"2 star hotel charging 4 star premium price"
Paid top dollar to take girlfriend for a night while in portland. Lobby is only nice part of hotel. Location was o.k . Rooms are so micro sized, which is nice if you like to hold hands while one of you is in washroom and the other its lying in bed. Bathtub flooring shell was seperating from the tub and tub barley drained. The room decor including the […] tacky 70s orange drapes and beat up chipped wooden dresser(which I wouldnt accept if it was free) left me puzzled as to why this hotel has such a good reputation. Do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great downtown location"
We were looking for a comfortable hotel, centrally located to explore downtown Portland. We were very impressed by the restaurant. We had Happy Hour snacks, dinner, and breakfast and were very pleased with each experience. The food was excellent and the wait staff was well trained and very accommodating.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Portland Hotel"
Very helpful and friendly staff. Only critique is that the rooms are relatively small, still comfortable however. Great outdoor eating and bar areaGenuine Expedia guest review
"Generally Pleasant Hotel"
Nice boutique hotel. Couple of unsettling points: They serviced our room very late in the day around 5 pm during all the nights of our stay. Also, the walls separating rooms is very thin. Clearly heard the neighbor's television past 2 AM.Genuine Expedia guest review
Has the advantage of being in the middle of the best city in America. Clean, modern, tasteful. Really good restaurant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"VERY NICE... tiny rooms that cost lots."
The place is very clean, looks modern and nice, is located right on the MAX line to downtown or an easy walk as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has great food. My only complaint If two people are in the room one has to sit on the bed if the other wants to move around the room. Very expensive for a very small room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice lobby, nice staff, bedroom ok for the price, and every morning we could hear the car from the steet, when you re on vacation it not fun ...i ll never got backGenuine Expedia guest review
It was a nice, clean room and bathroom. We were gone on vacation and stayed in 11 different hotels and this room was by far the smallest room and by far the most expensive room we stayed in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I felt like this hotel was subpar for being so expensive. We had our dog and you can tell they give the same rooms to people who have pets. I understand keeping those rooms for people with pets but jut because I have one doesn't meen I want to see the mess from the previous pet. The furniture was chewed and warn. Had I knowned the condition was going […] to be that bad, I would have stayed somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel Modera was perfect. The rooms were good. The restaraunt had very good breakfast. And the valet service desk was very helpful with storing our luggage and bikes. Overall the hotel meet our needs and at times exceeded our expectations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is in a good location downtown. It's clean and hip and for the most part the staff is friendly. Didn't like that parking was $30/night but that was not mentioned on the website. There is a lot across the street for $4/day on weekends. We parked there. The room we had was nice, but very small. But if you want to stay in a "cool/hip" hotel that […] is slightly pretentious, this is the place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Modern vibe in Portland city center"
Overall stay was great. Room was plenty big for 4 people, amenities were top quality, bed was comfortable, view of nearby office buildings, outdoor seating and fire pits were great to sit and relax after a long day of walking around the city. Restaurant was very good and had a creative menu. Perfect location for business traveler and week night happy […] hour. Neighborhood pretty quiet during the weekend and a lot of the "tourist" attractions are a decent walk from hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
If a hotel is priced based on the lobby and decor then this is the one. You pay a premium for the lipstick.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Happy to be back at Hotel Modera"
The room is well-designed. The staff is friendly and well-informed. They are helpful also. This was our second stay and we would do it again next time events bring us to Portland. Hotel's restaurant is excellent too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect place to stay and see Portland"
We enjoyed our stay. Clean updated not too big great outside lounge area close to everything. Quiet or party, you decide. The staff gives you just as much or as little attention as you wish. Stay here you will not be sorry.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"quick trip to downtown portland"
when booking this hotel I was expecting more than we got. this hotel is part of the kimpton group which traditionally has great 4 star properties. this hotel is just a ok, clean with great staff. why the low rating? rooms are as small as a room in new York's time square. the only furniture in the room was a standard wood desk chair. electrical outlets […] are at a premium, they did not even have enough outlets to plug in the desk lamp, but it did look good. the bathroom was basic. the shower was a tub/shower combo with low water pressure and a narrow beam. this hotel is ok, and a ok hotel. valet parking was $30 per night. A bit pricey for a quick night's stay, but a nice, clean room. The room temperature was a bit wonky though (heat came on mid eve in summer- which I was informed would happen- but still).... Not sure if this was the hotel's fault or not- but it took almost 40 minutes for a cab at 5am- with a pricey $40 flate rate ride as well (tip not included)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pleasant staff, decent location, okay rooms"
The staff are pleasant enough (although the person who checked us in was a little curt and seemed bored with life), and the valet crew were particularly good. Unfortunately, we found our room subpar. It smelled lightly of cigarette smoke (weird in a non-smoking hotel) and the floors felt damp and sort of sticky! Yuck. We have stayed at The Nines during […] our other visits to Portland and find its location and rooms superior. We will not be returning to Hotel Modera, despite the good staff. "service is key..they do it right!"
A moment at check it when they made me sign a non smoking policy and then the room we got smelled as if someone smoked in it...They IMMEDIATELY remedied it ..got another room that was good..no questions asked. AWESOME service throughout! Who says service is a thing of the past! Stay here!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern, clean, excellent staff."
