Shinjuku Prince Hotel - Tokyo

Great place to stay everything is at your doorstep. The room was pretty small but it is fine for 2 people. We were up on the 22nd floor great view especially at night with all the lights. Close to the Golden Gai the people were friendly and helpful but thats Japan in general :) would recommend this hotel to friends.

I was traveling alone -- my first time as an American in Japan -- and, as I rather expected, my single room was quite small. For example, there were no drawers for my clothes, and there were only two hangers. An iron and ironing board were available upon request. The room was quite clean except for the fact that the shower curtain had a faint smell […] of mold. Internet access speeds were quite good (around 10 mbps wired). The staff was quite polite, and their English abilities varied. The hotel is at the edge of Kabukicho, which Wikipedia presently describes as "an entertainment and red-light district in Shinjuku, Tokyo." Hotel rooms in Tokyo are tiny by American standards, unless you're willing to spend really big bucks. We opted for a smaller room with two beds, instead of one of the larger rooms (almost twice the cost). We slept well, although the size reminded me a bit of a cabin on small-boat cruise. ;) The Shinjuku Prince Hotel is about a 10-minute or so walk from […] Shinjuku Station. The hotel is adjacent to Kabukichō, the so-called red-light district of Tokyo -- but it's pretty tame and very safe by American standards. To the west of Shinjuku Station is a calmer area. The Prince has free wifi only in the lobby area, but there is a Starbucks next door (second floor at the Seibu-Shinjuku Station) with excellent wifi, but you need to register (free) before using it. Front desk help was good, but I didn't have any complicated questions. Overall, I would stay at the Prince again. BTW, if you're coming from one of the airports for the first time, take the airport limo bus -- much easier than trying to navigate the maze of Shinjuku station when you're tired after a long flight. We had a great 2-night stay at the Shinjuku Prince. Within a block of the train station. Tons of restaurants nearby. Don't let the dated lobby fool you, the rooms are modern and nice. One complaint is that I booked a room for 2 people and got a "single" room, which was VERY cozy for 2.

I booked this hotel wanting to be right next to Shinjuku station after getting off the train coming from Tokyo station and leaving on the the airport NEX train the next day. But actually this hotel is a good 5-7 minute walk from the Shinjuku station, so I was quite surprised. If you don't have a lot of luggage, it should be quite convenient because […] you're right in the action of the neighborhood. Make sure you exit through the East (Central East) exit if you arrive at Shinjuku station on JR trains because the station is massive and you have to walk around a bit if you don't. The room was clean and it had a great view of the city. The room size is the standard for most rooms in Japan, it shouldn't be a problem unless you have a lot of bags. There is no hot water heater in the room, so you have to walk to the hot water machine next to the elevators if you want some. It was fun because I got to enjoy a bigger view of Shinjuku through the large windows next to the hot water machine but if you're coming from the end of the hall or like making tea a lot, it could be annoying. Shinjuku Prince was a perfectly fine place to stay. We ended up in a west facing, standard double, non-smoking room on the 16th floor that looked out over the train tracks directly into a huge, bright billboard. Transportation: Easy access to the Tokyo Metro and JR train lines. You never even have to go outside to reach the platforms!!! That could be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on your travel style. Staff & check-in: The little interaction we had with the staff was perfect even though the lobby is located in the basement and is very dated. We were very happy with our stay at Shinjuku Prince. From the Shinjuku station it is about a 4 minute walk and easily accessible. It is close to the nightlife of Shinjuku and we were able to take many walks through the downtown area to observe the interesting restaurants, bars, and other activities. Feels like downtown but isn't as crazy to get around […] as Shibuya. We arrived at 11pm and were very hungry. After we settled into our room, we asked the front desk staff for a recommendation and they gave us a map with the different parts of the neighborhood laid out. We easily stumbled upon a wonderful sushi restaurant where we were able to eat our first Sushi in Japan at 2am! The city is alive and thriving at that hour and it was neat to be a part of it even though it was so late at night. We would DEFINITELY stay in this hotel again and highly recommend it. Read more

The hotel is a B hotel, breakfast buffet was so so but cheap, the rooms are not perfect but if you are there for business or shopping, you get up go breakfast and out the door. you come back you use the bathroom sleep and then up so for that its fine. no coffee in the room.
