"a "quality" Inn."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very comfortable bed and sufficient space to enjoy our stay. Location was excellent and easy to access the Interstate. It was not a true 'suite' in that there was not separate rooms, only a half wall that divided the bed area from the lounging area, however if the sofa is to be used the half wall is a good feature.

"Off Season Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
The hotel was nice and well located. It was near the downtown area which made it nice for my family who came with me on the trip. The staff was friendly and helpful with whatever I needed. The hotel itself was nice including the room which was decorated lodge style. I came off season so there were very few people there which made it nice and quiet for us. One complaint would be that it had no AC. The hotel offered box fans so we opened a window to pull some cool air in. This was not an issue but might have been if we were there during regular season and had people out in the pool area making noise. The room also had a washer and dryer. When we used the dryer it could make the room quite hot and uncomfortable if a fan was not going and a window was not open. The only other minor complaint would be the placement of some furniture. The room we were in had a couch which had a hide away bed. Across from it was another chair. My kids slept on the bed so when it was out you had barely enough room ( approx. 1 foot) to maneuver past. Other than that it was a great stay.

"Rock Resorts steals money and will lie about it"
I recently stayed at this hotel (my 2nd occasion), and was charged $300,00 for smoking in the room when it did not occur. Of the 3 in our party, one of them smoked outside on the patio, the door remained opened at the time. When I was notified of this charge at check out the blond woman manager on duty was just plain rude and stated "the charges are […] not negotiable". When Hotels.com was notified of my complaint they called the hotel and promptly were lied to stating that I admited to them I smoked in the room. I can understand employees that require additional social interpersonal relationship skills training, but the gaul to steal from me then lie about it takes the cake. Recently, Rock Resorts was fired from managing the Hotel Jerome in Aspen, Colorado after the ownership discovered many Rock Resorts deficiencies in the operation of the Hotel, we now can see why. I would recommend that people seeking lodging not book with Rock Resorts because they are dishonest. Read more
"superior staff, superior location"
On arriving by car, I parked in a spot to avoid the valet and charges ... to my surprise a valet came running out to greet me, asked if I had skis and if I was going skiing tomorrow. When I said "Yes", he took the skis, and luggage and said the skis would be waiting by the lift for me in the morning. From the first "Hello" to the last "Farewell", the […] stay was superior. It does cost more, but this is one of the very few times I felt that I was at a true "value added" establishment. Read more

"Snowboard getaway at The Lodge at Vail"
Amazing hotel in a perfect location. Each person we came in contact with was extremely friendly and were able to accommodate each request we had, which seemed like a lot since we were traving with a 2 year old. The studio room was spacious and perfect for our needs. The balcony was great and the fireplace was a great addition to our trip. We will definitely […] return to this resort and other Rock Resorts properties! 5-star in my book! Read more

"Nice, needs a little facelift, but overall nice"
This is an older facility and in some places you can really tell. Our room was fine, a two bedroom suite, privately owned. It was comfortable and had all the amenities needed. Bathrooms were updated nicely but very small. You can't beat the location, it doesn't get much better than this. The service was good, staff is polite and very responsive. Also, […] the bellman were fantastic, very helpful. Read more
WE BOOKED ON LINE AND THE LODGE EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS. THE 4 FREE NEWSPAPERS WERE A NICE TOUCHS. THE FRONT DESK STAFF, BELLMAN AND CONSCIERGE WERE ALL EXCELLENT.
Place was great! Clean, friendly. The valet guys were very helpful on info of what to do in the area! Location is great and I would absolutely recommend!

"The Lodge at Vail"
Stayed at The Lodge for a reunion vacation with 8 family members. We rented a 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo that was perfect for that many people. Very comfortable accomodations. Great service and a perfect location for shopping/dining/hiking. Would definately stay there again. Hotel staff was top-notch.
"The Lodge Vail Colorado"
Nice place, people were friendly, helpful. Rooms are NOT Air Conditioned. Difficult to get it to cool down in the summer. The movie feature on the TV (as advertised) was not functional. Disappointing.
"Excellent Location"
The hotel is situated just off the center of Vail. The rear entrance opens to a pedestrian mall with great restaurants and shops. It was a slow period but the service and cheerfullness of the staff was terrific. Good sized room with a great mattress. Separate shower and tub.
"Lodge at Vail"
Beautiful room, close to lifts, most accommodating staff. Checked in early, room was not available, so I checked my bags at the Bell desk and went skiing. Came back from skiing and my room was ready and the bags were placed in the room.
"the lodge vail"
The accommodation was not as described. Dining room service very slow, breakfast eggs could take 30 minutes hot water often did not arrive at all.Room service was so bad that after three attempts on the same evening we gave up and went out for pizza. The final straw was when we were leaving a staff member has lost the safe keys and we were delayed for […] one and a half hours while they got a locksmith in to open the safe. This is a hotel in a great position with appalling management. Read more

