great location, but room was tiny and no A/C

excellent location to the airport, service was excellent. Great to have a real "walk in" shower!
"Lovely staff, great location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The room was very small and a bit tight for friends. It would be nice for a couple. But the room had a cozy private terrace. And the staff was wonderful! The two desk personnel we encountered were helpful, went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed for a great visit and made a point of having what we needed before we knew we needed it. The hotel was clean, the food just right and always a fresh cup of coffee waiting for us. I would return without thinking twice.
"Amsterdamm layover"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
All the major museums are practically next door. We had a 24 hr layover at Schiphol, so we decided to take advantage. For 4 euros each you can take a bus to the museum station which is only a short walk to the hotel. Great shopping and dining is close by. Trams and canal boats are also convenient. The room is small, but efficiently layed out. Very comfortable bedding and air conditioning.
"Awesome Location!!!!!! Very convenient!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
Great location. Nightlife right outside your door, not noisy though, got great sleep!! Tram 9 stops right near to the hotel (took train from airport to main train station and right outside train station are the trams). Extremely helpful and nice staff and owner.

The bustling heart of Amsterdam, this district attracts hordes of visitors teeming from Centraal Station to Dam Square and its beautiful Nieuwe Kerk (14th-century). The oldest part of town, Oude Zijde, is famous for its Red Light District, but the University and the docks bring a different kind of colour and buzz to the narrow streets. Don’t miss the Oude Kerk, the Amstelkring Museum or the paintings in the Amsterdams Historisch Museum.

"Bare bones, but good location."
Clean and good location. You get a room, a bed and not really anything else. The bathroom has a frosted glass partition between the bedroom and the bathroom, which can be awkward if you are traveling with someone who is not a significant other. Also, "two beds" may be pushed together, despite pictures. Hotel charged an additional "tourist tax" that […] was not included in the full rate. Read more
"Nice Hotel, but double room not really a double"
was planning an overnighter with a buddy of mine. The hotel seemed nice and reasonably priced. The single beds were side by side on a platform built for a double. So you're sleeping side by side by just on two different tiny mattresses. Not that big of a deal but I felt a bit conned
"Best Place in Amsterdam"
This was an AMAZING hotel! If it weren't for a missed flight and last minute specials we would't have been able to have stayed here, but we enjoyed our night in Amsterdam and our lovely stay at this amazing hotel! If there's an offer - DO IT!
"The Westcord City Centre Hotel in Amsterdam"
We loved the location and we were able to walk everywhere. Parking is a little bit hard but that is true of any great city including Amsterdam. The receptionist was very helpful with recommendations for sight seeings and restaurants. We would stay there again.
"Highly recommended"
Westcord City Centre Hotel Amsterdam really covered all our expectations, excellent location, clean, good service.

affordable close to center of the city it was great

This the tiniest hotel room we have ever stayed in; however, it is absolutely sufficient for two people (a couple). The shape was odd, but interesting, and they did an excellent job organizing it in a way that made it work. It was updated and very modern and extremely clean. The location was perfect, walking distance from the main sights.
"Really close to everything."
We were really pleased with our stay here over the 4th of July weekend 2011. The location is absolutely perfect as it is minutes walk from the heart of Amsterdam & the Red Light District. Furthermore, there is a tram stop just out the door that takes you directly to all the Museums (no connections) and Leindesplein [sp], another cool square. They were […] kind enough to store our luggage as we arrived early so we were able to explore the city before check-in. Almost forgot, it's a 13 minute walk to the Central station, which takes you directly to Schiphol (AMS) airport. For less than 4 euros per person, you can get to and from the airport. The train stop for the airport is in the airport itself. It's really convenient. I will be back. Read more
"Beware unsecured free wireless service"
Nice hotel, good location, good rooms. A little too much modern glass walls for bathroom and table. Most important, beware of hackers with access to free wireless service which is unsecured.

"A Wonderful Hotel"
This hotel was wonderful. The rooms are clean and modern. The people were very acommodating and helpful in every aspect. We just loved staying there and will definitely seek this hotel out again and recommend it highly to everyone.

"Tired hotel"
This hotel is weary and could use a renovation. The location was good but the room needs to be updated with the curtains and carpet replaced. The staff doesn't seem to care about the way it appears which is evident in the lack of cleanliness in the lobby and at the entranceway. There is only one computer available for use and it was not always conn […] ected. Read more
"Brothel view, carpet on wall and unusually small"
Not a 3 star hotel for several reasons. 1. I have stayed in many European hotels and this 'Deluxe Double' was small by European standards. 2. The carpet was not only outdated but extended up one wall. I am sure Í have never stayed in a hotel that considered carpeting- it was both tasteless and unappealing. 3. The street view out our window showcased […] a brothel ~ red lights, open windows with women advertising themselves and men going in and out during the night. I would not stay in this hotel again, nor would I recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Amsterdam. Read more

"Central location: good bargain"
Stayed here overnight on Oct 28th. Rooms are small but clean and good value for the area. Walking distance to central train station and transportation connections.

