"surprisingly satisfying, had a good nights rest"
I stayed one night, midweek for $80 usd, and I'm satisfied with the value. Let us begin with the cons; it was dingy and stained on the outside (inner city grime), it was on a very busy street, it seemed worn in, and the rooms were a bit small, there were stains on the carpet. The pros; the bed/sheets/room were generally clean aside from visually wear […] and tear, the mattress was a soft pillowtop mattress, the front staff was incredibly helpful in helping me find tourist attractions and providing helpful tips, there was a fridge in my room, the bathrooms were in the room, there was ample parking provided by the motel, and the area generally felt safe. I stayed with my elderly mother, and we walked to Walgreens a block away at 10 pm at night and felt safe. We enjoyed the continental breakfast with toast, milk, and coffee. We noted there were families and international tourists (couples/groups) who were also staying there. Overall you get a good deal from this motel if you overlook that it is slightly older. Just like an old favorite sweater- it might be worn, and stained, but still comfortable and keeps you warm. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A bit noisy, given all the inbound traffic from the Golden Gate Bridge. Room was pleasant, but don't expect 4 star finishes. Good parking. Convenient to good restaurants and shopping in Marina. Decent value in the context of increasingly costly alternatives in San Francisco.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very impressed with hotel. Although it looks slightly rundown on the outside, I was very pleased with our room. We were on the third floor, which was a king bed, had a balcony overlooking Lombard St. and on a clear day you can see the tips of the Golden Gate Bridge. Some of the other reviews stated that it was noisy, we had no problems with the noise. […] I would stay here again in a heart beat, the Marina district is a fun place to stay, and another great quality about this hotel is it has FREE parking. "Inexpensive for S.f."
However, would've been nice to have fresher paint, a cleaner rug, cleaner stairway and hall, and at least yogurt for breakfast. Good location.Genuine Expedia guest review
Parking is free and we felt it was secure enough. Close to GG Bridge. Easy bus service around town. Hotel was inexpensive considering the town. My wife is very fussy about sheets. These were good. Stayed three nights. Would do it again seeing as how I ain't rich.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel at a good price."
Hotel staff was very friendly and attentive. The room was clean. We liked that it was in a nice area and very close to the Golden Gate Bridge and most other attractions. We didn't have any issues with the parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable, clean and convenient"
Having never had any previous experience with this particular hotel I was very pleasantly surprised how clean, comfortable and convenient it was. Free, on-site parking was also a plus and the staff was professional and courteous. The most important things I can say about my stay was that I received full value for the price I paid and I would definitely […] stay there again if I was in that part of town. "Nicely renovated hotel"
From the outside, this hotel is pretty dated and "plain jane," but they've done quite a nice job of renovating the rooms (at least room 212 was well-done!). For a San Francisco hotel room, ours was very spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. It included fridge and coffee maker, and also free wiFi. and ample free parking. The new-ish bathroom tile was […] lovely, but could use some finishing touches around the shower door. Bedding was very comfortable. The hotel is on Lombard (101), one of the busiest thoroughfares in the city. But our room was on the back side, and was probably the quietest one we've ever had in a city famous for street noise. La Luna offered a lot for the money, and we will definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very Bad Customer Service by Manager"
I did not cancel this reservation in time. Was charged one night stay for two rooms. I have no problem paying the penalty. However, at initial booking I paid for extra guests in both rooms. Since it was a no show, I should only be charged for the basic rate excluding any additional occupants. I called the motel several times, the manager named Bo refused […] to talk to me. She will only communicate through the front desk clerk who told to call Expedia. Expedia called on my behalf to no avail. I disputed this charge with my credit card company and they refunded the amount after 90 days since the motel never bothered to respond to inquiries from cc company. "Good Place to Stay"
Front desk was very friendly and very helpful. Room was nice and generally very clean, the window screen in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Great location to Chestnut Street and Marina District. Lombard is a very busy street so not the most quite place to sleep, but not bad. We really enjoyed our stay and very friendly service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bed was comfortable."
