We had a great time ! The restaurant was so good. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. Would return in a heartbeat!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel & room were both beautiful & service exceptional.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Most uncomfortable bed I have slept in for a long time in a room with little sound prouffing from the elevators. and then of course there is the 30/night to park. Good location though and friendly staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Loved the Viking, it was well appointed and the service could not be better. Great location close to town. Only issue was the footsteps from the room above that could be heard throughout the night. (!) Downside of a gorgeous old hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful hotel very good service excellent food in the hotel restaurant responsive staff to our needsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
One of the more memorable experiences of our stay out east! The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is beautiful and conveniently located near the pier. This Victorian mansion was beautifully decorated, clean and had comfortable beds. Would stay again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"charming old hotel, updated and gracious"
everything was fine except that it was a very long walk to our room and the mattresses were too soft. Soundproofing is not great; could hear the people next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was beautiful. The room was a bit small but was fine for the night. I just wish it was a bit cleaner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Iconic Spot."
Room was adequate size but the bathroom was incredibly small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel location but our room was dark and cramped. Expect to be nickel and dimed for everything. Want to use the hotel computer to print out concert tickets? Pay up. Want some bottled water? Pay up. Didn't appreciate this after paying an arm and a leg for our weekend. Won't be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not on the water but great location. Just a block away from waterfront and all the shopping and restaurants. Quiet and restful. Staff was very helpful. Well maintained. Room was clean. About a mile walk to most mansions and the ocean walk. Would definitely stay here again even though it is a bit pricey.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small but nice"
Very nice hotel but our room was tiny.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful Luxury Hotel"
Location is perfect- walking distance to downtown Newport. They do have valet parking, but you might be lucky to find parking next to the hotel on Church Street (it's free) or there are close public parking lots (also further down on Church street) that is cheaper than paying overnight at the hotel. The rooms are gorgeous as is the hotel in general. […] The rooftop bar and restaurant is a nice touch- the food is a bit pricy but definitely delicious! Similar to fancier restaurants in the Newport area. While the price was definitely more than I'd normally pay, the quality, comfort, and convenience make it great for special occasions. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly too! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't plan on being thrifty for a good experience"
Our suite was tiny! Only slightly larger than the bed. The bathroom was so small that I dropped a towel in the toilet. Our window transmitted too much noise from outside. The air conditioner was noisy, as well. There was an additional $45/night in parking and "resort fees." If you want to stay here, spending big may get you a better experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
FYI I have very high standards for hotels, unlike 90% of reviews I see, who I swear live in a trailer... Great Hotel, Room was Nice, Staff was very helpful except one colored woman at the front desk who was rude to us twice! Bar staff were great. Breakfast was expensive, and so is the parking. Overall a great hotel will definitely be back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Polite, attentive service. Rooms were small, yet pleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very old and dirty hotel, small cramped and noisyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Swimming pool was great"
Room looked clean but dusty pillow and bed Couldn't access room without going up and down stairs No view (at least from the 3rd floor) The instruction to the room wasn't optimal for people carrying large baggagesGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great rooftop dinning."
I've been here for the cigar dinners before. The food is great, wait staff and hotel staff is also great. I will recommend this event to anyone who enjoys great food and great atmosphere.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was too far away from everything that this hotel offers. I would stay again in the main inn. Breakfast was great on the outside terrace.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Expensive Hotel, not quite worth it"
The Viking is a large well located hotel in Newport. Although it is very upscale, and priced to prove it, they were not very guest friendly. First, if booking through Hotels.com, there is a mandatory resort fee. The front desk explained that this was for wifi and use of the resort car, which would take you free to spots within 2 miles. When we attempted […] to use this to get to the wedding we were in town for, it was not available. So we had to walk. Did I mention that the resort fee was mandatory? Even worse, the shampoo and soap in our room was dispensed with a pump attached to the wall. Thus you pay country club prices and get YMCA level bathroom amenities. Overall the hotel is nice, just not worth the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel in the center of it all"
Very good quality, great common spaces, good price compromise and very convenient. A welcome addition to Newport.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by The Hotel Viking - A Noble House Hotel Hotel Viking is centrally located in a walking distance to it all. We are pleased to see that you had a wonderful stay. Thank you for choosing the Hotel Viking.
