"good hotel"
Nice service. Great bar. Free wifi. Right next to Chinatown. Excellent receptionist. Across the street from a bus stop. The rooms were quaint but nice. Unfortunately, no view whatsoever. Only problem was the slow elevators. They only had one elevator too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I really liked the hotel, very trendy, restaurant and bar were great too. The only think that bothered me a little was the elevator, only one elevator, older and took time to wait for..I was on the top floor so I had to take it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was ok"
It was ok but I wouldn't stay there again. The room was cold, all white, nothing on the walls. Two windows opened up to noisy alleys. Garbage truck each morning at 6:20 making horrible sounds. The tv cable went out the last night I was there. The bathroom sink was in the bedroom (what's up with that?) The hallways were dark and creepy. Hotel staff didn't […] ask me how my stay was when I checked out. The elevator was sketchy. Overall, it was an old building renovated not offering that much for the price but still very pretentious. I'll go fo the Marriot or Hyatt next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small, but very nice hotell in a great location!"
The hotell had a great location right by Union Square. It was stylish, easy to park across the street(although expensive). The service was good, and the only negative thing was that we got a room right next to the elevator which made a lot of noise. Also, the was a Jazz-bar right underneath that was noisy. Overall we would definitely stay here agai […] n! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location next to the shopping center. Breakfast was a nice plus. Friendly staff. My only gripe was that the wireless internet connection wasn't very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Mystic Surprise"
Made a last minute reservation at The Mystic and was pleasantly surprised by it's location and stylish European Decor. After settling in the room, we decided to go for a walk around nearby Union Square and were pleasantly surprised by the dark and stylish hotel bar! The mixologist/ bartender made awesomely crafted drinks and was very social. We never […] made it outside! The only minor downside is that we were in a room on the backside alley (and adjacent to a multi-story parking garage) and it was very loud in the morning...but you need to put up with some of that when you stay in the city. Hotel style and comfort were top notch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel. Convenient Location"
This would be a full 5-star review except for a couple of things: 1. There were some mosquito like insects in the shower, 2. Maid forgot to leave a washcloth one day. Other than that, the service was excellent, the hotel is conveniently located near Union Square and with easy access to public transportation (this was a must for me since I didn't drive […] my car). Powell BART station is only a 3-4 minute walk, Muni bus stop (route 30 to the Wharf) is across the street, 10 minute walk to Chinatown, 1 block from Union Square, 10 minute walk to SFMOMA ... etc. The room was a bit small and not much of a view, but I didn't mind because I only used the room to sleep at night. "Eactly what I was looking for"
This hotel was exactly what I was looking for on this trip to SF with my husband; unique, but not scary. The rooms had an airy, comfortable feel, and the hotel had plenty of charm. The halls were dimly lit- living up the the "mystic"-ness of the hotel's name. The 2nd floor bar and dining area were nice, without feeling too uppity, and the morning breakfast […] was satisfactory. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice location"
Overall was good, the only think I did not liked was that the sink was outside the bathroom, was right beside the TV screen and with almost no space to place my tooth brush.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"As Noisy as NYC"
Do not stay in a room that faces the alley! I stayed here 3 nights and each and every night I heard people rummaging through the glass recycles in the alley, homeless people fighting, and sirens. As if that wasn't bad enough...I was woken up by the garabage truck before 6am each morning. This hotel is really cute and the live jazz music is wonderful. […] Otherwise there is no valet, no bell man, and it is on the outskirts of Union Square (not good). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location"
Clean rooms, very friendly staff, has an upscale air to it. The location really can't be beat, a few blocks walk to either Union Square or Chinatown. The continental breakfast was excellent. My only gripes were the Wi-Fi was mostly non-existent in my room (We asked, they said they reset the router but it was still terrible) and that they charged me […] 5 dollars for a LOCAL phone call that couldn't have lasted for more than two minutes. It was not indicated on the phone I would be charged so of course I was surprised to see the bill. I left with a sour taste in my mouth. But looking back, a worthy hotel, make calls from your room at your peril. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"OK hotel, but then again we booked last minute"
