"Beautiful Modern Old Hotel in Downtown Portland"
We were happy to have a beautiful spacious room in a convenient downtown location. You can choose self parking or valet parking for an additional $34 a night. The lobby is very impressive and there is even an indoor swimming pool. They offer free drinks and hors d'oeuvres from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The hors d'oeuvres are not too impressive. In the mornings […] a free breakfast is provided which is very nice. I loved this hotel and may return but I can't believe they do not provide free wifi in the rooms. You can purchase it for a price. You can get free wifi in the lobby. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Center of Downtown"
Not bad. Room was nice and breakfast was good but I was put on a floor with a technology conference and wires, etc were in the hallways and I was traveling with two children. The bellhop said I was put there cause I was only staying one night so I shouldn't mind. Tell that when I repeated tripped over wires coming out of my room.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient downtown location"
Excellent valet service. Great breakfast. Ok rooms. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Celebrating my sons 13th birthday-came to go to some Diners, Drive Ins and Dives restaurants. Kids loved the pool. Nightly Happy Hour was fabulous!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Amtrak"
The rooms were great; hotel was clean. Lots of choices for breakfast; close to everything we wanted to do.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Too many takeaways."
For the last 10 years we have stayed there at least once a year. it is a classy property but you can't get by on looks alone! First they discontinued the hotel shuttle. Then they reduced the quality of beverages for their happy hour. Then reduced the time window for happy hour. They keep raising the parking fee. Dirty socks left in the room by the prior […] guests sort of topped it off! Hello Housekeeping? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great breakfast. fun pool area. Pool a little too cold though. Friendly and professional staff. Great managers special.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel in downtown Portland"
This was our second stay a this hotel. Very nice hotel in downtown Portland. I think the parking fees are a bit high. And we only had a King Room not a Suite. I must have booked wrong but overall a very nice hotel. We love the manager's reception and Marina your bartender was a sweet girl and can make a great drink. The lady making the Omelets in the […] morning was very good also. We enjoyed our stay and you are so close to Voodoo Donuts. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We loved everything. The hotel was beautiful. Great location to Vodoo doughnuts, pioneer square, waterfront, city train etc..The rooms were gorgeous and comfy. The evening free drinks were awesome(snacks would have been nice). Breakfast was also wonderful. Omlettes, eggs, meats, pancakes, yogurts, oatmeal, french toast yummy potatoes. Very helpful […] staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My only concern was parking was hard to find. It is on the opposite street and there is another parking building that is much more prominent but not the correct one. Other then that the stay was fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just one drawback"
The drawback: We got a room directly behind 3 elevators. Room #835. All night long you could hear them running constantly. We only stayed one night and didnt realize what the noise was until we were in for the night so we just decided to deal with it. When my husband mentioned it as we checked out he just got an "oh I'm sorry". I dont know what they […] really could have done, but these rooms on each floor that back up to the elevators really should have some sort of discount or you should be warned. We are not light sleepers, but if you are it could be tough. Everything else was wonderful! They have an evening reception with complimentary drinks and snacks and the breakfast included was top notch. No matter what you like to eat in the morning you will find it. I would recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel and location"
Stayed over July 4th weekend. Very impressed with staff....amongst the most friendly and helpful I've met in quite some time. Very clean and comfortable. Entire family had a great time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location and very nice!"
I stayed here with a friend in a 2 queen bed room. It was nice that there was an actual door separating the bedroom from the sitting area, and the wet bar was a nice addition as well. The beds were very comfortable and room was very clean. The lobby of this hotel is absolutely beautiful as it is in a historic area. The staff was very polite, courteous […] and helpful. The only negative thing I could say about this hotel was that upon returning to our room around 5, there was visible smoke in the hallway and a distinct smell of it. Concerned along with some other guests, we went back downstairs to inquire at the front desk. We were told that it is a normal occurrence on floors 2-8 (basically the entire building) due to the pizza oven in the restaurant downstairs. A concerned mother had called the fire department and upon checking it out, they were not concerned. The hotel staff opened up the doors at the end of each hallway on all floors to air out the smoke and we were pleased that none of the smoke had entered our room as we both had a headache from what we had already inhaled. Given this situation I still would not hesitate to stay here again, as a whole it was a wonderful experience and there were no safety issues present. The close proximity to the Saturday Night Market, Voodoo Donuts and Stumptown Roasters were also just an added bonus. Upon returning to Portland this will likely be where I stay again. Good overall. Hotel was packed but they run breakfast well. They are organized and well staffed in that regard. Sleeper sofa isn't very comfortable. Parking is expensive but if you're not going to move the car, the other lot across the street is cheaper(less than half the price) and easier to maneuver a car in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable I was at the downtown Embassy Suites. My room was very large, electronics were up to date and functioned well. Nice to have a mini fridge, sink, and microwave in the sitting room. Room service menu looked very good, although I brought my own dinner. The only slight faults I found were that I could occasionally […] hear people in the room next to the sitting room, and the bathroom had no fan. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Embassy Suites Portland-Downtown Thank you for your review and I am glad we “WOWed” you with our unique property! We have a lot to live up to with over 102 years of the Multnomah Hotel service and it’s wonderful to hear we are doing it! We look forward to your next visit and thank you again!
"Conveniently located near Portland's attractions"
You have to pay for wifi in the rooms, but it is free in the hotel lobby. Voodoo Donuts is only 2 blocks away! Only a 5-10 minute walk to downtown shopping and food truck lots. There were a fair number of homeless people in that part of town, but we didn't encounter any aggressive panhandling. Street car stops within 2 blocks of the hotel. Very friendly […] and accommodating staff--we arrived early with a mountain of luggage, and they rushed to get us into a room early. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good for families with older children..."