Perfect place for a gay couple to feel comfy. Love the antiques and the setting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel staff from the start (I called before our stay to ask about details) and was bounced around to various people, "Hold please, Hold Please". Even sent an email that was replied to with generic information even though I was very specific. The front entrance staff was short on time it appeared and rushed you on. Depending on your location in the […] hotel, prepare for a LONG walk. Finding your way around and facilities within the hotel was hard to do, not much help around and the signs weren't very helpful or informative. The rooms were appointed nicely, clean and not very cluttered, bed coverings were of good quality. The bathrooms not so special, dingy even (but clean) and the towels were rough. There was plenty of items made available in the room but all at an outrageous price (not one item complimentary!) Seriously, a Kit Kat for $5! Bottle of water, $6! Room service was not on time and cold when it arrived. View was nothing to pay that much for. A small bed and breakfast for half the price would have been a much better deal. Response by The Hotel Viking - A Noble House Hotel Your entire visit was just not what you expected and although several things did work out, overall you didn’t have a good experience. We apologize for all that occurred and are sorry it turned out so poorly.
"Best location by far"
We were celebrating our 40th anniversary so decided to spend a couple df days in Newport. We had a wonderful time. This hotel had the friendliest front desk staff and the bar/restaurant staff were great. Aside from the smallness (and we were only there for 2 days so no big deal) we were totally thrilled we chose The Viking as our place to stay. Will […] definitely go back. "Room was too small."
While the staff at the hotel were all pleasant, their friendliness did not make up for the fact that the room was overpriced. The bathroom was hardly large enough to turn around in, and it lacked the standard amenities. The closet was tiny and filled with so many items, I couldn't hang a dress in it. The television was positioned on the wall beside […] the bed which meant that we had to turn sideways to view it. Granted it was a busy holiday weekend, but the room was definitely substandard for the money we paid for it. We will not return. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Service not what expected"
The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location. However, the service was not what one would expect of this hotel. At lunch the waitress disappeared and we had to find someone so we could pay our bill and leave. No one checked on us. Then, after the first shower, the water did not drain making it impossible for the next person to use it. When mentioned […] at check out, the employee just said "ok". Not what we expected after spending so much to stay there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel is close to everything; all mansions and cliff walk as well as shopping. As requested, our room had two queen beds only we had to walk about a mile to get to it. The room was very clean and adequate; only it was not worth the amount of money spent on it. My party consisted of two adults and our room was surrounded by families with 'loud' children. Response by The Hotel Viking - A Noble House Hotel We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. Our location in the heart of Newport puts us close to everything.
"Great hotel - great location"
We had a very nice time at the Hotel Viking on Memorial Day Weekend. The only negative was that we couldn't check in on Sunday until almost 4 PM (we were warned about that in advance however). Location is great - 7-10 minute downhill walk to the waterfront. Just far 'enough away so that the hustle and noise of the waterfront doesn"t disturb you. Service […] was great. The room was a tad smaller than I would have expected as an "Estate Room" on the higher side. Very nice however. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Hotel Viking - A Noble House Hotel We are a small boutique historical hotel in a fantastic location here in Newport. Our staff is happy to assist in making our guests feel at home and do so with a smile and helpful attitude. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
"Viking Hotel - Newport"
Nice hotel only 2-3 blocks from waterfront. Comfortable room, but in need of a few, minor cosmetic repairs.Genuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Hotel Viking - A Noble House Hotel Thank you for your compliments and suggestions. We are pleased you enjoyed your overall stay and hope you return again soon.
"Be aware of hidden fees - room is very small"
They charge $20 valet fee without telling you upfront (plus the $14 resort fee). The room was extremely small with a half bath which makes you feel like you're in Manhattan - given the price we paid! We were very disappointingly and will not be coming back for sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel in the Heart of Town"
The staff at The Viking Hotel are the friendliest and most helpful of any you'll find. Couple that with a clean up-to-date room, pool and common area and you've got a winner. This hotel is right in the heart of the historic district so you can walk to shopping and eating places. I loved this hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A grand old fashioned hotel!"