"Westcord City Centre Hotel Amsterdam"
Excellent location, less then 400m from the main station and on a main road but extremely quiet. Approx 3 mins walk to Dam Square / Damrak / Red light district and pretty much all the central tourist attractions. Very modern and stylish hotel with rooms to match, only drawback was the size of the room and lack of privacy. We booked a twin room which […] was 2 single mattresses on a king size frame which could not be separated. The bathroom was a piece of part glazed glass between the 'bedroom' and the very lush toilet/shower/sink etc, just a little close when 'using the facilities' if you know what I mean. Having said that it wasn't a big deal as we weren't there to spend time in the room and its only somewhere to sleep. The beds were very comfortable when we did eventually crash out in the small hours. Efficient at check in and check out, luggage room for late departure, very helpful staff when asking for directions/ restaurants/ shops etc. Recommended. Read more
"Westcord CC Amsterdam extremely quiet"
This was the quietest hotel we stayed in during our Europe trip, despite being only five minutes walk from the Amsterdam Centraal train station and on the edge of the Red Light District (neighborhood not at all seedy, however). We had an inside room on the air shaft. Also very Euro modern and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
"Westcord City Centre Hotel Amsterdam"
This is very near the main station with trains to airport. Also near redlight district and trams right to the museums. But it isnt IN the redlight district and this is important. This hotel is nothing like most of the cramped, noisey places around. It's a little more but if you like sleep, security and politeness from staff, I suggest you spend the […] extra. I used to live in Amsterdam and have travelled in and out of the city a lot, so I do know what I'm talking about! I took an inside room. It was extremely quiet and comfortable. As I said, I could have found something a bit cheaper but this was well worth the little extra money for a wonderful sleep. Highly recommended. Read more
"Nice hotel, good value, great location"
Very close to the train station and main attractions. Streetcar, cabs, bike rentals and everything you need next door. Perfect location. Small but cosy rooms. Friendly and helpuf staff.
"Close to train station, City and all canal tours"
Very convenient location, walking distance from ALL (the most) Amsterdam attractions
"Decent hotel in city centre"
The hotel was a short walk from Amsterdam Central train station. Found it easily, check-in was painless, the room was fairly small but modern and more than adequate if a little dimly lit. Hotel is fairly modern and a bargain for the price. The only oddity was the glass (slightly glazed, partly see-through) bathroom door which considering the small size […] of the room does not allow much privacy when showering or using the toilet. Great shower though! Other than that the location is great if you want to be in the city, near the red light district and all the parties. No noticeable noise from the road either... Overall I would stay there again and definitely recommend it. Read more

"Great Medium-size Hotel, close to centrum"
I had a great stay at the Westcord and will certainly stay there again. The hotel is close to the central train station but off the main (touristy) drag. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the room was modern and excellent. The bathroom may put off some being enclosed in frosted glass but everything is in tip-top condition. I had a good sized […] room on the 5th floor looking towards the center of town. Read more
"Modern Hotel in Red Light Distrcit"
We were very pleased with this hotel! We wanted to stay in the main part of town for a reasonable price, and this suited all of our expectations! The room was small, but modern. Definitely get a Deluxe room because little things like a safe and internet are included in the upgrade.

"Ideal"
Very convenient central location. Polite, friendly, helpful staff. Clean, modern rooms (although a little small). Great hotel at a great price.
"Comfortable, great central location"
The only problem was that the shower did not drain. We did not discover this until just before going to bed. This would not stop us from staying here again. Check out the stuff in the room before accepting the room.
"Great location."
nice, clean hotel. everything was really nice. the bathroom walls and door were clear, so there was no privacy! not cool if your with you best friend, but great if your with your girlfriend. other than that it was a good stay!

