Really enjoyed the fact that this hotel was located just off of Michigan Ave. near the Water Tower Place. A Starbucks right across the street too. Staff friendly, clean rooms and comfortable bed. It is an older hotel, but kept up well. Would stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
The only thing this hotel has is location. The bathrooms are GROSS. The tiles were literally falling off the walls and I would have to put them back. You couldn't take a shower without it becoming a bath because the drains were clogged and they never did anything about it. It also looked as if there was mold on the ceiling of the shower area where the […] paint was peeling off. The furniture looked like it had been there since they originally opened their doors l. Which seemed to be in the 19th century. The elevators were the smallest I had ever seen and took forever. The only fridge around was on the forth floor right outside the elevator. It sat there the entire 4 days. Did they forget to put it away? Like I said before, the location is the only thing they have. You would think they would be smart enough to give it a bit of a face lift to make it more pleasant to the eyes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid room 410!"
Booked through Expedia, and ended up only staying 2 out of the 4 nights. Saw that this specific room was also reviewed on Expedia (sadly, too late) and it not only is near the elevator, but is near the housekeeping closet, and captures every noise from the restaurant next store. I barely got a few hours sleep in two nights, as these variety of noises […] woke me up in addition to the lights going on and off at a whim. It felt like due to the rate at which I had purchased the room led me to be given this room versus another, which I did mention when I checked out. I did not asked to be moved during the stay, but did get assistance with the lights issue the morning after my first night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in the Tremont Suites. It is a seperate building compared to the Tremont Hotel. I cannot comment on what the hotel rooms are like, but the suite rooms are an old apartment complex that was converted into a hotel. We have a baby and were looking for a hotel suite with a physical door to the bedroom that seperated it from the living room so […] we could put her down in the evening and still be able to hang together in the living room. So it met that requirement. But other than that, it left much to be desired. It looks like little to nothing was updated when Tremont acquired this property. It desperately needs a facelift, but the location is prime. So I think you truly get what you pay for. The price point and location were in line with the quality of the room. I think the price is right but it would be nice for the ameneties to be updated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty nice Hotel"
Pros: Location was good, comfortable beds, bathroom was really nice, rooms were clean, rooms were remodeled nicely, safe was in room, left bottles of water in the rooms, nice flat panel TV, temperature controlled in room, restaurant in hotel but very expensive, Friendly staff. Cons: Old building, no continental breakfast unless you pay for it, no swimming […] pool, no fitness room, no vending or ice on floors, Scary stairway that leads to kitchen, have to walk through a construction site to get the hotel lobby. "Great location, but showing age, wear, and tear."
You're paying for the location at this place - half a block to the Hancock, two blocks to the red line. Staff was courteous and responsive, but there are no amenities to speak of. Nothing was falling apart, per se, but everything just looked old and getting close to needing replacement. We had a standard queen room and it was tiny. While the bed and […] headboard were nice, the hardwood furniture was old and in rough condition. There isn't good insulation so we could here all the hallway traffic and doors opening and closing. We could never seem to get the room to a cool temperature (came for a summer trip), but it wasn't uncomfortably warm in the room. Bathroom was clean and looked well maintained. Not many electricity plugs, so good luck charging more than two devices at a time. If you aren't going to spend a lot of time in you're room and don't care about space, luxuries, or amenities, this place is the best value in the city - the Tremont was the cheapest place near downtown or Gold Coast by $50 a night. "Don't risk it."
After booking this hotel with Expedia, we arrived to check in a very old hotel with lots of charm and character. The valet was kind, the lobby was pretty. But, when we checked in the host said, "I'm sorry, we're all full. We have to move you to our apartment suites in the building next door. Sorry." He wasn't sorry. But he really should've been. The […] apartment suites were disgusting. Old, smelled bad, outdated furniture, extremely small tv. The street view was blocked by delivery trucks and garbage cans. The one king size bed was replaced with two queen size ones... quite the awkward surprise for my wife and I. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was in Chicago with my daughter for a girls only weekend. The staff was very helpful giving us directions around town. We were a block away from American Girl and John Hancock Center. I wish there was a small fridge in the room for snacks. Kids get hungry at random times and a fridge would have really helped. Loved the convenience of the Tremont! […] Plus, Ditka's is right there! Great location near rush street and activities. Our room was right next to elavator on 4th floor but we never heard it! Thought for sure we were doomed but it all worked out. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Tremont is in my favorite neighborhood in Chicago, super easy walk to everything. The lobby is quaint, the rooms are a nice size, the bed was to DIE for we loved our comfy king size bed, there were just some minor condition issues that could easily be remedied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming old hotel close to Water Tower"
We enjoyed the hospitality and charm of the old hotel. Our room was a large corner room with windows on two sides. The king bed was lavishly covered with soft sheets and a comfy duvet. The pillows were a bit hard. The bathroom was very small and had some cracked tiles and water damage. But overall the accomodations were great. Ditka's bar was like the […] Cheers bar--very friendly and great drinks. The upstairs bar was quaint also, and there were many small private dining areas with walls of photos of great athletes. Just a short block from Water Tower Place and great shopping. Also just a block away from the shops and restaurants of Rush Street. Perfect location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location is everything!"
