"Excellent location and hotel"
We found this hotel to be exactly what we were looking for---something chic and fun and not the normal stuffy hotel. Great bar on the 2nd floor with live music. Loved it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I were at the Mystic and had a great time. The rooms are clean but a little small even for a boutique hotel. The breakfast and bar (at night) are excellent. The only minor issue was with the front staff women who checked us in, she was a little too loud even for New Yorkers like us. Over all, it was a great place to stay and I would definitely […] stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"friendly small hotel"
Overall my stay was pleasant. The hotel had one elevator, which was pretty slow. And I hit one of the rare 85 degree periods in SF and the hotel has NO air conditioning. Fine most of the time in SF (you can open the windows), but on that occasion tough.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NOISE NOISE NOISE"
I paid a premium for a king suite only to find that they face a busy street on which construction was going on most of the night - yes night. There is no air conditioning and so the options were to open the windows to more noise or create a hot stuffy room as the night wore on.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Mystic Hotel so so"
Really old hotel. Elevator kept breaking down and the noise from a private party reverberated up through the floors to my room! I wouldn't stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN"
we got upgraded when we arrived which was nice, the breakfast is okay, nothing fancy but satisfied me, the only downside about the hotel is no grab bar in the shower, would be nice to have a shelf in the bathroom and the rooms really need better lighting, a lamp on the desk would help, The elevator is really slow.....and beware of Stacy at the front […] desk, she has a sharp tongue at times. The location is great, close to public transportation and Union Square Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Lovely hotel. Perfect location (across the street from a public parking garage and Union Square just around the corner). Rooms are updated. Hotel bar is a treat. Only negative would be elevator was slow (very minor).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great all around and the bar on the 2nd floor carried a wonderful cozy feeling. Nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming small hotel in the heart of San Francisco"
I had a great stay at the hotel. I got a really nice renovated room which was very spacious and comfortable. The only drawback was that the street was rather noisy due to construction on Stockton. Otherwise would have been perfect. The hotel is reasonably priced and has a nice breakfast. I like the hotel very much and would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute & Hip boutique hotel!"
Enjoyed my stay at this hip hotel. It's has a great bar with a very knowledgable bartender, Brian makes a great drink! The rooms are small but it's very SF. So are the sounds of the City, I loved it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, very convenient"
The hotel was clean and nicely maintained. My only complaint would be that there was not a desk to work from. Other than that, it was a good stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
perfect. just wish the elevator was a little faster but who cares? the orchids on each floor window added a nice touchGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Maybe it's just not my type of place"
I appreciate a bit of space and hot water in a shower, neither of which I had. I also had a window that literally stared at a brick wall but I suppose that isn't a huge deal. Service was good and the staff was friendly. Take the stairs if you can because the 1950's elevator is slower than all get-out. For this particular "type" of hotel I am sure it […] is lovely however I will probably stick with something more contemporary next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cool hotel, traffic was noisy"
Hotel is very nice, free breakfast was good, central location near to great shopping, stayed on the 6th floor and it was really loud during the night. If you're used to a city maybe not such a big deal but pretty loud trucks and cabsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel , close to everything!!"
Hotel was in a great location. Staff was very nice and helpful. Room was small but very nice. Loved it !!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"My hotel stay"
I love how clean, cute, and modern/updated the rooms are.....Three things I didn't like are how small the rooms are, price for parking(36/day), and the price for the small rooms. Parking should be free w/hotel stay geezz!! Expensive, mainly because of the location on Union Square close to restaurants and shopping. This hotel should be cheaper because […] it has no AC just a fan. I would stay a few blocks away from downtown next time. Everything is walking distance anyway. I don't mind walking a few blocks or catching a bus next time and save my money for dining and shopping!!Now I know!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"fabulous artsy boutique hotel!"
