"Walls are paper thin!!"
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights for our anniversary. We did some research online and figured this hotel would be a reasonable place to stay, given that we didn't know the area of Victoria very well. 1. The lobby smelled like fried food. 2. The front desk associate was eating food while watching TV on the computer. 3. The […] beds are hard (but pillows are soft) 3. Our "neighbors" were up all night laughing and leaving/returning to their room until 4am! Door would bang shut each time. And because the walls are paper thin, you could hear everything in their room. 4. When we complained to the front desk, they said they received several complaints and did not extend their stay. But they never addressed it immediately with our "neighbors" when we called during the night nor offered us anything. 5. Good thing? This hotel is fairly close to downtown Victoria. Good thing we were out exploring the city and didn't spend much time at the hotel anyway. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Low price yet high value"
I was looking for a hotel that is no more than $100, decent and in a good location and when I saw this listing I thought it's a great match for I was looking for. The picture of the room with a king size bed looked nice and turned out it was exactly the same as the nice picture so with my expectation. The location is great, too. It's not by the harbour […] and in an ok neighbourhood but DT & harbour are in the walking distance so it was very convenient. The room seemed to be recently renovated, spacious and despite of being close to the busy road, it was quiet. I'd recommend this hotel for anyone who's looking for a budget & convenient stay. "Great value, nice experience"
Booked the hotel for a recent weekend in Victoria. Very friendly staff, and a great room. It's about 10 blocks away from the core tourist areas in the city, but that's an easy bus ride away. It's a walkable 3 blocks from an up and coming area down by the waterfront that is seeing a lot of new restaurants and bars pop up. The hotel itself is in a more […] residential/office part of town with a lot of locals going about their lives nearby. Other recommendations: Get a daily bus pass at any convenience store and use that to get around town. The bus system is fantastic, and no rental car is needed. Also, visit Point Ellice house for high tea (a gem off the beaten trail), and take a kayak trip with Kelp Reef. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Within walking distance to downtown"
This is our second time staying at this locatiion, we actually stayed in the same room both times. The rooms are small, but comfortable. They are in middle of renovations; so it was noisy in the morning. The room we were in was mostly renovated ( they left the old 60s mustard colored tub in), but other than that, for small rooms they are nice and appropriate […] for what you pay for. We did have a power surge in our room, which front desk took care of it immediately. The pool is small, but functional. Only thing I would complain was that the nearest convenience store was a few blocks away. We would stay at this location again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"comfy bed, quiet stay"
When we got there, the central air was not working well in our room. The desk clerk changed us immediately to a room with an air conditioner. The kingsize bed & pillows were very comfortable. The hotel is being painted, so there were scraped areas, which did not bother me. It was clean, quiet &comfortable.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Old must be renovated"
The worst hotel during my 18 days vacation. Even is not new hotel, could be clean. For the price we paid we expect more.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Dont look too closely"
The hotel itself looks very old and outdated. The bathroom had an ancient dirt coloured tub in it, and the walls were straight out of the 60's. The furniture looked nice at first glance, but on closer inspection the chair had a huge rip in it and the table was covered in permanent stains. The bed looked amazing, but the mattress was solid as a rock. […] On top of that, the water pipes for the hotel ran straight through the walls behind our heads so we woke up everytime someone had a shower or turned on a tap to screeching pipes. The room had a sliding glass door that opened on to a deck- that EVERYONE else had access too! I had people walking by and looking in all afternoon and had to shut the curtains and sit in darkness with the light on in the middle of the day just for some privacy. The parking lot looked very outdated as well with pot holes and cracked pavement and an ancient fence. I would return if only for locational convenience. And I may sleep on the floor instead, it might be comfier. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"ShelterBox at Rotary Zone Institute Meeting"
The Hotel is located conveniently as the name suggests in the centre of Victoria. The room was well appointed and comfortable. The service in the cafe was friendly. Each room has it own wifi password, has the latest coffee machine, a good size flat screen TV and iron and ironing board. This was good value for money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, updated, budget friendly hotel"
Very reasonable and renovated hotel in Victoria. Clean with modern furnishings. Would recommend for people looking for a decent spot close to the city centre who are on a budget and don't mind fewer frills. Only had a couple of annoyances 1) The fridge made an unbearable high-pitched buzzing noise and we had to unplug it 2) A hotel staff member entered […] our room without notice or prompt quite abruptly about an hour after checking in. He asked us if we had checked in (it was very, very strange). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It was alright. room was quite clean and all staff was so kind. there was $200 for the damage deposit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room was lovely and quiet on Friday evening, but noisy people in the hallways Saturday. Bed was very firm with no cushioning so not that comfy. Phone not working in our room. Mentioned it to management, but no change. Wouldn't book there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was well appointed. The air conditioning did not work and the room was to hot leaving a window open to loud traffic. Someone was smoking below and had the smoke wafting into my room. Great having a fridge micro wave and nice coffee maker. Bathtub was pink, should be updated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Excellent location, good service plus decent breakfast restaurant and lounge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is very dated and in need of an upgrade, but considering the price, it was good value for the money. The staff could have been more professional and helpful; I had to request a new blow dryer twice because mine was broken in the room, but never did receive a new one. The surrounding area is a little sketchy but very close to the center of […] town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Short walk to the Inner Harbour"
Was very impressed with this hotel. Yes the outside has you questioning your decision - the building does look outdated. However, inside is another story. The front desk area was tidy. The room itself was updated; well worth the value. Location is great as well - about a 15 minute walk to the Visitor Center; 10 minute walk to downtown and a variety […] of restaurants. "Comfortable and good location"
The room is renovated, really comfortable and pleasant. It's located in the main street, just some blocks far from the touristic attractions and near the rental car. Staff was genteel and accessible to any doubts. The only problem was no breakfast included.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was pleasantly surprised how nice the hotel was for the cheap rate I got. The hotel was clean, staff friendly, my room was updated, I had a very comfortable bed, it was quiet, so I got a good night sleep. Overall a great place to stay, walking distance to Mayfair mall and the bay downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"new coffee makers"
We were there the day they brought in the new coffee makers. So much better than the old drip ones. Much better quality of coffee. This was my second stay and I will probably stay again if I'm in Victoria.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"So-so. Not the greatest but in a pinch it would do"
It was fine. Served its purpose but it is interesting to see a place that has been mixed and matched to put a room together!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ten minute walk to harbour."