The hotel is located right next to the Stockton Tunnel which connects Chinatown to the Civic Center Plaza District, which is walking distance to trolley stops in Market street or walking distance to Chinatown or Little Italy. The area is always busy and at night may look dangerous, but it isn't. Decor: The hotel's lobby looks very modern and chic, […] or in other words, it looks nice. The elevator is old but that doesn't mean its ugly, dirty, or doesn't work. It might be a little slow but it got the job done with no problems, hardly worth mentioning but I know people like to know small stuff like that. There is a bar in the second floor, it sounded loud and fun. Room: Stayed in a Junior double, which ended up being bigger than I thought. The bed was more like a king. The restroom was bigger than most other bathrooms. Though the sink is located in the bedroom area, my girlfriend and I had no problem, she used it as a makeup counter. NO AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM! There is circular Dyson fan. Luckily it was a cool weekend, but I could imagine it a problem in hot days. There is Free Wi-Fi and a small refrigerator as well. Parking: According to their site they're supposed to have their own parking structure but we didn't see it. We parked right across the street which didn't end up being too bad. We got there at 11pm on Saturday and left Sunday around noon, was about $49. Price: I think you can find something cheaper. We booked last minute. But I think you can find something better. "Very convenient"
This is an old fashioned SF Hotel, room is incredibly small with not much room other than the bed, bathroom okay but no shelf or counter to put anything down. No hair dryer, the towels were very, very rough and very small, maid service didn't come until 5:00 and elevator was broken one day so had to walk up 7 flights of stairs to get to our room. The […] location is good but the hotel from outside is very hard to find and when we called for directions person answering phone couldn't help us. Altogether okay but not great and wouldn't recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"So-SO"
my room was stark white, VERY small, and sans any decor or comfort. The staff was not friendly. The glasses in my room were dirty when i arrived. And i was located next to a linen closet and heard slamming doors all morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My room was above the restaruant/bar. It had no ventilation save for a ceiling fan and a window that opened to an enclosed dreary shaft. Overall and ok hotel and stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Liked hotel, good value for location. I agree with previous reviewers about noise--I was in a room away from the bar so didn't have problems with that, but I did hear 2 rounds of early morning trash pick up and also heard lots of noise from hallway and the adjoining room. I'm an early riser whose body clock was on CST most of my stay, so noise didn't […] disrupt my sleep too much and I would stay again. But if you are a late sleeper then the non-bar noise may be a factor. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maybe not Mystical but very convenient"
If it wasn't for the renovations conveniently taking place on our floor (now I understand why there was a good rate for the day we chose), I would have given higher marks.....read below Conveniently located hotel just off the corner of Sutter and Stockton, parking is at your own discretion but there was a garage across the street that wasn't too bad […] for cost. We woke up to the sounds of hammers and drills going off starting around 7:30AM, we were hoping for a little more of a natural awakening...but then again it is the City so almost anything goes....I would just have hoped that they would mention this sort of thing to people booking a room in the future. On a positive note, the hotel is conveniently located by all the boutique shops and Union Square, the hotel bar and lounge is a great little place to go for a last call drink or a nice start to your evening. We liked the dim lit hallways in the hotel -gave it a mysterious look but maybe not so easy to navigate if you had too many...but it was nice. The staff was friendly and I'll give it a second chance but next time I'll ask ahead if there are any repairs going on I should know about. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and price."
Great location, great price. The rooms are small but they are wonderful for a coulple looking to get away. Free breakfast was a treat. "close to expensive shops!"
I had a good time, the hotel staff was very kind. Our hotel room wasn't in the best of shape, though it had the necessities. I enjoyed the jazz band they had daily and when we were a late arrival, the night staff was very attentive. :) The only complaint location wise was it was a walk to get to any decent food, but that's nothing a cab right won't […] fix. "Good enough for a night"
The hotel was in a convenient location within walking distance to union square and not too far from Chinatown. There is also a trolley stop near by. For the price, you can't beat the location. Pay attention though if you are driving because the address isn't clearly marked and we passed it even though we had a GPS. The room itself was small. The sink […] was in the actual room and the bathroom/shower area is small. It was clean and fine for one night though especially when you won't be in the room a lot. The staff were friendly and the girl gave us some tips. The elevator was broken though. The continental breakfast had croissants, cereal, toast and oj/milk/codfee. I'd recommend this hotel to college kids or couples who want to keep cost down but stay in the city. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great stay. Will be back soon."