"Not so impressive"
The room was very hot and could not be controlled. There was no thermostat in the room - it was managed by the hotel. Had to open and close the window throughout the night - exhausting! Arrived back to room one day around 6:00 PM and the room still had not been cleaned. This was a very expensive room. The hotel is old and is nice only because of its […] proximity to the ski lift. It has been remodelled recently and is average at best. Much nicer options available for the expense in Lionshead Village. The bellmen were fantastic. They graciously provide the hotel car for transportation throughout the village. Read more
"Lodge at Vail"
The hotel has been nicely refurbished, but some of the older rooms remind you of the 60's. The front desk staff was young and seemed to be in training. They we very nice, but need a great deal of polish. At breakfast we again had a very nice service staff but totally ill trained. I was completely surprised when our server was resetting a nearby table […] and took out an iron to press the table cloth right on the table. Hardly the correct thing to do at supposed 4 to 5 star hotel! In all the room was good, the bathroom better, but the staff needed training from the bottom up. This is not the staff's fault - they were all very nice, but rather a terrible indication of poor management. They should have never have let the new staff start with such poor preparation. The hotel has great potential, and I would have recommended it if the I did not know that there were better places to stay in Vail at the Lodge's star rating that provide a much better level of service. "Uncomfortable Sleep"
The room was very hot as there is was no AC which made sleeping was uncomfortable and difficult. The staff was pleasant and the room was nice. I would however not return during a the summer months.
"The Lodge at Vail, Vail, Colorado"
Normally, I do not do negative reviews but this hotel IN SUMMER was so bad that I really need to warn you away. NO AIR conditioning, is the first problem, but limited opening of doors, windows and insufficient fans just exacerbated the issue. In 90+ degree weather, this is just not acceptable. Then, lights without working light bulbs, electrical outlets […] that don't electrify, TV that doesn't work, lacking room service, small rooms and small baths that all things equal aren't important but just add to the bad. Maybe the hotel works in winter but it/they don't in summer. Read more
Our first stay in Vail and the hotel was absolutely fantastic! It is very, very close to Vail Village. The room was very clean and had a balcony (with table and chairs). The beds were by far the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. We also had breakfast at one of the restaurants in the hotel (Wildflower) and the food was wonderful, as was the […] view of their beautiful gardens. I wish that we had planned to stay more than one night. I cannot wait to revisit Vail and I will definitely be staying here! Read more

"Hot"
No A/C in the rooms, which were extremely hot at night. We had to open the windows and were woken up late at night by all the noise from people outside. Then couldn't get back to sleep for hrs because of the heat. Horrible night's sleep. Hotel and staff were nice though. Would not recommend staying in the summer, but I bet it's great in the winter […] months. Read more
"The Lodge at Vail"
Very good hotel. Room with double-beds very tight however. Staff accommodating. Location can't be beat. Older hotel but in fine shape throughout.
"Great Facility"
Everything was nice. Beware of the steep "resort fee" that is added on top of your room charge. A bit much once you add it to the cost of the hotel for the night.

"Great Stay"
Wish I was there in season. Great shops and bars in walking distance. Only thing missing was the snow!
"Spa"
The 50 min. massage was nice, but not exceptional. After the massage the water was picked up very quickly so when I returned from the hot tub, there was no water to be found in the ladies locker room/ relaxation room. I would have appreciated having that available there.
"Excellent hotel."
Awesome hotel, anytime of year. Fabulous ski in location at the base of vail village. Wonderful staff, beautiful rooms, great event staff. Highest possible recommendation.

"The Lodge at Vail"
This hotel is in an excellent location in central Vail. The facility itself is a little "worn" as are many ski lodges, but management seems to try hard to keep up with the maintenance. For the price it was a very good value.
"Excellent Value"
The hotel is in a great location with access within walking distance to everything in Vail. The room was very nice, although a little small. A great value in a beautiful location. I would highly recommend it.
