A champagne buffet brunch is served Sundays in the Grand Salon, which was once the ship's first-class dining room. Food stations serve salads, omelets, seafood, beef, and desserts; dress is business-casual.

Sir Winston's - Continental and California cuisine are served in semi-formal dining room with panoramic coastal views. Dinner daily. Menu highlights include rack of lamb, roast duck, prime rib carved tableside, and Maine lobster. Extensive wine list.

Chelsea Chowder House & Bar - seafood restaurant with a classic New England chowder house atmosphere. Restaurant serves only sustainable seafood from around the world. Menu features a variety of appetizers including oysters on the half shell or fried calamari. Main course choices include seafood kettles and a brewed food menu featuring Guinness braised beef short ribs, bass ale-battered black cod fillet, and more. Every table has ocean and city views.

Observation Bar - Cocktails, cheese and crackers, coastal views and occasional live entertainment are offered in the former first-class lounge. Open daily until late evening.

The Promenade Café - This casual restaurant serves salads, sandwiches, pastas, and Angus beef. Harbor views. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Room service is available from early morning until late evening.

Things to do

The hotel offers daily guided tours of the Queen Mary ship. Tours cover the ship's World War II service, art deco design, and paranormal sightings.

Recreation

The modest fitness room on the main deck is equipped with treadmills, stationary bikes, weight machines, and a large bathroom with a shower and towels. The spa offers massages, facials, reflexology, and chiropractic body work by appointment (surcharge; closed Mondays). (The ship's two swimming pools are no longer in use.)

A few yards from the ship's entrance, the Queen Mary Events Park offers paved paths around a large grassy area. To enjoy these paths and nearby areas, bicycle rentals are available on-site. The hotel offers a 3-speed cruiser bike, a tandem bike, a single Surrey (3 adults and 2 small children) or a double Surrey (6 adults and 2 small children).

Activities offered within a mile of the hotel include boating, fishing, whale watching, jogging, tennis, and swimming. Nearby public golf courses are Recreation Park Golf Club (6 miles), Bixby Village Golf Course (7 miles), Skylinks Golf (10 miles), and El Dorado Golf and Nature Center (13 miles). The Pike at Rainbow Harbor, easily accessible by water taxi, offers bowling, video games, a turn-of-the-century carousel, and movie theaters.

If you appreciate style, you'll love the Queen Mary. It's isolated (but a quick cab trip into town), which is one of the things I love about it. There's no expectation to go anywhere if you don't want to. The rooms are to small for the price. If you can actually get the room you reserve. The water pressure in the showers is a drizzel and offer little more than elbow room. If you want to stay on a ship go for a Cruz. You will get more for your money. Visit for dinner or tour only. Stay at the Mia and you won't be disappointed.

Staff was extremely friendly the room was pretty clean but there was some maintenance that to be done on the room itself. I did feel a little nostalgic though because so much of the items in the room were historic pieces. I would definitely go back a second time. It was worth it overall.

We were going on a 4 day cruise to Ensanada, and someone recommended we stay here the night before. I'm so glad they did. Not only was the hotel in the same parking lot as the port, but you check in AT the hotel as well. We had an amazing breakfast and our morning was worry free. This is the place to stay before your Carnival cruise to Ensanada!

Loved the vintage Queen Mary cruise ship. Perfect hotel to get you into the cruising mode. Walking distance to the Long Beach Pier. Enjoyed the World War II tour since my father in law actually transported on the QM during the war. Lots of history. Would love to stay there again.

I have never taken a cruise, but after my stay on the Queen Mary, I can definitely see the appeal. However, most cruise ships will certainly be a let-down, unless they all sport classic, timeless decor and exotic wood detailing throughout. The ship is still beautiful, even if the years have taken a bit of a toll. Much like a working cruise ship, there […] is something to do day and night, and the food is amazing, in all the restaurants. (Really, we tried them all--the most spectacular being the Sunday Champagne Brunch, highly recommended.) We did have a hard time getting housekeeping to come to our room after the first day with a "do not disturb" sign on the door. And the nighttime ghost-geeks tour was a colossal waste of money and time. I would recommend everyone spend at least a night aboard the Queen. The beauty and the history are cultural treasures. However the complaints about it being noisy is valid. Spent 2 days and hardly slept 4 hours. Some areas are badly in need of carpet cleaning and in some replacement. Food was excellent. Loved it. Bathroom a little old but didnt mind. Bed was comfy and clean. Stayed in the deluxe room which is the bigger one w a widow. Rooms run small but over all good place I would stay there again.

Everything about the Queen Mary us lovely, including the desk clerk who was trying valiantly to satisfy guests with upgrades because king beds weren't available. Unfortunately, upgrades have twin beds. My 6'3" husband was a trooper as he slept in the tiny bed with his feet hanging off.

Very nice historic landmark but the accomodations are closer to 2 stars. We booked a king size but got 2 twin beds. My husband and I were not happy since this was supposed to be a romantic getaway. They compensated with free breakfast to try and make it up.

I reserved a King and when I checked in I was given a room with two Queen size beds. The hotel said that they had over booked and this was the only room left! I did like the Queen Mary experience, just not the bed(s).

This stay was a surprise for my Mom and Dad who had always wanted to stay on this ship. They enjoyed everything the Queen Mary had to offer. We especially enjoyed the Tea room and the wonderful service we received. The only thing they were disappointed in was their overpriced, uneventful breakfast.

The hotel has so much history it really is something to see. The bed was so comfortable, but the walls are really paper thin. We had read this on the reviews and it is very true. Our neighbors decided to leave at 3:30 am, not their fault but heard everything. Glad we stayed but will probably not do it again.

The food in the bar was good, the room clean but hard to find and no one in sight to ask. I would not recommend the inside rooms the layout is very strange. If you have plans on the main shore side you will have to drive . So plan ahead. Front desk was sure we wanted to upgrade for an additional $30. Internet extra fee

Our room was nice and we enjoyed the upgrade option that we were offered at the time of check-in. The staff was so helpful and shared how to use the free transit to get to the other side of the harbor. What a beautiful step back in time and we can't wait to book another stay!

My stay at the Queen Mary was great! It was a Sunday night which probably helped. We arrived late at night and there were very few other guests walking around so we had the chance to explore almost the entire ship without running into crowds. I believe we only saw a total of 4 other guests. The only negative was that the walls are paper-thin and the […] guests across from us, who arrived at almost 2 am were extremely loud, yelling and making a lot of noise for a long time! Security was actually called on them and things improved after that. Just keep in mind that there are other guests staying there, and you're on a ship, not a brick building. Also, the comfort level may not be the same as a 5 star hotel, but if you choose to stay at the Queen Mary, you are doing it for the experience and historical value, not the comfort. It is a 1930s ship, afterall. Overall, the staff was friendly, the facilities were clean, comfortable and well maintained. Definitely recommend it but maybe pick a Sunday or weekday if you expect to sleep. Read more