I was in town for business. Decent size room. Smaller than a low class hotel, but it didnt matter. I didnt spend a lot of time in the room. It was very clean. The carpet did not have that gross look and feel that some hotels have. The bed/pillows were comfy, plenty of towels. Only concern was the outside. It was hard to find as there was no prominent […] sign. When walking up I felt I made a mistake picking that hotel. The other business looked abandoned and dirty. It turned out great. It would do them good to ask neighbors to clean up their space. Its a true "dont judge a book by its cover" hotel. Location was great. Walked around the block for great shopping. They had a "Tavern" on the second floor of hotel. Food smelled good (didn't eat there) Drinks were great music was even better. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wish we'd have stayed longer!"
We were supposed to be staying with friends but instead got a room here at the last minute. The room was so affordable so I wasn't expecting much, but I was amazed. Wish I would have been staying here the whole time! We had a room on the 8th floor. The decor was clean and modern, the temperature nice, the bathroom modern and clean. To top it off, the […] complimentary breakfast was one of the best I've had - it was not a full breakfast (no eggs / omelettes), but there was what tasted like fresh squeezed orange juice, artisinal bread with nutella spread, and greek yogurt. What a find. The only negative was the elevator, which was a bit slow at peak breakfast time, but it really wasn't a big deal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for quick couples getaway!"
My husband and I were only in San Francisco for three nights - we never got a honeymoon so this was our anniversary trip. We were upgraded when we checked in which was a nice surprise and a good thing as I cant imagine how small our original room would have been. Room was cozy, small but not to crowded for us two, just right. Located on the edge of […] Union Square and close to Chinatown which was nice. Overall very pleased with the hotel and cost. We heard a lot about noise levels being high but we were not bothered at all by it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the money"
I was so disappointed in The Mystic. We were excited about a stay at a Charlie Palmer-owned hotel. Ugh. The pictures looked great online. We are not picky travelers - pretty much roll with the punches - however we paid a little more than usual expecting a nicer stay. Oh boy. Nowhere to pull over to unload your luggage out front. Signs still bear the […] name of the previous hotel The Crescent, so don't get confused. The lobby is BEAUTIFUL. The front desk guys were quick and to the point. The main staircase ended right in front of our door. Every night we were privy to every noise up and down that staircase. When we opened the door to our room, the door didn't open completely because it was blocked by something on the other side. Oh, that's the bed. That is how small the room was. No clock. There was a brick wall outside our window. No screen. There was a family of pigeons outside our window. We couldn't air out the room during a rare hot week in San Francisco because the pigeon family could walk right in. Paper thin walls - could hear people in other rooms. Jazz from the restaurant bar came right up through the floor. Terrible shower curtain. Walls were dirty and scuffed. Wall paper in the public areas of the hotel was ripped. Windows were dirty. Did someone really inspect this new hotel and decide it was ready to open? Give me a break. They should have waited to open until it was completely ready for a grand opening. Not impressed. "Sweet place, great price"
A great price for a super clean and attractive hotel. The room was tidy and had a nice couch from which I did a little work before bed. The bathroom was nice looking and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was on the 2nd floor and included bagels, yogurt, fruits, juice and toast. I will definitely keep this place in mind for future visits.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best place we've stayed so far in downtown SF"
We loved this hotel. I first called the hotel to find out about room availability and rates but they told me they were booked. I had been looking on line at hotels.com and was seeing an availability. I know hotels reserve rooms for online booking so I booked on Hotels.com and reserved a room with a queen bed. When we checked in we were told we were […] upgraded. To our delight we were upgraded to a suite. The suite was spacious and very nicely decorated and clean. Views are a luxury at some hotels and depend upon the floor level and what building is next door. We did look out over a roof top but we could see over to the Macy's building. The room had lots of light with heavy drapes as well. The staff was very friendly. The lounge and restaurant were very comfortable and unique. Breakfast was good and the person maintaining the breakfast was friendly and quick to keep coffee flowing, tables cleared, and answer any questions we had. Another plus for us was the parking garage across the street which made moving luggage less of a chore with its proximity. We don’t like to stay at the same place when we go down to SF – we like to experience different environments, but we will return to the Majestic. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