"Pretty good hotel for the price - very clean and remodeled rooms are nice"
we picked this hotel because we were arriving late into amsterdam and wanted to get off the train and walk to our hotel with luggages without having to pay for a taxi. it was about a 10 minute walk and is just about 2 blocks from major things to do/see at night. the surrounding areas at night may seem "shady" but its amsterdam lots of little alleys […] look that way. the hotel was very clean and the room is small but that didnt bother my girlfriend or me at all. "clean comfortable good location"
Not in luxurious category but ok if you are not for staying in room for long periods. Very clean, staff friendly & efficient. Rooms have unusual layout, are quite small, obscure glass partitioned shower rooms, rain type shower is good. Corridors are basically finished, foyer area is fine. Good location 5 mins walk to Dam Sq, canals, train station, except […] for small red light district at rear of hotel but this should not affect your stay as there is little reason to use this entrance. "Horrible Service ruined our Amsterdam experience"
The hotel staff has no clue of what hospitality is all about (especially 7am to 3pm shift). They were totally unfriendly, looked at us like we are enemy and kept telling us that we could not take our bicycle to our room because the room was too small, because it will damage the room and how it's a fire hazard to have one there. We travelled with our […] bicycle most Europe and America and never had a problem with it. My wife and I were there only for 2 nights and we could not wait to get out of this hotel. This hotel truly made our Amsterdam experience horrible and we would never stay in this place or even recommend it to anyone. The rooms however were well decorated. The bathroom design was weird with only glass wall separating it from the room. Not recommended to share the room with a friend since they can hear and see everything you do in the bathroom/shower.. Bottom line, it's good value for the money but the service was horrible. Read more
"A Great Stay In Amsterdam"
I have visited Amsterdam on several occasions and stayed in quite a few place. However, I have found a hotel that is not too over priced, very pleasant staff, comfortable rooms with the most amazing bed! I slept like a baby. It is centrally located, no more than 10 minutes walk to the main places in the city centre and right opposite a tram stop, […] should you want to go further afield. A very enjoyable stay and I have already booked another long weekend at the hotel! Read more
"3 stars is right"
it's a very nice-looking hotel. bathroom sink was made of glass. somewhat modern feel. bathroom walls facing bedroom are made of glass. very nice. toilet was crammed between sink and shower. i'm a small person, and i had to slip in between the sink and shower just to get to the toilet. the rest of the room was slightly crammed too. not much room for […] chair and desk. foot of bed is directly against the wall. but it all works out alright if you don't mind the small area. there are light switches on the headboard of the bed, so it was nice to be able to turn off all the lights from bed. shower drainage was slow, but they came and fixed it immediately. lightbulb above sink was not working, but they didn't fix that. not sure why that was so difficult to fix. i was on 5th floor facing east (that is, if amsterdam central station is north of the hotel). decent view of tops of other buildings including a church. location is excellent. 10 minute walk from amsterdam central station. so you're very close to the canal tours. anne frank house is 10 minutes away. Rijksmuseum is 25 minute walk or you can take the 2 or 5 train which stops very nearby. the 1 computer they had for guests was broken, so i had to go to internet cafe to print. it was a pain because they charged 2 euros min. for half hour, and 50 cents to print. internet in room worked fine, even though the cord was short. few small restaurants nearby. couple of internet cafes. i noticed 1 adult dvd store, but the red light district is a good 20 minute walk away. so if you want to avoid that area, just don't go too far east or go around. they have granny smith apples at the front desk in a vase. looks like decoration, but it's edible. take one. "Cental and close to railway station"
The room was very small, but good for our purpose. The glass ensuite was not a problem. "westcord hotel amsterdame"
Was a good room alittle cool in the evening the heating didn't seem to be very hot though when in bed was warm enough. the toilet alittle tight near the shower but a well postioned place for the heart of the city.
"Good Localization, small room"
Small rooms, but amazing shower!! Expensive breakfest
"Westcord City Centre Hotel Amsterdam"
Beautiful hotel right in the middle of De Wallen district in Amsterdam. Convenient location across the road to main retail, shopping, eating street and beautiful canals in surrounding streets. 500 metres to Amsterdam Centraal Train Station enabling us to walk with our cases to the hotel. Museums and tourist attractions all within walking distance and […] great restaurants of every cuisine type within a 3 block perimeter. Staff were obliging and helpful, wifi was free and rates very competitive for the standard of hotel. Hotel recently refurbished altho one of our rooms had a leaking shower- staff changed rooms for us without fuss. will stay there again. Read more
"For Business Travellers"
Good hotel to stay as bed and breakfast. As a location all public transport facility are nearby. Hotel staff was also good and cooperative in resolving queries. For Indians who will like to have Indian food while stay in amsterdam they can just take 10 steps on left of this hotel and will find a famous Indian restaurant.

"Westcord city centre....a good option!"
Recently stayed for 4 nights in room 307, nice room with a view of the "girls" working a window, lol, and very little street noise as its at the back of the hotel. Hotel staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the service was very good. Hotel has a luggage room which was great as we were not flying back until 2100hrs, although checkout was at 12 midday. […] I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants value for their money, book through hotels.com for the best prices and simple service. As far as the rooms go they are clean and modern and comfortable, however the glass walls to the bathroom may not be to everyones taste but for a couple its not a problem. Room was a little chilly as i think the heating is centrally controlled, however it was -10 outside but just warmish not hot. Location is great 3mins walk from central station so no need for a taxi, 5 mins from damrak and dam square, and about a slow 10 mins stroll to the red light district, ideal location for most places. The only downside is that when we stayed last year the hotel had just finished a renovation, so it was bright and clean, this year, whilst the rooms were clean enough there were just 1 or 2 signs that the standard had started to slip...minor details really, nothing to be concerned about but when you see things from "new" then only 12 months later its not as "bright" as it was (pipework under the glass sink dusty, some grouting with black marks on it in the shower, the odd dirty mark on the carpet, the bulb above the mirror not working etc) you begin to think if they dont deep clean it soon it could in another 12 months loose its edge. However dont let our thoughts put you off its a friendly hotel in a fantastic area and at a great price. Last year i thought it was the equivelent of a 4* in the uk, now its about a 3.75! Read more
