"over-night stay before cruise"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We really liked San Pedro Inn & Suites. It was perfect for our over-night stay before our cruise. The price that we paid for the room was a good value. The staff was friendly. We were suprised that such a good breakfast was included in the price of our room.

Clean and quiet. A nice place to stay.
"Impressed!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Have stayed at other hotels in the area and this was the nicest and least expensive. Up to date furnishing and t.v. Bathroom was nice, but hasn't fully been updated. Clean, good area, easy check in and out and included breakfast. (Ceral, muffins, bagels-butter no cream cheese, juices, coffee, teas and fresh fruit. About 10 minutes to Disneyland on city roads. Beds were comfortable and pillows were fluffy and nice. Will be staying here again.

Long Beach, with its immense port, is a hub for commerce and leisure on the Pacific. Freighter ships haul imported goods, pleasure cruises depart for Catalina Island, and the Queen Mary, the storied trans-Atlantic liner, is moored in the city’s bay. The Aquarium of the Pacific is nearby. At night, downtown’s Pine Avenue strip and Belmont Shore’s Second Street are prime entertainment spots.

"A fun experience"
The hotel was fun and nostalgic. Lots to do. The decor was original and fun to be surrounded in. The room was comfortable and spacious. Only downfall is that it was noisy in the room (depending) on your neighbors, but they provide free earplugs.

"Frumpy ART DECO only the English could design"
It was last minute plan, wonderful to stay on the old gal. Only wish I was told of the "new" & old rooms , before reserve the room.frumpy Why don't the rooms have a small fridge? I would have liked to keep food & drink. Overall very unique experience.
"not what i thought"
Even if it was indoor room though it would have some of a classic look, to me was very modern. King size bed was great.

"Very interesting but not the best hotel experience"
First, I ended up on the Queen Mary because I waited too long to book a hotel close to the convention center. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I had a large interior room with a nice king bed with good pillows, but that was about it. The other furniture was pretty beaten. My biggest complaint was the poorly outfitted bathroom. These negatives […] are somewhat mitigated by the interesting surroundings. Read more
"A step back in time and a beautiful skyline too."
Fun and affordable. Full of history in our cabin and through out the ship. And we didn't even get sea sick. The Long Beach shuttle system picks you up and takes you around the city and it's free. The dining was wounderful and at night the view of the Long Beach skyline is beautiful.
"Queen Mary - great stay!"
Loved the novelty of staying onboard this historic vessel. The promenade deck is lovely for sitting or strolling. Excellent night view of Long Beach and easy shuttle service ("Passport") into downtown.
"Horrible customer service"
The ship itself is a wonderful, historic marvel, but not a good hotel in which to stay. The staff is rude and unsatisfactory. Meals which I did not eat, much less charge to my room, were put on my bill. Normally such a mistake is easy to solve, but not with the individual working the front desk (on April 22nd, in morning) who was on a massive power […] trip. His actions were inexcusable! In addition, most hotels will inform you if parking is not included in the price of your stay. The Queen Mary did not feel that this was important information to impart on their guests. When this individual was questioned about this issue he stated that "all hotels charge for parking." Sorry, fella, they do not; those that do are professional enough to let we customers know in advance, and at check-out in the worst case scenario. We had a tremendous problem with noise on the ship. Yes...it is an old ship and we completely understood this, but when we complained about loud, screaming neighbors at ALL hours of the day, the staff did absolutely nothing about it. Thinking about booking your conference on the Queen Mary? Think again. Do your members a favor and book somewhere that will appreciate their business. Read more

