We knew we would not be spending a lot of time in our room, so we went for the lower cost of the Red Roof. The beds are Hard!! There is Not a hot breakfast, like Hotels.com said. It is a Continental - muffins, fruit and juice breakfast only. We were able to walk to the River Center Mall and to the Riverwalk and felt completely safe. This hotel will serve your needs fine if you do not need much other than a place to sleep and shower.

We arrived downstairs at 8:15am to enjoy our contential breakfest (beagles, muffins, apples, oranges, coffee, orange juice, and apple juice) to our surprise there was only 2 beagles left and no muffins left. When we asked the front desk about this we were told that they would not be putting out any more. There was still 45 mins until the breakfest was to end, but nothing was going to be restocked. While we were enjoying our one beagle, coffee, and OJ the coffee ran out. This was the only problem we had the time that we were there, so all in all this was a nice hotel for the price. Be sure to book the King roon so you can get the free wireless access.

Reviewed by Anthony of Converse on Nov 25, 2009
We recently stayed at this hotel to have a night downtown. We visited an event going on at the Convention Center, checked in, and left our vehicle at the Inn and walked to the River Walk. The River Walk was much closer then we thought it would be and we felt pleasantly surprised at how much money we saved by being a few streets from the River Walk. We noticed that the security guard for the hotel was actively patrolling the parking areas making sure only guests were staying in the hotel, and that no harm was done to guests vehicles. Definitely felt safe for our car. We didn't stay but one day so I cannot comment on a lengthy stay, but if you want 1 night in downtown San Antonio, and want to save a few bucks on a hotel room and still be close enough to walk, The Red Roof is a bargain!

One morning, at 8h30 (breakfast is till 9 h, they allegedly were out of orange juice, creamer, yoghurt and bagels. There was not much else to choose from as a result.

Love the location of the hotel. Very close to the Riverwalk and Alamo area. Also a trolley stops right in front! However, the customer service is lacking. We left early due to the fact there was no hot water and the front desk could not tell us when it would be back on only that they are working on it. In fact it was their suggestion to check out. Also, the door to the garage was not secure leaving open access to the elevator.

The room that we had had not been cleaned before we got in. Even the sheets had not been changes, and there were big oily staines on them. We asked new sheets, and while we were changing the pillow sheets we noticed that the pillows were disgusting. They had yellow smelly staines all over them. We drove to the closest Walmart to get new pillows for us, so that we didn't have to stuff our faces to those yacky hotel pillows. The bathroom had not been cleaned either. The room was stuffy and moldy (the mold allergy that my partner has indicates there is a lot of mold in this hotel). The mattress was quite unconfortable as well. However, the hotel is in a great location, so if you are traveling with a very low budget and absolutelly can't find anything else affordable, it is an option. However, I wish I had payed just a little bit more to get a nicer place to stay in.

When the meeting hotel rate was $150/night for a five day meeting, it was doubrful we could attend. Until we found the Red Roof Inn. We had a two block walk to the hotel for a third of the price. The room was clean, with of plenty of hot water and a strong a/c. There was no HDTV, but then we don't have one at home either. The desk was helpful and we were treated to a light show at the I-37 underpass each evening when we returned from conference actitivies. It was not as convenient as an elevator ride to get to and from the conference to the room, but the short walk was a small price to pay for the affordable accommadations. The only disappointment was that there was not free internet as indicated in the ad. However, it was still $5 cheaper per day for internet than the conference hotel. I would go back without question.

This could be a great hotel with some decent management. I had need of two beds for one day and then "anything" thereafter so I booked two beds on hotels.com. The price was the same. Apparently in tiny print "somewhere but the clerk could not find it" - if you book a double you do not get free internet as advertised. It will cost you $7.99 per night! The next screw up was no ice machine on ANY floor worked. Our stay was for three days and no ice in SAN ANTONIO!? Management does not care and made no effort to find a way to help. Downtown location is just 10 minutes from Riverwalk; changing light bridge is very neat; nice outdoor pool and GREAT undercover parking. Room was clean but not fancy but that was expected. This place could be SO GREAT but for now go somewhere else and avoid the stress.

The one positive is the great location, 10 min walk to the Alamo and the Riverwalk. I wouldn't stay at this hotel ever again,
