It is a fabulous hotel in the nicer end of the strip in South Beach, could not fault one thing about it. Would definitely go back!

Location location location...absolutely outstanding! For the price it was okay. We stayed in one of the un-renovated rooms which was disgusting. The carpet was so bad we did not remove flipflops in the room. The bathroom was quite awful. All pictures of the rooms on the website are of renovated rooms. Our first trip to South Beach was fantastic. Walking distance to shops and restaurants on Lincoln and Ocean. The hotel was under renovation but was not a problem. We stayed in a cabana room by the pool. The room was beautiful, very clean, and the view was wonderful. No coffee maker or self-service ice. For the amount of money paid, the service was NOT to part. Room was outdated and overlooked the construction. Paid for a cabana and the service was awful. Asked for delivery to the room prior to arrival as a surprise and no delivery when arrived. Total disappointment. Better hotels around the are with much better service.

First night A/C didn't work and the fan sounds like a train when it is running. The bar appears to have stock but when I attempeted to have a drink the vodka bottles were all empty! Overall the service was excellent. The staff was most helpful and courteous. The amenities (pool, restaurant, bar) above average. The location was as expected (very good). However the room was dark, the bed uncomfortable and the in-room air system inadequate and noisy. I would consider revisiting once the re-modeling is complete.

Perfect location for a short getaway to South Beach. Spend the extra money and upgrade to the Cabana Room. Great view of the pool and partial view of the beach (if you're up high enough). Room was clean, spacious and the balcony was nice. Convenient location - just about everything was walking distance from the hotel.

I never write reviews but this was a disaster and I have to share my experience. I've been and stayed at the National many times. I have a condo in Miami Beach and was staying there while the rest of my extended family stayed at my place. So I thought the National would be a good idea because I can bring the kids the the pool, etc. They are undergoing […] a major renovation and the place is a ghost town. There was literally plastic covering my exterior window due to the renovation. It was a full blown construction site. They were not apologetic at all. Please check if the hotel is under renovation. The first room they gave us had no view at all and the second had the windows covered bc they were painting outside. Please be advised that this hotel is currently remodeling, so there's plenty of noise, especially in the morning. The rooms are pretty standard, no frills. The staff was great; very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect and is right on the beach. The pool was also very nice.

The hotel was under serious re-construction (apparently since October through to February). I would not even call it maintenance as the entire main portion of the hotel was being sanded, re-cemented, entirely new windows and the entire interior of the hotel was dust laden. I regret our stay at the National. The hotel was being remodeled and we were given the room right below the floor being worked on. On Monday morning we were awaken by a drill and hammering...at 8 in the morning!!! We were forced to wake up and have breakfast elsewhere because the construction noise was everywhere. We moved - after complaining - to another […] room away from the main building where you didn't hear the noise ( why didn't they put us there to start with?) In a 3 day stay...having to pack an unpack twice and not being able to sleep in the morning is just unacceptable! Ah! This is a beautiful hotel. The only thing I was dissappointed in was that the entire facade was stripped for renovations. It is the off season so I understand why they are doing it now. On the plus side you can not hear the work being done anywhere in the hotel. The newly renovated cabana rooms are gorgeous!

The location of the hotel was great. Staff was wonderful. Room was poor. Bathroom was very small. Smell in the hallway was awful. I really think they did not change the sheets, just made up the beds. Did not replenish face towels everyday. Air condition was very noisy.

Needs a complete renovation in the main tower. Started out in a tower room which has not been renovated since the 80s. I complained and they did move me (complimentary) into a Cabana room which was much nicer. Service throughout was excellent but if I hadn't been moved to another room, I would have been quite miserable.

There was construction on the upper four floors of the main tower of the hotel that was a little annoying, but we got over it after our first drink. The drinks are extremely well made (go see Luis at the pool bar). Happy Hour is everyday from 4-7, but be prepared to spend a bit of money on drinks. Really, that is the case anywhere in South Beach. The stay was OK- due to basically just using the room to sleep and change clothes then be out for the duration of the day. I found that the bathroom was very outdated. The toilet was that of a public restroom toilet a large turn off. The shower only having half of the glass was very awkward. Towels were were old and some even stains. There was construction going on the floor right above me. The noise really got annoying. food was pretty expensive like $12 for a fruit platter. The service wasn't bad pool was nice and once you step out the back your on the sand. Overall great experience.

Once the renovations are complete it will be wonderful, but had some morning "upgrading/renovating" noise and a little scary looking on the outside with windows boarded up on the floors undergoing renovation. The service is great but I was displeased with the room, mainly the bathroom. I found The bathroom a bit small and the bathtub didn't seem clean. When you take a shower the water didn't drain which left water back up to your ankles. The room had a "stale odor" and for a luxury hotel (which is stated on the website) this should not be the case.