The proximity of this hotel to everything we wanted to do and see was absolutely perfect!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great experience with the Tremont Hotel on a recent trip to Chicago for a wedding. Service at the hotel was consistently good while the room was very clean and comfortable. Location was excellent. While there were a few idiosyncrasies to the hotel (gym offsite, one elevator), it was overall a great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Outdated, Go somewhere else."
I was disappointed. the room was too small, the bathroom was outdated, I felt like I was in the 70's. I checked in early, went out and didn't come back till 11 pm. As I was getting ready for bed, I noticed stains on the white comforter. I don't know what they were, but I was too tired to investigate. "Calm Hotel Close to the Action"
My boyfriend and I stayed here while attending Lollapalooza in 2014. We chose the hotel because of the price and the proximity to Grant Park/the loop. We were very impressed with the decor of the hotel, as well as the convenience to what we were in the city for. The neighborhood seems safe as well, which was very nice as we aren't from the Chicago area, […] and were happy to land in a good place. "E-Z Walking Distance"
Just perfect. This is our 3rd stay at the Tremont. When we're in Chicago, we're on the go, so we don't need all the hotel amenities we'd never use. At The Tremont we get a perfect location, a comfortable room, and a relaxing ambience in the sitting area. Plus, the continental breakfast fuels us for busy days and nights on the town. All at a great rate […] with great service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Left an envelope of money in the desk drawer. I forgot about it until 3 days after checking out. I called and the room attendant had turned the money in. I was so thankful. "Easy to walk to shopping and restaurants."
The room location was next to roof units for air exchange or air conditioning. Noisy at times. Also there was an odor of sewer in the bathroom; the sink gurgled at times. The king size bed was much too large for the room size.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location (with very poor services!)"
The hotel is very nicely located. The rooms and lobby are a major disappointment. Every aspect of the physicals disappoint. Couldn't draw hot water in the shower. No coffee service available in any room!!! No coffee in the lobby -- only late AM at adjoining public restaurant, or across the street! No ice service (buckets, machines, etc.) in any room. […] No mini 'frig. so if you want a cold soda, beer, or glass of water you are in the wrong hotel. If you don't want to get up and get dressed and venture onto the street for coffee you've booked a" Bad Bet Hotel". I've given this well located hotel it's last chance and will not go back. And I'm not very fussy, just like hot showers, cold water and ice available, and coffee before mid morning and in my room! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I like that we where close to almost everything. We walked a lot. Only thing I didn't really like was the parking, having to pay everyday, but it is Chicago I guess. Having lived in Chicago for almost 30 years, I wanted to be where I was within walking distance of shopping, theater, great "gatronomic experiences" (restaurants) - the Tremont provided a central location with a very comfroatble room at a very reasonable rate. "Great location at a competitive price"
Very nice hotel, very competitive with other hotels in the area on both price and service. If you're looking for a great hotel downtown and don't want to pay too much, stay here. Hotel was nice, clean and good location. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations. Easy to get around town from the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I don't have anything to complain about really. The only thing that I can think of is that there was only one elevator and that the stairs were a bit hard to navigate through. easy excess to shopping, dining, enjoying the sites. Staff was friendly. Yes I agree hotel could be updated but it was very enjoyable. Room was quiet and comfortable. Great location. Service was good. Had to get ice from the front desk and there was no fridge, microwave or hairdryer in the room. Easy walk from the "L" as we came in via OHare. This is an older hotel that looks tired in spots. Our bed was very comfortable, good restaurant, Ditkas, next door. "Leaves something to be desired"
The hotel staff was nice enough, but not what I expected. I am hoping that we had the worst room in the hotel because I feel bad for every other person that stays there. Our window in our room gave us a great view of the air conditioner but nothing else. The shower didn't drain so I was standing in 2 inches of water the entire time. It was clean enough […] and didn't smell bad which was about the only plus. The location was great though and served our purpose. "Dark and Dingy Hotel Rooms :("
There are better hotel rooms for the money. The only thing this hotel still has going for it is location. Outside of that, the hotel room was outdated and there was paint peeling from the walls and ceiling. I'm sure this was a great hotel back in the day, but it's in sore need of a contemporary rehab to get my vote on a revisit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The elevator issue is a real problem. I am surprised it meets code. The hotel really need total redecorating. The heating did not work. So we left the thermostat on off, but it was cold.Genuine Expedia guest review
Place is in need of a major renovation. One tiny elevator has you doing a lot of waiting or spending a lot of time in the stairwell. Profile claims hotel has a "business center": This turns out to be a single computer opposite the front desk, monitor mounted to the wall, without a chair. All in all, not much bang for the buck.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very old property"
There was only one elevator. Even though the inside of it was newly remodeled, it was very small and not adequate for the size of the hotel. It was also used by staff (with large bins of dirty laundry) as well as guests. The room was OK, except that the closet was behind the bathroom door, the shower handle fell off in my hand, and I could barely operate […] the sink faucet. great - part of Westin Group so they have the most comfortable bedsTwo notices though : 1 - poor tv service in the rooms - do not even have CNN ; 2 - only one elevator so long wait for lift - suggest you get a lower floor room and walk down the stairs - I was on 5th floor and did this every day - not a big dealGenuine Hotels.com guest review
