"Great location, exceptional staff."
The desk staff and valet parkers were exceptional--very friendly and eager to assist in every way. We had a couple special requests, and they quickly--and happily--accommodated us.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Dreary hotel in excellent location!"
Traditional king sized room was large and poorly lit with money saving light bulbs, no coffee maker, no fridge, no shower cap but 2 free bottles of water every day! It was quiet on 7th floor. Starbucks across street and Archdiocese of Chicago.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Something more would have been nicer!"
No coffee pot in the roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Hotel, Good Price"
The lights turn on and off randomly at times, which is a bit bizarre. But it never happened at a bad time (like the middle of the night). Otherwise the rooms are extremely comfortable (if small) and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Attending conference, wanted slightly different hotel. Liked that it was smaller, and also part of SPG. Room slightly odd shape; missed not having hotel guide with information about nearby and in-hotel attractions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location was great. Close to Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, Gold Coast area. Pretty typical for many downtown hotels with smaller rooms and somewhat a little outdated (and walls are thin), but overall fine for our stay. I would stay here again on another visit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Chicago weekend get away."

Great location. One block from Water Tower and John Hancock building. Same building as Ditkas resturaunt. Great place!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"The best hotel I have ever been to"
It made chicago much more beautiful than it is ..being on the magnificent mile next to water tower abd john hancok is a big plus it is amazing to live in this elegant clean world ..beyond description...eGenuine Expedia guest review
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The hotel was clean but showing a bit of wear. The surrounding area was a bit noisy at night but it is close to everything downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for event at Mike Ditka's Restaurant"
Great locationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room light attached to the overhead fan kept coming on unexpectedly. even after it was shut off. Very annoying.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel at a good price in a great location"
The Standard King room we were in (5th floor) was small but not cramped. Staff was great. It's an older hotel that's been reasonably well maintained, but there are a few things could use a little cosmetic updating. I'd choose it again for my next trip Chicago without hesitation. One quibble: I found the policy of no in-room coffee maker a bit odd but […] one can go downstairs and get coffee. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Go elsewhere !"
Being on the Magnificent Mile has it's perks, you are in the heart of Chicago, and with that you are paying a pretty penny to stay there. This hotel falls short in everyway possible, from the dirty rooms , to lack of athletic rooms, to the overpriced breakfast. The bathroom tub didn't even drain!Genuine Expedia guest review
Stuff is nice, helpful. The hotel in a really good area near by everything you will visit in chi townGenuine Expedia guest review
"What I expected!!!"
A nice stay at an historic hotel. Although not a 5 start hotel, the staff really makes you feel like you are in one. Highly recommend the Tremont. MialnGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming hotel close to everything"
We spent 3 days at the hotel and it is one of the older establishment in the city, but all the attractions and shopsmakes up for the lack of amenity in the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place in the Windy City"
Everyone I met said Hello; never ignoredGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"We had a place to stay"
Nice bed and shower but rooms are tiny and lacking finishing touches of comparably priced hotels on the Mile. Wifi was poor quality. Originally had a suite in the next door building--avoid at all costs unless u love camp and weirdness. I went back and asked for something else--which I'd never done before at a hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Needs a face lift/great location"
The hotel is tired looking. Paint peeling on baseboards, wall paper peeling, no full length mirror in room. No paper or pen. Very basic. The location, however, is fantastic!!! And this is why I stayed there.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Historical Comfy and Gorgeous"
Incredible price for a stay in a wonderful location. We had read the complaints online about it being older, but we LOVED the oldness! Not to mention the history of the place. I would take that over some boring box-like sterile room any day. Front desk was great, bell boy helped us hail down a cab & helped with luggage more than once very graciously. […] The neighborhood (well business area anyway) is high end and easy walkable distance to so many places. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The Tremont is a nice hotel in a very convenient location. The hotel doesn't have too many facilities but everything is close by. The rooms are comfortable but a little old fashioned. I would stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect for the purpose!!"
