I stayed on the third (top) floor. It was very quiet even though the hotel was quite full. The bed was comfortable and the coffee maker, though small, worked well. The blow dryer worked well but as I had brought my own I used mine. I didn't make use of the continental breakfast but it looked sufficient. The pool and spa were fun. Towels were provided.

very friendly staff. The hotel is older but the room was clean and comfortable. Will definitely stay again.
Location.
Situated in Salem, Shilo Inn Suites - Salem is close to Oregon State Fairgrounds Pavilion, Salem Armory Auditorium, and Oregon State Capitol. Also nearby are Chemeketa Community College and Willamette University.
Hotel Features.
Shilo Inn Suites - Salem has an indoor pool, a spa tub, and a steam room. Wireless Internet access is complimentary in public areas. Business amenities include small meeting rooms and audio-visual equipment. A complimentary breakfast is available. Additional amenities include a fitness facility, a sauna, and laundry facilities. "Comfortable room"
We stayed here on our way to the Willamette Valley for a day of wine tasting. The room was comfortable and spacious.

"Big rooms!"
Very good choice for the area. Rooms are quite large w/ fridge, coffee, etc, bed comfortable. Breakfast is a little sparce - mostly breads and cereals. Pretty hard to find any protein. And whenever I was in the lobby, the TV was running FOX News. I could sure do without that over breakfast. Otherwise an excellent stay.

A good choice for a traveling family. Spacious rooms for the price with a small kitchen area and separate bathroom/sink area. Rooms were clean. Friendly staff.

The room was nice and spacious. Clean and price was affordable. Im there for business once a week and I blieve I will be there again. The location is convenient and central to Salem if I need to go downtown, north or to south salem or just hop on the Freeway to go visit customers in Eugene.

We loved our spacious room with separate sitting area. It was handy having the refrigerator and the microwave. The breakfast was substantial and had a decent amount of variety with at least some healthy choices. The easy access to I-5 made it easy to get anywhere we wanted to go. My husband and I stayed for one night in the king Jr suite, great price for a big room. Very comfy bed. The breakfast in the the morning was amazing, they had something for everyone. I didn't get use the pool because of maintenance but we will definitely stay there again.

This hotel served all our needs. It has easy access to the freeway, has individual heat control and has seperate areas for sleeping and work activities. The staff was courteous and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to others.
"Excellent stay"
I made this reservation very last minute and just for a 1 night stay. The staff at the hotel was accomodating and friendly. They went out of their way to help me during my time there and even upgraded my room without me even asking. Would stay there again!

The stay was wonderful, staff friendly. Only issue was bad quality phone in room, but reported and maintenance notified right away. Room was clean, bed very comfortable and close proximity to shops and restaurants.

Basic hotel accommodations. Because I booked through hotels dot com I could not take advantage of other discounts and so forth. The hotel should be working with HDC to make customers feel welcome. "Very noisy even at 3am!"
Only 1 person at desk at check in. Very difficult when more than 2 or 3 people showed up. Hot tub and dry sauna out of order. Not well marked. Lots of noise of people running/taking in hallways past 11pm and people even getting in at 3am and making lots of noise waking us in the unit below them. Quiet safe place. I was so comfortable I over slept and missed breakfast waking up at 11:30am. The staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

My 74 year old mom and I stayed at the Shilo Inn last weekend (Sunday 2/19/12 thru Tuesday 2/21/12). The service was very friendly. We arrived late, the weather was rainy, and we were hungry. But the desk clerk gave us a warm and friendly greeting and recommended the Pietro's Pizza Parlor next door (try the Taco Pizza - it's yummy!!) We got our pizza […] to go and when we returned she found us some paper plates and plastic utensils so we could eat in our room. Our two queen bed room was very spacious and could have accomodated a third bed! It included a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee-maker, computer desk, and a couple chairs. The TV was suprisingly small and tube-style (not a modern large flatscreen provided in most hotels), but everything else made up for the small TV. The entire hotel is clean and comfortable. The discount offered thru hotels.com made this place cheaper than the La Quinta down the street and a much better value! The Shilo Inn's complimentary breakfast is an upgraded continental that included hard-boiled eggs, make-your-own waffles, bisquits w/ gravy, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, toast, bagels, juices, milk, coffee, tea. The hotel room and bed were very comfortable and the pool/hot tub was open til 11pm. I was horrified the next morning when I saw how filthy the toilet was. We got in late, changed and went right to the hot tub, without really paying attention to the room. We were tired and didn't look when we got back to our room either, but in the morning I noticed […] brown streaks on the back of the seat and the lid of the toilet (not from us). The sofas in the foyer were shabby. The coffee table all banged up. Signs in the elevator and outside were chipped. Garbage cans by the elevator cracked and dirty. I just got the overall feeling that updating was needed. Breakfast was disappointing as well. My daughter was playing in a tournament and needed some protein. The only protein was meat in […] the gravy. Icky! The room was nice and clean. We were comfortable. TV seemed to be old & outdated. The people at the desk where very nice but didn't seem appropriately dressed. The am shift had on dark, faded sweatshirts. The man working seemed very sick or injured not sure. The service at the Shilo was outstanding. The woman at the desk was very friendly and went out of her way to assist us. My soldier son and I stayed Dec 22nd, we were on our way home to California coming from Ft. Lewis, Washington. The room was quite comfortable but the heater was a bit loud. It was in the low 30's and we needed the heat but ended up […] turning it off. The breakfast was nice. Typical waffles, continental style, good coffee. The fruit is my only complaint. The bananas were bruised and the apples looked unappealing - small, dull and old looking. Same for the oranges. "Don't expect much and you'll be fine"
As long as you don't have high expectations your stay will be great. It's a 2 star hotel with fairly outdated rooms, but it's cheap and they have a nice pool & hot tub plus it's got a free breakfast.

"Allowing pets very much appreciated, but..."
The Inn we stayed in allowed pets, which we really appreciated. The "pet" room we were assigned, however, was on the fourth floor which was awkward as we were traveling with a six month old, large-breed pup and his large crate. He is housebroken, but required a couple of trips out during the night (probably due to the strange surroundings, he sleeps […] through the night at home) which were also less convenient from the fourth floor. There was no designated pet area to walk him in--only a couple of small areas with cinder-rock at the corners of the parking lot, which he was hesitant to use. It would be a nice touch, in light of the substantial pet fee charged (quite a bit higher than the other hotels at which we stayed), if the hotel could indicate the pet walking area and provide some baggies for pet waste. The room was very clean and quite comfortable and the staff were nice--we would stay there again but I would try to get a first floor room if possible. I would actually probably try to locate a similar hotel with a lower pet rate, though. Read more

I wish I had not picked a hotel online. The photos online were amazing. Yet once I arrived I almost turned around and left. After getting into my room I was horrified the furniture was old outdated and so firm it was not worth using. The blankets were not warm enough for the night. Overall good stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. The only complaint besides an uncomfortable bed which I always have problems with was we found little white hairs all over our bed spreads and couch. Pet friendly room? We should have been told at time of reservations. Wouldn't bother us too much except we all have really bad allergies. The continental […] breakfast was poorly set up and not well restocked.
