Arrived and booked late. We checked in as our booking came through their system causing a little consternation. Finished up staying an extra night ( 3 in total ) and would love to go back again in the future. Stayed in room 109 the room over the Library - outstanding. If you are looking for the feel of an old hotel, this one might be your choice. We stayed on the third floor, at the front of the hotel. There is a nice deck, at the back, on each level, that few others used. You also can go down the steps outside to get to the street, rather than walking through the main entrance. Charming town house restoration in the old waterfront area with a knowledgable, friendly staff. All interior areas are in excellent, understated but elegant condition. Free parking was secure and convenient; breakfast quality was first rate. Within walking distance of historic, governmental, shopping and entertainment venues. When I traval alone, I look for a small, personal hotel. I certainly found that in the Halliburton House Inn. When I made my reservations online, then spoke with them by phone I learned there was no elevator. This information played a major role in the size of travel case I took with me, small. It was a wise decision. Upon arriving to the Inn I felt […] as though I had stepped back in time. The people were welcoming and friendly and did all they could to see that my stay there was safe and comfortable. Someone assisted me getting my suitcase to the second floor. My room was cozy with plenty of closet and storage space. It contained a queen four-poster bed and sitting area in one room. The bathroom was large enough to move around easily. There was a hair dryer, the usual amenities and plenty of towels, a very modern coffeemaker, the type that uses a container you set into the pot. I didn't use it as there wasn't any decaf in the hotel. There was a full closet (iron and board), with a door. My room had a door to a lovely balcony overlooking a small garden below. Hotel was located downtown and close to everything. There was parking on or just offsite if you had brought a car. Breakfast was continental-style and included cold ham, hard-boiled eggs and beans. I really really wanted to love this hotel. They were painting when I arrived (freshening up, which is good) and it had a strong odor but not unpleasant. However, my room had a stronger underlying smell somewhere between sauerkraut and cabbage cooking that i think was in the carpet and bothered me the whole night. Very nice hotel, provides parking in back. Must climb stairs to the rooms so be prepared. Staff very nice, excellent continental breakfast downstairs. Well appointed. Our room was somewhat small, but comfortable.

The Halliburton is a set of three historic houses converted to a boutique hotel in Halifax near the old waterfront. All the charms of a small home, and the conveniences of a larger hotel with much more personalized service. Stories, the first floor restaurant, is excellent, and like dining at a friend's house.

Our room was very small. Next time, I would opt for a larger room. This was no one's fault but mine. The staff was wonderful, food good, and our room was very clean. Parking was included on site.

Don't come here unless you like hiking stairs with your luggage! The breakfast was lovely but we had to walk outside to the next building in the rain to get it. The room was really big and lovely but that did not outweigh the lack of an elevator and the walknin the rain for breakfast. Would not come here again.

The Haliburton Hotel in Halifax Nova Scotia is a sweet boutique hotel with all the amenities, free parking, and is close to the wharf area of Halifax. The hotel is housed in a historic building and has a lot of character. I especially liked the quiet courtyard behind the hotel with its peaceful garden setting and fountain, and the awesome curved stairs […] inside which lead to the second and third floors in the building we stayed in-- The Lithgow House, two doors down from the main hotel building. My only complaint was that our particular room had centrally controlled air conditioning, and it was a bit on the warm side - probably because we were on the top floor, and happened to visit during an unseasonably warm spell. Otherwise, everything was very nice, and I would not hesitate to stay there again and would definitely recommend it to others! Read more

NIce small hotel. Felt like a bed and breakfast. Friendly staff. Showed extra care and did the little things that make a stay memorable. A few blocks from downtown proper, but easily accessible and slightly off the beaten track and that made it even more enjoyable.

Helpful staff, convenient location, and delicious breakfast. Air conditioning was not turned on soon enough when weather got hot. Hotel employees were unable to turn on AC. They said the AC system was totally computerized.

The first thing one notices when arriving at the Haliburton Hotel is the down home charm of the place. It feels as if you are staying at a friend's place, or a distant relative's place instead of a hotel. The Staff were extremely polite, helpful, and accommodating. A big thumbs up to Dave at the front desk for helping to improve our stay with his suggestion […] of room type, permanent smile, and follow through on our requests. The breakfast in the morning (which was included) was delightful. From the server, to the cleaning staff of the hotel, everybody was super nice! The Halliburton is my preferred hotel in Halifax. The tasty breakfast, the character of the establishment,and the comfortable bed and linens more than make up for the lack of an elevator. The garden in the summer is a delightful retreat. In the winter my room is as cosy as toast. Am already looking forward to my next stay.

charming hotel with great staff. easy walking distance to the waterfront. the only issue there was with the room i was in was it did not have climate control and it was chilly. there is a small space heater provided, but i was weary to leave it on overnight while i was sleeping. other than that, great hotel and i would definitely go back

Dresser smelled of moth balls making it unusable. Shower curtain smelled of mildew. Breakfast pleasant with very friendly staff. Hotel well located for walking around Halifax.

Quaint, quiet, comfortable accommodations in the heart of Halifax. There are 3 buildings that make up the inn, and your room may be on the 3rd floor, as ours was, of a very old, but refurbished home, so be prepared for that with your luggage, or your knees if that's the case. Not a good choice for someone who can't do stairs, but for those of us who […] can, worth it for sure. Breakfast is adequate, but because it doesn't change from day to day, can get boring if you are staying for more than a few days. Wifi service was spotty, not sure what was wrong, but once it was fixed, it worked well and was appreciated. We walked to restaurants and shops, and the waterfront is just around the corner. Nice place, nice staff. If you have a heavy suitcase, please know you will have to carry it to your room, which might be in a different building and the stairs are very narrow to rest your suitcase on. Paint was peeling above the shower, doesn't look good but rest of room was perfect. If you're a light sleeper, definitely make sure you're not the first […] room on the main floor because I woke up several times to people going in and out of the building because the two doors slam right on the other side of your bed wall. Great breakfast, lovely buildings, great location, 5 minutes to the market and very pretty architecture on that street. You step out and there's the water to your right and a great little cafe.
