"My Stay at the Tremont"
Personally, I loved the Tremont. It is an older hotel, but it is adorable and makes you feel like home. I loved that it was low key, but in walking distance of shopping and dining.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very comfortable hotel in a great location. Since it is an older hotel, the rooms are a bit on the small side, but the lobby/waiting area is a stately, 2 to 3 story wood paneled beautiful room with a large fireplace. Would clearly stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pretty much first class, for an old classic type.."
You know, this room, on the 12th floor, had more 110v outlets, than all of the second floor study of U of Wisconsin College library. Nice quality materials, and components. Compact but comfortable, Ditka's restaurant was pricey, but very good food.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Tiny without a view"
Room was a tiny little matchbox, and a view of a roof and some exhaust pipe. But the location was great. The room was clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fantastic location but........"
The Tremont is steps away from the Magnificent Mile. Great restaurant connected to hotel. A Starbucks conveniently located across the street. Friendly, helpful staff. Rooms comfortable and attractive. Can't understand why owners have not put any money into this building. With a facelift this would be a wonderful boutique hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Tremont Chicago Hotel at Magnificent Mile Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel. We are currently in the process of making updates throughout the hotel. We are installing carpet within all of the guest rooms and cooridors. We are also in the process of modernizing the elevators. The guest elevator will be completed at the end of February. We hope to see you again. Warm Regards, Christine Wechter General Manager .
The rooms are extra small, it took 15 mins for the warm water to kick in so I could take a shower, the closet was IN the bathroom, the water in the tub did NOT go down until the following day and there was only one working elevator and it was is super small and felt like it was about to break. NEVER AGAIN.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Low cost room in a great area. Hotel under repair and renovation so decor was a bit shabby. Great value when you're not planning on spending a lot of time in your room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Dreadful, so don't stay unless you don't mind crumbling filth"
This hotel was rated well on Expedia, but should have been 1 1/2 stars. The windows were frozen, and had a draft coming from them. The floor was dirty. The bathtub did not drain and also had a huge rust stain by the faucet. They claim to have remodeled 2 years ago, but they only seemed to have added a headboard and a newer television? I opened the closet […] (which I could barely open) and the drywall was crumbling away. The elevator wasn't working so had to use the service elevator, which was disgusting. If I had known it was going to be like a dumpy Super 8 , then it wouldn't have been so bad. BUT this hotel was rated as better, described as better, and photographed as better. Don't be deceived. If you simply want location, then staying would be fine. This is all the hotel had to offer Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy Hotel in Great Location"
First time at the Tremont; I've patronized other boutique hotels in the area. While the property shows its age, I found the ambiance to be along the lines of lodging at a vintage New England athletic club. The lobby area is dark wood with a large fireplace and comfortable chairs. Ditka's restaurant adjoins the facility which is convenient for coffee/continental […] breadfast. Ironically when I asked the front desk if they could recommend a good steak house, Ditka's wasn't mentioned (nor was Gibsons). Odd. The room was a decent size for a boutique property and quiet, the bed was comfortable and the bath was modernized. This is a prime location easily walkable from the Chicago Red Line, right off Michigan Ave and close to the "viagra" Triangle. Would definitely book again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel for the price and close to everything"
The hotel was charming and accommodating for the age of the building. The elevators were still not in very good working order but the stairs didn't hurt us. The valet parking is pretty pricey but comparable to other hotels in the area and a bit confusing or not very user friendly at first (not labeled well). Didtka's restaurant was very nice and accessible […] from the hotel. Over all a nice place to stay downtown. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice boutique hotel; outstanding location for Gold Coast shopping and price was great for December holiday weekend! Elevator renovation created a few delays but all manageable. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Tremont has trouble"
The staff was excellent. The hotel lobby has charm. Room was small, dated but clean. The ceiling fan light would mysteriously turn itself on. Maybe it was haunted. The location was great- a block away from Michigan Ave and Water Tower Place. The free morning buffet wasn't free and had $19 added to my bill.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This place is terrible. They should close it until the renovation is done, if they are doing one. No deal is worth it. Great location and nice staff, but the hotel is an absolute pit.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Close to everything you could possibly want. The room had a small kitchen, a super comfortable bed, and plenty of storage for your clothes. The only downside is it's a little chilly in the room. The floors are cold and it's really cool near the window. However, there's an extra blanket and if you keep the curtains closed it's not so bad.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Quaint boutique hotel"
We stayed in the branch of the hotel that was across the alley and meant for longer-stay guests, which used to be old apartments that have been turned into hotel rooms. The positive aspect of this is that there is a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, stove, etc., which is not available in the other part of the hotel, and the building is very […] quiet. The drawback is that the building is quite old, with non-ideal insulation. Overall, was happy with the stay and with the staff friendliness. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Hotel was well located. Room was ok but very sparse. Small elevator. My mother had the adjoining room and her shower did not drain. For the price I expected more. You are paying for the location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Right in the heart of North Michigan Ave"
It was very nice. I've stayed at a lot of downtown hotels and I really liked the customer service and warmth of the staff at the Tremont. I will stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location and very comfortable bed, though no coffee maker in room. Left my phone charger in my room - after repeated calls, no return call to say it was found or not found.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
A smaller hotel just off Michigan Avenue near the Water tower, its a great location. The hotel has a nice small lobby area, and the rooms are very nice. Great restaurant right off the lobby, the famous Mike Ditkas.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place to stay for the price"
I had an enjoyable time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Quiet hotel. Nothing fancy. A little worn in some areas. Very convenient location. If you are looking for amenities this is NOT a place for you. If you simply need a place to hang your head this is perfect.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location to Michigan Avenue shopping!"
