"The character of the hotel is just right."
The character and location of the hotel makes it just right to enjoy the French Quarter. Walking distance to just about everything. Classic historical building.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Wow what a town"
We had a wonderful time in New Orleans. The food, the shops, the tours and the entertainment were certainly enjoyed by us. We will return.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was excited to stay in the hotel, middle of everything. Jackson Square right outside hotel. The room was not ready and we had to wait until 4 o'clock before we were allowed in our room. When we went to the room, it had a smell of dampness and the carpet was wet. The bell boy and the valet for the car were nice and helpful. But the lady that checked […] us in told us our room would be ready for 3 and then said we couldn't go to the room until 4. Disappointed thought room available at 3. We usually stay out side of the French Quater because of the noise level on the streets. However with Place de Arms being located on St. Ann's located between Bourbon Street and Jackson Square it's in a relatively quiet area of the French quarter but convenient to all attractions. It's not a "cookie cutter" chain hotel, and that's refreshing!!!! Recommend […] it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel needs some upgrades, a lot of the rooms are tiny and have no windowsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is in an excellent location and close to most all French Quarter activities. it was an easy walk to get to excellent dining and activities. the room was small and as a result was not too comfortable but that is to be expected in an older hotel in the French Quarter. The room could have been a little fresher. The staff service was very good. […] I recommend this hotel for a visit in the French Quarter and would stay there again. "Centrally located, quaint and friendly staff"
I would definitely stay here again - it was close enough to the action, but not loud whatsoever. The wifi was free and reliable and they even offer continental breakfast. I would ask that parking be reduced a bit more for guests, but otherwise it was a pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to french quarter"
Beautiful garden courtyard. Room was very nice. Small continental breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything we wanted to see"

Super place!Genuine Expedia guest review
Staff was so friendly and helpful. Great location. Room was beautiful and great price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was not ready at check in time. Waiting almost an hour for the room to be available. Front desk clerk was extremely hateful about the entire experience. She did not give directions to room and we had to wonder around the courtyard until a very helpful bellman helped us.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cant get a better location, or cleaner."
This is the most unique hotel I have stayed at. Clean and nicely up dated. They have their own parking garage. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Can't beat the location!! The breakfast was pretty lame, but everything else was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Amazing location and hotel!!"
The service was amazing from the front desk to the valet to the bellhop. My girlfriend and I went for a birthday weekend. The location was perfect and the hotel had so much character! Our room was an interior room with no windows but that was actually a plus since we could sleep in after long nights on Bourbon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It was great!!"
It was so easy to get to EVERYWHERE in the French quarter. You are literally right next to Cafe Du Monde, tons of restaurants, Tour pick up spots, etc.....yet you are 2 streets / blocks away from the craziness of Burboun st. Our room was small, not quite used to a queen bed. It was nice to have such close access to the hotel to drop off stuff we bought […] and to go pee!! It was fine that the room was small, we weren't in it much. Beautiful courtyard too. My only complaint is that on the weekends it's still super loud outside ALL night. We wore earplugs which helped us sleep. It wasn't bad during the week, but Friday and sat we're just loud. We did have a room on the exterior of the hotel with windows, maybe some of the inside ones with the courtyard views would not be as noisy. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is the second time we've stayed here. It was just as fantastic as the first time. This is a great location. The rooms are large and comfortable. Very traditional New Orleans - not commercial like so many places in the Quarter. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The whole place has a very relaxed air. This is definitely an "old" New Orleans feel […] - authentic. There must be a hundred restauraunts within two blocks. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Quaint hotel. Stayed here many times and each time the room is "different". Some are nicer than others so it's the luck of the draw I guess. Never have had a bad experience here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Love this Place"
I went there on a quick weekend trip and this was my first time staying here, and this hotel was on my bucket list for a while. The room was small, but quaint, exactly what I expected and was looking for. The bathroom was on the small side, but the shower head was strong and that is a huge plus in my book. The bed was extremely comfortable, as was the […] pillow. My room was on the 3rd floor in the rear left corner, I think 323. This room had no windows. Some may think that this bad, I loved it because my room was pitch black and I had the best sleep!!! The court yard is very old and cozy, you can tell the bricks have been here for a long time and have seen many travelers and history. The pool is small but good enough for cooling off and was sipping a drink in. I do study up on hotels in NO and know that this is a haunted hotel, even though the staff denies that there are ghost. I was hoping to hear something or see something strange, but nothing on this trip. This was a school for boys at one time and burnt during one of the fires of NO. Several children died as well as the school's headmaster. There are many stories that refer to people hearing noises of children or even seeing the headmaster. As for location you are steps from Jackson's Square and 2 blocks from Bourbon. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location. Close to everything."
The hotel is old and not very well maintained, but its location is its saving grace. Everything is within walking distance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the location was perfect, my husband uses a cane, and the surrounding restaurants/stores were centrally located where we could go back to the hotel to rest....then get back to enjoying the scenery.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"$31.00 for PARKING"
$31.00 parking is exescive but hotel is nice people who work there do not like their jobsGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Bellhop was great; front desk personnel almost rude, room was very, very small but adequate. Location is fantastic. Would stay again for a good rate. Forget breakfast here, lots of places in the quarter.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Place de Armes was great!! Very uniquely New Orleans!! The court yard and pool are fantastic! The staff is super friendly and helpful! The rooms are small but quaint. The only negative that I can say is that it is loud. The a/c units turning on and off are very noisy and you can hear every door open and close around you all night long. But it is a small […] price to pay for the location and to not have a cookie cutter hotel! I look forward to staying here again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Historical French Quarter Hotel!!"
