We were totally happy with our stay at Baymont Inn! Kathy (at the front desk) was extremely nice & helpful both when I called a few days early for details & again upon our arrival. Our freshly remodeled room was spacious, very clean and nice and quiet. The new mattress & down bedding were very comfortable. The pool & hot tub were clean & attractive. […] The complimentary continental breakfast was the best, including the likes of biscuits & gravy, bacon, cheese omelets, fresh fruit, yogurt, English muffins, etc. We have stayed at many hotels in the last few years, but Baymont easily ranks at the top of the list. Overall a great stay. The staff was absolutely fantastic. They made you feel right at home and did everything they could to ensure a happy guest. The room was comfortable. It would've been nice to have a microwave and a mini refrig in the room. Also a flat screen tv and maybe a recliner. We usually stay at the Comfort Suites in Mattoon and only stayed at the Baymont because the other does not allow pets. The room was disappointing. The rug looked dirty and ugly. The smell was not good. The furniture was all beat up looking. No fridge or microwave. The pillows and bed were pretty decent though. Our stay was terrible! The staff was friendly and clearly trying to do their best given what they had to work with. The hotel was in disrepair although maintenance was trying hard to fix things Our room had visible water damage that had been painted over perhaps in an attempt to hide it? The room smelled musty and moldy by morning I could hardly breath […] and all our clothes smelled musty. Even with the ac going it was damp and gross. Even the money in my wallet was damp by morning. The staff at the front desk were rude and not qualified to do there job. The pool was closed for remodeling but no where on either Baymont.con or hotels.com did it disclose this. I called Baymont customer service and they took my complaint assuring me the hotel manager would contact me with in 48 hours. They are all foam mattresses and are either liked or disliked dependent on a person's preference. As for the blankets, I am not sure why you were told that they were "stolen" by a staff member that should not of been said and I am handling that. We have been running short on the extra heavier blankets because as guests request them for their rooms they have decided to take them home with them when they leave so our number on hand has been slim. Again, I apologize for the misleading information but I assure we do not have someone here stealing from the hotel or our guests. "4 night stay"
The continental breakfast was good. The waffle machine broke the morning I wanted waffles. The coffee container was empty twice. Had to wait to get my morning cup. Maybe someone should be more on top of this since it WAS in the early morning and there were others waiting also. The one area which I was not appreciative at all was my bed did not get changed […] with clean sheets daily. I know they were not changed because I was in the room one morning and all housekeeping did was make the bed. The sheets kept coming loose on the corners and finally I went to the front desk and asked for clean sheets. I don't know if they were changed that morning or not. There were two people in our room but housekeeping only left enough linen and supplies for 1 person. I or my husband had to go ask for what we needed. This was unacceptable. Also, not very good vacuuming , if any, in our room. We were close to where we wanted and access was very convenient. This is the first time I have been disappointed in Baymont Inns after staying here prior times. Would really like to see the housekeeping staff do a better job. The hotel itself is kind of a "you get what you pay for" thing. Wasn't bad, but nothing great. If you're looking for a place to crash with a small pool and hot tub, you'll be fine. The breakfast was okay too, but nothing too fancy. My one negative comment would be the staff - if you wanted to hire people more rude and totally uncaring I don't think […] it would be possible. First our room was overlooked for bath towels; no big deal-it happens. But when we asked for some we were given the 3rd degree. Later in the day in the pool area again they were out of towels; we asked and were told they had none-use your room towels (good thing we had already gotten those). At breakfast they ran out of cups for beverages but they were not going to make an effort to get any, so back to the room for cups, etc. Not the worst experience ever, and the price was reasonable enough so all in all - I'd say fair. Tried this hotel for first time and was not very happy with condition. We came to visit with grandchildren and found the pool was not very well maintained (I could not see the bottom of the pool it was so cloudy and the hot tub was the same. the rooms need updating to stay current with the compitition in the neiborhood. We apologize that your stay has left a negative impression as far as your future stays in our area. After looking back into the notes from the date range of your stay, our pool had had chemicals added to it which causes a cloudy appearance that takes up to 2 days to clear. We just recently drained the pool and refilled it (done annually) and I assure you that the chemicals are checked daily and if the reading is off it is immediately put out of order. In recent months we have went under new management and are in the process of a finalizing a property improvement plan for the hotel so that updates are completed.
