"Sweet place to stay"
Rooms were very clean and the location is great. They have a nice bar with outside tables and a nice restaurant. The grounds are very clean with a nice beach. They are very dog friendly and there is lots of sand and water for the dogs to run.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Our favorite coastal retreat!"
We love staying at the Agate Beach Best Western. Our options are limited when we want to bring our Boston Terrier, Lily, with us on vacation, and because of that we discovered this gem of an ocean view hotel. Best beds ever! Clean, comfortable, elegant, quiet, and relaxing every single time we go. The beach is right outside the doors, and the view is […] spectacular, even from the pet-friendly rooms! Centrally located in Newport close to everything. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We had only an overnight stay. The hotel staff was excellent, and wehn we asked, we were given an upgrade to an ocean view room. A lovely place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"retreat at agate beach"
It was great. View was great. The weather was spring time at the beach. Room service food was above hotel food standards. We had a room on the top floor at the end so it was quiet. They did start vacuuming hall ways at 830 though, not a problem for us because we are up earily. Pool was good, a little run down but ok temp wise and fairly clean... the […] shower next to the pool never warmed up so you know that no one every showers before hand. Beach access was very easy and the fact that they will let you bring your pooch is a bonus. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Awesome place to relax"
This hotel is very close to the beach for walking on the beach and it has an indoor pool with hot tub to relax in after walking on the beach.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Relaxing and comfortable hotel"
This hotel is well maintained with ease access from the main highway and a very convenient parking area. Also behind a new Walmart if you need to stock up on anything.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Down the hill and across a road and you are on the beach. This was the best night's sleep we got on the road. Because it was a large, block hotel the room temperatures did not fluctuate and it was quiet. If you need to open your windows at night get a third floor room or above. Because of the slope, the second floor rooms are on level with the front […] parking. Great in house restaurant! If we hadn't been so tired we might have made it to the lovely indoor pool and jacuzzi. Next time I will book an ocean view. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This was our second BW Plus hotel on our trip through Oregon. It did not disappoint. It is located right on the ocean with a beautiful big beach. The staff greeted us with warmth and professionalism. We were directed to parking area on a hill above the hotel where we could enter the hotel via a bridge (walkway) to the 6th floor. Upon entering, you immediately […] see the Pacific through large picture windows. A nice touch. Our room was on the 4th floor with a partial view of the ocean. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast the next morning in the hotel's dining room situated on the 1st floor with windows overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed the stay! "Lovely Hotel, Convienently Located"
I stayed 2 nights with my Mom for a weekend coastal getaway. We both were very impressed with the Hotel, Location, and staff. The room was great with a Wonderful bed and soft pillows. My only downfall was the location of our room in the hotel. We were on the floor directly below a catwalk that came from the main parking area into the hotel. Other than […] that it was a great place and I would definately recommend it and will definately stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very comfortable and conveniently located. . ."
Very nice accomodations and a great beach for walking, kite flying, sand castles; you name it. It would be nice if they offered continental breakfast with the stay, but the location is super and only minutes from everything you want to see. Definitely a hotel we will keep in mind for a return trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
we enjoyed our stay. We liked the short walk to the beachGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"On the Beach, but needs updating"
The location of the hotel was great. We were able to walk to the beach. The hotel itself is outdated, but appeared clean. We were disappointed that breakfast was not included as it was in all the other Best Western's we stayed at on this trip.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
great as always. Only suggestion is that because of the trees surrounding the property, it is a little hard to see when you are traveling south. You don't see the sign until you are already past the turnoff. I don't recall this issue in prior visits. Excellent service and food in the restaurant was very good. Only a short walk to the beach which is […] very enjoyable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A wonderful, uncrowded beach and pet friendly made for nice stayGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We went for the Seafood and Wine Festival. Hotel was nice and clean. The bed and pillows where very comfortable and staff was super nice. My only complaint would be the staff in the hotel bar where not very freindly at all! Slow service and a very rude waitress.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place on the beach"
We enjoyed the beach view and access. This hotel was a good choice for a stopping point on a long trip. The facilities were in good repair and clean and the service was friendly. We'd use it again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"mold in room"
Found mold on ceiling by sliding glass door. You can not see it away from the door since a valance hangs down in front of the door. Also the sliding glass door gets condensation on it & the door track on the inside of the room. Ceiling recently scraped & white residue on valance by door. Ceiling by door behind valance still old "popcorn" style & looks […] terrible especially with mold on it. Bathroom is cramped & the beds ar rock hard. Will spend more $$ next time & upgrade to a nicer hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful Overnight Stay"
09/15/14 Sandra H Salem, Oregon
My husband and I enjoyed the last night of our mini-vacation at the coast by staying at the wonderful Agate Beach Inn. The room was large and pretty and the bed was the most comfortable of any we have ever slept in away from home! We relaxed in the swimming pool and hot-tub while enjoying a beautiful view of the beach. We had a delicious dinner brought to our room and the service was great! We look forward to staying again.
"Tucked away in beauty"

