"Tiny room, tiny bathroom"
Not satisfied. Elevator broken, terrible wi-fi (free), very small room and probably the tiniest bathroom I ever saw in a hotel. For an overweight person is almost impossible to use the toilet.. Skip the breakfast: eat outside, better and cheaper.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small but manageable rooms - walk to Grand Central"
My stay at the Pod on 51st was good. The rooms are certainly small but I was there on a business trip and really just needed a place to crash for a reasonable amount of money. I had a corner room which offered two windows and they opened so I had natural light and fresh air! I was also in the back of the hotel and it was quiet. It was an easy 10+ minute […] walk to Grand Central. One pet peeve, there was only a sheet and very thin blanket on the bed - would have appreciated something a little more substantial. Room and linens were all very clean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Excellent value, it's no frills but a great deal for those on the go! Clean, modern and convenient!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I expected much worse. I very carefully scanned for bedbugs and was very happy to find clean mattress as well as sheets. Remainder of room was also quite clean. Heat was cranked to 100 degrees when I entered, but I was able to open window and adjust the heating unit directly to set for comfort. I'm 5' 11" and managed to fit on the bed OK. I had bunk-bed […] room and chose top bunk and it all worked out. Stainless steel sink in room was very convenient and modern, with good hot water and nice wash towels available. $164 for one night with all taxes and fees, which is about as good as one can do for mid-town East. Very close to the 6 train for $2.50 access to anywhere in Manhattan. I would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy like a sailboat cabin"
In a good way, I felt like I was nestled in a small cabin on a large ship. Furnishings were modern but spare. I used a shared bathroom/shower, which was clean and there was never a line for it. Almost all of the hotel patrons I saw spoke a language other than English, which was fun. This is a good inexpensive option for staying in the middle of it […] all. "perfect hotel location and amenities"
We were satisfied with our stay. It is a small hotel, but we were pleased with it. Location is perfect with easy walk to subways. Very nice short drink and food menu. Great place to enjoy the city and keep expenses in line.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect micro stay"
I have always meant to try the Pod in midtown. Im really glad i did. Its a great deal for what you get.clean, quiet and comfy tiny room... Its great to be in a place that rents you a tiny room at the price of a tiny room.. Not a tiny room at the price of a big one. I will stay there again !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I almost found my go-to hotel for when I'm in the area for business. Almost. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well located. Yes, rooms are small, but as a single traveler I found the room to be just fine. The sink in the room is a big plus, and the shared bathrooms were kept clean and available every time I needed them. The big downside (and what […] unfortunately keeps me from considering this as a go-to hotel for my NYC trips) was that 2 out of 3 of my showers were arctic cold. I don't know if others had this problem. I can get past the shared bathrooms, but the cold showers just ruined my experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very convenient location at a reasonable price"
The hotel is nicely decorated and in a very convenient location, very lose to a metro station. It was a bit noisy though due to the people staying in the dorms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean, well located place. If you don't mind small quarters and a shared bathroom, this is an incredible value I the heart of Manhattan...With free wifi as well!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Blocks away from Time Square!"
My wife and I stayed at Pod-51 for our 18th anniversary and were amazed with the value received. It is about a 10 minute walk to Times Square, 20 minutes to Central Park, 5 minutes to Rockefeller Plaze, in other words close to all the main attractions. The surrounding neighborhood feels safe, there are restaurants and diners within walking distance, […] a grocery store right around the corner, etc. We loved every minute of it! My only complaint is there is no parking so expect to pay $49 plus tax for each 24 hour period at the parking garage across the street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I like it"
I have stayed several times at the POD 51 when I have been in town for business and needed an inexpensive and clean hotel. The hotel is great, bathrooms clean (I always do the shared bath), beds are super comfy and pillows are great. The location is a little far, but I stay for the price and I would stay again. I brought my husband this time and he […] liked it too. I will probably try the other location on 39th next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good neighborhood clean SMALL no soundproofing"
The hotel was very clean and design is contemporary. We were in town for the marathon and doorman told us we could have desk call cab for us in the morning. In the morning front desk person said they couldn't do that. Room had everything we needed but was tiny. No moving around space at all. Unfortunately soundproofing was non-existent because after […] running the marathon we were repeatedly awakened by a very drunk very noisy woman staying in one of the rooms on our floor. The size of the room I could deal with, but the noise was unacceptable. Worst part is that I called the front desk about it at 4:30AM and as far as I could tell no one came up to address it.. "Cheap and clean"
The rooms are extremely small, but the location is good, clean hotel and WiFi works. It is a good place especially for a short stay in Manhattan. Shared bathroom is ok, when you have 'traffic lights' in your room, but sometimes in the morning, the bathrooms can be busy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay!"