I booked this hotel last minute for just one night. The staff were fantastic, very professional, accommodating & helpful! I had to check out of my previous hotel at noon & check-in here wasn't until 3pm, I called ahead & they said I could stow my luggage. When I arrived, they let me check-in 2 hours early & upgraded my room!! I love the aesthetic of […] the space & the cool old elevator (which was not at all old in a sketchy sort of way). There's always lemon water waiting for guests in the lobby. Everything I needed in my room, including easy to access power outlets (as well as USB charging ports), small fridge, nice spacious bathroom with soft towels, & a very enticing selection of local snacks & drinks. I was there in early April & the night I stayed was unseasonably warm, I'm from New Orleans & used to AC when it gets hot. There's a good ceiling fan & I was able to open the windows, but I was still a bit uncomfortable. That's the only complaint that I have. I'll definitely stay there again when I'm in San Francisco! It's in a great central location (for a tourist). Such a better alternative to the big unfriendly hotels just a few blocks away! Oh, & I hear that their restaurant & bar are fantastic. I was just bummed that I wasn't there longer to check out the restaurant & bar...and enjoy a few more days in that lovely space! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I will be back"
Great Location, Fantastic restaurant & bar. This place is a hidden gem.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect for business or personal travel. Bar was a happening surprise on the 2nd floor. Better than average free breakfast. However - even though I was on the 4th floor - it was like being on street level. This was especially problematic at 6am when the garbage trucks' fracas jolted me awake. VERY LOUD.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great location. Nice and hospitable"
We had a very good time in the hotel. Location is great. The people their were very helpful. The rooms are small but nice. The elevator is a little scary Would defiantly come again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The rooms were small but clean. Because the shower curtain was too short, the bathroom floor would be completely soaked after showering. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly well done and hot coffee plentiful. The only real issue was that there was a band playing (?) extremely loudly until 1:00 AM in the second floor bar area which caused us a well […] deserved nights sleep. "very helpful front desk and doorman"
the room was very small, but the bed comfortable and good quality linens; good location for walking and catching public transportation. the hallways were a little dark and the elevator a bit iffy, but overall a very nice downtown hotel. the concierge was extremely helpful and friendly. also, a great complimentary breakfast, which is unusual in this […] kind of boutique hotel, and a nice on- site bar. price was reasonable for a room downtown. "Great gem of a hotel!"
My husband and I stayed at the Mystic and loved it! It was very conveniently located in Union Square - we like to walk and it was easy to grab transportation on the trolleys and from the hotel to the BART stop (airport) is only a few blocks away. We took full advantage of the breakfast buffet every morning - which is better than most hotel buffets! […] Everyone at the front desk went out of their way to make suggestions and greet us pleasantly. The only minor issues we had were the construction going on in the hotel at the end of the corridor near our room and the inability to open the room's windows or turn up the AC. The room was a little stuffy, but the bed was very comfortable and all other amenities were great. To people who complain about small rooms - that is what you will get when you stay in historic buildings in major cities and maybe the boutique hotel experience is not for you. For us, the hotel was a great place to crash, eat breakfast, and catch a drink at the upstairs lounge before turning in and doing it all over again the next day. Ocerall I enjoyed my stay. It was located withing walking distance to my job as well as close to many eateries. A little noisy due to the Tavern downstairs and homeless people in the alleyway below, but overall, a clean nice hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very quaint and comfortable. Like the old style of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Love the place!"
The hotel is beautiful, artfully appointed, and located within walking distance to some great restaurants, bars, and China Town. We were only there one night, after a week in the wine country, but we were treated like royalty by the staff! The rooms were clean and the bed super comfy. There's definitely street noise (we were on the fifth floor in an […] exterior street facing room) but it did not bother us a bit. Have a couple of specially crafted cocktails with Shawn at the hotel bar before bed and you will sleep like a baby! I probably spoke with at least a half a dozen staff from the front desk, to the door person, to maintenance and every single person went above and beyond to help in any way needed. I was amazed! The ONLY potential downfall I can see is the wait for the one and only elevator, but with such friendly people surrounding you while you wait, and the complimentary lemon water in the lobby, it is really a non issue. AND you can always take the stairs! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Such a sweet little place!"
