This hotel is a gem. I had a junior suite, it was a little small, but everything was spotless and nicely decorated. The service was friendly and fast. Picked this hotel because it was a great price and it seemed like a good location. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that it was located next to all the fancy hotels that we couldn't afford. The walls however are paper thin and you could hear pretty much every conversation that people were having in the hallway and in nearby rooms. Great location - right on the beautiful swimming beach, very close to all the action in the South Beach (walking distance). Very charming room - clean, has refrigirator, flat screen tv. Great bed - very comfortable, clean, crisp sheets, beautiful white spread. The mattress if firm, though -- was fine for me, but some people might perfer something softer. Some reviews mentioned noise -- I did not hear anything and I had a room with connected door; but I brought ear plugs just in case. Beautiful pool as well; quite and relaxing. "Oceanfront Hotel from another Place in Time"
The Richmond Hotel is located on the South Beach, Miami Beach Area. It is an older hotel and the rooms reflect this. They are small, and somewhat outdated yet very clean and functional. The small circular driveway in the front of the hotel allows only 3 small subcompact cars at a time. Valet parking is encouraged and necessary, and is an additional […] charge of $35 per night. The location is perfect and the breakfast room, lounge area in the back of the hotel, which you must pass through to reach the ocean, is very charming and comfortable. The staff was warm, accommodating, and available. As you exit to walk the beach you will find a beautiful brick walkway which runs between the hotels and the beach. The beach is well maintained and has chairs and umbrellas to rent. Directly across from the Richmond is a restaurant that serves good food 24 hours a day. In the end it was OK. We had to change our room twice in the beginning, because it wasn't ready and the other room someone smoked, even though it's a smoke free room policy. There is smoking at the pool area, which was hard to relax. There were some maintenance issues, but they quickly accommodated once reported. Food was OK, but some items a bit pricey. The Richmond Oceanfront is a very well located hotel - close to shopping, restaurants, and best of all, the beach. The service is friendly and accomodating, and although the hotel is well maintained its age is evident despite the renovations that keep the spaces in decent, but not excellent shape. If you like a peaceful setting while in Miami Beach this is the place to do it - the pool area is pretty quiet except for noises from the neighboring hotels. As for the not so nice - I have some hesitations about exactly how clean the hotel is - we had a problem with a pretty nasty creepy crawler while there and though we were accomodated immediately with a move, I could not quite get over the need to watch where I step...
