Crescent City Travelodge - Crescent City

This place is a run down, smelly, old motel. Dont be fooled by the photos. It is certainly nowhere close to being a two star motel and one of the worst Travel Lodge. It will need a complete renovation to make it competitive in today's lodging market.

Service at the front desk was friendly, and helpful. They changed our room to a first floor unit upon request. The hotel was ok, good enough for a nights sleep. Beds and such were clean. Room had a slight odor... The additional bolt lock on the door was broken. It looked like it got tweaked, maybe someone tried to force entry at some point. The door […] still locked, but I had to make sure the inside handle was rotated in the correct position for the door to latch. On that note, I liked the safe in the room. It was bolted to the floor, and made me feel a bit better about leaving certain belongings behind when we went out for dinner. Breakfast was a very basic affair, with some fruit, and pastries. In order to get a low sugar, higher protien meal, I had to hit one of the surrounding restaurants. The location of this travelodge is close to a grocery and several fast food restaurants. Would I stay here again? Maybe, but I might look around for a nicer place, or a slightly better rate. Read more

I arrived at the hotel rather sick and craving my room. The girl at the front desk was incredibly helpful and friendly, got me all squared away. When the key to my second floor room didn't work and I came back to the front desk, she took one look at the luggage I was dragging me around and gave me a key to a room right by the front office on the first […] floor. Desk staff was friendly and hospitable, Room was musty and noisy (from street traffic). All the restaurants within walking distance of this motel were TERRIBLE, especially the Denny's. Recommend staying at another location nearer the harbor.

Crescent City is a small town and lodging choices are limited. This TraveLodge is old and shows its age. Loud noises and yelling during the night from a neighboring establishment. Desk clerk, an Asian woman,was cheerful and tried to be helpful but was very difficult to understand. 2nd floor room, no elevator. It's a travelodge not a four season's so expect a place to crash for the night, not a resort experience. It is right on the highway but conveniently close to the state and national redwood parks. The motel is quite out of date and accomodations are simple but functional. This was our second Travelodge on this trip but we decided to book Best Western and Comfort Inn for the rest of the trip. Travelodges overall are a good value but quite out of date. As we were on the move and mainly staying for the night, quality was not too important but even […] with that we chose to move up a bit. If I were traveling alone or with some other guys headed for backpacking etc, I would go for price alone but my wife has higher standards. This hotel was old, dingy and dirty. The carpet was dirty; things had not been thoroughly vacumed, and the people at the desk could hardly speak clear English. Further, the "breakfast" was all like cardboard.

The room was clean. The showere was fine. The staff was friendly. Obviously the place has been partly refurbished. We did not sample the breakfast. The room was too warm and there was no a/c. Noise from the water pipes and fans from other rooms were pretty loud and that made it challenging to sleep, as did the stuffiness of the room. No fridge and the free wifi was pretty weak. Close to the hiway and noisy traffic until early morning. Room was clean, hard bed but comfortable when your tired. A Denny's was close by for food. The room was disappointing small compared to other hotels we have stayed. I probably would not stay again.

It served our needs perfectly. So close to Jedediah Smith State Park, amazing redwood's. The restaurant right next store served fabulous fish dinners and salad bar. And the beach is just down the street. The hotel operates with old school methods and values which suited our family very nicely. We would stay here again when in the area.

This motel is not fancy, but the staff was very friendly. Rooms offer free WIFI, coffeemaker,microwave, fridge and hair dryer. Although it is located on main road and close to stores, it was quiet at night.

Staff greeted us warmly and offered to show us a room right away. Asked about our preferences and informed us of nearby amenities of interest to us. Placed small hand towels on our motorcycle seats so we could wipe them off in the morning - a very nice touch! The price was right, the bed was good and the room was pretty quiet. Thanks!

The reception and check in was very kind and efficient and helpfull - easy to find right on 101- near to great Redwood sightseeing and good seafood . It was of cause noisy and the room was o.k. and clean but not pretty.

Very standard roadside motel; cheap and easy. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Only complaint would be that the walls are rather thin so you can hear your neighbors pretty clearly. Staff was courteous.

Overall we enjoyed our stay here. In an excellent location, walk to shopping, parks, etc.. Not a bad place for the price. We just used the room for sleeping while exploring the area. One minor negative...no breakfast to speak of, bad coffee and a few doughnuts was all.

We booked this place because it was cheap and close to the Redwood National Forest. The hotel was older and in need of some upkeep, but clean enough. The management also was very helpful with recommendations for places to visit. The "bear bites" breakfast left a lot to be desired, however (bananas, apples, coffee, hard boiled eggs, bread).

Room included refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, across the street from a super market. Negatives were street noise, musty odor and hard mattresses. Still, better than average for this price range in a California tourist destination.