If you are coming to Chicago to shop and dine you can't beat the location, but this hotel has seen better days. You are greeted by a very worn looking front desk. There were no flowers in the lobby and it was sparsely furnished. The elevator (there is only one and it is very small) had worn and dirty carpeting and wood paneled walls. There were no bedside […] lamps in our room (one king bed). The bed was comfortable and clean but the towels were thin and cheap feeling. The toiletries were sparse. The room needs to painted and redecorated. I was very disappointed and could not believe Starwood hasn't remodeled this hotel given the great location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cozy place in great location"
We spent 3 lovely nights in Tremont. Not too fancy but clean and in great location. Recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
Location was key for this trip, and the Tremont was right in the middle of the Magnificent Mile, Rush St, and plenty of places to shop, eat, and sightsee, including the Hancock building, and the water tower. Everything was under 5 minute walk. Hotel, service was great and the staff were very friendly. It seems like the only parts of the building that […] hadn't been updated were the elevators, which take forever, and the door to our room, which was a bit, ancient. Other than that, definitely an enjoyable visit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Is older building. fans in rooms are loud. elevators extremely slow. always a musty smell in hallways especially near entrance to the rooms. good location. pleasent desk clerks. probably best in area for the price. fitness center only with treadmills. stay often but when father passed and couldnt make it they would not allow me to use for a different […] stay despite that i stay every 6-8 weeks regularly. "Great location, decent price!"
A friend from Dallas came to Chicago on her first trip up here and loved our location. We were literally right next to everything she wanted to do. We had great service at the front desk and they always had a cab ready for us. They were so friendly and we loved it! I gave the hotel condition a 3 because the elevator was broken most of our stay and you […] can tell it's old when you get up to the rooms but other than that, it was a great stay! "Nice hotel, but smaller than I expected"
I was recently in Chicago for my 28th birthday and wanted to be close enough to still be in walking distance of all the shops and resturants. The Tremont was close and I enjoyed my stay. My only issues were the size of the room, the time it took for someone to bring me clean towels and the clogged up drain in the shower. The room was clean and everyone […] seemed really nice. I'd reccomend this hotel if your coming to visit. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Other reviewers made comments about the rooms being small. We tried anyway and didn't find that a problem. You have to remember you are staying in an old hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for what I needed"
I stayed here because of its proximity to the Broadway Playhouse. Overall I enjoyed my stay, how ever the larger elevator went out of order during my stay and no signage was put up until MANY hours later.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, Spartan facilities"
We stayed at this property about eight years ago, and it appears that nothing has been done to improve it since. The rooms contain all the right furniture, but none of it matches. The bed and bathroom were more than adequate and made the stay. The inadequate one elevator for a 15-story property was inoperative for one of the four days of our stay. We […] used the service elevator or the stairs. The stairwell was poorly maintained and not clean. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A wonderful stay in a wonderful hotel."
My son was getting married and I was post surgery. I need a warm comfortable, convenient hotel. The Tremont completely fit the bill in every way. Most of all the staff is outstanding. I use a cane and they helped me out quite a bit. The lovely lady who cleans the hotel carpets and your lobby area is my favorite. She knew the city and gave us good pointers. […] It was a lovely stay in every way. When we visit our son, we will check back in to The Tremont to be sure. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Boutique Hotel Needs Facelift & TLC"
The hotel is well situated but needs management to pay attention to the condition of the interior. The photo's online are much nicer than in actuality. The only redeeming features for me were the comfort of the bed/pillows and cleanliness of the room. I didn't, however, feel comfortable taking a bath...which is one thing I look forward to when I travel. […] I would highly advise on the following: A fresh coat of paint would make a world of difference. Replacing the old worn out lampshades (some with pen marks on them). Changing the blinds (they were dirty). Put a full length mirror somewhere. With some money invested in a little modernization, this hotel could be a star. As it stands it's a diamond in the "very" rough. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Valet wayy too expensive for $61 a night.. Really?? Breakfast that was offered you had to eat it there you couldnt take it with you which was inconvenient. "Charming older hotel"
This is an old building, the room was a little weirdly shaped with some nooks and crannies, and there was only 1 elevator and it was small and slow. "Nice small friendly hotel close to Michigan Ave."
Enjoyable overnight stay close to many attractions. Very friendly, polite, accommodating staff.Genuine Expedia guest review
This hotel was perfectly clean and comfortable. The room was small but I wasn't planning on spending much time in the room so that didn't bother me. The bed and pillows were really comfortable and the shower was nice. Only complaint was that a lot of the tv channels didn't really work (only got about 7 total), but if you're only watching a little tv […] before bed it's no big deal. The hotel is so conveniently located, really nice neighborhood with plenty of food, coffee, shops, etc. all within a short walk (sometimes just down the street!) We were able to stop by the room to drop something off or change clothes in between activities because it was so perfectly located. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room, this might not be the choice for you, but it was a great place to call home base and really comfortable at night.