Staff couldn't have been nicer. Bartender Peter, invented a drink for that exceeded all expectations.Genuine Expedia guest review
The location of this hotel is about perfect, right in downtown Portland. Decor of the property is very upscale and the restaurant is great. There is no fitness center at the hotel but they do give you a pass to 24hr fitness which is right around the corner so probably superior to a small hotel fitness room. My only real complaint was the rooms are small […] and the bed was really hard. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location and Clean."
The stay was great, their valets were professional. We loved the easy access to Max and Trolley. Our only issue was that it was a really hot couple of days and they told us we needed to turn off the A/C before going to bed as it would start pumping out hot air in the night when exterior temperatures dropped. It wasn't the coolest A/C either, so our […] room was a bit warmer that we would have preferred, and it took a while in the morning with the A/C to push cold air again. We were satisfied with our stay at this hotel and it's walking distance to shops and restaurants, however, the hotel parking was very expensive that's why I gave it a 4.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Four days over the 4th of July"
My wife and I used The Modera as our home base for our first trip to Portland. We were quite pleased with the service, the staff and the accommodations. Our list of places to eat in Portland was so long that we didn't try the food at the hotel until the night before we left, but the items we had from the late afternoon menu were excellent, as was the […] ambiance on the patio. "Ultra urban downtown p-town experience."
We were doing an elaborate country drive which brought us from the high desert of central Oregon into the canyons of the Deschutes and White rivers with the stopping point being an intimate evening at the Schnitzer Auditorium. It only seemed right to pick a location that put us in walking distance from the theater, and the Modera was a "shot in the […] dark". Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Place to Stay"
The Modera was a perfect place to stay. Great location for our needs, friendly and accommodating staff, and terrific rooms. It wasn't another "cookie cutter" hotel but had a great modern character and feel. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a little more unique. Couple that with the great service we received from staff at valet, […] check-in/check-out and the restaurant and it makes the Modera a fantastic hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Enjoy the stay, but the hotel can make mistake"
I stayed two nights at Modera. There is one airport shuttle sending and picking passengers up at the hotel. The staffs are very friendly. Only one problem. I did not allow any room service during my stay, so nobody was supposed to enter my room. In addition, I did not take any charged food provided by the hotel. When I checked out, the staff told me […] that chips in my room were found consumed. But this is impossible, because first nobody else was supposed to enter my room; second, I did not. The staff told me they would take care of that in the end. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a very nice hotel. The staff was excellent and the room quite comfortable. The only thing I had a problem with was figuring out the A/C. I should have called the desk but did not. It costs $30 to park--quite high. I parked there the first night because it was very late, but then I got spots right across the street for the subsequent nights. […] I had to go out to the meter, but it was worth the savings. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice service"
The people are all very helpful and accommodating. The room is on the small side but not bad. The updates to the older building have been well executed and the hotel has some style and flair. I will stay here again. No complaints at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
friendly staff, room service lacking but good foodGenuine Expedia guest review
Best Hotel stay I have had in Portland. It's friendly, clean, modern, and located near PSU. This is my go to hotel for Portland from now on. Shout out to Nel Centro Restaurant too that is located at the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Met all of our needs and then some"
This was a quick 1 nite stay but we were pleasantly surprised. The room was on the small side but perfectly adequate. The air conditioning system was pretty noisy. Had a surprisingly good and reasonably priced dinner at the attached restaurant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fresh coat of paint on a not amazing hotel"
Don't get me wrong this hotel was okay but I feel like the fact that they are going for this hip modern look gave them the excuse to overcharge. The room itself had ac that didn't work (on a 90 degree Phoenix day) and the bathtub was sticking out at some spots. The sliding doorGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Modera was great! Very good location, very upscale looking and feeling hotel with a great lobby and outdoor area. The room itself was very comfortable and was in excellent condition. I would recommend this hotel to friends, and would definitely stay here when I visit Portland next time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly staff and comfortable ambiance"
Knowledgeable front desk staff offered excellent suggestions for food and transportation. Convenient location near street car or a short walk to MAX.Genuine Expedia guest review
Just in Portland for the night with my family. The hotel was certainly modern. The staff young and friendly. Unfortunately the air conditioning was not great. The rooms were small and stuffy. Most disappointing was the lack of power outlets. My family of 4 needed to charge cellphones, ipads and computers and the best we could do was unplug the lamps […] by the bed (not great if you needed light) so we could charge our phones on a power strip. Okay hotel...The entry way is pretty neat but not a whole lot else to get excited about. I hated the heavy sliding door to the bathroom and lack of bathroom fan in our room. For spending nearly 200 bucks on a small one bed room, it would have been nice to have access to some sort of recreational area within the hotel or even complimentary breakfast...Also, […] exclusively valet parking is kind of bogus given the cost of the room. Luckily it we arrived on the eve of a holiday so street parking was free. Overall, the hotel was striving to seem modern and hip but comes off sort of cheap. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"for the price can't complain"
The hotel is a great place for adults... It's very modern, the hotel service was great. I traveled with children and I wished there was an indoor pool! Other than that, location was within walking distance to everything!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"On the downhill?"
We have stayed in this hotel a number of times, and it seems to be getting a bit less "well-kept". We requested a paper each morning, during our 3-day weekend stay, and never got one. Also, the toilet paper holder came off during use, and couldn't be reattached. Tile grout in bathroom is pretty dirty, and needs some deep cleaning, or replacement. Otherwise, […] this is a pretty nice hotel. Staff is very friendly/helpful, and the valet service is top-notch, although pretty pricey at $30/night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
