"Cozy Room, Cute Town, Excellent Scenary"
The hotel has a great lounge area with comfy seating, good service, entertaining live music, and decent bar-type food (though it closed about an hour earlier than was posted on the door). Our room was slightly larger than usual, and we enjoyed the fireplace. Free breakfast in the morning was also a pleasant surprise (much better than the ordinary continental […] breakfast). The gardens and surrounding trails were also great for a morning walk before heading down to the quaint and unique town (great shops and food spots). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great place to stay in Cambria. The grounds are very large with walking paths that weave around beautiful gardens. The breakfast was very nice, and the rooms were perfectly nice. Hotel staff were very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful Gardens with so-so Rooms"
The public areas of the resort are very nice. The breakfast is great. The rooms are a bit dated. And the walls and floors are very thin. We were awakened each morning as the toddler above ran back and forth at 6:00 am. Still, overall, the resort was very nice and well worth the price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
One of the best rooms I have seen anywhere, especially in Cambria. Not inexpensive but I feel the Lodge tries to do a good job in every aspect of your stay. Having breakfast available is very accomodating. Ability to park close to the room was especially appreciated. Will stay there again I'm sure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

VERY HAPPY WITH OUR STAY AND WILL RETURN TO THIS RETREAT. GREAT FOR KIDS. JUST WISHED THERE WERE MOVIES OR A DVD PLAYER.Genuine Expedia guest review
Glorified Motel. Rooms are very outdated. Pics on Hotel.com do not even come close to representing the actual rms. Overpriced. Lobby/Grounds are nice but their rooms leave you expecting more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A great Getaway for some peaceful R&R"
The California Coast in the San Luis Obispo county has nice R&R stopovers. We look forward to leaving L.A. for some pleasant getaways. Traffic going north is better on a Sunday. We stopped in Morrow Bay for our favorite lunch (Dorns); then to the CAMBRIA pines-by-the-sea. This historical lodge is in the best part of town, on the hill-crest, and among […] lovely pines. Check-in is quick. Our room was pleasant and comfortable, with a fireplace (clean-burning fire-log). Best is the peace and quiet! Cars do not crank up at 6 AM, 'cause all go to the complementary breakfast! Cars only start up after 9AM. You can stroll around acres of beautiful gardens, visit the nursery across the street, drive further to the shores, or check out the many shops and eateries in town. Can visit San Simeon (Hearst Castle), or south to Harmony and the vineyards of Paso Robles, etc. Morro Bay is always a must to revisit on the way back. We have been visiting Cambria Pines Lodge since the '70s. And it always is a pleasant place to stay :) :) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Long Weekend in Cambria"
This was the first time visiting Cambria for my wife and I. The three star rating worried me slightly, but for the small town, this lodge was a fantastic place to stay. We really appreciated being able to walk down the steep steps from the hotel and be at the start of the East side town (one of the sides, forget which one was which). The hotel / lodge […] had live music and a wood burning fireplace for all to enjoy. The room was large and detached. The high ceilings and dual fireplaces were nice touches. "Get away with our dog!"
Perhaps a water bowl for the dog since a fee is charged...cookie and ball is nice but not having to use ice bucket for dog water would just be nice! Had to clean patio from previous dog....... Dog play area is a nice benefit!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very relaxing stay in a beautiful setting among the pine trees. We enjoyed the gardens and all the landscaping.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable and convenient."