We had a clear ocean side view of the Pacific while tucked away in the Pines. Beautiful beach stretched for miles of white sand and the surf was awesome as the Sunset. We arrived early afternoon and had lunch under the patio umbrella. on the patio overlooking the Pacific. Rooms were very sufficient size to have friends join us for chit-chat. The sounds of the ocean at night made for great sleeping. The Gym was very conveniently located off the lobby. This property is worth revisiting

A great place just North of town, situated on the bluff with gorgeous ocean view. Rooms were very nice , clean & well appointed. Bed was very comfortable, only complaint was I hate a blanket on a hotel bed in place of a duvet style. Just off the Hwy., but nice & quiet day & especially at night. Just a moments easy walk to the beach.
"Nice location, but only ok hotel"
09/13/14 Paul L Prescott, Arizona
Yes, it was a rather warm weekend and we made reservations late. We were given a room on the first floor and facing away from the beach. Unfortunately, it was also located above the kitchen and the room was very hot. No A/C, so we could only open the window for ventilation, but that offered no security and anyone could just climb into the window. Hotel provided fans, but no help. Finally, we requested and were given another room on the 5th floor with patio doors facing away from the beach. Again, no security as one can easily climb from one patio to another. They need to re-think this place. They charge for the breakfast. Next time, I will seek another hotel.
"Nice, but noisy."
Really nice hotel and really nice room. Our room was on the lobby floor. I put "noisy" in my title because it really is. Every time a door is closed in the hall our wall shakes. And every time a door closes it echoes and is very loud. People walking through to go to the pool were very noisy. I recommend bringing ear plugs. So glad I did. Other than that the front desk staff were very nice and we had a nice experience. I booked a hillside view and instead got a parking lot view. Kind of a bummer also. Better luck next time.
"A Welcome Relief"

This was a last minute hotel change that I had to make due to unacceptable conditions at a hotel where I had made a reservation and Isaac - at the front desk - took very good care of me and gave me a lovely room that was much cleaner and better equipped than where I was supposed to stay. It is a bit out of town but once you get there it is lovely and right across the road from a very nice beach. This is a very good quality hotel with a staff of caring people. I will stay here again.
"Not as good this time round"
09/09/14 Lesia R Victoria
We love staying at this hotel as they say they are dog friendly, which they are to a certain extent. You can't take your dog to the restaurants which we understand but they have a patio deck outside where the dog is not welcome at all. There is room to block off part of the deck so people could actually utilize the outdoors and have a cocktail and not worry about there dog being stuck in a car or in the room in a crate, which we dont use as we have a super well behaved dog. Happy hour drinks still aren't a great price and the wine selection is not good. this is Oregan and they don't serve good wine. Get rid of your pinot gris and bring in some good stuff like King Estates or Ato Z or Acrobat. Also the cleaning person thru my pillow on the floor and left it there when she was done cleaning.

Our "view" room was over the noisy outdoor sports bar and set back so we saw cement wall on the left and a little ocean then trees on the right side. Nothing special. Made the mistake of going to the Sports Bar for drinks and appetizers before dinner. The bartender was not a people person, had trouble understanding "a gin martini and a gin and tonic, please." Seriously he had to ask three times if we wanted the same drink, did we want gin, etc. Really odd. We ordered the 1/2 pound, six dollar, shrimp cocktail and got a glass dish filled with really brown lettuce and far less than a half pound of shrimp. Not appetizing at all. It was a Wednesday night, not busy, and should have been a piece of cake for him to be personable. We tipped six bucks for each round of drinks but left after two rounds to find better appetizers and a friendly bar in town. This is one of the worst last resort places to spend your traveling cash.
"Great for families"
09/08/14 kermt13 Oregon City, Oregon
We stayed there since its close to the beach. The staff and housekeepers were really nice and accommodating. We had requested a extra pillow and blanket for our baby and they were in the room when we arrived. The only negative we experienced was at the restaurant. Some of the staff were definitely not kid friendly. We chose a table in the corner as to be away from couples. One of the servers was seating a couple and pointed at our table and asked the couple if they wanted to be near a child. Like god forbid we bring a 15 month old into the restaurant. Added to that I had to leave with the baby as the waitress took forever to give us our bill. Poor service if you bring your child!
"Awesome Hotel on the Beach"
09/08/14 Adrian Z Debary, United States
Stayed here twice for a small conference. Internet response was awesome, catered and in-bar food were great. Bed very comfortable. Sliding glass door has a security feature which allows having the door open a few inches, but secured from opening any further; allows for sleeping with the door open to hear the sound of the Pacific Ocean on the beach at night. All staff I encountered were pleasant and very helpful. To plug in your cell phones, tablets, laptop for charging, you'll need to spread the devices around the room, unless you charge them by USB/laptop. Room decor is not as important to me as to others. This is not a posh Marriott room, but it's not spartan either.