"Good deal in New York"
The hotel was well-located in NYC so it was easy to get around. The hotel receptionist was flexible enough to extend my reservation twice for the same price. Great experience !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If you want to use wifi, don't stay here."
The wifi did not work. I stayed at Pod 51 three nights, and the wifi did not work for five minutes at a time. My computer would connect, the connection would be incredibly slow, and before a page would even finish loading the connection would disappear. Very frustrating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great value in mid town"
Pod 51 is a great place to stay for value minded people who want a clean place and to perhaps meet some people. The gatherings in the lobby were great. The room was clean. The service was great. I'll definitely stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tiny rooms, great location"
Don't be fooled by pictures, the rooms in this hotel are like ship cabins. If you are traveling alone and do not have much baggage you should not mind the size, and this hotel has a great location, close to a subway station and half a block from neighborhood restaurants and a supermarket. Enjoyed it. Stayed in a bunk bed room with shared bathroom and found it to be perfectly adequate. Slept like a log. The location was pretty close to subways and Rockefeller Center, walking distance to Central Park. Would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Loved Pod 51!!"
We loved Pod 51! The decor as soon as you walk in lets you know this is a different hotel. Our room was perfect given the small amount of time we spend in hotels when in NYC. The bunk beds were extremely comfortable and the shared bath was very close by - and SO spacious! We also loved the communal lobby and the food was quite good. The location was […] very convenient to subway, 5th Ave, and Times Square, and there were several nice cafes and restaurants nearby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
the room was very small, but also very efficient. Everything folded up, rolled up, or otherwise fit inside of everything else. Storage under the bed, towels rolled up and put in a small space under the sink, etc. The wifi was terrible, though. They say "free wifi" but it's next to useless. Too many wireless access points available contributing to network […] congestion and an inability to stay connected for more than a minute. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location location location at great price"
Easy walking distance to many places including MoMa, Rockefeller Center, NY Public Library... Ess-a-Bagel is just around the corner. E train station to JFK is 1 1/2 blocks away and has escalators all the way to the platform (from JFK, sit towards rear of train, take long escalator up to subway station turnstile, go into a business/shopping center, take […] their escalator to street level). We had a 2 twin bunk, shared bath room. Room was tight but not to complain at $150. Beds were comfy even for my husband who is a choosy sleeper. Our room and common bath rooms (on the 2nd floor) seemed older than other upper floors but they let us check in before 11am so must have been what's left. The bathroom was always open when we needed one. (We showered at night to avoid morning rush.) Next time I will bring toilet seat covers and flip flops for the shower. The bathroom only had one hook. My light tote bag plus a plastic shopping bag came in handy for clean and dirty clothes off the floor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good for a quick stay"
I did not know that some rooms have a share bathroom... Not god!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room is quite small but knew that ahead of time. Chosen for affordability and combined with friendliness of staff, locale, cleanliness of room and support services hit a home run. One point. "Pleasant and convenient"
Very charming hotel. My small room (I had a single) had all necessities ingenuously arranged, and it was very quiet. Baths down the hall, but it was very private. I never even saw another person in the corridor. Very close to a convenient subway line and a helpful concierge and other staff. Nice breakfast the next morning -- lots of interesting Europeans […] to chat with. Many reading books. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect space outside of tourist infested Times Sq"