"I Really Wanted To Like The Queen Mary..."
Our stay at the Queen Mary was one of the more "unbalanced" experiences that I can remember. In terms of being unique and completely different than any other hotel at which I've ever stayed, the Queen Mary totally fits the bill. Our room was excellent; it was large and the King bed very comfortable. We overheard several other guests talk about the […] paper-thin walls, for which I was already prepared. (Apparently the sound of the engines drowned out much of the ambient noise when the ship was in operation.) We had quiet neighbors or vacant rooms on either side, as it was a very quiet for us. The only knock I had was was the "V-shaped" bathtub bottom which was somewhat small and EXTREMELY difficult to stand in. I literally almost fell twice in the first 2-3 minutes of my shower and easily could have been badly injured. Unfortunately, the room was the best part of our stay. As other reviewers noted, service is lacking; in our case, it ranged from horrible to merely average. We chose the King suite since it was the only one large enough to accommodate a roll-away bed for our 6-y/o daughter. Unfortunately, we had to ask for it to be delivered 3 times. The first request was at 10am, the second was at 5pm and the third at midnight. It was frustrating when we got back to our room after a late dinner only to find the roll-away hadn't been delivered. When housekeeping didn't immediately deliver the bed, the night manager brought it up himself. The extra $15 charge was waived as a result of the inconvenience. Breakfast itself was excellent with a morning wait staff that was pretty solid. Dinner was the exact opposite. I literally have never stayed in a hotel that it SO HARD for a guest to eat in one of its own restaurants. There are multiple restaurants on the Queen Mary. One we could literally never find despite following all the signs; one was reserved for a wedding party (which no one mentioned to us during check-in); one didn't take anyone (including hotel guests) withou Read more

"Who would have thought..."
As I've begun to tell friends and family about our wonderful stay at the Queen Mary, I'm getting the "I didn't know they had rooms so you could spend the night". Everyone was so helpful and nice. We had an incredible meal at Sir Windsor's and we were treated to 5 star treatment. A staycation trip we'll never forget.
"My night on the queen"
Perfect stay before heading over on the ferry to catalina. Staff was helpful and the views were incredible. Food on the ship was a little pricey but there are many restaurants within 10 mins, including Roscoes Chicken and Waffles!!
"Great atmosphere, really unique hotel experience"
We've stayed at this hotel for 2 days, came to Long Beach for Formula Drift weekend with my girlfriend. Ship is gorgeous! We've been exploring it for hours! Hotel room was clean, nothing too fancy. Bathtub , TV.They even have a channel about history of QM.Really good price, plus you get to explore 1930s transatlantic ship.Well worth it, if you want […] something different from your regular hotel. The only downside they don't have free parking, so be ready to pay $15 a day for it. Overall great experience, highly recommended to escape from everyday routines. Read more
"Wonderfully historic"
The carpets and upholstery are kind of worn out and a lot of the former public spaces are off limits but worthwhile for the historic value. Pay attention to the room you book - they tried to switch me to a lesser room on check in.

"queen mary in long beach, CA"
was great. except took the crew 2-3 hours to turn the heater on.
"Really neat place to stay"
The Queen Mary gives us a chance to view the world as it was when cruising was a luxury...great museum hotel.
"A great stay"
this was one of the best hotel stays that I ever had.
"My Queen Mary Stay"
I was a wonderful historical experience. I went there for a romantic occasion and it was was wonderful!
"Queen Mary"
We stayed for three nights, the Hotels.com rating said, desk, fridge, microwave, none existed, there was a hair dryer. Room was old with furniture with chipped veneer, the front desk was rude, they charge $15/day to park...not mentioned when booking, or anywhere we could find. No towels left one day, and the next the pile of wet towels were left on […] the end table in the room, soaking through my magazines, no complimentary paper, and the $15 to park was in a lot that was a far walk from the hotel, and we didn't feel that safe in the neighborhood to leave our Mercedes parked so far away. Bathroom sink is very low to ground, causing my husband to kneel. We stayed in Cincinnati at the HIlton, that had a lovely 1930's flair for fashion, for less than this, the Queen Mary, isn't a queen! No royalty here, Read more
"Awesomeness"
My family and I stayed aboard the Queen Mary for 4 days. I easily could have stayed forever!! It was wonderful from beginning to end. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful and the room was spectacular. We had a deluxe king cabin with alot of the original decor and it was beautiful. My five year old daughter cried when we checked out. We will definitely […] be back!! Read more

"Queen Mary in Long Beach"
It was fun and a delight to stay on the Queen Mary. I felt all the fun of a cruise except cruising. The beautiful wood lined hallways and all of the wood throughout the ship was beautiful. The Queens ballroom is amazing. It was a joy to stay there, and a great location. The city lights at night are beautiful to look at.

