This hotel is just off the Riverwalk. It took about 5 minutes to walk to the river. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was a little small, and could use a few updates to the bathroom, but overall it was comfortable and the area was safe enough to walk at night. The first time to use the toilet, it clogged. So we went to hallway because there were like 5 maids, and they said it's maintenance's job. So we waited 10 minutes, then called front desk, then waited another 20 minutes to call again, to wait 20 minutes for a guy to come up. Finally he does and a minute later we are good to go. "Worst hotel ever"
We got our room and it was dirty. Went back down to tell them and got a different room. He went and checked it first to make sure it was okay. Went to that room key did not work, went back down, got the key re-coded, went back to room, did not work. We did this at least 5 times until they came and tried. It did not work for him so he let us in with […] his master key. Went in the room and it was also dirty. I am guessing he changed out the linens because they were clean but not how the maid service would do it. There was trash, dirty towels, and hair all over the bathroom. At this point we are pushing 2:00 am. Go down for breakfast and went back to the room and of course it did not let us in. The maintenance man came with a machine and got the key working. We get back from SeaWorld that evening exhausted go to the room and the key does not work. Go to the front desk and explain the situation and a manager went and tried the key. She said the battery in the reader was going out so she would move us to a different room. We get keys to our new room get all of our stuff up there, get ready to go in our new room and people are coming out of this room. So we got a room someone was in, we get a different room. Next morning we wake up and cleaning crew is directly across from our room. We come back in the evening and our room is still not cleaned. 11:00 pm there is banging at the door and someone comes in. The only thing worthy of a good report is the location of this Hotel. A/C was out in our room and even though they said someone was coming to fix it no-one ever showed up. It was extremely hot for the first few hours of our stay. I finally had to go down and ask them for another room. Which their first response was they didn't have another one. "Doesn't Even Deserve 1 Star"
Absolutely terrible. I refuse to ever use this hotel or any Red Roof ever again. Nit only did they charge us for four nights instead if two, they praised a return within a few hours that wasn't received, then again by a certain time, and again wasn't received. Then when asked to speak to the manager, the lady walked right passed me and ignored me. She […] went back to the front to give the front desk a paper and had the attendant speak to me- SHE REFUSED TO TALK TO ME. I was livid. Then they promised the refund by three that afternoon and guess what? Nothing. We called Hotels.com to speak to customer service and told them we refuse to stay the second night there and Hotels.com called them with me on hold and they got their refund WITHIN 10 minutes. Really? Then I called the Red Roof 800 number and guess what? Each individual location is in charge of their own billing. So not only were we waiting for a refund from red Roof but also from Hotels.com. So since Red Roof DRAINED out account, we had less than $20 in cash to get Jimmy John's our first night there and had to go home the next day after a massage previously paid for. The customer service at this location obviously didn't exist. They ruined our 3 year anniversary getaway and my first experience ever in SA. Compare to the price of the surrounding hotels, it is worthy to stay here. The Alamo and Riverwalk is few minutes walk from the hotel. The breakfast is simple but it is free, parking is $10 per night. This hotel was not the most luxurious, but it came with an affordable price at a walking distance from Riverwalk in San Antonio. Also, if you stay in one of the higher floors facing down town the views from the room are spectacular. "They need new cleaning crew"
When we arrived at 8:00 pm Sunday, NONE of the hotel rooms were clean. The maitenance ladies marked off a bunch of rooms claiming they were clean when they weren't. It took us an hour to finally get a room after we waited in line for another hour. The front desk did all they could to accomodate the guests. After we were given a room I walked back downstairs […] to grab more luggage from out vehicle, and the waiting line was out the door and around the corner. "No Wonder They Had Availability"
I looked online for a room on the San Antonio Riverwalk, and this was about the only hotel with availability under $400 a night. I booked the room for two nights. We got there, and was given a handicap room with what looked like a communal shower with a wide open roll in space and a shower chair. On the wall in the center of the huge open space was […] a handheld shower nozzle. There was no carpeting on the floor at all, probably so a wheelchair wouldn't have trouble rolling through the room. The only problem was I am not handicapped, and had no desire to use a roll-in shower, nor did I request a handicap room when I booked the room. The room was also on the first floor right down the hall from the exit to the parking garage. That door was used a lot, and loudly, all night long. My husband went to the bathroom during the night, and the toilet ran the rest of the night. It was a horrible experience, and I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. The only PLUS here was that the counter clerk the morning after was pleasant and gave me credit for the second night, and the incidentals. I didn't stay the second night in the city, I went home. Upon arrival, we discovered that our room did not have any towels or washcloths--we had to go down to the front desk and personally retreive these items because the staff was "too busy" to bring them up to our room.
