"Great location at a competitive price"
Very nice hotel, very competitive with other hotels in the area on both price and service. If you're looking for a great hotel downtown and don't want to pay too much, stay here. Skip the attached restaurant, though - bad service for average food at much too high prices.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Tremont Chicago Hotel at Magnificent Mile Dear Kyle, Thank you for review and rating. Sorry to read you were not satisfied with the restaurant service. I have shared your feedback. We hope to see you again soon. Warm regards, Christine Wechter General. Manager
"great time in Chi-town"
Hotel was nice, clean and good location. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. Easy to get around town from the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I don't have anything to complain about really. The only thing that I can think of is that there was only one elevator and that the stairs were a bit hard to navigate through. They could also use some fixing up. The location was fine. A bit far to the nearest subway station but I didn't mind. All in all I enjoyed my stay in Chicago and I would love […] to go back. "Nice hotel. Locatet in the heart of city Center."
Hotel is in excellent location with very reasonable room rate. Half a block from transportation Michigan Ave. Clean. Has an excellent restaurant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very nice hotel. Convenient to the shopping areas"
Check in was easy. The front desk staff was polite. Check out was also easy. Instructions were provided to me to get the train. The DITKAS restaurant was definitely a plus.Genuine Expedia guest review
easy excess to shopping, dining, enjoying the sites. Staff was friendly. Yes I agree hotel could be updated but it was very enjoyable. Room was quiet and comfortable. Spent most of the visit away from hotel and found that the location was excellent. Great plus having a restaurant nearby and the food was great. Staff was very helpful with answering questions […] on where to go and how to get there. If you are in a hurry you will find the elevator to be a bit slow. Not a problem with us - we were so relaxed and found that we did not want to go home. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was ok"
Great location. Service was good. Had to get ice from the front desk and there was no fridge, microwave or hairdryer in the room. Probably could find similar comfort and prices but with a few extra amenities. I would only stay here again if it was drastically cheaper than my other options. Just an ok place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Easy walk from the "L" as we came in via OHare. This is an older hotel that looks tired in spots. Our bed was very comfortable, good restaurant, Ditkas, next door. Reasonably priced meals. 1/2 block from Michigan Ave to the east and Rush Street to the west. Would definitely stay here again. Only frustration was the very unpredictable wifi service in […] the rooms. Could always get good signal in lobby. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
You could not ask for a better spot for a hotel to be in Chicago...right across from the John Hancock Tower, one block from Michigan Ave. Everything is in walking distance...the beach, the Bean, and the subway, if you need to get somewhere else. The restaurant connected to the hotel is also great...Ditka's!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Leaves something to be desired"
The hotel staff was nice enough, but not what I expected. I am hoping that we had the worst room in the hotel because I feel bad for every other person that stays there. Our window in our room gave us a great view of the air conditioner but nothing else. The shower didn't drain so I was standing in 2 inches of water the entire time. It was clean enough […] and didn't smell bad which was about the only plus. The location was great though and served our purpose. The best thing about this hotel is they held our bags for us for the day after checkout but before we caught the train. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exceeded my expectations"
Location, location, location and very well done...generous suite...bed was particularly comfortable and the amenities first rate. There is self serve parking one short block away for $41 for 24 hours...normally $45 but Talbot provides a coupon for $4 off. "Dark and Dingy Hotel Rooms :("
There are better hotel rooms for the money. The only thing this hotel still has going for it is location. Outside of that, the hotel room was outdated and there was paint peeling from the walls and ceiling. I'm sure this was a great hotel back in the day, but it's in sore need of a contemporary rehab to get my vote on a revisit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The elevator issue is a real problem. I am surprised it meets code. The hotel really need total redecorating. The heating did not work. So we left the thermostat on off, but it was cold.Genuine Expedia guest review
Place is in need of a major renovation. One tiny elevator has you doing a lot of waiting or spending a lot of time in the stairwell. Profile claims hotel has a "business center": This turns out to be a single computer opposite the front desk, monitor mounted to the wall, without a chair. All in all, not much bang for the buck.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very old property"
There was only one elevator. Even though the inside of it was newly remodeled, it was very small and not adequate for the size of the hotel. It was also used by staff (with large bins of dirty laundry) as well as guests. The room was OK, except that the closet was behind the bathroom door, the shower handle fell off in my hand, and I could barely operate […] the sink faucet. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and my room was quiet. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We celebrated our first anniversary here. At in the Hancock tower on the 95th floor, then had drinks at Ditka's.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great day in Chicago"
Close to many attractions. Very friendly staff. A bit of a wait to get your valet parked vehicle but all is forgiven. Felt at home because the hotel was built the same year as the apartment building I live in, 1929.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was lovely! The staff was helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions. The location was perfect!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Grea Location for Magnificent mile"
great - part of Westin Group so they have the most comfortable bedsTwo notices though : 1 - poor tv service in the rooms - do not even have CNN ; 2 - only one elevator so long wait for lift - suggest you get a lower floor room and walk down the stairs - I was on 5th floor and did this every day - not a big dealGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Being on the 14th floor, 1 elevator in the hotel was not enough since it was shut down 2-3 times for an extended period of time. Felt this was a major safety concern. Some gentleman sd. this has been going on for some time. Don't know that for a fact but he sd. we should expect more troubles. Inspite of that, the room was wonderful. We have stayed at this hotel in the past and only booked it again due to location. However we were pleasantly surprised it had been updated: new carpet, furniture, bedding and bathrooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location/Friendly Staff"
We were able to get a great deal for a quick trip to the city for dinner and to see family member. When we got there the desk clerk was friendly offered to sign us up for their reward program and gave us a room with a great view of Hancock Building and Lake. The only down side was our ceiling fan light came on twice while we were there-not sure why […] maybe the room was haunted. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I needed a hotel for an overnight stay so I didn't have to drive home late and back into the city early for work. The Tremont was inexpensive and is located in a great location. Lots of nightlife and places to go. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. Highly recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Michigan Ave."
