"Very nice"
Pool and hot tub were great after a long day or hiking the south rim.
"Perfect for the Night"
This hotel was perfect for the night. We were on our way back from the Grand Canyon and it was a perfect place to stay. This is a small property and conviently located right off the freeway and a block from the Grand Canyon Railway. The staff was very nice and the rooms were clean. It was nice to wake up to the smell of waffles cooking. Overall experience […] was very good and I would recomend it to friends. Read more
Average room. We rode the Grand Canyon railway, so this was an inexpensive alternative to the GCR hotel and only a block away.
"Williams"
The this was a very good value motel. Everything was more than acceptable for the price.
"great"
My boyfriend and I stayed there after a long day at the grand canyon and we liked it. Very clean and well kept, great breakfast, nice pool and hot tub, nice neighborhood. I would definitely recommend it to others.
"flat pillows"
Pillows flat and hard. When I asked for other pillows I was first asked my room number. I got the impression that I was told no because I of the discount price. Spent 2 nights and had to clean out the coffee pot from old coffee and grounds I had made. Price was reasonable for the area.
"Stay somewhere else In Williams AZ"
Let me just say that the owners of the hotel are very sweet people but very cheap. The towels are paper thin, the air conditioning shuts off when the temp reaches 70 degrees, there is no hot water for showers in the morning, in room coffee is "brown water", continental breakfast was a small area and most of the equipment did not work, the beds are rock […] hard, the entire hotel has an odd cooking smell, they did not make-up our room the second day until 5pm. The up points of the hotel are the kindness of the owners and staff, the convenience of the location to the Grand Canyon Railway, lots of parking, the rate was reasonable and the area is very quiet. We waited until a week before our trip to make reservations so many hotels and motels were full. There are not many choices in Williams but if you go you really should try to stay elsewhere. I hope the owners try to make improvements. Read more

"Great Value!!! Awesome Cont. Breakfast!!!!"
I have stayed here before. Since I had a great stay last time I made another reservation. This time there was snow, so we made due to the heated indoor pool and jacuzzi while we watch the snow fall outside. The hand made waffle machine was a hit with the family! I would recommend this place with high regard!
"Williams,AZ"
The room was clean; the pillows hard. The heat was utrned on high so the room was very warm. The continental breakfast was the poorest I have seen. The staff were friendly but some hardly spoke English!!! I would not stay in the hotel again.
"Polar Express"
We wanted to do the Polar Express with our kids but didn't want to pay the high price of staying at the GC Railway Hotel. This was perfect. It was just one block from the train station so we could walk there. It was okay as far as cleanliness & niceness, the breakfast was pathetic and they ran out of everything.. so don't count on them feeding you. […] But for the price it did what we wanted and we could easily walk to downtown Williams which was great for our needs. Read more

"Close to the Polar Express"
The hotel was close to the Polar Express but without the cost of the "official hotel." Breakfast ares was small and hard to sit when it was busy. But it did the job.
"Clean and Quiet"
We stayed here during the off-season. The room was in a quiet location, it was clean - but a little cramped. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
"Hiking Trip"
Our fiv kids enjoyed the indoor pool and the complimentary breakfast.
"not bad"
location was great, pool & spa was nice to have, staff was very polite/&helpfull,bath room was a little small, beds need comfort improvement
"Just OK"
This hotel is a bit run-down, but has some decent ammenities. Based on those plus the location near the Grand Canyon & the Railway station, we felt it was worth the price we paid. The good things: there's an indoor pool/spa, a pretty good breakfast with make-your-own waffles, and we were at the rim of the Grand Canyon in about an hour the next morning. […] The not-so-grea things: the bedsheets and covers were well-worn, the carpet was frighteningly dark & dirty, and the window looked out right into a neighboring apartment's window, so we kept the shades closed. The walls were also very thin and we heard noise from our neighbors and the hallway all night long. The bottom line is that if you get a decent price on this one, it's not a bad deal, but just know that it's a pretty solid 2-star place. Read more
"Try another Hotel"
Uncomfortable beds, cold showers, inadequate buffet area. Great location for the train to the Grand Canyon. Try a different hotel.

"Better Than Expected"
This was our first time staying at this hotel and my family was rather impressed for the price. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and the room was pretty nice. I see they did some updating of the room that we stayed in and the only thing I would recommend would be a flat screen with better quality cable/satellite. I was also impressed by their […] free internet that was pretty fast. Read more
"howard johnson hotels r usually five star but not"
The price was reasonable for a good hotel..but this one wasnt..where we have stayed at a number of howard johnsons hotels in the past..this one didnt even come close..the room was out of date..but really didnt care about that..it was the bed..it was the most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept on..no i take that back..even my kids 7 and 4 couldnt get […] comfortable..we slept maybe an hour the whole nite..and when we sat at the breakfast area the place was full of other guest bitchin about there horrible beds..the beds u rolled off of..they were lumpy and miserable..if u plan to sleep..u wont there... "Not too shabby"
We stayed for two nights and enjoyed the experience. Yes the hotel is not new - you still have a CRT television. The hotel itself is showing some age, but that has little to do with the fact that it was clean and had great access to the surrounding town. I wasn't paying for the Ritz and I'm surely not going to hold the HoJo to their standards. It was […] perfectly acceptable for the price tier. No complaints what-so-ever. Read more
"Howard Johnson - Williams, AZ"
Great service, nice hotel but the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in!
management was rude and unaccomodating older hotel need of many repairs best thing about hotel was indoor pool for the kids morning breakfast weak coffe ceral and toast no fruit for kids
"Howard Johnson in Williams, AZ"
It was child friendly and the indoor pool was definitely a plus. It kept the children entertained and it was well heated. Would stay again without question.
he hotel was close to the canyon railway and restaurants, real quiet at nite, pool and spa were well maintained at right temp, would go again continental breakfast were good ed
"Howard Johnson - Williams Arizona"
For an older hotel it was in good repair and clean. The bed was comfortable and the room had a micro-fridge. I just stayed one night before taking the Grand Canyon Railway to the South Rim, The hotel was conveniently located in the small town of Williams. Though I did not have the included breakfest at the hotel, I did use the pool and spa (both indoors). […] There is no elevator so lugging bags up the stairs could be a problem for older guests. "hotel in Williams"
I suppose it is less expensive than other hotels closer to Grand Caynon. There are two closer locations, one is at the south entrance and the other is at the visitor center inside the park. This hotel in Williams is very good except that I found a small spider on bed. It is a little scary and I am not sure it is common or very unusual.

