"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"European-Like small Hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
comfy bed, nice bathroom, great staff at front desk, wireless access easy, computer in Lobby new and rapid. Parking garage reasonable rate. Great spot nearby:EatIly--check it out for restaurants and goodies to bring home. Only improvement that could be made is quality of towels.
"The Gem may be a Gem"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
It was a nice stay. Only complaints are the size of the double bed rooms and the internet was very off/on. Other than that it was an excellent stay.

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.
see all hotels in New YorkVery bad first day. We were told we would need to be moved the next day as we are checking in. I had to debate with clerk and manager. The reason is that Hotels.com had overbooked that hotel. The heater did not work, called for repair, it still did not work. Called the next day, but no one came. It was the worst experience I have had with a hotel. I […] will never want to return there. Read more
"Great Location"
The hotel has reasonable prices for its location. The only problem we had was that people in the next room were smoking and the smell of smoke was so overpowering that it woke us up when they came back to their room at 4AM. Since the rooms were nonsmoking I was surprised at their total disregard of the policy. They left the next morning so we didn't […] report it to the management. Although the rooms are very small they are clean. I would stay here again. Read more
"GOOD LOCATION."
Bathroom heat was to HIGH.. Had to keep bathroom window open alittle. Can tell bathroom door had water damage. Rug was little dirty.
Room itself was tiny but very clean. bed comfortable, bath completely re-done. Lobby area somewhat frightening. Hallways dingy
"No hot water"
The rooms were clean, but have been remodeled cheaply and hazardously; there was no cover over the only extremely bright bedside light and almost caused me to burn my hand, but worst of all: there was no hot water for the shower in the morning and all we got was a shrug of the shoulders with the explanation that a boiler was down.
"Great location"
The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The location is perfect for theatre goers.
Room was very small but the hotel was very close to Time Square and Broadway which was nice.
"Centrally located in the Theater District"
The hotel was undergoing some renovation, so it had scaffolding surrounding the building, but judging from the improvements made on the inside of the rooms, the place will look very nice once the construction is completed. Had some little noise from neighboring rooms or the hallway, but not too loud. Place was kept clean and well stocked. The location […] was perfect, central to all the theaters and Times Square, and two short blocks to the Metro station, and many convenient places to eat were located close by as well. Read more
"Great location!"
It was clean and close to everything I needed for the night.
"No hot water"
Long line to check in when I first arrived. Hallways and rooms looked like they needed to be vacuumed. Ice cold shower in the morning. Front desk manager offered nothing but an apology and late check out. I didnt want to stay past 12 noon so that did me no good.
"Great location, decent price for the area"
Excellent location, good price for the area, and rooms have been properly updated with new furniture. Will stay again here.
"Small and clean"
Great location, clean room, very small, surprisingly quiet. The fact that the hotel elevator wasn't working and I had to walk up 13 floors wasn't pleasant

"Quiet comfortable simple"
went very well!
The management was rude and not very accommodating to its guests. Check-in times were not honored. I was charged for 3 days of parking when really it should have only been 2 days. An additional hour or two should be pro rated. I will not come back to the Milford, nor will any of my friends and family. (I will say that the housekeeping staff does a nice […] job keeping the rooms clean.) Read more
"Location, location..."
Excellent location for Times Square and the theater,, but a minimalist hotel.
"A hotel w/ history and cool renovated rooms"
The hotel is conveniently located within 3 blks of the PABT and the subway. Lots of shops & restaurants close by, and right off Times Square. I like the feel of older hotels, but the best thing, is that the rooms have all been renovated & modernized. When I got to my room, it was tastefully decorated in a modern, clean, Euro-style design, but it was […] very small, with a window that looked out between two other walls of the hotel - not much of a view. The bathroom was modern, small, but efficient, but there was a terrible odor - smelled like the subway. I called front desk, and they promptly moved me from the 21st to 26th floor to a much larger room w/ a fantastic view of Times Square. They also sent a bellman w/ the new keys and luggage cart so I wouldn't be inconvenienced. Friendly and efficient staff. Love the computerized elevator system that will get you right to your floor quickly. Bed was very comfy. Tub nice and deep for a soak after walking about the city or dancing the night away. Great shower heads - good water pressure and very hot water - not always possible in older hotels. Love the lit mirror in the bathroom for applying makeup. Nice desk space for working. Great big full length mirror for getting ready for a night out on the town. Nice window treatments, lots of hangers. Had a cool European feel. For the price and location I would definitely stay there again. Wish I'd had more time there actually. Read more
"Close to everything!"
I was relieved that this was just what I was hoping for- clean, comfortable, and close to Times square. There were a few glitches due to the renovation but manager took care of it and in the end we were happy with our stay and the service. Small, clean room with surprisingly comfortable bed and linens! Don't think you can get a better value for the […] money! Read more
"Satisfactory value for the money"
Was in NYC alone on business and stayed one night to meet friends for dinner. Service is satisfactory for that purpose but it's not a place I'd want to stay for more than a night. The bar is small with tiny plastic tables/chairs and drinks served in plastic cups. Front desk personnel were pleasant but the area was cluttered with messy desk behind the […] reception counter. Room was satisfactory though the thermostat was set on 77F and I couldn't change it, so turned it off and opened the windows. Room was quiet and reasonably comfortable, but if outside temperature was cold or hot the open-window option would be less favorable. Good water pressure in shower! Didn't use internet access. Flat-screen TV worked. Don't know about restaurant (if any). Reminds me of hotels in Europe that cost much more. Overall view: satisfactory; NYC needs a hotel like this but it's a high-volume low-cost product. Read more