My husband and I spent a week with our 3 children (two 13-yr olds, one 19-yr old) in a 2 bedroom suite. It had 2 separate bedrooms with a foldout couch in the living room. One bedroom had a king bed, TV, and our own bathroom. The other bedroom had 2 Queen beds and their own TV. There was also another bathroom off of the living room. It is always a big […] problem to have 5 of us trying to get into one bathroom when we travel, so this was wonderful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice rooms, good staff, good benefits"
Embassy Suites Downtown tries very hard to be the best hotel it can be and for the most part succeeds. The free cocktails and snacks are really well done. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the staff is great. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are decently sized for suites (way better than the Hilton Executive Towers!). There are a number of food […] trucks, restaurants, and bars nearby. Unfortunately, there are also a ton of "street kids", ne'er-do-wells that are travelling for cooler Summer climes. If you can get out of the immediate area of the hotel and towards the West, it gets much nicer. Overall, a great hotel in a convenient but not great area of Portland (IMO). Response by Embassy Suites Portland-Downtown Thank you for the review, Michael, and I agree about our location. When it was built in 1912 it was in the center of the action and still holds true today! We look forward to your return so you can see even MORE of the city!
Can't beat the location and free breakfast/happy hour. Neither of those were super upscale, but they were FREE. Parade going on outside hotel made it hard to get around one evening, but obv not their fault. Had a great timeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Embassy Suites Portland-Downtown Thank you for the nice review and I am happy you were here during the Starlight Parade. Hopefully you were able to enjoy it as more of a "happy accident" than an "annoyance". We have been on the parade route for over 100 years and it's a very unique Portland Adventure. We hope to see you again in the future!!!

"Let’s Do The Time Warp Again"
We are cynical and shallow people. We’ve grown up in an age of conspicuous consumption and instant gratification and perpetual self evaluation. We are all sell outs. Consumer culture won. And it left scorched earth in the wake of its victory march. We should be honest here: Embassy Suites was not where we wanted to stay. We ended up at the Embassy […] Suites: the hotel we remember from AP Government trips to DC, or family vacations to Albuquerque. To us, you are the big box store of hotels. And we loathed you for it. But something happened this weekend. We don’t know how, but somehow you transported us. You attached our jaded preconceptions to a car battery and revved the engine. And, insodoing, you brought us somewhere else. Back in time, forward in time, sideways...we don’t know. But it was special. Embassy Suites Portland, we don’t know what you did to us. We don’t know if we will be ever the same. All we know is that you stripped away the hard veneer of modern life. You brought us back to a place we half remembered. A place we might have loved once, if things turned out differently. A place that, for lack of a more complete word, was home. It was our home. And we can’t thank you enough for that. For the dream world you created, we thank you. Now, when we wake, we cry to dream again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We have stayed here before and enjoyed it, but this time room was not vacuumed and breakfast room floor was very sticky. Their was a high school group of kids next to our room that was very loud until 1 am. Walls so thin we could hear everything they said.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place to walk downtown Portland"
Had a lovely experience at this hotel. The room was very well appointed and pleasant to stay in. We enjoyed looking out over the city...walking to the river...Voodoo doughnuts just down the street and being close to Saturday market. Had a nice dinner in the resturant and enjoyed breakfast also.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A little spendy for the size of the room"
Right downtown. Clean. Good service. Expensive however for the suites that are WAY smaller than in the picturesGenuine Expedia guest review
I've stayed here many times and have always been pleased with everything! My favorite downtown Portland hotel by far!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great room and friendly staff. Across from the farmer's market which was very convenient. They had a couple of parties there but you didn't notice. It was well controlled which I liked. The only thing I didn't like was for some reason housekeeping didn't clean our room during our stay. Had to ask for service and towels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Be prepared to pay for parking"
Great location, great city, great hotel. Had prom there one night we were there- very noisy. Paid arm and leg for parking. Close to chinatown, mall, riverfront, saturday market, voodoo doughnuts, and food trucks. There are bums on the streets, but we felt safe because of all the people walking about and at all hours. It was noisy at night outside our […] room. The police station is nearby and there were sirens going off frequently all night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We checked in to the Embassy Suites and were so pleased to be upgraded to a "conference room" It was huge. We went out to dinner, returned, watched a huge group of Prom attendees enter the hotel. After a while, we asked where the prom was: it was adjacent to our room! We had been upgraded to a lesser room. We did get moved, with a lot of pressure….and […] that room was one of their "green" rooms, which was quite nice. The breakfast was incredible the next morning. What we wondered, was why us? Actually, why anybody? Why put a couple in the room that's adjacent to a high school prom with a band? Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Embassy Suites allowed us to check in a little early so we could be ready for a 4:30pm wedding. The room easily fit 6 adults. The breakfast was fantastic as usual. There was a person in the lobby ready to answer any questions about what to go see in the area. I now wished I got her name. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Def will stay again!"
Going in, I had a few people raving about this hotel. The location was great, the amenities are pretty awesome, lived up to the hype. Staff was so nice - got a "good morning" or "hello" at every turn. I was a little annoyed w/ the front desk lady who during check-in, when I asked for room on a higher floor, told me the one we were getting was nicer […] as it looked out - she failed to mention it looked out on to the ventilation unit. I should've gone back and requested another but didn't. The room we had also had some strange humming that woke me up which sounded like water in pipes or the elevator screeching but I have ultrasonic bat hearing so that may just be me.