"Great experience"
This is my third stay on the Queen, what other hotel has so much history , and is a living museum that helped with the war effort during WW2. What a great experience.
"Never again. Smells, ac didn't work, parking fee"
Paper thin walls, ac didn't work in room, parking 15.00 a night. Hotel needs some money put into it. Rust everywhere. Smells musty. We will never stay there again.
"Queen Mary - a MUST DO in So CAL"
Great experience all around. A must do if staying in the area and rates that beat most other hotels in the area. Staying in such a historic hotel was fabulous. The tours were nice but staying in the hotel allows you to explore and take your own tour at your pace. Staff was great (Chirstina was awesome!) I highly recommend the hotel.
"Stay for the experience"
We stayed here for the experience, and it is is literally right NEXT to the port terminal. This is an OLD ship, and not all has been refurbished yet. It was old, but hotel parts were clean, and set up like a museum. there are also ghost tours, if you have time. We didn't do the tour, but if we stay again...might try it. The rooms were clean floors weren't […] level, but it's old. The bed was SOOOOO comfy! Read more

"The Queen Mary in Long Beach - good for sleeping"
The Queen Mary has it's pros and cons. From the moment I checked in all the staff were friendly and helpful to me, telling me all they knew about the local nightlife when I asked, with the doorman even looking up the clubs and their numbers for me. Their hotel is quite picturesque and interesting to examine, what with all their varnished wood, and my […] room was quite clean and appealing. The bus that takes you to and from downtown being free is also a perk. I chose The Queen Mary because it was the cheapest place listed that wasn't in a bad neighborhood. But the place can be deceptive about how much money you'll spend. What with a tiny parfait being $6 and shelling out for their wi-fi (several dollars for only an hour). Also, be aware if you are staying atman inside room without windows. It can be quite jarring to wake up in the pitch dark. I didn't go to any of the ship's bars or lounges, so I can't speak to how those are. Overall, not a well-rounded place, but cheap enough if you're just looking to sleep there and then go out on the town. Read more
"Queen Mary - close to where we needed to be"
A good experience, next time I would request a room with a window though. It was kinda dark in the room. My husband was in Long Beach for a seminar and I stayed on the ship. 2nd morning there was no hot water for a few hours so he had to take a cold shower before he left for the day, but it did get fixed. Also 2nd morning there was a fire alarm and […] we did have to evacuate for a while which was a bit scary, but turned out to be false alarm which was good. We were inconvienced with the fire alarm, but thankful it was false alarm. Read more
"Queen Mary is a great hotel"
This beautiful, historic hotel is a ship floating, docked in Long Beach Harbor. The king room we booked was very large which we totally did not expect on a ship. Our main complaint is that we didn't have any hot water. It was lukewarm at best and not hot enough for a shower. We were pleasantly surprised that hotel guests get an excellent discount on […] the tours. This might make up a bit for the overpriced restaurants and lounges. There are some tours that offer a bunch of hocus pocus theatrics, which is very unfortunate. It makes it difficult to know if you are hearing real paranormal noises on the ship or some silly recording. It is also very disrespectful to those who died on the Queen Mary. If you stay, please take the tours that don't include such ridiculousness. Read more

"Fun on the Water without seasickness"
You will not get seasick because the ship is not moving but you still feel that you are on a cruise. I loved the ambiance of the hotel. I do think that the "deluxe" room was important due to having portholes for viewing. I would recommend the harbor side instead of the parking lot. The walls are "thin" but there was not excessive noise. It is minutes […] to Long Beach and the adjacent park is great for running. Read more

"Queen Mary Hotel"
The rooms were very nice and inexpensive. The sights were interesting. The restaurants were a bit pricey but the food was good.
"Cozy"
Cozy room. Nice staff.
"Queen Mary"
Liked the historic significance, but would have appreciated some expected conveniences, such as free internet access and a coffee pot in the room....I mean really this is pretty standard in hotels now!