"Living it up in New York City!"
My lady and I had a wonderful time at the Milford Plaza. The front desk service was very cordial and she evened "bumped" our room from a queen to a king ... not too shabby. My son and his fiance joined us at the bar area for drinks on Sunday evening and as with the front desk staff, the bartender was quite courteous. We will definitely return to the […] Milford Plaza in the future. Read more
"Outstanding"
I had a outstanding stay at the Milford Plaza, the location could not had better around the corner from times square. Perfect excess to everything that I wanted, the service was excellent, the staff was outstanding, the hotel going through renovation did not distract from my overall stay. The room was very satisfactory plus I received an upgrade when […] I checked in again outstanding. I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends and price was great. "Milford Plaza at Times Square"
Super friendly staff, great location and extremely reasonable pricing. We will definitely be staying at this hotel again.
"Not what it used to be"
I recently returned from NY on a 3-nite stay at the Milford Plaza. I haven't stayed there in several years but always found the hotel friendly and clean. This time, service was a bit lacking. I originally booked with Hotels.com and asked for a mini-fridge for my meds, however, when I called the Front Desk to request its delivery, I was told OK and never […] received it or a call back. The location is great though if you're a theater-goer. A restaurant in the hotel would have been most welcome too. At 60 years old, a cab ride to dinner can be a pain! Read more
"Great experience!"
Simple, clean, and funky. Staff was accommodating. Remodel will do wonders for the hotel. Best location. Only down side- luggage service line a little too slow and long but friendly.

"Milford Plaza in Times Square"
I loved this hotel! The location was fantastic (located one block away from Times Square and right next to a lot of the theaters) and the staff was very kind. It was very clean and I never had any problems. It is kind of an old hotel, though, so the insolation was not that great. I happened to be there at the end of Winter and it was still very chilly. […] If you're sleeping on the side of the bed closest to the window, there's a good chance you'll be cold. Also, the walls are very thin. I was able to hear everything my neighbors were saying. Other than that, no complaints! I'd definitely stay here again. Read more

"Great Location - Renovations"
This location CAN NOT be beat! From Times Square, Rest Row, Theatre, McDonald's or Pizza, everything is walking distances for a non-NYer :) The hotel is renovating and the rooms are small, but trendy. Construction started around 845a in the room above us and 2 doors over, so if you are a late sleeper, ask for good accomadations. There is not an ice […] maker on every floor and the one I was sent to did not work. The conceige booked up the wrong tickets for Empire State Bldg, but it worked out. Hotel bar was not impressive and directly in the lobby/awkward. Maybe the renovation will fix this :) Read more
"Nice hotel"
The hotel was very conveniently located. The room was clean and the service was good. The only negative was that when we came back late from town one night and asked for the keys to the lobby restroom, the receptionist refused and asked us to hold on until we got upstairs to our room.
"GREAT Location"
Loved the location -- so close to where all I needed to be -- easy access to our play, dinner reservations, etc. The only downside was the room was a bit warm and we couldn't figure out how to adjust that. Also some noise while trying to get to sleep from 8th Avenue below -- but hey -- it is a city after all. Enjoyed and will definitely return.
Glad you enjoyed your recent stay with us, although a bit puzzled by the one-star rating, given your mostly positive comments about our hotel but glad to know you intend to return! We do apologize for the difficulty you experienced with regulating your HVAC unit; they employ a new technology and we are working to make them more "user friendly".
1 response by The Milford NYCThe employes never smiled and they sete unpolite. The room was very very small. One evening at 7 pm we had to Ask if the could'nt fix the bed. It was a lack of chairs in the lobby, we had to stand up a long time, waiting for the shuttlebus to the AirPort.
We are truly sorry to hear that you felt our staff to be unfriendly and I sincerely apologize that you were not made to feel welcome during your stay with us. While we are excited about all the wonderful new aesthetic changes that will be occurring at The Milford as a result of our ongoing $140 million renovation, we can never allow these changes to be accomplished at the expense of simple, honest hospitality. Please be assured that this is never our intent and that we realize that, whatever challenges our renovation may create for our staff or our guests, genuine warmth and quality service must never be compromised. We appreciate your feedback and hope that you will return after our Lobby transformation is completed and allow us the opportunity to recapture your confidence in us.
1 response by The Milford NYC"I love the new look!"
I really like the ultra modern design of my room. It makes the room appear larger. The ice machines didn't work on many floors however. That was my only complaint. I assume that issue will soon be rectified during the final stages of the remodeling.I can, wait to see the new lobby (complete with the glass elevators) when I come back.
"Comfortable and clean- close to Times Square"
Our room was small but very comfortable. Room service came every other day and that was plenty. Location to subway and Times Square was great! Staff at the Milford was very helpful! Would definately stay here again!
"Milford Plaza is an excellent stay"
I've stayed there twice and loved it! I plan to stay there in the future.
"2nd stay at this hotel great experience"
1 block from times square, steps away from john's pizzeria supposedly the best pizza in town. Steps away from many broadway shows, breakfast at juniors, baked by melissa minicupcakes
"Milford Plaza at Times Square"
The room and bathroom were tiny. I guess it had just been remodeled but the decor was cold and very uninviting. We were supposed to stay there 5 nights but could not bear spending that much time in that room so we moved.
We are sorry to learn that you did not like our new guest room design as we have been getting very positive feedback about it, especially given that the rooms had not been updated in over 20 years. The Lobby has not been refurbished yet and is slated to begin renovation by mid-2012 for a year-end completion date. As you noted, there are many hotel style options in New York City; we regret that ours is not to your liking.
1 response by The Milford NYC"For theater this is a great location..."
For going to theater in NY. It is both in the heart of things but also on the edge of the action meaning that entrances are not blocked by theater goers and so forth. I've stayed here before and would not hesitate to return.
