little small and the cot was not the most comfortable for my son. Overall a spectacular Cape vacation!
"Really nothing special"
07/25/14 KayJay317 Massachusetts
While billed as a five star resort, it is really nothing more than an average hotel. I think they rest on their laurels of being one of the nicer and/or fancier properties on the Cape. Unfortunately, it is all relative as most Cape properties are really sub-par. Be warned that this hotel caters to families with young children. There is no segregation in the dining areas. If you are there as a couple having a romantic getaway, it is highly likely you will be surrounded on three sides by tables with screaming toddlers. The parents, and apparently the hotel, care not about the overall disruption this causes. The only segregation occurs if you stay in the "Spa Building", but that is room only. If you are anywhere else on the property, you will hear shrieking. Not a five star atmosphere experience. The pool, beach and bell staff seem to be composed primarily of privileged youth who have "summered on the Cape" since they were little. It is pretty apparent they are there to polish their conversational skills in preparation for the corporate world. Their life goal is not service related at all. Many were ill equipped to answer the most basic of questions. Not a five star service experience. The food was okay, and just okay. Too much salt and butter overall. The one saving grace in the food category is the fact that for their vegetables, they have their own farm which provides some great produce for salads and sides. My husband had the $83 lobster special in Stars, it didn't hold a candle to the flavor of the lobster bisque at the Chatham Squire restaurant. Not a five star food experience. One of the oddest things was the furniture. The main lodge, queen suite room we had was furnished with items that looked like they came from a 1978 Motel 6 - I am not kidding. Yet, it was kept clean. Finally to top off our stay, at midnight on a Thursday, there was a lot of commotion in the hallway which woke us. At first I thought it was a teenage girl calling down the hall to a friend - after 10 minutes of noise, I looked out of my door. It was a drunk woman swearing like a sailor at her husband. There was an employee of the hotel watching over the situation, but doing nothing. I can't help but wonder if he was waiting for back up. I asked how long I could expect this to go on. He took a very irritated tone with me as though it was somehow my fault. I just wanted to know if I could go back to my not-so-five-star-sleep, or if I should get my book to read until all was quiet. Not a five star response. I can not recommend this hotel based on what you actually get compared to what you pay.

Went there for drinks and appetizers . Have stayed there once before and grounds are trully stunning in summertime. Everything great the only suggestion is the wait staff doenst seem to have table assignments manged very well. Waiters and Waitress working tables on grass area then by the back bar which doesnt handle drink service. Outside staff go into inside bar area for drinks when there is a outside bar doing little to none.

Stayed for 2 nights in the main building in the most quaint attic-style room on the third floor, complete with a balcony/seating area that overlooked the water. Turndown service each night was a nice touch, the room decor was impeccable, and the room had a very comfortable bed. Given the price point of the resort you would expect attentive service and amenities and they did not disappoint. The only drawback I found was that the buildings are scattered across a lot of land and signage to mark things was pretty much non-existent. The pros certainly outweighed any cons - from the open air bar, to the inside tavern open late, to the private beach access with cabanas to rent...I felt you could be any age and have a great time. I've also had a chance to stay at Wequassett in the next town over and CBI was a much better place in my opinion.
"Could've been better "
07/21/14 livvin Oceanside, New York
My husband and I spent this past weekend at this resort and we're not happy. I will say the room we had was 1400 dollars a night and was very nice. I will also say that the workers from the valet to the bartenders were wonderful. The problem is that for 1400 dollars a day I would have thought we can eat on the grounds and frequent the spa. First I tried to make a reservation at the two main restaurants. It turned into an argument cause they initially said they couldn't accommodate us. Finally I was able to push my way in but was given not such an ideal time. What really upset us was it wasn't even busy for the time I asked for. The other restaurant we arrived 3 minutes before our reservation and the hostess informed us we had to wait because we were early ??? I explained to her the restaurant wasn't busy I don't understand. She informed me if we sat early the service would be bad and it was. The manager did come over to apologize for the service. I really felt the resort was poorly managed considering we On my way 3 restaurants in New York and I certainly wouldn't be turning away customers when my restaurant wasn't filled. Also I tried to make appointments at the spa and couldn't be accommodated for ANY service. They were over booked. I just feel for the money I spent I would've liked to enjoy some amenities.

Thanks primarily to my job, I've had the luxury of staying in many 5 star hotels (7 stars in fact too) all over the world and I can honestly say that CBI ranks right up there at the top. We had a spa suite, which was heavenly. The staff are exceptionally professional, grounds are beautiful and I really can't fault anything. My only small niggle is I found the food to be quite expensive and salads were disappointing but other than that, this truly is a wonderful hotel. I had a small issue, which had nothing to do with the hotel, rather a rowdy group of guests but CBI management responded immediately to my concerns and in a very generous and professional manner. I am very, very impressed. Stay here if you can.
"Spa & Tennis"
07/20/14 OakParker98 Chicago, Illinois
We did not stay here but utilized the tennis facility and the the spa. Tennis was great; both Tucker and Connor were terrific. I would say most, if not all, of the people taking the tennis drill classes were not guests of the hotel. Many were Bostonians spending the summer on the Cape at their own homes or those renting a house (like us). Nice sized classes that were active and appropriate for the skill level of the participants and reasonable prices. I got a pedi from Sarah at the spa; she was also very good. The facility was nice and you can use the pool before or after.
"Charming and relaxing"
07/19/14 MH64 London, United Kingdom
We stayed in a room in the Cape Rose beach front cottage and were delighted with the ocean view. All the right touches were present in the room - free wi-fi, complimentary water, fridge for personal use, robes, slippers, Nespresso machine, L'Occitane toiletries. I wasn't keen on the shutters closing all the light from the room (we did manage to open a couple but not all open at once) and the beds require a pole vault to get onto to, but I realise that is authentic New England style. Being able to walk to the beach or pool and have loungers and umbrellas set out with towels for us was very relaxing. The complimentary boat shuttle across the water to the Atlantic beach was great, and seeing the seals swimming around was a novelty for us. No mistake, this is a pricey hotel, but worth it.