Ate dinner at the hotel, food was good. Breakfast was average.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything in the room are outdated. E.g., drawers are dirty with saw dust & are broken, bathroom fan is extremely loud, TV is old with bad reception, & shower temperature is difficult to adjust. However, complimentary continental breakfast was good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel away from the beach"
Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Cambria and the crowds, but only a few minutes drive time if you want it. Excellent restaurant on the property. Breakfast buffet included with your stay. Tucked into the woods, quiet.Genuine Expedia guest review
This was a nice hotel. The grounds are very nice with a great breakfast. But the room could use some updating. The TV was small and an old tube type. The bath room had cracks on the walls and the tub.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was told that there are three buildings left to upgrade so by the time you stay there the worn look will be gone. Shower was difficult and not satisfying, hopefully fixed in the upgrade. The pool and hot tub were tops with us. The rooms were spacious. Free breakfast was better than the standard chain free breakfast with home made salsa and yummy home […] fries in addition to the usual scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, yogurt, muffins, pancakes/biscuits and gravy, coffee (good for hotel), OJ and maybe more. Anyway, it's a sweet place to stay. We just were not enamored with Cambria itself. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed only one night. There were a couple of tour buses in the parking lot. It seemed like they all came to breakfast when we did. The staff handled the crowd amazingly well. Congestion dispersed very quickly. The hotel certainly deserves the three star rating. Would recommend and stay there again. We are traveling with a pet which often means a lessor […] quality room. "Very comfy and personable hotel and staff"
Love this place! So comfy and eco-friendly! The staff is so personable. Happy hour in the bar is always fun...great salsa!!! Convenient location. My "go to" spot in CambriaGenuine Expedia guest review
What a great place to stay! We really enjoyed our time here. Beautiful grounds open to wildlife; lots of birds and even deer. And Smoky, the cat, too! The restaurant served tasty food (a little pricy but worth it) and the staff were all very accommodating. We will be back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, quiet, convenient location"
Stayed two nights during a visit to Cambria and Hearst Castle. Friendly staff; clean room with crisp white linens; quiet location. The grounds and buildings could use a little more TLC, but the various mini-gardens make for an interesting evening stroll. Breakfast is substantive and very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely spot, right price"
This lodge is tucked away above the town of Cambria. It has a woodsy feel and the craftsman style buildings are a good fit. We spent one night there on our way to Hearst Castle and it worked out perfectly. It was a 20 minute drive to the Castle. The staff are friendly and helpful and the complimentary breakfast was the best I have had in a hotel. We […] ate dinner there the night before and enjoyed it thoroughly. The only critique we had was a few light bulbs out which is very minor but annoying. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Charming - wish we had more time to enjoy"
Very charming location and facilities. Staff very efficient and welcoming! Our room was huge with 2 fireplaces, bedroom and living room. Gardens and lodge were lovely! Our only issue was that it really didn't work for 6 adults...bathroom sink was actually in the bedroom so awkward for people sleeping in the living room to use. The murphy bed was great, […] but the sofa bed had no support and one couple was unable to sleep....might work for kids. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
After a delayed check in person in line told us "oh they put you down there..You will not be happy" well we were not... they were still cleaning the rooms when we got there...room had funky smell.. that later turned into moldy smell...room was worn..mismatched painted furniture... old tube TV with fuzzy reception..nice little patio with dirty chairs […] and covered in leaves and pine needles. Nice new pool area......right next to old pool area that burnt down several years ago and still standing all boarded up.Just not at all what we expected for the price. "We enjoyed our stay"
It was our first stay and we enjoyed it. Cambria Pines Lodge is a nice, out of the way, quiet property with a good bar and resturant.A good location for seeing the local sights in the day up or down the coast or on the beach. We would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Feels like a resort!"
From the pictures available, I assumed the room we would get was going to be a small, typical hotel room... I was so wrong! I opted to get a two queen room with a fireplace, first off, the bedroom was HUGE and the room we got was actually a suite, the fireplace was in a separate sitting room. It felt more like an apartment than a boxy hotel room -- […] so it felt like a comfortable get away straight off. It is in a woodland/garden setting which adds to the relaxing environment, but there were so many windows to let in the natural light that you didn't feel trapped at all. The window in the bedroom gave a wonderful view of the mountains and the garden outside so it seemed so private. They give you a great sense of rustic charm, but take great pains in keeping the grounds clean. The only two things I had complaints about were the shower (the water pressure left something to be desired, but you can't ask for too much given they're in a drought right now), and that you could hear every step of the person in the room above us (and some occassional coughing). Other than that, it was perfect. They have complimentary breakfast in the morning, which was an actual breakfast and not just bread, it's buffet style eggs, sausage, potatoes, fruit, biscuits, bread, juices etc. It's worth the extra money to stay here and I would chose this again over even a hotel with a beach or bay view -- you're close enough anyway, and it feels more secluded! "Beautiful and relaxing!"
