The hotel itself was really nice. The location was not at all what we expected - business district, no close restaurants or bars. We walked to the Lightning Stadium (several blocks) on the coldest January on record...or so we were told. So much for sunny Florida??? The hotel room was very clean and the staff was exceptional. The hotel has a free shuttle, which took us to Ybor City after the game. We had to catch a cab back to the hotel ($11). The shuttle stopped at 11pm. If we go back to Tampa to see an NHL game, we would probably stay there again, despite the lack of surrounding businesses.

This was a nice hotel. The only suggestion I would make to those of you planning to use the provided hairdryer is that you may want to consider bringing your own. They are kept in a cubby by the sink that was dusty and the hairdryer collected alot of dust. Otherwise, the staff was extremely helpful and easy to work with. The food at the lobby restaurant was better than I expected. Great location for downtown Tampa business travelers.

This hotel used to be a Radisson, where I stayed in Feb. 2001. According to the hotel manager (who checked me in), Sheraton has put nearly $10 million in renovating the hotel. The rooms themselves were quite well done, with nice, contemporary furnishings, plasma TVs, etc. The hallways needed sprucing up, or at least some wall paper, and the ice machine (which was nicely hidden) was very noisy. The service was very good, as I had booked a king bed, but they didn't have any left at the rate I booked for. So the manager gave me a riverfront room at no extra cost, which I definately appreciated. The only drawback to the riverfront room, which has a balcony, is that being on the lower floors (there are only 4 floors), the first floor roof is visible, and is not very pretty. The room was very comfortable, at a good price, and had free wi-fi. The valet was quick, and they had unlimited in-and-out at no extra charge.

We picked this hotel especially because of the proximity to the Cruise terminal at Channelside. Which was very close, but not close enough to walk with all the luggage. The hotel promised a free shuttle, but were woefully unprepared. The evening we were there, there was a 45-60 minute wait for the shuttle. So we just walked to Channelside. On the day of the cruise, there was supposedly a 20-30 minute wait, but the shuttle broke and they did not communicate this to anyone and finally had a "pay-for-service" shuttle come and that company continuously tried to get us to pay for the shuttle when it should have been on the hotel. The communication on that side of the house was extremely poor. The hotel was great, staff was great INSIDE the building. If you are looking to this hotel to provide you accomodations and access to the cruise terminal, find a different hotel because they put our transportation at risk.

Everything exceeded our expectations! The staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful. Each staff member we came across went out of their way to assist, addressed us by name each time and made us feel like big shots. The valet service was great, and each time we got in the car we were asked if we needed help finding our location. The concierge was always one step ahead of us in making our stay more enjoyable. The breakfast buffet was a great deal, tasty and convenient. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful, we never needed to ask for anything because they were there before we could ask. Internet service was perfect up in our room, and I noticed there were even computers we could have used down in the lobby. My only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer and were only there for the Home Show at the convention center. (A short walk away.) So this means we'll have to plan a special trip to Tampa just to relax and enjoy the hotel's amenities. We never even made it down to the pool, but it looked lovely from our riverside view! My husband also enjoyed a 10 mile run around the town and said it was one of the most enjoyable routes he's ever done. He didn't even need a water bottle, the city has water fountains everywhere! Overall, I can't wait to go back again....I'm thinking maybe a week surrounding the Tampa Marathon!

However, every other part of the room needed improvement. The bathroom sink wouldn't hold water, the vanity looked like a couple of 2X4's nailed together and painted. The fixtures were either bent or completely broken. The elevators were annoying and made a scraping noise when closing and the buttons seemed to always be on the opposite side that I normally look for them. The hotel is 5 minutes from UT which is what I wanted but I would rate this a 2 star hotel based on the room and areas above the first floor.

We stayed a weekend for my birthday and booked a "Deluxe King Riverview". The good thing (if you're a smoker) is that there are private balconies on every room to go out and burn one. However, there are quite a few downsides. The "riverview" was obscured by some conference room that was apparently added-on at some point. You had to lean over the balcony to see the river. Then the rooms did not get very cool at night. The AC worked, but if you like your room cooler when you sleep >70 F, you will be disappointed. Lastly, the entrance to the hotel is right on a busy highway, and the only option when you pull into the circular drive is Valet. We weren't told of the $16/daily charge for parking the car til we checked out. There are nice PCs to use in the lobby though. The front desk staff are generally nice. But we probably won't stay there again.

The restaurant was unprepared to handle the volume of people from the conferences. We waited 45 minutes before any waitress would come to our table and a total of 3 hours from start to finish. The wait staff was unorganized, unattentive and not friendly during our Friday to Sunday stay. One of our rooms had dirty socks left in the bed from a previous customer and 2 other of our rooms had semen on the middle blanket. The hotel staff had to come up and strip the beds. No apologies were made and since there was conferences and hotels were booked up, we could not change hotels. I would not recommend this hotel and this should not be rated a 4star hotel.

The hotel is pretty nice, and is in a good location right by the river, so there are some pleasant views. There's a very nice pool, workout facility and restaurant. The only problem I experienced was the service when I checked in was substandard. When I first pulled up the valet guys acted as if they were a little perturbed that I wanted to park for a moment and check in before moving my car. They gave me a parking stub anyhow, which would later cause a problem at checkout, because I was charged for four days of parking, when I hadn't parked at the hotel at all. I parked a few blocks away, at the 24 hour Fort Brook Garage, which was a good move because it was half the price of using the Sheraton's valet only parking. Also at check in, I was issued a room that had only one full-size bed, when I was told I was receiving a king size. When I called down to the front desk, the woman still wanted to convince me that the bed was king size. Later, though, after speaking with another desk rep, I was moved to another room. Other than that, no issues, and I would stay there again.
