"Noisy air conditionner"
Overall we had a good stay at this hotel. It has been renovated and it does look good for a Comfort In. Our only complaint was the air conditioning unit, which was SO LOUD it was hard to get a good nights sleep. We were in room 130.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was perfect. Close to the St Laurent mall and access to the bus depot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Terrible location. Exterior needs major upgrade."
Staff on check in were nice. Assistant manager upon check out did not want to issue receipt. When customer insisted the computers crashed. The exterior of the hotel was in need of upgrade. The window in my room was cracked. The hotel room door did not lockGenuine Expedia guest review

"If traveling with pets, it Ok!"
It is the kind of place you won't repeat, but is at least the only place close to Ottawa's downtown to travel with pets, and that is the only reason why we chose it. After all, is only an Inn, but could be a bit better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The complimentary breakfast didn't start till 6:30 am. My work day starts at 6:30 and the breakfast would better accommodate people were it to start earlier. The exhaust fan in the bathroom sounded like an old diesel engine. I unplugged it for the duration of my stay. The lady at the front desk (in a make-shift hotel room) seemed I convenience every […] time I passed through, almost as if I woke her up. "limited choices with a dog!"
The staff reception is super polite and patient and calm and collected. We had a few issues. Within minutes from checking out our power went out. He immediately corrected the problem. Later on we pulled the covers down and the sheets were uncleaned and recently stained. He immediately brought clean sheets and apologized. The hotel reeks of smoke in […] the hallways. The rug smells of dog urine. The toilet was uncleaned and messed up from the previous stay. We were very disappointed because we had stayed there before a few years and it was fine. There were no screens on the patio doors so we had to block the door with a chair to keep the dog in. The smell was nauseating so the door had to remain open most of the time. We had to put up with it and count our blessings since there were no other hotel that would accept a dog in the area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Too close to the Trans Canada Highway,"
The air conditioner in our room would start rattling sporatically, woke us up all night, finally turned it off at 4:00 a.m., then the room got too hot, did not get much sleep. The faucets in the shower needs repair, when taking a shower or bath, half the water flow comes through the shower and half of it comes through the bottom tap. Reported both these […] problems when I signed out. The continental breakfast was good. Hotel is conveniently placed to all ammenities, however, very close to the HIghway, heard the traffic all night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Convenient location for our purposes, hotel needs updating.Genuine Expedia guest review
Things were just dirty. In need of updating and repair. We had a non-smoking room and it smelt like a smoking room. Climate control didn't work in the room and the tub leaks water. Never again will I stay there!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Stinky smokey hotel"
I booked a non-smoking room for 3 nights. I believe we were directly beside or across from the smoking rooms. The halls reeked of cigarette smoke and my room reeked as well. It didn't matter whether we entered the hotel through the main lobby or through a back door, the halls reeked of cigarettes. On Thursday night the halls had smoke in them, so my […] daughter & I had to hold our breath to walk down the hall!! I had to put a towel across the bottom of my hotel room door to keep the stink out of the room. I will never book at the hotel again! We could not breath clean air & came home with our belongings smelling of cigarettes!!! Incredibly gross! This hotel should not be allowed to advertise non-smoking since EVERYWHERE had smoke or the smell of it...even on the second floor! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Happy With Comfort Inn East"
Good location off Queensway. Delivers what you expect - happy with hotel. Good hotel on a budget - breakfast simple but adequate. Pariking free. Next to St. Laurent shopping mall so you can shop and be back in hotel in 5 minutes.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would stay again"
Staff is very friendly. Beware that some rooms are smoking. Even if you get a non-smoking room, the smoking rooms are right across the hall. The room was clean and comfy. The only complaint about the room is that the temperature is hard to control. Good location, right next to restaurants and St Laurent Shopping Centre.Genuine Expedia guest review

"So much for smoke-free"
Didn't have high expectations for my stay here, but even with that said I was very disappointed. The room was supposed to be smoke free but stank of smoke, due to everyone outside smoking right below my windows. I couldn't even close the window because there is no AC and the room was very hot. I had my 3-month old baby with me so I was forced to choose […] between temperature and odor, not a good situation to be in. Plus, the comforter was very stained, the windows had no screens, and the corridors smelled like a musty basement. I will not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable room for price paid..."
The hotel was clean and comfortable. We checked in late in the evening and only spent less than 12 hours there. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean but we felt that it could have been cleaner around the edges. The free breakfast was okay, but would have been better if there was a place to sit and eat instead […] of taking it back to the room, because then everything was cold. "Nicely renovated property if you are looking for an inexpensive hotel"
07/31/14 Carolina M Burlington, Canada
I am not sure how to rate this hotel as it is probably a three star property but I would say they did a fabulous job in that category. It is not the Hilton, there is not room service but that is not what they strive to be. The rooms were completely redone with nice granite counters, clean beds and a fridge in the room. A few little touches are left undone like the radiators in the bathrooms could be painted, the shower cocking and taps could use some attention but again for the money not a bad place to hang your hat and it was clean They had a breakfast laid out in the morning. Muffins were very stale, but server was nice and coffee was hot. The manager was very nice and when I didn't have enough change to get a water he lent me a looney and I returned it later that day. When I needed a cab they called for one for me. Overall I would recommend this property if you are looking for a clean, inexpensive option.