The staff was great and the room was clean. It did feel like the room had gone through a remodel recently but there were a few details missed, like painting the closet where the door frame had been changed or where the old curtain fixture used to be. There is no fitness center in the hotel but they were able to accommodate me with a fitness pass to […] the hotel across the street. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a great stay! The facility was quaint and clean. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. The only complaint I could express is that we had a room that used to be a connected room and we could hear everything that was happening in the adjacent room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hallway was so filthy that I almost walked out of the hotel. The room was clean altho it was a corner room and just outside both windows was the building's mechanical system. I asked for a wake up call but never received it. Not a great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Vintage But Still Great"
This is an older hotel that still makes a great stay in Chicago. Close to Mag Mile and Water Tower, Rush Street, and lots of places to eat and drink. Staff is helpful and friendly, and the place is well kept and rooms are quiet. I choose this over the big hotels anytime!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The hotel is located in the heart of Chicago"
Room was clean, easy walking to any attraction in the center, staff was nice and helping. Elevator was an issue - singe elevator serves 16 floors and the maintnenance team. You can wait forever for it to arrive. If you wish to use the stairs you ancounter a terrible smell from the kitchen :-(Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Hancock building"
Booked 3 rooms at this low cost hotel close to Hancock, site of stair climb event. Temperature control in rooms was poor. My son called for service - middle of night and room was over 80 degrees. No maintenance showed up. Elevator repairs Monday AM made our departure slow. Everything else was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"April 2014 stay"
The room was very small, but expected for an inner city hotel in an old building. The rooms and hallways need an updating with a fresh coat of paint. The lobby was fine.Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall the stay went very well. Your location is critical for my choosing and it met the bill. Still irk's me I had to pay $61.00 for parking each night. Bed was very comfortable. Hot water not the hottest. But suffice to say it all went well Will stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tremont is a great value in heart of downtown"
Tremont is now a Starwood property. It is next door to Dikta's and across street from a very nice Starbucks. Located one block from north Michigan Avenue it is very convenient. A great value stay. The hotel is comfortable, but not in great shape. Needs paint job, new carpets in public areas - but is clean throughout. Staff is friendly and helpful. Valet […] service right in front with in/out privileges. No fridge in room. On a very quiet street, no noise - get a high up room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Probably will not return to the Tremont"
The a/c did not work, it blew out hot air. The room had a ceiling fan but it had a mind of its own, with the light and fan going on and off all by itself multiple times. I finally took the bulb out so it would stop going on. The complimentary shampoo and conditioner smelled awful. The walls and ceiling had paint peeling and the door had cracked wood […] up against the door handle. Been to a whole bunch of hotels in Chicago, but will not return here. "weekend get away"
My boyfriend and I stayed at The Tremont Friday and Saturday night. The room was very small. The bed was comfortable and it was clean everything was just smushed together. We could hardly get the TV to come on, we had to unplug it and plug it back in a few times. Then when it came on the remote to change the channel didn't work. The lights and ceiling […] fan came on several times at night while we were sleeping which was very creepy and cold. The location was convenient for shopping and night life though. The room was clean and people were nice but I'd give this hotel a weak 3 and would probably not stay there again. Just wasn't comfortable there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable stay and awesome location!"
Freddy and Allison (front desk) were very accomadating making our stay unforgettable. The hotel is small but is rich in many ways. Great location right by the water tower, cheesecake factory etc. Free coffee and tea! The bed in our room is so comfy,I did not want to get out of bed! I definitely would stay here again! Thank you!Genuine Expedia guest review
Location was great, room size were pretty small, rooms are pretty outdated but it is an older hotel. Bathrooms were descent. They put me in a room that was still being occupied so I was upgraded to the King Delux. Could've been more cleanGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel baffles you. It's 2014 and they have managed to do the minimal. It could be easily updated with a nice paint job. Instead you find small unfinished crevices. For some reason there is only one working elevator. Again, why? The staff politely steps off if a customer is getting on, but completely unnecessary. Just get the thing fixed already! […] The rooms are small. However, very comparable to other boutique hotels in the area. I know this from experience. The bathroom is nice, narrow shower tho with a strange double shower head. There is little counter space in the restroom as well, but overall not bad. The bed however, very comfortable! You get a great nights sleep. They have awesome cable as well. It's not the usual fifteen channels. Plenty to watch. There is a safe in the closet. However, there is no fridge or microwave in the room. Again, this is not uncommon in these downtown hotels. This It is inconvenient if you go out to eat and have leftovers. Also, there's no ice machine or vending machine. You have to go downstairs to the front desk to get ice. They have to walk to the second floor to the ice machine and then back down to the first floor to bring it to you. Parking is a fortune. Find that before you get there. Do a search online for discount spots. There is a great spot two blocks away that cost half as much as what the hotels charge. Overall, staff is very friendly. They do a good job cleaning. Good for a quick stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