Pod 51 is everything I wanted and needed out of a hotel. The building is only a couple of blocks from the E, M, and 6 train- perfect for getting to Brooklyn, downtown, HK and yes- the dreaded Times Square. There are several restaurants around the hotel as well, though I didn't use any of them. There's a Dunkin Donuts for the requisite morning coffee […] inside the subway station, and a bank located close by as well. Don't let the idea of a shared bathroom scare you- these bathrooms are CLEAN. The showers are fantastic and I never waited for an available bathroom or shower, not once during my four day stay. The room has plenty of storage space to put away your luggage and clothing to free up more space and the room temperature was perfect. The bed was comfortable and the room is nice and quiet- something difficult to come by in NY. I cannot wait for my next trip to NY and Pod 51 will be my hotel of choice until I finally decide to sublet an apartment. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok, but not for everyone"
Very nice neighborhood. Maybe my favourite one. The hotel is nice and modern. Subway only 2 blocks away and nice supermarket half a block away. The people working in the hotel were always very nice. But I think the price I paid was a little bit too much considering that the room was so verry tiny and that there were 4 bathrooms to share per floor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Just what was needed for my stay"
My stay was pleasant, clean, comfortable, quiet, safe and restful at Pod 51. Free wifi included, of course. Breakfast available downstairs at a fair rate. "Great location, not for claustrophobics"
Hotel is exactly as described -- convenient, clean, and staffed with friendly people. Not spacious, not a lot of frills, but perfect if you just need a bed for the night. If you're used to sleeping in a submarine, this would be perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is nice, the rooms are small but that is the concept. I stayed in a 1 room with shared bathroom.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The place was ok... their is no AC in the hallways so it gets fairly stuffy and hot, but there are individual AC units in the rooms. I had a single, and it was a decent place to rest. The rooms were cleaned daily, which was nice, but I did find a dead cockroach in the middle of the floor upon my return one night. The Wifi was not as dependable as I […] wanted, connections dropping, but it was free. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is walking distance to mid-town, MOMA, and Times Square but in a great east side neighborhood. Many restaurants and shops right around the corner on 2nd Avenue, incl. a 24-hour diner (Morningside). Hotel staff friendly and helpful, plus concierge on-duty to assist guests. Rooms are compact but comfortable. Great value for the location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location - Cramped Quarters"
The hotel is located in a great area, close to where I needed to be for work, but the room was truly the size of a closet and you share bathrooms with everyone else on the floor - not just a few rooms. Aside from that, the windows don't open and the A/C wasn't working properly. Hotel staff were NOT helpful with this. I think that for what you get, the […] price should have been less than what I paid ($180+). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I stayed here for our 3 year wedding anniversary. It was a surprise trip for her and we had both never been. Service was nice and polite and the room was clean and tidy. The best way to describe it is like a cruise ship. VERY close quarters. I'm a small guy but have broad shoulders and I had to turn to get into the bathroom area. Overall, […] we didn't spend much time in the room (we were in NYC!) and it fit our needs perfectly. An added bonus is we could leave our bags with the bellhop after check out and hit the city one more time before we came back to catch our train. "location, nearby restaurants, price"
We chose this hotel based on location and price and were very pleased with these factors. It is basically an upscale hostel, but with all the amenities of a competitive hotel. The rooms are arranged using space frugally, but they have all the necessary conveniences. The beds are comfortable. The concierge service was well informed and helpful. The hotel […] cafe was adequate and reasonable. The only objection was that the wi-fi was very unstable and slow. It was never available in our room, but our companions in another room found it available now and then. The staff was always helpful and satisfied any need promptly. "Has all of the fundamentals, great location"
I really enjoyed the POD51 Hotel. I stayed in a two twin bunk room with a shared bathroom. It was quite small, but very organized and clean. Really, perfect for the two of us. Each bunk had it's own small light and TV with basic cable. I actually really liked the shared bathrooms, 2/4 on the 3rd level were quite small. They all have rainwater shower […] heads, and it feels really nice after walking the city all day. One shower was backlit toward a window, which projected my silhouette out the window... that made me a bit uncomfortable. The location was great! A block from a subway entrance, and walking distance to many of the city's sights. I'd stay here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
