TRYP Mérida Medea Hotel - Merida

Merida is an amazing and amazingly hot place. The TRYP is located close enough to the center of town to be considered Roman-Ruin friendly but far enough away to be quieter. And the pool was fantastic!

The hotel is very easy to find as you enter Merida. They have a parking garage at the hotel but there is a parking lot just on the side of the garage o the hotel grounds that I was able to use w/o paying a parking fee. There are only a few free parking slots though...about 8ish. We took a cab out to town to see the roman ruins which was really cheap. […] Awesome staff! So friendly. As a 4 star hotel this one was disappointing. The decor was dated and in need of upgrade. The walls in the bedroom had many scrapes and stains, although the rooms were clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and a visit to the local McDonald's was very interesting.

We enjoyed our stay at the Tryp Hotel in Merida. The directions were explicit, and we found it easily. The hotel was very pleasant, and the room light and airy. We expected to be a little nearer the centre of Merida, and personally needed to drive there, but accept that it would have been within walking distance for the more athletic. The Tryp Medea is not located right in old Merida but the historical section is only a pleasant walk away. It takes 10 minutes to walk down Avenida de Portugal to the ancient Puento Romano and another 10 minutes to cross this 0.8 km long Roman masterpiece over the Rio Guadiana to get right into the heart of the old town. Our room was cheerful, airy, […] large, quiet, comfortable, very well maintained and spotless. We had floor to ceiling windows and a glass door that opened onto a tiny balcony. All our floors were marble and the bathroom was also panelled with marble. The decor was slightly funky faux Greco-Roman but we got a kick out of it. We had a flat panel TV that even had a couple of English channels. The staff was friendly and helpful. The internet was not free; 2 euros for 60 minutes. At 15 euros each, we declined the buffet breakfast and instead had coffee and croissants across the street. We parked for free in the outside lot but, if that’s full, it costs 10 euro to park in the hotel garage. Read more

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 2 year old daughter in a family room. Everything about it was distinctly average apart from the service which was the worst I have ever received (and I travel a lot.) They seemed to think it appropriate to put us in a room 2 floors up from their function suite and with a window looking over the patio area where […] they hosted a Spanish Election party which started at 12.30am and continued until 4.30am. We did not sleep at all. The hotel was not particularly busy and the shape of it meant that we could easily have been situated totally away from the noise. People appeared to be allowed to cruise the hotel as they wished, shouting in the corridors outside of the rooms. When we complained to the manager he shrugged his shoulders and said that he too had slept at the hotel that night and had not had a problem with the noise. No apology at all. I am sure, judging by both his appearance and the smell of alcohol that he had, when the party had finished and I'm sure he probably didn't have trouble sleeping. Atrocious service - I cannot believe a hotel manager can feel it appropriate to not even acknowledge a complaint let alone apologise for it. Read more

This is a clean, friendly hotel. It is easy to find, but is about 20 minutes walk to the main attractions. This could cause difficulties for people with disabilities. Apparently there is a bus stop about a hundred yards away, but the day I stayed there was a fiesta and no buses were running. Recommended if you don't mind the walk

Vi kom med bil från Sevilla och hade till att börja med svårt att hitta till hotellets entré, det visade sig att man behövde åka igenom ett köpcentrums parkeringsområde för att komma fram... Hotellet var bra och definitivt prisvärt. Rummet var stort och sängen stor och bekväm jämfört med andra spanska hotell. Frukosten var helt OK förutom litet begränsat […] urval av youghurtsorter. Hotellet ligger inte helt nära centrum och alla sevärdheter. Hade det varit bättre väder (det regnade mest hela tiden vilket är rätt ovanligt i den här delen av Spanien) så hade promenaden till Centrum varit väldigt trevlig, eftersom man får en uppfattning om hur infarten såg ut förr i tiden med den gamla bron över floden. Staden Mérida är definitivt värt ett besök om man är det minsta intresserad av Romerska ruiner! Read more

Estancia muy buena. El trato amable y capaz. Sólo una pega. Si no fuera por el aparcamiento cercano de "El Foro" no existiría una alternativa económica, cercana y relativamente segura a pagar 10€ diarios por dejar el coche en el parking privado del hotel. Insisto en este tema ya que en pocos otros hoteles en los que me alojado con igual o menor número […] de estrellas, en otras ciudades, y tan separado del centro de la ciudad tienen tasas tan altas (en muchos de ellos su parking es gratuito). Bien. Lo recomendaría a amigos que fueran a Merida. Tiene la desventaja de estar a unos dos kilometros del centro, que a la vez es ventaja al evitar los problemas de aglomeración y aparcamiento de la zona centrica. Se puede uno acercar al rio en coche y enseguida en linea recta se pasa por el puente romano y se está en el centro.

Estuvo muy bien, habría sido perfecto con parking privado gratuito o al menos más económico (por favor, quitad esas enormes macetas que inhabilitan más de la mitad de las plazas de aparcamiento exteriores/gratuitas del hotel. Al menos, en mi humilde opinión, no da buena imagen)

Hotellet er placeret tæt på mototvej og lidt længere fra centrum, 30 times gang. Flotte værelser og rigtig fin pool. Morgenmaden var noget af det bedste vi fik på hotellerne i Spanien og Portugal. Kan klart anbefales til et par overnatninger. Byen er rigtig hyggelig om aftenen...

El hotel cuenta con unas buenas instalaciones. Para nosotros era imprescindible que contara con piscina porque en esta época del año visitar Mérida sería imposible sin un chapuzón entre monumento y monumento. El trato con el personal es muy cercano y agradable. El desayuno estuvo bastante bien porque había mucha diversidad de productos para elegir. Eché […] en falta un minibar en la habitación, aunque en el recibidor de cada planta había una máquina expendedora con bebidas, chocolatinas y pastelitos. La ducha no estaba a la altura de la categoría del hotel. La instalación (mandos y aspersor) era mediocre, el agua no tenía presión suficiente y la temperatura no era constante con picos de alta temperatura molestos. Las toallas no estaban bien colocadas y daban un poco la impresión de que habían sido utilizadas ya.

El hotel es correcto es su relación calidad-precio. El personal muy amable. El buffet del desayuno es muy variado. Está ubicado enfrente de un centro comercial (un poco de ruido por la noche), lejos del centro pero bien comunicado.

Sin duda es un buen hotel en general, con muy buen servicio, muy cómodo, limpio y el desayuno bufet es realmente delicioso y variado. En general una experiencia muy satisfactoria. Por poner varios inconvenientes diría: 1. Justo al lado del hotel hay una discoteca, la cual y aunque nuestra ventana no daba para el lateral de la discoteca, molestaba con […] ruido de música hasta no menos que las 5 a.m. Un punto muy en contra si lo que se busca es tranquilidad. 2. Problema de aparcamiento: el hotel ofrece plazas gratuitas de aparcamiento, las cuales se reducen a menos de 10 plazas, puesto que el resto ha decidido la dirección del hotel ocuparlas con macetas, las cuales son pagadas y mantenidas con los 10 euros que estás obligado a pagar por el parking privado del hotel. Existe otra posibilidad, que es dejar el vehículo en una zona muy próxima donde está el aparcamiento de la zona de ocio donde está la discoteca, eso sí, es muy difícil encontrar sitio según a que horas. En conclusión, si quitamos estos dos inconvenientes, los cuales no son para tomar a la ligera, es un muy buen hotel donde puedes pasar una estancia en Mérida. Recomendado si tienes vehículo propio puesto que está a las afueras de la ciudad. Read more
