I booked this hotel for my students who were attending a conference at Belmont University. It seemed to be a good value for the money. While I did not stay there, all of my students gave it a good rating. However, I had an awful time keeping the guaranteed reservation I made for the 3/27-29/14 stay. After calling and informing the front desk that my […] students would be arriving late on Thursday night (actually 1:30 in the morning), sending a faxed guarantee to use my credit card (neither of my students had one), and getting assurance from the clerk at the front desk that she would make a note about the late arrival, LaQuinta did not honor the reservation. Instead, since it was early morning, they used the single night reservation I had made for another group of students on 3/28, put them in that room, and cancelled my two night reservation. I had to scramble and call the hotel and after a heated discussion with the manager, was finally able to get a second room for a higher rate. I will not plan to use LaQuinta again. "Satisfactory Stay But..."
I choose La Quinta when visiting Nashville typically due to their convenient location with respect to the airport and their pet policy. I visit my daughter there and it is convenient for her to come to the hotel with her dog while I'm there. The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. I stayed in a room 2 rooms down from one that had been recently flooded but did not notice any adverse smells but still felt that wing should have been off limits until that room had been completely dried/disinfected/cleaned. We got two full size beds on nonsmoking room. However, the hallway was reeked of smokes. When I asked the front desk if I can move to nonsmoking area, they said the area is nonsmoking. I booked a reservation online for a one-night stay at this hotel. I've stayed here before and it's fine - convenient, reasonably priced and clean. We were traveling to Nashville for a state cheerleading competition, so it was my daughter, my mother and me - so I reserved a room with 2 beds. It was confirmed via email. When I got to the hotel, it took […] forever to get checked in because they were training a new person - no biggie. I went to the car, got my family, all of our luggage and proceeded to our room. Walked in the door - one bed. I called the front desk and said they would have to change me to the room I reserved - one with 2 beds - and she said, and I quote: "We can't change your reservation because you booked it online." And I replied, "Well, obviously you CAN change it, because I reserved a room with 2 beds, and you CHANGED it to a room with a single bed." I was then told that there were no more double rooms. Most of the staff were friendly. Our room was clean. The deadbolt on the door was not useful though as it was just dangling by a few screws. We booked through Expedia and it seemed like the hotel staff was annoyed by that. We were flying out and I misunderstood the free parking verbiage on the website. We had to pay a nightly rate to leave our car there. […] It looks like they have corrected that info on their website now. They do have park and fly packages, but those are not offered through Expedia. And because we booked our stay through Expedia, they wouldn't offer us that package. The free shuttle to the airport is nice but limited to a certain timeframe. Another misleading fact on this website. We got in at 11:15pm and the shuttle stops at 11pm. We had to pay for a taxi. After spending the extra money on parking and the taxi, we probably could have stayed at a nicer hotel that offered true free parking and a 24 hour airport shuttle for the same amount. The room was nice and updated. Only a couple of minor things that need attention. The wing hallway where our room was located was way colder than our room temperature. This made a trip downstairs for breakfast a bit nippy. Also our coffee maker did not have the replaceable drip tray for the coffee filter packs so no coffee in our room that first morning.
