I have stayed at the Franklin Hotel several times before and have enjoyed myself every time. This is a asmall, charming hotel with small but comfortable rooms. It is much more like a European hotel than a New York one. A delicious continental breakfast is included with the room and there is a light snack provided in the afternoon. The only drawback to our otherwise lovely room is the size of the bathroom which is minute. In spite of that I would stay here again whenever I could.

I was at first taken aback by the tiny size of the room, but it was nicely decorated, spotlessly clean and fine for me by myself. The bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was excellent, especially the capuccino machine. The only problem is that the window air condition unit was deafeningly loud. I turned it and off opened the window since it was fairly cool outside, but this could be a problem on a hot night.

I was very happy with my stay at The Franklin. The hotel is nicely located in the Upper East Side. There are two garages on the same street, if you drive there. Upon my arrival, the staff and bellman were very polite, welcoming, and helpful. The antique elevator adds to the charm. The room was New York-small but appropriate. The room was fresh, bright, and clean. Chandelier, plasma tv, modern bowl sink, new tile in bathroom (travertine?), nice shower and toilet - all new in the last year or two. Bed was very comfortable and linens bright white and fresh. Service was excellent. European breakfast was very nice. Walking distance to Central Park, Guggenheim, and the Met. Some nice restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. Excellent experience overall and I would easily recommend as an older boutique hotel with plenty of character and great service that was recently updated.

My room was small, but elegantly appointed. I might opt for a larger room next time. The European style breakfast was excellent and I loved the complimentary wine and cheese reception in the evening. My only complaint was that the room was too warm and not adjustable because it was steam heat. The staff had the engineer adjust it, but it was still a little too warm for me. Also, be aware that you must go up 3 or 4 steps to get in - no ramp available.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Franklin. Some pros: nice, quaint interior; complimentary breakfast and cocktail reception; nice neighborhood (outside the hussle and bussle of NYC) and good location for access to the City; comfy bed, iPod player. Some cons: very small room, especially for the price; the attendants at the front desk weren't as attentive as the bellhops to our requests/needs/questions. One dissapointment we had was when we had asked the hotel to make arrangements for a car service to pick us up at the hotel to take us to the airport. The hotel quoted us $60 to JFK. When we got in the car, the driver told us it was $70 + $10 for use of credit card. Otherwise, we had a nice stay.

The Franklin was a beautiful hotel with very friendly staff and lots of great perks like a 24 hour cappuccino machine, wine and cheese, etc. The only drawbacks are that it is a bit of a trek from the typical tourist sites of the city. If you want to spend time in the upper east side though, this is the hotel for you. Also, we had read that the rooms were pretty small, and they were, but still very comfortable and who spends lots of time in their hotel room when they are in New York City?

The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. My room was comfortable and easy to access and you did not hear surrounding noise from any of the other rooms. The sitting room was comfortable as was the coffee room. There was also plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area. Everything within walking distance. The room, though small, was very nice and modern. The bed was wonderful and the sink was beautiful. You have control of your own airconditioning, and a nice flat screen tv. The reservation process had tons of issues with it... they booked me and then wouldn't honor me to cancel because I called 2 hours too late from the 24 cut-off. I was delayed on a plane flight. That wasn't nice of them. But everyone was nice. They couldn't reccomend to me a restaurant for fish in the area-- I asked don't folks in NYC eat fish- She said yes and sent me to an Italian place which had 1 dish with seafood. The tv was good, the service minus those things was good. I had no real major complaints.
