"I left my heart at The Mytic"
Great staff. Breakfast included was definitely a plus. They let us check in early. Rooms are small but adorable and clean. Noise level is a little high but I guess walls are thin being it's an older building and being in the city what can you expect. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel despite reservation mix-up"
The hotel made an error in my reservation, and when I arrived at 1am in the morning, they did not have a room for me. Luckily there was a no show, so they let me check-in at 2:30am, but otherwise I would have been stranded. The manager was able to work out the issue upon check-out, after confirming the details of their error with hotels.com. Surprisingly, […] this was something the night staff was not enabled to do. Otherwise, this is a great hotel. The rooms are small but very comfortable and nicely appointed. The complimentary breakfast is outstanding and the hotel bar rivals your favorite craft cocktail hangout. Location can't be beat - close to shopping, transit, businesses, and tourist sites. "Excessive credit charges"
The exit statement had several charges then credits It showed a credit of $68.40 and a 0 balance when I checked my bank account they had double charged me for one day of parking. So I checked the statement again and they had charged my card twice for room key then credited it and charged twice for parking and credited but actually charged my card for […] two days of parking even though the exit statement said it was credited. "Lots of charm"
I'm from the NY area, so I'm accustomed to small hotel rooms. While that may be a deal-breaker for some, I find them charming and personable. The Mystic delivered in both respects. And to boot, there's a wonderful restaurant on the second floor. I would definitely go back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Slow check-in, partially used items in bathroom"
Customer ahead of me booked two rooms online, but only one room was available to him and his colleague. Desk staff was unable to resolve the problem. I waited 25 minutes, and finally that very nice customer ahead of me instructed the desk clerk to check me in and then deal with his problem. When I got to my room, I found a used towel, an open, used […] soap bar on the sink counter and trash in the bathroom waste basket. "Funky Boutique Hotel just Above Union Square"
I stayed 4 nights - fantastic location - 1 block up from Union Square. The hotel is very funky - the floor walls are black and fushia carpeting - felt a little like being in the movie the Shining...room was really cute - bathroom small but nice shower. Would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beware of Room on 3rd Floor"
Booked last minute on Expedia. After seeing rooms for $400 earlier in the we, we somehow got a room for about $200 which seemed "cheap", the catch was when we got there we had a room with barred windows facing an alley with garbage cans and staff smoking. Garbage trucks and deliver trucks woke us up before the sun came up. Couldn't open up the windows […] at night to cool down the room because we didn't want to give up the privacy of people looking in our window or listening to us. For $250 or more i would much rather stayed at the grand Hyatt two blocks down the street and knew what i was getting. Mystic isn't horrible but the room we got was the worst I've ever stayed in. "Would stay here again."
Very clean rooms. Rooms were nice and comfy, the decor was great as well. Very nice staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Would have been nice to have the parking included in your stay. I know it's located downtown but I was under the impression that they had free parking. Room was a little too small. Not too much of a biggie since we only stayed a night. Other than that the location was good and the so way the stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had a wonderful experience at the pickwick hotel. I received a free upgrade when I booked in early because my room was not ready. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review
Loved this hotel, nice room and a great breakfast. The only issue was the elevator, which is very old and slow. We got stuck in it on our way out for a couple minutes, long enough for panic to set in. It is very small and it is not clear how many people can actually go on it, so I would avoid the elevator at all costs, they need to replace it with a […] new one asap! "Awesome location, nice little place."
Great place. Small but nice room. Great bar and food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was situated in a great area. It was centrally located to shopping and restaurants. Only downsides were the slow elevator and no air conditioning. There was a fan in the room which helped. I would stay here again due to location and great price for the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Prior to checking in the women at the front desk was rude. After pulling up our reservation her attitude changed. Not sure if related to booking the reservation thru Expedia(mix reviews about staff prior to booking)? The rest of the staff was nice and helpful. Rooms were small, but clean. Breakfast was good and location was close to a lot of restaurants. […] Safe to walk at night. No A/C or fridge in the room. Would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"No A/C and fly infestation in the shower"
Should have read the reviews. When I asked the front desk clerk about air conditioning, she gave me the snarky response of "oh yea, we need A/C, it was a whole 64 degrees today". When I got in the room it was warm, and the only way I could cool it was to open the windows, which overlooked a dark and dirty alley. The fans were loud, the one over the […] bed squeaked. The showed was nasty. When I turned it on, flies began appearing out of no where. I'm talking about dozens of flies - crawling up the wall out of the drain, making their way up the shower wall, some flying around. I've never seen anything like it. I'm always in a hurry on business trips so I didn't have time to complain and demand a new room, so I dealt with it. When I told the front desk clerk at checkout, he just stared at me, then said I could wait to talk to the manager. I was late for an event, so I couldn't. I told him that it was "bad review bad". Didn't seem to phase him. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great, short stay at Mystic Hotel"

"Lovely gem in the Union Square / Financial Area"
I loved this hotel. The rooms were stylish and very comfortable. It had a beautiful old world sort of charm not found in the 'chain' hotels where I often stay. I am keeping this hotel in my preferred list. The location was very convenient to everywhere in Union Square as well as Chinatown. The staff was very helpful and professional.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Mystic is a cool boutique hotel near Chinatown and Union Square. My room was totally adorable (not too big but that didn't matter, especially for solo traveler). Bathroom was big, though, and shower was great. No air conditioning but overhead fan helped and was able to get another fan brought to the room. Bed was super comfortable and felt really clean […] (duvet covers as opposed to exposed blankets). Was given room on 8th floor facing away from street, so it was very quiet. The only hitch is the slow-as-molasses elevator, which makes up and down to the 8th floor a time-challenge. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good place if price is right"
Went to SF for one night to go to Giants NLCS game, which they won! Anyway, just wanted to find someplace with good rating that did not cost $250 a night. I got a great price on Hotels.com, and was very satisfied with my stay. It is comfortable, and the staff go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. It could use some cleanup in the common […] areas, and the elevator definitely needs some attention. But, overall satisfied. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"go for the drinks not for the stay."