Room was nicely painted however it was not refreshed. Carpeting worn and dirty. Fan was extremely loud.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clean and convenient - enjoyed stay"
Enjoyed staying here. The room was clean and the hotel was convenient - walking distance to Union and Chestnut street (shops and restaurants) as well as the Marina. Love long walks in the morning and this was a perfect location for that purpose. The room was cozy and had the same feel of staying at a friend's for a few days.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I'm fine with that"
Added night after arriving because other plans weren't going to work. Told me I'd have to move to different room so I packed up. When I came back later to check in again, the guy at the front desk asks if I wanted the same room again. Maybe if you didn't make me check out of out earlier.Genuine Expedia guest review
My boyfriend and I went to San Francisco just to stay the weekend and we chose this hotel because it's hard to find free parking in the big city. I couldn't have been more pleased with it! The staff was very polite and got us checked in/out with no problems. No noise issues, we slept peacefully! The water pressure in the shower isn't very strong and […] the pillows were a bit hard, but I think for the price it was very reasonable. We would definitely stay there again! "Close to the Embarcadero/Waterfront/Wharf"
Hotel staff is friendly enough. Like alot of hotels, the cleaning staff doesn't get behind the beds, dressers and little nook areas that collects dust and to me, there's nothing worse... The beds are comfortable. There's that other thing about cleanliness, the carpets are borderline....making it "iffy" to walk barefoot...Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good but problematic"
We have stayed at this location often for more than 15 years. Neighborhood, access to public transportation and friendly staff are pluses. Room has always been generally in good shape heating good. Breakfast is ok. Little things like noisy bath fans, temperamental shower controls, overheating/stopping hair dryer, and the need for a little carpet freshener […] would improve the experience. Liked it. Pretty basic, no frills, breakfast in name only BUT loads of free parking, (A HUGE bonus anywhere in SF Safe upper class neighborhood (border of Marina and Pacific Heights) though on buy and noisy Lombard, a main arterial, lots of tourists - VERY friendly helpful staff. Typical motel. Nice point is it had free parking which is rare in SF and that's the reason I picked this hotel. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. "Hotel La Luna"
Good hotel location for the Marina district. I love the walk around so it was perfect for me. Divisadero street is nearby, lots of restaurants, boutiques and bars on Chestnut. "Loved it with one exception"
When booking a hotel in San Francisco I always look for free parking and wi fii, La Luna had both. I was impressed with how attractive and clean it was for an older hotel. There was even a refrigerator in the room. Shower only, no bath--OK with me, but maybe not you. Iron & board, hair dryer. Complete! I did not try the breakfast, can't speak to that. "Very noisy due to close location of Lombard street"
If you are unlucky to have a room facing Lombard Street, I hope you are not in this Motel to sleep. Even more true if you are on the ground floor and your neighboor on the second floor is moving a lot in his room. The only good thing is the free parking but it is too expensive for what it is...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was ok. All you're paying for is the location. Breakfast menu sucked. San Francisco is one of the few cities where I would pay this much for a hotel and expect so little in return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quality does not match price"
We were shocked when we entered our room. The pictures on the website looked much nicer than what we experienced. We were tucked into a corner near a "broken" ice machine. The walls were paper thin and we could hear the people upstairs at all hours. Problem was the hotel is "old" and hasn't been updated in years. We wouldn't have minded as much if the […] price had not been as high as the Wyndham hotel we had stayed in the night before. We definitely expected much more for that price. "Clean no frills and great location"
We had a pleasant stay at the hotel. It is no fancy but it was clean and the location was great. Free parking and wi-fi are a bonus and the tour bus pick ups are only a few blocks away. Convenient location for walking to the marina or the piers and when we were tired a cab home was about $10. We had a back facing room on the third floor and the room […] was large. Our friends stayed in a first floor and it was tiny in comparison. Check-in time was strict. We showed up 30 minutes early and could not check in but they did store luggage for us and we just headed out for some sightseeing and checked in when we got back. Also free breakfast which was coffee, toast, oatmeal, juice, apples and oranges. Fine for us but it was busy so don't wait until the end. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not nice enough for the cost."