The staff was unbelievably friendly and accommodating. All their suggestions panned out beautifully. The location is in the heart of the French Quarter making it easily accessible to activity and events. If you enjoy walking, this is the place to stay. "Our trip to NOLA"
This hotel is what I like. Quaint and has character. The staff was great and we loved the pool and Courtyard. A great place to meet and mingle with the other guests. The staff was very helpful with directions and ideas.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Our room and the hallways need upgrading"
Our room smelled like stinky feet and the carpets in the room, hallways and stairs in our area need cleaning or change outs. The location is great however and the courtyard is charming.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Place to stay"
Stayed at the Place d'Armes en route to watch Bama play Texas A&M. Located right in the middle of the french quarter almost equidistant to Bourbon street and Jackson Square. Great staff and clean facilities. There is a breakfast bar downstairs but it is mostly filled with pastries. However, they do serve french market coffee which is a plus in my book! hotel is good but no customer parking although the hotel had its own parking lot they chatged us with $30 and when we argued that we stay at the hotel they simply answer its hotel policy also some of the staff at desk not friendly i will never choose this hotel againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hostorical hotel in French quarter"
This was my fourth time staying here. I choose this hotel because of its location and ambience. However, I have grown to know that the beds here are still horrible! This last visit I stayed in a junior suite hoping the bed would be softer instead of feeling all the springs. No such luck.. Yes, I will return, but I really wish for the price that we must […] pay, that more comfortable beds were offered. Thank you Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect location in the French Quarter!"
Location was perfect, adjacent to Jackson Square on the quieter side. Two blocks to Pat O'Briens and to Cafe du Monde and the French market. Walk or take a bicycle taxi anywhere within 5 minutes. Parking on site and reasonable and safe. Reception staff was always helpful and friendly. The courtyard is well maintained and lush with tropical plants. Pool […] was inviting and small, but large enough to enjoy with other guests. The room we had was accessible only by stairs, and had a balcony overlooking the corner of the park. Huge room with a nonworking fireplace. Clean and very comfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Charming hotel in the French Quarter"
Great location, a block from Jackson Square and 2 blocks from Bourbon St. Adorable courtyard, balconies and rooms (ours had an old fireplace). We loved it!!! My only complaint is that housekeeping was knocking on the door way too early in the morning. Make sure u put out your do not disturb sign.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location in The Quarter"
We had a great, unusual room. Very comfortable. Staff were great at check-in. Not so great at check out. Although we had been assured that staff was available 24 hours a day (we asked because we had to leave early), no one was available to assist us with our bags at 6 am. Nobody would answre the phone at the front desk. Difficult because the room we […] were in required you to go up steps (no ramp). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"New Orleans- Place d'Arms"
Breakfast is sparce and staff is not overly friendly or helpful; parking's expensive; and lobby smelled like old urine. However, great location for walking the French Quarter, bed was comfortable, and the court yard was charming. Nice stay for history buffs. Overall, not bad for the price and the location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint old charming hotel. Lots of creaking noises"
It has a great location and a lot of New Orleans charm. Rooms need better lighting and a bit noisy with the sound of doors opening and closing and people moving around in other rooms. Everything else was pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Windows not used"
I payed extra for windows but was given room on the first floor with "windows" but we couldn't open the curtains because it was on the street. Other than that hotel was ok. I liked the old feel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Breakfast could have been a bit more. Maybe some cereal, yogurt and fresher croissants. Overall we had a wonderful stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the same quality that it used to be!"
I have stayed at this hotel 5 times in the last 25 years and don't need to go back. Apparently a deluxe room means a window that doesn't open and overlooks a roof. The door knob on the bathroom was loose and made a lot of noise because the air conditioner shook the entire wall. The TV was about 20 years old and although I don't go there to watch TV, […] it is nice to watch the news as I get ready to go out. The staff at the desk was ok, but everyone else was doing me a favor. Multiple times I walked down the hall and passed an employee that said excuse me. It was said with the tone of "move out of my way" not "sorry I'm in the way." The room service was not efficient. One day the room service attendant knocked and immediately opened the door without waiting for our reply. I won't go back to this hotel. There are other hotels that will be happy to have my money. "Great location, uncomfortable beds"
The good: Perfect location within walking distance to just about everything; reasonably spacious rooms for a boutique hotel; beautiful courtyard with a nice pool. The bad: The mattresses were obviously old and in need of replacement--they sagged and were uncomfortable to sleep on. While the courtyard is nice, they allow smoking there and someone was […] almost always taking advantage, making it a lot less enjoyable. The advertised breakfast is extremely spartan--just a few pastries and a bowl of apples and bananas. And while they have free wifi, the signal was too weak for it to work in our room, which made it pretty useless. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"convenient to the Cafe du Monde"
And what else matters in New Orleans, really? Honestly, everything in the French Quarter is pretty close, although this hotel is only two blocks from Café du Monde. The area is beautiful. I went with my ten-year-old son, and we got in town late. The hotel staff helped us locate an open restaurant nearby, and I wasn't at all nervous about having my son […] out. The courtyard is beautiful and the pool area is lovely. The pastries for breakfast were incredible. It's an incredible hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good hotel - Great location"
Overall this hotel more than met the needs of my family vacation. I reserved 2 rooms, while they were interior rooms (no windows), I did not find this to be a negative. Location is superb, amenities are very good, and the staff members were all helpful and happy. New Orleans and the French Quarter are a unique experience, and so getting comfortable […] with the city and its uniqueness may take first time visitors a little adjustment period, but once you are comfortable in the setting, the Place d'Armes turns out to be exactly the type of hotel you are trying to find in N.O. We will definitely be staying at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
