My online booking was not captured by the Tropicana system and this could have caused problems for me if the hotel was full. Breakfast was the same stuff for my duration of stay. Rooms are dirty and saw crawling insects - really not a good hotel. The place needs some renovation and upgrades. I was really not impressed at all. If it was clean at least that could have made a difference. Lots of things in the building is in need of upgrading

If planning to go with a family to Durban,this will be o good choice. Pls don't expect luxury,there is not such thing there,but SAFETY,CONFORT,and a SUCCULENT BREAKFAST.. Coming from a 3 days stay in a Guesthouse,to find this kind of breakfast was very very NICE. Yea,I know,the parking is outside the Hotel and then you must pay R55 per night,I now,it can frustrate you a bit,but is not terribly far,there is a 24 hours segurity personnel there,you feel that your car is safe,under roof,not really bad,AT ALL.... The 3 Palms restaurant unfortunately is closed at night so,no dinner there,that''s something that is a bit of disappointment,but come on,there are plenty of restaurants on the beach front of Durban to choose from... It was very pleasant to be there,next time I will stay for longer....

For the low cost that I paid at the hotel, I must say that the services were amazing. And as an absolute food-lover, the food didn't disappoint one bit. NOTE: it would be nice if the wifi was available in the rooms as well instead of just the first floor and as a bonus...FREE WIFI :)

The internet could be in all floors except for the business loundge. The food at the Clippers bar was amazing and the staff was very helpful as well. The rooms are very clean. You need to request in advance for a sea viewing room.

hotel in need of refurbishment.carpets smell and rooms are substandard.broken phone,mould in the bathroom and flies in the dining hall.bad experience overall.we were on a family holiday,last minute decision hence could not get rooms elsewhere.booked tropicana as we have visited their other property at natal spa which way better.

I was booked for the hotel for a 3 day holiday. The staff was friendly and accommodating, which was the best part of the hotel. The entrance was a picture out of the 80's. The hotel's AC was not on so it was sticky throughout. When i got to my floor, the halls smelled of smoke, and were dark and dank. The room was standard for a hotel, but dirtier. The AC in the room didnt work either. The website i used to book the stay also listed Wifi, which they did not have. Immediately cancelled my stay and took the hit to go to a different hotel. All in all, fairly terrible experience. Pros-Friendly, accommodating staff, fairly priced, beach is right outside. Cons- Dirty, Smells Bad, needs updating, smoking is allowed.

Resided here for two nights while on business, the breakfast was fantastic and free internet in the business lounge only. Requested for room service and got it in 10 minutes, wow!! Though the hotel room looked a bit old and the window was jammed shut. Still the aircon made up for this. Found it odd that you need to pay cash for wifi to use in other areas of the hotel and they cannot add this to your room charge to be settled on check out. Ultimately it was a wonderful stay and enjoyed Durban very much.

I recently stayed for business for the whole week, yes it is not a 3 star but the service is that of 5star hotel real hospitality indeed. I also saw Department of Home Affairs Officials I managed to interview some of them about the hotel and they said to me Tropicana was like their home far away from home. What is lacking in the hotel is gym facilities