We loved the bar and the breakfast in the morning. I would go back for drinks there in a heartbeat. The rooms were cute but very warm. It was an usually hot day in the city. No AC and the one window didn't create much air circulation. The TV didn't work when we got in late and wanted to wind down. the hotel told us they would give a 10% discount on […] the room but never did. I liked the look of the hotel but the service was poor. I did love the look and feel of this boutique hotel! Definitely stop by for a drink at the bar at the hotel (Burritt-Room-Tavern) Had great drinks made by an impressive mixologist. The breakfast spread was also really good. They served it every morning in the restaurant. The room was really nice, my only complaints were that our room was pretty small, […] but wasn’t uncomfortable. We also had a great view of the parking garage wall and ally, which wasn’t ideal. "Pleasant hotel stay"
I was just there in on business overnight, so my thoughts should be weighed into my brief exposure. That said, it couldn't have been more positive. This place is pretty awesome! We were pleasantly surprised by how cool the updated rooms are, the exposed bricks were awesome with the more modern decor...I wish the room we had was in my house. "Very nice hotel with helpful staff"
The first room we were put in was on the top floor - a nice room with a terrible view! It was actually looking across an alley into the bathroom of the apartment next door. We could see the toilet seat up all the time we were there and on one occasion the back side of someone peeing! At this price that was unacceptable. So after our first night there […] we spoke with the concierge who immediately said he could move us down a flight to a room with a city view. The second room was lovely with a bay window (and windows that opened... so nice since it was 80 during the day and cool at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I struggled with a few things in this hotel: no long hanging area for dresses (only long enough for shirts or pants) and no countertop in the bathroom, but overall my bed and room were comfortable. The best part of this hotel is definitely the restaurant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Customer Service, Great Room, Great Location"
We were on our honeymoon and traveled California from San Diego up north and ended up in Reno. We stayed here during our San Francisco stay. This place was amazing! We absolutely loved being in the heart of it all. Just a block away from the historic San Francisco trolly system, a block from great shopping and parks and walking distance to Chinatown, Lombard Street and even Fisherman's Wharf! We walked to Ghiradelli Square and weren't bothered by it, but it was a bit of a walk, so if you're not conditioned for […] steep hills that the City is famous for, you'll want to use the trolly, but like I said, it stops one block from this hotel. Ambiance in the hotel reminded us so much of Europe and we fell in love with it instantly. This nostalgic hotel was probably the neatest hotel we've stayed in in the US and featured a great bar by night and brunch spot by morning. "Vera at the front desk rocks!"
A lovely little boutique hotel made all the better by Vera at the Front Desk. Each of my interactions with her exemplified the same warmth and she made my stay there worth considering going back! […] The hotel is lovely, vintage cute! We checked in on a Friday & the blind in our room - over the main window overlooking the street - was broken. No way to open it which kept the room dark & with a closed in feeling. Maintenance was "off for the weekend" - so it was our reality all weekend. Also, constant bass beat from band made it hard to sleep till after midnight.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent place to stay for a conference"
The Mystic Hotel was a perfect place to stay while I was in San Francisco to attend a conference. The staff were helpful, efficient, and friendly - at my request, they assigned me to a QUIET room at […] the back of the hotel - and the room was clean and comfortable. "Stylish, artsy hotel in a great location. Love it"
I came across this hotel by accident but what a happy accident it was. On arrival I was immediately upgraded to a Queen room by reception. The creaky old lift and dark, spotlight-lit red-carpeted corridors were a dramatic contrast to the super clean and uber stylish room - with exposed brick walls, luxury bedding linens, marble bathroom and gourmet […] snack bar. The room was a good size and had the stylish sense of being both chic and cool all at the same time. Breakfast was included and was in the second floor dining room which doubles as a smooth, relaxed jazz bar issuing sleek cocktails at night. A great stay and only 2 blocks to Union Square and China town. Can't wait to go back.. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great boutique hotel"
Not on the radar as a typical touristy hotel si is what we wanted. Has a great vintage vibe, the room was small but perfect for two people, very comfortable bed, best complimentary breakfast we've ever had at a hotel (fresh fruit, lots of warm pastries, hard boiled eggs, bagels, Starbucks coffee, very European free breakfast- much better than cold cereal […] and pre-packaged muffins like some places). "Charming, Friendly Hotel in a Great Location"
The Mystic Hotel is a great alternative to the large, corporate hotels in the area. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The front desk helped me catch the right bus/train to Sacramento and find a place for breakfast that was open early. […] They are a short walk from Union Square but not right in the middle of the tourist bustle. I appreciated that breakfast was included.
