Room was ready when we arrived. It was very clean, and nicely decorated. The only down fall was we did not have a comfortable chair to sit in. The staff were friendly and very accomadating to our needs. The food in the Mark, and the sports bar was excellent. My hat off to the chef. Have used this motel before, and will use it again.

The location was excellent, I rented the room for me to stay after NYE's party which took place 2 blocks away. This hotel has been around awhile, so building and decor is a little dated, but the rooms are clean and spacious, and we'd definitely recommend it as a place to stay. Very reasonable. Not alot of other amenities immediately around the hotel, but plenty within a short drive. Grounds are nice with a large courtyard, fountain and pool area in the middle […] of the building complex. Front desk staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Room price includes a complimentary hot breakfast--you can choose from 3 different breakfasts off the regular dining room menu. If none of those appeal, you can choose another item, but will pay a small additional cost. Although we didn't eat any other meals in the dining room, we were very pleased and surprised at the quality of the breakfast--we chose one of the complimentary items, and everything was cooked perfectly and was tasty; the dishes were your basic breakfast fare (nothing too innovative), but we both agreed that it was one of the best-cooked breakfasts we've had in a restaurant, in that the dishes were well-executed (eggs cooked just right, etc.). We had a "family meeting" in the dining room on our second morning at the hotel, and the staff was very helpful in giving us a place to meet that was a little more private then being appropriately attentive while also giving us space to have the needed discussion with minimal interruption. Definitely ask for a renovated room; we stayed in a double queen and it was fantastic. Toilet seat was loose, and we had to call staff to help fix our cable box which was making a static noise; other than that, top condition and very comfortable. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The security & safety of the hotel should be improved. Anyone off the street can enter the building 24/7 & rooms have keys (not electronic cards). Safety was a high concern when I returned to the hotel after dark.

My Stay was Horrible. he front desk person when I walked in was not very atentive and when he gave us our keys assumed I had been there before Which I had not and seemed that he hadmore important things to do than pay attention to a customer. The overall pictures were great. I booked a room with a view of the court yard. When I got to my room, I realized my view was a corner view of the pool and not the court yard. The room was dirty the lamp on the wall was crushed, the un-vacuumed carpet was old and stained. The TV was an old fuzzy relic. The night I checked in was election night and I […] am a political nut. I complained and got moved to the same room on the other corner view of the court yard. I waited until the shift change of the receptionist desk. I complained gain and finally got a newly remodeled new section of the hotel. Third time was a charm for me!!! This was a wonderful room and everything was nice. Housekeeping could use a pep talk. Large ball of what appeared to be cat hair mixed with other vacuum bag remains greeted me from the middle of the carpet next to the bed. Melt water from previous guest's ice bucket had not been emptied nor plastic liner replaced. The bathroom was reasonably clean but my general sense was that the room had not received […] a thorough cleaning. Bed was comfortable, water pressure was good. this appears to be an older property showing signs of wear and tear which might be more easily overlooked if confidence in cleanliness was higher. Attached restaurant is convenient. Waitstaff very attentive, but I was alone in the dining room. food was mediocre for dinner. complimentary breakfast from a very short list of options was hot, freshly prepared and tasty. We have stayed at this hotel many times and the key is to request a remodeled room. The updated ones are like a 4 star hotel while the ones that have not been renovated are shabby with old uncomfortable mattresses etc and more like a 2 star.

Very friendly, helpful check-in. Clerk did not know that there is no parking where she drew on the map that "this is the best place to park", I don't think she had been to the lower parking area. Lovely fountian area. BUT the room had not been vacuumed (we could tell by the number of hair clips laying on the carpet AND THE DIRTY TOWEL IN FRONT OF THE […] PATIO DOOR!!!) We stayed at the Shilo as a stop off point on our way to the Oregon Coast. Like a lot of Shilo's, it's old and in need of major upgrading. It has the feel of a 1970's basement remodel with dark paneling and rundown carpets and the accompanying smell. That said, the service was great and people were friendly. We enjoyed the complementary hot breakfast […] for our whole family and they have a lovely fountain courtyard. The surrounding neighborhood is a mix of high-end car lots and "gentlemen's clubs" on a busy 4-lane street so be cautious with families. Even though it was one of the most affordable hotels we could find in this area of Portland, I don't think we'd stay here again because of the condition of the hotel. Read more

Everyone was beyond nice; very efficient and extremely quiet. The fountain in the pond in the center of the property was lovely and provided a very soothing waterfall sound. The beds were so comfortable!! I slept GREAT all five nights of my stay. Unfortunately I don't live any where near Portland so staying here on a regular basis is not feasible but […] if I lived within a three-hour-drive radius of this hotel, I would consider a weekend stay several times per year. The hotel looks nice from the outside but is not on the inside. First they gave us two keys and only one worked and we had to giggle and wiggle in order to get our room. Then they tell you to dial 0 if we need anything well our phones didn't work so we were unable to call for room service. Then we sat on the bed and it tipped because it had come unscrewed […] from the wall, and on top of that when the bed lifted up an earwig scampered out..... Very friendly wait staff. Delicious free hot breakfast. Fun karaoke in the bar. Only drawback was that our room, which I requested a ground floor room, was about 1/2 mile from the main building and we had to walk many flights of stairs to get from our room to the restaurant for breakfast. Otherwise, we had a great stay.
