For the money it was well worth it. The hotel staff was VERY nice and pleasant. It was clean and affordable and great location next to a gas station and restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy and reasonable"
This is a reasonably priced hotel. We found it easily traveling on a 2 day trip from Georgia to central Illinois. Would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected."
Though I booked a room for pets through Expedia Americas Best Value Inn in Marion, IL, didn't have that record so relocated us to a smoking pet room with two beds instead of the king bed/nonsmoking room we had reserved. No smoking smell was there though the room had been "overwhelmed" with cleaning materials to cover it up. The hot water was luke warm, […] the heater was set up to work on a motion sensor so that meant when we were asleep it didn't work. It was near zero outside so it got a little chilly inside. The motel as in dire need of remodeling. Staff friendly and helpful with requests. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good place to stay and well priced"
Got worried when I saw the bar next door (rough crowd that night). But once in our bedroom (building behind) it was surprisingly really quiet. Your stay will come with a token for a free beer at the bar next door (FYI: IT IS ONLY FOR BEER!). If you need a night to rest while doing an 18h drive, this is the place! Price is right too!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just a newer Bates Motel"
Our family was driving home to Colorado from Florida, and this was just a pit stop. As we pulled up, there was a girl getting arrested in the adjacent parking lot and there were 4 cop cars. There is a liquor store attached to the motel, which seemed to attract some interesting people. I am far from a snob, but this place is somewhere not suited for […] families with small children. The room smelled of carpet powder, furnishings were very dated, towels were like sand paper, and NO hot water for showers. This is just the perfect example of getting what you pay for. Stay on the other side of the highway--the area is much nicer and the motels that cost more are well worth it. Luckily, Norman Bates' mother didnt make an appearance that night! "OK, but you get what you pay for."
We stayed 2 nights due to needing to be in Carbondale for a graduation. We knew going in that this was a low budget hotel and only needed someplace to lay our head at night. The staff is excellent! They were very friendly and extremely accomodating. However.... We were on the first floor. The room was very humid and had a funky old smell. It was clean, […] the beds were very comfy. And we were not charged extra for the 1 1/2 inch water bug that was climbing the wall. The staff took care of it quickly. They did offer us another room but my husband did not want to move. The hair dryer did not work. Ok well I lied, it worked for 5 seconds and then promptly overheated. The toilet was clean but the seat was extremely loose. Made for interesting potty time. If in a pinch I would stay again, but only if there were no other choices. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I expected something better after checking the rating on the website. The room was generally okay except for a few problems. We stayed in a pet friendly room. For the $10 fee, we had a laminate floor that was dirty. A few steps and we picked up a considerable amount of dirt particles on our bare feet. The room smelled smokey even though we were staying in a smoke free room. I spent the night fighting with the fitted sheet. It was quite obvious from the beginning that a full size fitted sheet had been stretched over the queen sized bed. Of course the sheet didn't stay in place. It showed very little concern for our comfort. I would recommend passing on this place.
My daughter and I were on our way home from a Florida trip. This was the first time I have stayed at an Americas best. I was impressed. The pet friendly room was very clean. There were laminate floors instead of carpet. Very good idea. I was very happy with everything. The breakfast was very good. The only thing I would change is the milk for the breakfast. It would be better to have milk cartons instead of milk in a coffee craft.

We were on the way to Chicago and stopped here. The location was good. As we entered the hotel front looked good. Desk clerk was friendly. Room was clean, had a good odor. We slept good. With the price the stay was affordable. Swimming pool was clean and warm.

I stayed there on January 11 2014 and I think this is a good place with the price. Location was convenient. Room was decent, smell good, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was fresh with biscuits and gravy, eggs, bagels, cereals, Muffins. Staff was very friendly.Overall my stay was pleasant.

We booked this hotel through Hotwire. We paid through Hotwire. When we checked in, the desk clerk asked to run our card again "It's policy" A few minutes later we checked and the hotel had also charged our card. We contacted the manager/owner and he eventually reversed the charges. The room they gave us was filthy, had a yappy dog next door, and the room light was burnt out. We asked for another room. It had a working light, but it was also filthy. Hair on floor of bathroom, in bathtub, and dust bunnies under and on top of everything. Not a pleasant stay in any respect.
"Better hotels on other side of freeway!"

This is becoming all too typical of America's Best Value Inn. Place was nice enough looking on the outside but was run down and pretty dirty on the inside. Marquee on the sign out front advertised weekly and monthly rates...usually not a good sign; many day workers present milling about open motel doors into the evening. Room was OK but really basic; it was quiet after workers retired for the evening. We travel with a pet and were given the "pet room" which consisted of laminate floor making the room very noisy and cold feeling. Motel is co-located with a bar and party store. Desk clerk was correct however...could not hear any noise from the bar. The area is pretty run down compared with the "other side of town across the freeway". Did not try breakfast as a glance at the area revealed a less than basic offering. Went back across the freeway to McDonald's. For the money, much nicer accommodations can be obtained for just a few dollars more.
"Great hotel for the price."

i travel daily for business, so needless to stay i have stayed at 1 star and 5 star hotels nightly. America's Best Value Inn is worth the price you pay. The decor in the room could use a fresh update, but its not a deal breaker for me. I want a clan hotel room, and that is what they offer. All areas - pool, lobby, rooms, hallways - were clean. The hotel breakfast was fresh and a nice ammentity. They offer cereals, eggs, biscuts & gravy, breads and fruit. The rooms have a mini-fridge and microwave, and have fresh clean sheets & bedding. Worth the price and will return.

We had reservations at another hotel and best to Americas Best Value Inn in Marion by mistake. Noted how nice the lobby was and the lady at desk was. Left to locate our hotel which was a dump and returned to Best Value Inn. Easy to check in, spotlessly clean room, with nice large pillows on king size nonsmoking room, 101, the mini fridge was nice and cold, had a micro wave oven.....room not stuffy, but did turn on the air conditioner while we went to eat supper....room was warm. Room very quiet, good dark drape for those who worry about outside lighting. Breakfast starts at 5:00.....yes, even the scrambled eggs were hot as I got there at 5:15 as I was up early for a morning walk.....head to the Goddard stone/marble church in the city cemetery which is open, beautiful building with stained glass windows. Nice place to meditate before walking back to the hotel. The breakfast has ice cold real orange juice, and also cold apple juice, also there are bagels , hot sausage gravy and biscuits, cereals and milk, bananas, toast, and some pastries....not allowed to take food from breakfast area. The friendly owner's daughter promptly restocks the breakfast bar. We will be in the area in a few months....AND WE WILL DEFINATELY return to this hotel. Clean room, good parking, attractive flowers, clean sidewalks, good towels, good lighting. comfortable bed, comfortable and clean arm chair........just what we wanted, The location is easy to find, close to the interstate, can see hotel sign high in the sky.

We wanted a cheap place to sleep and this was it. You can have inexpensive but clean!!! Everything in the hotel was dirty and shabby. The people working the desk seemed oblivious to the filth. The breakfast was very unsanitarty the way it was served. Couldn't wait to get out of there won't be going back!!!!!!
