Got 'four nights for three' deal which made it excellent value. Hotel's well situated, staff very friendly and helpful. Couldn't get TV to work but wasn't a problem, I'm sure they'd have fixed it if we'd asked. Never really wanted it. Breakfast wasn't included and was expensive so we just used a little cafe round the corner. I'd recommend this hotel.

The hotel was good value for money. There are a few things that you compromise though. First, there are rooms that face the S-bahn and are very noisy (on all floors). Avoid these rooms if you can. Also, they will try to sell you a breakfast "deal" for 9 Euros a day (as opposed to the usual 17). Both of those are ripoffs since you can walk down the street and get a good meal for 6 or 7 euros maximum. Also, they charge 5 euros daily for an internet password that only works in the lobby and does not work at all if you have a mac laptop. There is a starbucks round the corner that gives you a free hour of internet with a purchase though. Having said all of this, it is a great location and the rooms are generally clean.

Great place to stay. Convenient location near the subway, with plenty of stores (including a Starbucks) nearby. Wifi in lobby is nice, although the bar/restaurante is non-existant. Room was convenient, and had everything you'd want. Service was great (and the receptionists were beautiful). Cons: Small TV, only one English channel, no AC, no wifi in rooms.

This hotel may have a convenient location, but was a total nightmare. The first room was excessively noisy and even though we moved in the middle of the night ( 3am) it got even worse at the back courtyard due to the noise of a heavy generator. The rooms were filthy with cigarette burns on the carpet and it felt like a hostel. The staff were uncooperative and we left feeling like we had slept on the street all night. A refund for the night was refused, even though we only had about an hours sleep. The staff played cat and mouse constantly over the conditions of the stay.

The hotel is advertised as a trendy hotel well its far from that.. The hotel also smelled too, not fresh. Got to the room and then about turned and checked straight back out. The rooms are very dated and the twin beds were not even together, they were in an l shape - I would maybe think of another hotel if I were you.

We had stayed in this hotel before so were very happy to go back again because staff are very helpful and location is brilliant for shopping. On this trip we were not happy with room initially assigned to us because it was twin room and more suitable for single people. When we requested another room the receptionist was extremely pleasant and moved us to a double room immediately which we greatly appreciated. Proximity to underground and bus service could not be better so would definitely recommend Hotel Am Zoo

We were very disappointed with our stay there. THe only good things about the hotel are the location (in nice, central shopping area and very close to metrto station) and the lobby. The rest of the hotel is terrible. The staff is not helpful and not customer service oriented. The plumbing has major issues so if you take a shower any time other than the middle of the night you get very little water pressure and the temperature randomly alternates between scalding and freezing (even with no other bathroom fisture being used at the same time). The carpet in the hallways and rooms is old, worn, and stained. The hallways are very ugly with pink lighting and very old and ugly dec or. The rooms are spacious but looked like they have not been remodeled in at least 40 years with tiny TV.s, ugly furnishings, garish colors, and stained and worn upholstery. This is very surprising and quite unacceptable in a four star hotel. The hotel did respond to our coplaints about the room and plumbing by offering us another room (which we took even though it was a smoking room and we don't smoke). The furnishings in the other room was somewhat better but the plumbinf issues were the same. The hotel also offerred us a bottle of champagne which is nice but does not make up for no decent shower in 4 days.

The hotel is situated near zoo, and is ideal to use as a base to see Berlin. The staff is pleasant and helpful. Rooms are big and have large windows, the interior is somewhat old, but the rooms are clean. The minibar in our room had a gas leak, this was unpleasant, but the staff handeled this well andt gave us a new room within a few minutes. For couples traveling we would recomend to book a twin bed room, because in the single bed rooms, the beds are far apart and you can not move them.