My stay at the Tremont Chicago was fantastic. I was in town for a conference being held at one of the more expensive hotels and I needed a more affordable hotel still located near the conference hotel. The Tremont checked all of my necessary boxes - price, location (less than 1 mile from the conference hotel), comfort (nice, clean queen bed and room) […] and customer service (friendly, helpful staff). I highly recommend the Tremont as an affordable alternative to luxury Magnificent Mile hotels. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect location, excellent value."
We were looking for a nice spot to hang our hat while on vacation. Although we knew we would not be spending much time in our room, we wanted something nice and right on Michigan Avenue. The Tremont was perfect. If you are looking to save a few dollars without having to sacrifice location or charm, the Tremont is perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
The location was great. Super close to The John Hancock Building and The Magnificent Mile and easy to catch the CTA. The bed was so comfortable!Genuine Expedia guest review
Older building, well maintained. Close to the El. Continental breakfast for $9.99 next door at Ditka's but you can do better walking 2 blocks east to Tempo. Nice fluffy duvets but for some reason they put a blanket and top sheet underneath them. Defeats the point of the duvet, but at least you don't have that nasty bedspread that has God knows what […] on it! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel but a little old and somewhat rundown."
Staff were great, moved us after first night because we faced the noisy alley. Restaurant and bar were fabulous and excellent location downtown made it worth it!Genuine Expedia guest review
Location of hotel very good. Disappointing is up keep of hotel. Everything was clean but very dated and dark. Not enough lights in the room. Best part was location as one can walk to many places.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, not so great room"
We were in the suite building next door, and while the location was lovely, and the size of the room was good, it wasn't in very good condition and the bathroom was very subpar. I'm not sure what the main building is like, but I heard it was nicer. The lobby is gorgeous though and staff was courteous..and you can't beat the location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price value and great location"
The room and location were the best things to stay in this hotel. The room, 301 was cleaned thoroughly by a charming housekeeper. The beds and the pillows were excellent. The room needs some uplifting, a crack on the door frame leading to the parlor and paint on the air condition/heat exhaust grillGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice hotel, very helpful staff. Would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location but little bit of a shack..."
I see many hotels for business, so I know what to compare this to. This hotel fancy's a nice lobby, but the rooms are small - probably average for Chicago - but still very small. The bathroom sink is outside the shower room, the vent is louder than thunder, and you can't really close the door without hitting five things in its way. What bothered me […] most is that it was not updated at all, the bathroom sink door feel apart, the room seemed outdated, the iron and ironing board were two old broken pieces that hardly stood up. Just like the rest of the room so it felt. Overall, I don't recommend this hotel. They can do a better job of updating the rooms. But if you look for a quick stay and if this price beats the next, it's fine since the location is pretty nice for Chicago. ... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel - very convenient!"
We stated here to be I the city for a family wedding. I could not have been happier with the room and the location (Ditka's has a great breakfast). Only issue was lack of cabs. We will be back for a romantic weekend. Soon.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"AVERAGE AT BEST"
I feel like I am contradicting myself in my review, The hotel itself was very quaint, which perfectly suited my seven year old daughter for our weekend getaway! The shower was not as clean as I would have preffered. A little clorox cleanup would have done the job! Hint Hint. Also, the misreprensentationn of room service. There is no room servcie on […] site. You have to call a 1-800 number and it contacts local restaurants. Not good after a long day out in Chicago. Overall I enjoyed this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Really enjoyed the fact that this hotel was located just off of Michigan Ave. near the Water Tower Place. A Starbucks right across the street too. Staff friendly, clean rooms and comfortable bed. It is an older hotel, but kept up well. Would stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
The only thing this hotel has is location. The bathrooms are GROSS. The tiles were literally falling off the walls and I would have to put them back. You couldn't take a shower without it becoming a bath because the drains were clogged and they never did anything about it. It also looked as if there was mold on the ceiling of the shower area where the […] paint was peeling off. The furniture looked like it had been there since they originally opened their doors l. Which seemed to be in the 19th century. The elevators were the smallest I had ever seen and took forever. The only fridge around was on the forth floor right outside the elevator. It sat there the entire 4 days. Did they forget to put it away? Like I said before, the location is the only thing they have. You would think they would be smart enough to give it a bit of a face lift to make it more pleasant to the eyes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Avoid room 410!"