I stayed here while traveling for work and I plan to make this my staple hotel. The location is very central and close to the highway, so that's a plus, however the hood is noisy and the hotel is old. If you're traveling for work, I strongly recommend to request a quiet room. Overall the staff is very accommodating and genuine, and the free breakfast […] in the morning is second to none. Plus, that same cafe at night becomes an ideal spot for a nightcap! "Great Boutique Hotel; Great Location, Awesome Find"
The hotel was a great surprise. The rooms and decor were well appointed and nicely remodeled. Our room as comfortable. The rooms don't have A/C, but since the weather in SF is always mild and cool, you really didn't notice it at all. The Burrit Room is a great place for a cocktail in the afternoon - live music on certain days. The cocktails are unique […] and the servers knowledgeable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed at Mystic for five days to attend a conference for work. Every night when I returned from work, I was personally greeted by the front desk receptionist who asked how my day went. When I needed my boarding pass, the front desk took care of it. When I needed a shuttle, the front desk took care of it. All the employees with whom I interacted - […] from the servers at the bar/restaurant to the house keepers - were very polite, attentive, and helpful, bar none. I never fill out these surveys, but decided to take the time to do this one because I had a nice stay due to the personalized service and want to compliment all the staff. I will return! The Mystic is located in the heart of SF. I would highly recommend this hotel for people who like beautiful, boutique hotels with the same amenities of big name hotels. The morning breakfast was healthy and delicious. One drawback: We burnt up at night due to no A/C.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A good place to stay"
Mystic hotel brings value for the money. Good location, good rooms and great service. After reading the reviews I was concerned about noice, this was not at all an issue (at least in the 7th floor where I was staying). "Centrally located, boutique hotel, European feel"
Fun, friendly staff, room had fun lighting and a bay window. centrally located at the edge of Chinatown, International District Union Square and Civic Center, all a 15-30 minute walk. Breakfast was very good and the same every day: grapefruit/apple +/- banana, hardboiled eggs, granola/cereal/yoghurt, hot cereal, yummy mini pastries especially the mini […] chocolate croissants, sometimes still warm from the oven, and bread and jams/nutella. The crowd was friendly and from all over: Israel, Germany. .. I was on the top floor and it was quiet. We were only staying one night before a planned conference or another part of the city. We got to the hotel and were immediately upgraded to a suite. It was a fabulous room. Perfect hotel for couples; didn't have a great view out the window but that was inconsequential to the fantastic the proximity to union square and every store you can dream of. rooms were modernly decorated, very clean, and perfectly spacious for the city. staff was super accommodating. i read the reviews before staying here about the elevator; not […] a big deal at all...it's an elevator with a door that is not the fastest. not a big deal at all! lovely breakfast. umbrellas at the front desk if you need. would def stay again. "Good breakfast, good location , sub-par room."
The first room stunk of sewage and I had to leave. The 2nd room was OK – tiny with a window that looked out onto a break wall. The complimentary breakfast was great and so was the location. It’s fine when there are no other vacancies in the city, or when everything else is over-priced, but It wouldn’t be my first choice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in SF"
I stayed in this hotel for a week during the conference at Moscone Center. I landed at the SFO airport, then took BART train to Powell station. The fare was $17.30 round trip. After I arrived at Powell station, I walked to the hotel, took me about 10 min. Jason and Eric were very friendly and professional during check-in and check-out. I think one of […] them was on the job training. Moscone center was about 10 min away from the hotel by walk. The breakfast was great. I liked the non-fat yogurt, fruits, and boiled eggs. Great Location, Friendly Staff, Super Clean. Old building & not very well insulated. Very noisy while sleeping at night. The bed was small (full size), hard mattress, with hard pillows. I was not expecting it to have a "Platform Bed" Mattress on top of a hard frame. No box spring. I also did not check "Yelp" as I should. Many past visitors had the same […] feedback. My mistake. The bar was nice with wonderful cocktails & good service. I am not used to sleeping in such a small & uncomfortable bed with my husband. So, I had a few bad nights of sleep. "good with the bad"
overall a good value for SF, with some good and some bad aspects. Good= Burritt Room is a hot spot and located on 2nd floor within the hotel. Bad= wireless network so slow it's unusable. Also, the one and only elevator is also so slow you'll end up walking up and down the stairs rather than wait 5 minutes every time you want a "lift"Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"a walk away from anything"
We really enjoyed the hotel. We were able to walk to almost anyplace we needed around China Town, Union Square, or Nob Hill. The bar in the hotel is great and a super stop to finish the day. The hotel was clean, the rooms were comfortable, the staff very friendly. It was great to stay in a nice hotel that wasn't a chain, and that had lots of charm and unique attributes. "Great Location in Union Square."
The hotel staff was great. My wife and I loved the location, parking right across the street. Breakfast, that is free, has a very nice assortment of breads pastries, quiche and hand boiled eggs. The closet space is very small. If you plan on spending more than 2 days at this spot be prepaired to work out of your suitcase.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant Surprise Getaway"
We enjoyed as a romantic getaway even though we live only 40 miles away. We would not have done so if it hadn't been for the Hotels.com special discount. Rooms are smaller than the average hotel but it was not a problem for us. We also had dinner downstairs (Burritt Tavern) where we have eaten before and highly recommend. The hotel is very convenient […] to just about everything - food, shopping, transportation and cab availability is not a problem. Tourists should not be deterred by the outer appearance of the building. This is truly a boutique hotel and lives up to its retro style. We had our car but never used it - we just parked across the street and was $54 from 5:30pm on Friday to 3:00pm on Sunday. Would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