Parking was okay but unsecured. The staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable but the bathtub had hairs in it and on the walls which makes everything suspect. Also the bathroom had no window and the fan did not work. All things that should have been addressed for the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Expensive for Very Basic"
No one was at the front desk when I arrived & I waited about 5 minutes for someone to appear - no bell to ring either. Then the front desk EE was unenthusiastic. Although the lobby has recently been renovated, the elevator has not & it's something out of the '70s & tiny - enough room for 3 people. Hotel room was fine, clean but it is showing some wear. "Super hotel with good price"
Even if the hotel is not in the city centre, it´s walkable distance and has convenient free parking and wifi.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Renovations are well done; I stayed over 20 yrs ago. Recommend tile in elevator or, at the very least, new carpet, as well as keeping elevator walls clean. You walk from well presented Lobby into poor looking elevator & get the impression that rooms may look the same as elevator. Also recommend a little Reno & cleaning of outside front door; first impression. […] As I am an interior designer, I also appreciate the pictures on hallway walls as well as nice presentation in Lobby & elevator areas on each floor. Perhaps more colour in the Lobby such as a lg. vase of fresh flowers. Kitchenette could use a couple cutting knives, colander, mixing bowl and matching no. of dishes & utensils. Considering there are guests who cook when on vacation, as I do, this would be helpful. I would stay again as I like the hotel, price point & location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice location, close to downtown"
Nice reception, pretty old-fashioned elevator (a bit slow....) Newly updated furnitures.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was ok. Definitely not walking distance to the wharf, tourist area by the water. Advertised on sign as "full service hotel". However, no room service menu in room and no bellboy to assist with luggage. Elevator small and cramped. Bathrooms need to be renovated. Bathroom sink didn't drain very well. Front desk staff never greeted us each day as we […] came in and out of the hotel except for first day we checked in. However, cleaning staff was extremely friendly. Waitress in restaurant very courteous and helpful (petite, long dark haired girl). Pool waitress on second day asked us if we were staying in the hotel as if we weren't supposed to be laying by the pool with my kids. Pool waitress on first day was great though. Clean rooms. Pool was nice but need more floaties to lay on in pool. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located quite a ways from the harbor not quite what the map location suggests. That was the biggest negative. The room itself was comfortable and clean and a relative bargain compared to other available accommodations. It was necessary to drive and park closer to the attractons.Genuine Expedia guest review
Highly recommend this hotel! The staff is exceptional! The night desk man (Adrian) was so helpful. He upgraded our room and made our stay very pleasant! The adjoining poolside bar was awesome. And the locals were super friendly. The small diner Kittys was very good too. Defiantly the best stay on the island!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Parking wasn't the best. There was a smell of urine just outside the hotel. Room was clean and was nice. The rest of the hotel was average. So in all an ok place. Loved that it wasn't too far from the harbour.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Blamed for leakage"
Late in the evening we were called by the receptionist and blamed for not using the tub curtain because there was some water dripping down the ceiling two floors (!!) below us into the parking lot. We said we didn’t do anything wrong and knew how to use such a curtain but he kind of insisted that it must have been us (even though I said there were not […] even drops on the floor). The next morning another person from facilities woke us up in a very harsh tone saying that they need come to our room to check things out and that we might need to change rooms. I then suggested that it was not our room but maybe the room below or beside where a family with a few kids very having many showers and I insisted of having another hour to get awake and pack things together. He said he would check with the maintenance people to see if this was feasible and call again. But he never did. Two hours later I enquired at the reception and was then told that it was a broken air-conditioning pipe in the room below us – with no excuse for the blaming and the troubles caused to us! "Gets the job done"
Nothing to complain about -- the service was great, the rooms are fine, and it's within walking distance to the waterfront. The surrounding neighbourhood isn't exactly nice, but definitely no safety concerns. My only complaint is that it was very hot during my stay and the room just had a fan -- no AC. All in all, a pretty solid place to rest your head […] for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean modern rooms, friendly staff."
Stayed here for two nights in early August. The rooms were modern and tasteful. Location is good - a bit of a walk to downtown but a nice one, and close to Chinatown. Amazing staff! I left an item of personal value here and they were kind enough to find it and mail it back to me! Great budget-friendly option.Genuine Expedia guest review
All the staff that we were in contact with were great, pleasant and helpful. Location worked very well for us. We had come to Victoria for medical appointments and having the restaurant in the hotel was great, so we did not have to go out and look for a place to have dinner, saving us a lot of stress.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