The room was quite small, smelled musty when we entered. Turned on the air and it was better. No setup for the coffee pot: had to move the TV stand and unplug the TV in order to plug in the coffee pot. Had to balance the coffeepot on the TV stand to use it. Not Satisfactory to my liking. "Great location, but needs help. Super loud."
It was an awful day just getting to this hotel so, quickly finding out that the fan in the bathroom let out a very loud shrill sound while the light flickered was not the icing on the cake. The staff sent a serviceman up who just looked at it and said it needed replaced. The desk person stated she was sorry but that it would not be replaced until the […] follow day. Mind you it was only 5pm. There were no other rooms, but it was offered to switch rooms the following day or have it repaired. There was no offer of a light. She simply stated well the light works. Well who wants to listen to loud squealing while using the restroom/showering?? The fact that the staff did not report this was unbelievable as it was. Then the next morning we took ice cold showers. We reported the issue that morning before leaving. When we got back and asked about switching rooms we were told at first there were no vacancies but to check the fan. we mentioned again about the cold water amd eas told to go check it out. water was still cold. when telling the desk man that taking another cold sheer was unacceptable, he said we could switch and they'd give our room to those who hadn't checked in. Really who does that? We ended up staying. The water did finally warm up after 20 minutes. It got abnormally hot so on the last night we tried to use the ac which only acted as a fan. No cool air. The bed was comfortable and bathroom clean at least. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I would not stay at ths hotel again."
I was very disappointed with this hotel. When I booked the hotel the pictures online made the hotel appear to be very nice and clean. The hotel is very run down. The parking facility and the lobby were dirty. Also, I am Type 1 Diabetic and when I booked the hotel online I requested in the "special accommodations box" that I need a refrigerator in my […] hotel room to keep my Insulin cold. When I arrived at the hotel to check in the staff at the front desk said that they never received my special accommodation note when I booked the hotel and that I would have to pay an additional fee per night to be upgraded to a room with a fridge (even though it was not my error). The room that we stayed in was very dirty (stains on carpet, scratches/marks on walls, and a large crack in the shower). The room’s windows and walls were not insulated very well so it was really loud in our room. I could hear traffic all night and people talking in the room above us and next to us. I was very disappointed with the breakfast that was served. Breakfast was juice, coffee, toast, fruit, and oatmeal. The fruit was only apples and they were mushy and were not washed. We ended up having to get breakfast someone else each day. Although the price of this hotel was a little cheaper than other hotels nearby, I would not stay here again. For only a little bit more money I could have stayed at a lot nicer hotel with better breakfast options. I would not stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location, Convenient"
La Luna Inn is conveniently located near bus stops going to the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and Downtown SF. The #28 bus going to the GGB is across the street and takes about 12 mins. The #30 bus stop on nearby Chestnut St. is the beginning of the line, so you can grab a seat before it fills up with tourists. Make sure to take a walk along […] the Chestnut St. retail village. You'll be inspired to move to this ultra convenient neighborhood that has everything: restaurants, cafes, bakeries, markets, banks, boutiques - even two small movie theaters! The hotel itself is no-frills but clean and comfy. Basic cable with no PPV movie channels. Our room was small, but it did have a very comfortable queen-size bed. We could hear occasional traffic noise, but the comfort of the bed had us sleeping like babies nonetheless. In the morning, the lobby hosts a very simple breakfast of toast, oatmeal, juices, coffee & tea (also available all day). There's a Walgreen's across the street stocked with travel toiletries, medicines, and a vast selection of snacks, microwaveable meals, and beverages. You won't go wrong staying at La Luna Inn - the convenience of this location is amazing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The only reason I stayed here was the location close to the marina and the America's Cup race as possible.
