"Horrible first night"
We booked in Nov & traveled in Feb. Our reservation was for 5 nights. When we arrived to the resort on day 1, we were told there was a "small problem," & that the hotel was "overbooked." At this time, it was requested that we stay at another hotel for our first night. We had traveled for 9 hrs, waited in customs for an hour, we were tired & hungry, […] & when we thought we had arrived at our destination, we were pushed away to a sub-par hotel 40 min away. Not only was this hotel 40 min away, but we had to wait another hr for transportation. Once we finally arrived at this hotel, we were told that we had to wait another hour for dinner & that they did not provide snacks. The room itself was visually appealing, but the shower did not drain or function properly, there were stains on the sheets, & the dinner buffet was bland with very limited selection. Mind you, this was our first impression of Oasis' hospitality. The next morning we were transported back to the original resort, but could not check in until 3pm. The resort itself was nice, but it was very difficult to make reservations at any of the restaurants , which you needed for 4 out of the 6. We were also persuaded into sitting through a sales presentation for a time-share, which ended up being a 90 min high pressured sales meeting that requested a $5000 deposit for a $24000 loan. i read as many reviews as possible and decided the Sens was best for my boyfriends birthday/our first trip together/first time to cancun experience. however, our trip was a mess from the beginning. our scheduled 9am flight, that i paid extra for non-stop to maximize our time for our short trip, was over booked. we got bumped to a 2pm with a layover […] in houston. we arrived at 10pm and went to our hotel to find out it too was over booked. however, we did get to keep our all inclusive benefits for both hotels. the Bel Air where we slept was nice but not the 5 star we paid for. we had one breakfast buffet and one dinner there. not recommended. the staff there was VERY nice. we used as much of the Sens as possible. the food was great, esp the italian and mex restaurants. the over booking happened to the majority of people we met and heard many other horror stories about that situation. luckily we are obviously extremely easy going people and we made the best of it and had a good time. i know others would not be so accepting. Facility very nice, staff goes above and beyond to please guests. Carlos the bartender was the best, we will never forget him! Guadeloupe at the Mexican restaurant was awesome! Housekeeping does a good job, however if you leave a tip in the room they will forget things like toilet tissue so you have to come find them and tip again. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was a little frightened. The resort lived up to almost all expectations. First the good...The staff was amazing. From the bell hop and concierge, to the bartenders and waitstaff. Almost all were incredibly friendly and went all out to please us. The restaurants were very good and the buffet was as good as a buffet should be. The hours of the restaurants were right on target. I wish there were more options for lunch but we never went hungry. Next the bad...We arrived early with the hope of getting into our room prior to the 1500 check in. Our room was not done until 1630 and upon arrival into it, we noted a distinct paint smell. It seems they constantly paint to keep up with the extreme humidity. This humidity in the rooms is caused by inadequate air conditioning. The room was never hot but not exactly cool. We did find one staff member that was very rude to us. The restaurants that require reservations fill up early so we missed out on several due to not reserving early enough. "I do not recommend you to stay there"
This hotel has terrible service. My husband and I arrived around 7pm and to do the check in it took more than an hour. The guy in the frontdesk told us to give him 10 mins to make sure the room was ready. He advised us to go make reservations for the restaurant. The guy at the reservation had no idea what he was doing he also kept getting interrupted […] by the phone so we were getting frustruated. When we finally get to the room the room was DIRTY it smelled really bad, the pillows were the dirty, AC wasn't working, their was a leaking in the bathroom. We called room service and they just sprayed something for the odor. We also told them we were there for our honeymood the front desk supervisor gave us the run around she asked for a certificate of marriage my mother was able to send us a copy via e-mail we then showed it to her the front desk supervisor she advised us to see a different person so we can get VIP access and some other stuff we can get in the room. We NEVER got anything in the room nor did we get the VIP access we didnt even bother on asking her anymore because she was just so rude plus I didnt want to deal with any of them anymore I was tired of their attitudes. This resort is just ok. The staff is friendly & helpful with recommending activities and things to do while visiting so for that I give them a thumbs up. Check in takes entirely too lon. "Worst Hotel experience of my life"