Overall, a great old fashioned hotel. Our initial room was very small, but as housekeeping forgot to make up our room after the first night, and they had left for the day, they upgraded us to a beautiful large room with fire place. It would be nice if the bar had some lounges as well as tables to relax. We stayed in the manor part of the hotel where […] plumbing is a little noisy and also housekeeping needed to be more quiet in the morning. But these were only minor details. Definitely worth a stay! "An elegant choice"
Our room was a bit small, but beautifully appointed and very comfortable. It was also, for the price, a steal. It's a nice location, walking distance to downtown Newport, just a block or two from the historic Tauro Synagogue, and a direct shot by car to the mansions on Bellevue Avenue. Staff was friendly and competent. There is no self-parking, so allow […] for a $20 daily parking fee. Valet service is quick and efficient. Nice bar, good food, beautiful pool and spa. Wish we could have stayed more than 2 days. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a lovely, lovely hotel. Even though it sits right in the main line of traffic to see all the Newport mansions, it was so very quiet no matter what the time of day. The staff went out of their way to be as pleasant as possible, which is impressive these days. The room itself was very nice, but I didn't necessarily find the bathroom to be spotless. […] It wasn't dirty, but the floor wasn't too clean, nor where the walls. Definitely not something that would prevent me from returning to such a beautiful hotel. "Will come back!"
This was my first stay at the Viking and will be definitely coming back. The staff was really nice and accommodating. They have a house car that can drop you off and pick you up which I found very helpful. If you want to walk, everything is within walking distance. Room was comfy, although on the smaller side. Definitely a bit on the expensive side […] though, I got a 'deal' and paid a little under $600 for two nights but the hotel didn't feel like a 5 star hotel or worth that much. Also, we had dinner at their restaurant one night and spent $100 on a soup for myself, an entree for my husband and a coupe of drinks (better off to go have dinner in town) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect .... but ...."
The hotel, the location and the restourant are great ...... but a wedding party kept us (two kids, my wife and me) awake till 2.00 am (after the second call to doorman)... "Would not stay here again"
You have to pay extra for parking and the hotel's wifi internet is terribly slow. The Queen bed rooms are extremely small and uncomfortable. We were told that complimentary breakfast is included in our room price but were asked to present vouchers for breakfast which we later found out that we were not eligible for. Pick the Marriot which is closest […] to the Newport visitor center for location convenience and better room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice little getaway to Newport"
Liked the hotel very much, would book again, especially in the cooler months with the access to the indoor pool when staying with kids. There was some peeling paint on the shower side of the bathroom in our 2000 area room. The sink is in its own room and the shower is in its own room with no alot of ventilation so it causes the moisture buildup. It's […] the only thing I could have pointed out to complain about- but not a deal killer by any means. Liked the decorations and furnishings, we'd love to stay again on our next visit. We read that we would be charged a $20/day in&out valet parking fee, but that never showed up (so far) on our check-out bill and that was a pleasant surprise. Maybe it's not charged in the off-season like Newport meters themselves? (Nov-April 30). Hotel location is a 8-10 min walk downhill to town (coming back after dinner the uphill becomes more noticeable). Overall great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We stayed at the Hotel Viking for one night last week on our 5th anniversary. The hotel was clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay, and a great breakfast in the dining room in a beautiful, historic hotel on Bellevue!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I brought my own wine glasses to enjoy a glass in the evening. Room service took them after the first night, I was unable to have them returned or replaced. Didn't blame the room service but thought the front desk could have been a little more helpful. Other than that our stay was fantastic.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old hotel in Newport renovated beautifully."
As the hotel was built in 1926 some of the rooms like ours) was small but beautifully decorated. You're only going to sleep and wash there so that is no big deal to us. The desk clerks were gracious and ready to assist with any questions or services you might require. The valet staff practically tripped over themselves to accommodate you and retrieve […] your car when needed. The bartender was very friendly and service was impeccable and fast. We did not try the restaurant in the hotel but the menu looked delicious and we promised ourselves to dine there next time. This is the place to stay if you're visiting Newport!
