Situated on the northwestern tip of Langkawi Island, The Datai is set amid a tropical rainforest abundant with wildlife. Guests have direct access to a secluded white-sand beach that faces the calm Andaman Sea.
Hotel Features.
An 18-hole championship golf course stands between the Mat Cincang Mountain Range and the Andaman Sea. This Langkawi luxury resort also features two pools, a day spa, and a water-activities center near the private beach. Dining options include the al fresco Pavilion, the Beach Club by the sea, and the Gulai House, an open-air Malay house nestled in the rainforest.

Amid a tropical rainforest, the Spa at the Datai Langkawi offers a peaceful retreat for guests to rejuvenate their bodies. A range of spa offerings including signature treatments such as Datai massage, Balinese massage, Warm Stone Massage, and Rainforest harmony are provided in four pavilions. The spa also offers facials, manicure and pedicures, and bathing ceremonies.
The Pavilion: Al fresco dining among tall forest trees. Offers authentic Thai cuisine.
The Dining Room: Resorts signature dining room. Serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Cuisine includes western and local Malaysian specialties.
The Beach Club: Sea-facing dining venue with outdoor seating.
Lobby Lounge: Open daily from 8 PM, the Lobby Lounge offers cocktails and snacks. Guests must be above 12 years to visit the lounge.
The Gulai House: Open-air dining venue located 300 metres from the property. Guests can dine in traditional style by sitting on the floor or at normal dining tables. Offers Malay and Indian cuisine. The restaurant offers chef specials, set menus and extensive a la carte. Live cultural shows are staged on Sundays.
The Gulai House is closed until Jan. 1, 2012. Select menu items are available in The Dining Room restaurant daily from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM.
The Datai Langkawi features a private beach and an exclusive 18-hole Championship golf course. The property also provides a full-service spa, two tennis courts, two outdoor swimming pools, and a health club. Water sports facilities are available at the hotel.
The Golf Club, Datai Bay will be closed for renovations from Nov. 1, 2011 to Jun. 30, 2013. Nearby golf courses will be available to guests at a discounted rate.

The Datai is located around 30-40 minutes drive from Langkawi airport and is quite remote compared to many other resorts (so some may feel isolated). We thought the remote location was beautiful - tucked away in the jungle but where the jungle and sea/beach meet. On arrival, we were upgraded to a private villa, which is by far the biggest hotel room […] we've ever stayed in. The villas are gorgeous and incredibly well-planned, complete with details such as candles, fruit basket, insect spray and power adaptors). Breakfast is also a highlight, as are the staff who are solely focused on making your stay a pleasant experience (like bringing cold peppermint towels and iced water to guests who are lounging by the pool). Overall, this is a beautiful resort with fantastic service and we would highly recommend it to anyone who needs a luxurious, peaceful getaway. Read more
"The Datai - Fabulous experience"
Stayed in rainforest villa - beautiful location. You felt like an honoured guest amongst the trees & wildlife. Great room, fabulous bathroom. Walk 100m to the beach which is the nicest beach in Langkawi. Private, manicured, beautiful warm water, scenic & staff bring cold water & cold towels - complimentary! Restaurants were good, Galai House was an […] outstanding experience - great food & amazing setting. The Spa was excellent - you couldn't find a better location. Staff were very good but as it was low season, they bordered on over-attentive - you felt like they were watching every mouthful you took & every sip of your drink!! Negatives - the rooms were very dark, this needs attention as most of the lights were on dimmers, but not bright enough or not enough of them. Hard to see for make-up or shaving. Very expensive - you are a captive audience as The Datai is at least 20 mins away from anything else, so you pay for that!! Internet is complimentary-they advertise it as wireless but they could only offer me wired & TERRIBLY slow. Overall - highly recommended if you want a quiet, secluded & very luxurious holiday. "Fantastic weekend treat"
If you live in either Malaysia or Singapore and want to get take your partner away for a weekend getaway for a special occason then The Datai is the perfect location! From arrival the service was excellent including the reception staff organising a late checkout for us (without asking) so we could enjoy our second day before taking the late flight back […] to Singapore. All staff were excellent and attentive, remembering your name (particularly at the beach club), but still gave you enough space to really relax and enjoy the magnificent surroundings. Read more