This place was bad from the minute we checked in. Couldn't get a dinner reservation at any of the hotel restaurants. Lunch at two of the restaurants was absolutely awful and Inedible. No guacamole at 1:00 pm at a Mexican restaurant because they were "out". No bottled water in the room even asking twice and told una momento. No clean towels for the pool, […] even after asking for them. You can't take food from any of the fast food shacks on the property to your beach or pool chairs and are forced to eat inside the fences of the restaurant. This hotel is in poor condition and is a throw back to a 70's anything goes type of resort with its 'mood lighting' in the elevators and the rooms. The air conditioner sounded like a farm tractor and was horribly annoying. We could not get out of this place quick enough. During the checkout process we were told to order the cab from the front desk and that we would need pesos. The front desk told me they had no pesos. Seriously?. Then the bellhop tried to charge us 3times the cost for a taxi to the airport. Thankfully a local honest taxi driver stood up for us and grabbed our luggage and threw it in the car. He told me in the cab that they try to get more money from you at the hotel and it's wrong. I will never recommend this hotel to anybody. It should be closed down and renovated. Alright so traveled to this hotel very nervous due to the large gap between the many negative and many positive reviews. This said I've traveled to every continent in the world and stayed in 5 star hotels as well as roach-coach motels. This is neither. Quick complain and change of attitude and Jonathan at the VIP lounge found us a room in the six floor which was just amazing. VIP or not the check in process is quite long, specially during their high season, that said there is a Bar 5 feet away and food close by to keep you going. The hotel does have water problems (everywhere), that said not bad. Some reviewers complained that you couldn't swim in the pools of the suites (dugh! of course you can't) but they are nice to have in the afternoon and kept clean (if you want to swim there are plenty off pools to do so at, and that big blue thing out the window called the ocean!. After traveling internationally 5-6 times per year for over 20 years and staying at 2-5 star hotels, I can honestly say that Oasis Sens was the worst I have ever experienced by far. I am one who rarely complains, but I found myself complaining to the staff everyday multiple times. Mostly because I had to call or go to the front desk 3-4 times and wait […] 2 1/2 hours before a problem as simple as a deck chair cushion could be given to me. Then the guy stood there waiting for a tip!! Air conditioning controls are for show only. The hotel sets it, and it is at luke warm. Complained about my room and was downgraded to a basement room that had a sewer gas smell wafting through the deck area. Light bulbs missing, rusted or cracking plastic toilet fixtures that seem to be from the 1970's. VIP service that was nothing more than paying more to check in at a lounge that took 40 minutes longer than the front desk. Never any solutions to simple problems, just pathetic apologies with nothing getting done until I requested to speak with the hotel manager. Hint - Ask to talk to the hotel manager with your first complaint, otherwise, you will have to contact the front desk over and over. My room did not get cleaned until 5:30 at night after complaining three times. "Save yourself disappointment...stay somewhere else"
The hotel seemed really nice upon arrival. The lobby is beautiful. Unfortunatly it was raining during our stay and the entire hotel was leaking REALLY bad!! It smelled really musty and moldy. Our room was leaking so horrible and actually started flooding. We had to move our luggage up off of the floor. It took over two hours and 3 phone calls to the […] front desk to get someone up to our room to clean up the leaking water. The room continued to smell. The toilet leaked all over the bathroom and again we could not get someone to come fix it. I was freezing in the room so I called to ask for an extra blanket and it never came. Again, I called the next day about the blanket and finally got one but when it came it was the most scratchy and uncomfortable blanket ever! The food was at Coba the buffet was disgusting. "An enjoyable and friendly LGBT hotel without kids!"
I enjoyed my stay, but the hotel could improve its VIP guest checkin procedure. Edwin did a good of welcoming us, but we didn't get VIP room bar service and other restaurant inclusions until 2-3 days into our stay. Our room was cleaned between 5-6 PM. Really enjoyed the free lobby entertainment during cocktail hour, as well as the Kinky Nightclub. The […] pools and beach are fantastic. The entire hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming. Plenty restaurants and bars for the all inclusive. Great Service. I loved the fact that it was Adults only. Amazing view and plenty of stuff going on in the hotel for entertainment, besides the wanderfull beach and pool. Only inconvenient was the check in was at 03:00 Pm which I did not expect and they keep calling you for a sales presentation till […] you get tired and go.