"Great deal!"
Good pricing and not at all what I expected for the money spent. Clean room, very spacious, secure, great bathroom and even had HBO, a safe, ironing board/iron, microwave, fridge and a coffee maker. Quality of service from the people at the front desk left something to be desired but would otherwise recommend to anyone.

"Good location with specious room"
We booked 4 rooms just one night to visit Grand Canyon and got 2 pairs of connect rooms. All 4 rooms has fridge and microwave so we bought dinner from supermarket near by, heated and ate in our rooms. Free wifi is great. We checked e-mail and downloaded pictures sending to friends and families. Free continental is nice too. Like "do it yourself" fresh […] made waffle from 2 machines. Also walking distance to Historic Grand Canyon Railway Station and downtown Williams. Read more
"Howard Johnson in Williams, AZ"
Don't count on the breakfast here. If you only want a bagel, or toast, OK. The beds were comfortable enough, but not the best. Staff was friendly and helpful.
"HoJo Express Inn - Williams, AZ"
This hotel was what I would describe as "adequate" for what we used it for - coming in late from Vegas (3am) and leaving at 11am to head up to the Grand Canyon. Not too many other choices in Williams, but it seems like there MUST have been a better one that the HoJo Express. It was old and well used. Everything necessary for an overnight stay was there, […] it just didn't appear too clean and well kept. My wife wanted to switch hotels, but due to our arrival time (3am) we stayed. If I had to stay in Williams again, I'd check out one of the other places in town. Williams is an old, poor area, but from what we saw on our way out, there are other hotel choices. Read more
"Great Hotel for visiting Grand Canyon"
Great Breakfast, Great Heated Pool, Great Location for a day trip to the Grand Canyon. Very Satisfied. Very close to restaurants in Historic Williams.
"convenience of location"
We needed an moderately priced hotel fairly close to the Grand Canyon and this hotel fit the bill just fine. Nothing flashy and it satisfied the need for a clean room to spend a night before making the venture south toward Scottsdale. fyi: there is a great "mom and pop" style restaurant within walking distance from the hotel; we ate dinner and breakfast […] there and it was amazing. "Good and Cheap"
Hotel was a little old and the beds not comfy. But the staff was pleasant, they had a nice breakfast and the kids got to use the pool. For the price, it was perfect.
"Disappointment"
Two major problems led to this review: a) French tourists at the hotel saw their money gone from their room's safe while they were at the pool (Police intervened); b) After being gone the whole day we realized, upon our return, that our room door could be open just by pushing in.
"Affordable accomadations just outside Grand Canyon"
One of the most affordable lodging near the canyon. Close to a wonderful golf course (Elephant Rock) and on Route 66. Recommend eating at Cruisers for a fun evening.
"hotel stay"
The hotel was just next door to the GrandCanyon Railroad which was good, but the hotel was old and very noisy. Would not stay there again. Clerks were very nice. Breakfast was fine.
Close to Grand Canyon,We were able to get up early and drove to Grand Canyon to see the beautiful Sun rise.

This hotel was our second stop on our Arizona trip and I was pleasantly surprised. We had driven up from Phoenix and this quite a change from such a huge city, to a quaint little town. The woman at the front desk was helpful and pleasant, no complaints. Very standard cookie cutter hotel room and probably hasn't been updated recently, but was very clean […] and spacious. There was a fridge which was great and a table with two chairs. The only thing I would mention is that the lock on the sliding window had been broken off, so they had a wooden pole or broomstick laid at the bottom of the sill, so that window could not be opened all the way. Our room overlooked a sort of alley way and a high wooden fence, and we apparently had a skunk friend who visited twice, not the most relaxing scent, but not the hotel's fault. It was not overly hot in the hotel room, just stuffy(no breeze from the window) and the AC did not work very well. It would come on for about 2 minutes at a time then shut off. My mother even called the front desk at one point to see if something could be done. They told us to set it at a certain temp, leave it and if it doesn't work to call back. We were so exhausted that we just dealt with it and never called back. I only had breakfast one morning, which was pretty good. They have all the breakfast staples like: waffle making stations, toast, cereal, coffee and tea. We stayed here for four nights and drove to the Grand Canyon each day, which was about an hour away and very easy/direct route. The surrounding town of Williams is great, although extremely tiny. I think there are more souvenir shops than residents, but they were fun to look in. Route 66 runs right through the town and they have signs everywhere, but its fun. There are many different restaurants, a Safeway supermarket with a Starbucks(gotta love that)! and even a couple fast food chains. Historic I would definitely recommend this hotel for its convenience, price and proximity to the Grand Canyon. Read more