Booked through Expedia, and ended up only staying 2 out of the 4 nights. Saw that this specific room was also reviewed on Expedia (sadly, too late) and it not only is near the elevator, but is near the housekeeping closet, and captures every noise from the restaurant next store. I barely got a few hours sleep in two nights, as these variety of noises […] woke me up in addition to the lights going on and off at a whim. It felt like due to the rate at which I had purchased the room led me to be given this room versus another, which I did mention when I checked out. I did not asked to be moved during the stay, but did get assistance with the lights issue the morning after my first night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed in the Tremont Suites. It is a seperate building compared to the Tremont Hotel. I cannot comment on what the hotel rooms are like, but the suite rooms are an old apartment complex that was converted into a hotel. We have a baby and were looking for a hotel suite with a physical door to the bedroom that seperated it from the living room so […] we could put her down in the evening and still be able to hang together in the living room. So it met that requirement. But other than that, it left much to be desired. It looks like little to nothing was updated when Tremont acquired this property. It desperately needs a facelift, but the location is prime. So I think you truly get what you pay for. The price point and location were in line with the quality of the room. I think the price is right but it would be nice for the ameneties to be updated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty nice Hotel"
Pros: Location was good, comfortable beds, bathroom was really nice, rooms were clean, rooms were remodeled nicely, safe was in room, left bottles of water in the rooms, nice flat panel TV, temperature controlled in room, restaurant in hotel but very expensive, Friendly staff. Cons: Old building, no continental breakfast unless you pay for it, no swimming […] pool, no fitness room, no vending or ice on floors, Scary stairway that leads to kitchen, have to walk through a construction site to get the hotel lobby. "Great location, but showing age, wear, and tear."
You're paying for the location at this place - half a block to the Hancock, two blocks to the red line. Staff was courteous and responsive, but there are no amenities to speak of. Nothing was falling apart, per se, but everything just looked old and getting close to needing replacement. We had a standard queen room and it was tiny. While the bed and […] headboard were nice, the hardwood furniture was old and in rough condition. There isn't good insulation so we could here all the hallway traffic and doors opening and closing. We could never seem to get the room to a cool temperature (came for a summer trip), but it wasn't uncomfortably warm in the room. Bathroom was clean and looked well maintained. Not many electricity plugs, so good luck charging more than two devices at a time. If you aren't going to spend a lot of time in you're room and don't care about space, luxuries, or amenities, this place is the best value in the city - the Tremont was the cheapest place near downtown or Gold Coast by $50 a night. "Don't risk it."
After booking this hotel with Expedia, we arrived to check in a very old hotel with lots of charm and character. The valet was kind, the lobby was pretty. But, when we checked in the host said, "I'm sorry, we're all full. We have to move you to our apartment suites in the building next door. Sorry." He wasn't sorry. But he really should've been. The […] apartment suites were disgusting. Old, smelled bad, outdated furniture, extremely small tv. The street view was blocked by delivery trucks and garbage cans. The one king size bed was replaced with two queen size ones... quite the awkward surprise for my wife and I. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I was in Chicago with my daughter for a girls only weekend. The staff was very helpful giving us directions around town. We were a block away from American Girl and John Hancock Center. I wish there was a small fridge in the room for snacks. Kids get hungry at random times and a fridge would have really helped. Loved the convenience of the Tremont! […] Plus, Ditka's is right there!