Stayed here recently for work. I'll start with the positives safe neighbourhood with mall next door and lone star restaurant close by. Breakfast is good although very small and a bit crowded. Now for the bad stuff...shady front desk worker doesn't smile and seemed annoyed to be serving or looking after customers had to repeat my reservation information to him several times really just not suited for front line customer service industry Next the rooms... It's an older hotel and is apparently non smoking but rooms stunk like smoke. Bathroom was small dirty and dated cracks in the tub/shower. Had my windows open the entire stay which helped get fresh air in, but hotel is next to major highway so lots of noise I didn't see any bugs but the room/hotel need major $$$ updates to modernize or at the very least catch up with years of neglect I looked to switch hotels but the entire city was booked so I stuck it out but I'd encourage anyone to look else where if staying in ottawa

My husband chose this place for its proximity to the memorial service we were to attend. He got locked into a non-refundable reservation before he had a chance to read any reviews because Comfort Inn has an arrangement with Google Maps to highlight their location over others in the same area. Luckily for us, the place has undergone a recent renovation, but the bones of a sorry old motel are still evident underneath. That said, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is non-functional, the water runs out of the shower head but not out of the tub faucet, the tub is old, and the hallways still smell of days gone by when smoking was permitted. The motel is located in a dreary industrial area close to Rte. 417 and other busy roads -- all undergoing heavy construction. Nowhere to eat other than chain places, and the free breakfast is nothing to write home about. Lots of pickup trucks in the parking lot (though I'm not sure what that says about the place). Value was OK for the price, but we certainly wouldn't go here again.
"Thank goodness for renovations"
03/21/14 Stewart M Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
I had previously stayed here and it was not very nice it was old outdated dirty and smelled, now that they have done the renovations and it's a non smoking hotel it's much better. my only complaints are that the patio door handle was bent and you could not lock the inside patio door also the bathtub was in bad shape. it seems they changed everything except the tub and the coating on the floor of the tub was all peeled away so it was uncomfortable to stand on when taking a shower.also note this hotel is a stones throw from the highway so if you like to keep your window or doors open in the summer you will have allot of traffic noise. if you keep the windows closed you really don't hear much of the traffic.
"Comfort Inn, more like the doghouse...."

I stayed at this hotel during the Canada day long weekend in 2013, and all i have to say is disgusting! The hotel was extremely disgusting, the sheets smelled of fish, they were damp, and the washroom had hair in the tub and in the sink, the carpet was damp and dirty, and the breakfast area isn't an area, but a small space near the front door of the hotel, and with 5 people in the area, you have to watch where you step. The guests there were load and rude, and were running around the halls and screaming. The $250 for two days obviously was not worth it. I stayed at a Comfort Inn in Buffalo and it was top notch, this place, is not worth to be under the name Comfort Inn.
"Close to highway but needs some TLC"
11/20/13 John B Belleville, Canada
I have stayed in dozens of Comfort Inns and similar places. This location is obviously frequented by working class people, on the job. Meaning the parking lot is full of service vans and company vehicles. This is to be expected at this type of property on a weekday. BUT this hotel hasn't cleaned the carpet in the hall in 5 years or more? I saw the lady mopping the tiled areas, so they do care, but just needs a refresh. Also no newspapers, when asked I was told they stopped delivering them "awhile ago" and no cream for coffee, told probably tomorrow.

We stay in a lot of Choice Hotels and were very disappointed with this one. It is an old building, with scuffed walls and stained furniture. The carpet was frayed, in the halls and our room. The outside doors were not locked making the security questionable. The room itself was clean, with a very comfortable bed and lots of storage area. The small bathroom had plenty of towels. Usually there is an area to eat breakfast but this hotel only had the food set up in the lobby with only a few chairs and trays to take the food to the rooms. The selection wasn't up to normal standards and the hand sanitizers were empty. The front staff were pleasant and helpful, offering advice on restaurants and directions. The location was just off the highway, with a mall across the street and plenty of restaurant choices nearby.

Have stayed at a number of chains while in the process of visiting Ottawa. In summary; service poor, bathroom very dirty (mold) For $ 18.00 for parking additional the Holiday Inn or Best Western are a much more enjoyable stay.

Read some reviews and my question is : what did you expect from a Confort Inn? I came to ths hotel the first time just because I was with a friend who did not have much money to spend. It was my first time in this type of establishment but, I checked what it was and was not expecting much. As a matter of fact, I was nicely surprised the first time as our smoking room was downstairs and we had acess to the outside; where, the second time I took a non smoking room and all the windows were totally locked. The first time, the room was clean, everything was fine and the pillows were so soft that I felt asleep immediately. The second time, on the second floor, the carpet in the hall was filthy and needed to be replaced urgently, there were suspicious stains on the desk chair, the water was leaking in the bathroom sink and the bathtub had grey scratches. In addition, we could not rent a film as they had problems with their movie channels. However, the room was clean, the beds also and the staff, both times, has always been very nice and helpful. In addition, who stays in a hotel ? This place is really well located : just outside of the highway and you can walk to the mall behind for shopping ! There are great restaurants all around or minutes away and you are downtown in less than 10 minutes with your car. Let me tell you that when you know how difficult and expensive it s to park in Ottawa, this hotel is really practical ! The breakfast is mediocre but they have good Arabica coffee in the rooms, a microwave and a small frige which I did not even expect in such an establishment. I went back there because of is location.however, it is way too expensive: $119 w/out taxes where you can pay the same price for a double room at the Hôtel des Gouverneurs, 4 stars, in Montréal for a night ! I appreciated the location for what I had to do each time I came to Ottawa but, indeed, I don't think I will come back. There are other hotels around which I will indeed check out next time.