We loved everything about the hotel and grounds. The park setting was very relaxing and our rooms were comfortable and nostalgic. Our teenager loved the Murphy bed. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed being able to eat in the garden. Can't complain about anything.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good except with a few minor things."
Service was great and the rooms were nice. Surrounding area is beautiful. Pool, Jacuzzi, and Fireside Lounge are nice amenities. Minor things to note: a couple of the lights in the bathroom weren't working, and the food at breakfast was delicious but very limited in selection. First place that I have stayed that offered sausage but no bacon. But again...minor […] details. Overall good place, but at $200/night...one would have higher expectations. "Beautiful rustic rooms."
What beautiful grounds. Very large room with beautiful view and fireplace. Truly felt like we were away in the mountains staying in a cabin in a remote area. Good complimentary free breakfast and nice waiters. Will definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very mixed feelings"
We were checked into a room which we thought was fine. However, when the people in the room below us turned on their bathroom fan, our whole floor started vibrating like someone was using a hammer drill below us and it got very noisy. The hotel eventually moved us to another room which was much better, and we realized that the initial room had many […] little things wrong, like no bag in the ice bucket. That kind of inconsistant thing. We paid extra for the fireplace, but you can't really see it when you are in bed, and there is no room to sit around the fireplace, so that was a waste. The people who checked in before us without a reservation were offered a discount which made their room (king bed and fireplace) $20 cheaper than ours (two queens and fireplace), but when we tried for the same thing, we were unsuccessful. "Lodge in garden setting"
The non-motel feel of this lodge gave us a sense of relaxation and really being on vacation. The setting among trees and away from busy roads made it a get-away destination. We enjoyed the lounge with folk singer the evening we arrived, and we loved the generous breakfast in the sun-lit dining area the next morning. The garden rooms outside the main […] lodge were so pleasant and inspiring that we strolled through them twice, enjoying their variety and creativity. Even though the lodge is in a natural setting, a short steep walk leads to the sweet town of Cambria below. Both the town and the lodge are destinations we'd love to return to. "In the woods"
Very much enjoyed our stay at the lodge. We booked through hotels.com and unfortunately the room we were given was in a dorm like setting. The room was tired in need of updating. We upgraded to a cabin and were thrilled that we made the change. Next time I will book the cabin. The buffet breakfast was fair but it nice not to have to leave the property […] until check out. "Old Rooms Noisy Kids and squatters"
Arrived to find a squatter in our room, Hotel staff moved us to another equivalent room that had a demon child above us that would jump around from 7AM on. Hotel rooms sounded like they were going to fall apart with creaking etc. Garden was nice and free breakfast was ok. Would not return.Genuine Expedia guest review
I arrived at this hotel at 8:00 pm. it give me a exciting experience for this hotel. the environments is amazing. The restaurant is available until 8 pm. Very quiet. Its room is clean. The breakfast is not very good but accepted I hope to have this hotel again.Genuine Expedia guest review
We spent one night at the Cambria Pines. The grounds are very nice and the full breakfast was good. We had a suite which worked well for us for privacy and different wake-up times. The rooms need updating. The carpet was worn brown and did not feel like there was any padding underneath. We were on the first floor and though I am sure the upstairs guests […] were not, it sounded like a herd of elephants stomping over our heads. There is a mini-frig in the room, which is great for keeping refreshments in the room. Between the frig and the wall, there were cobwebs and spiders, so it had not been cleaned in some time, yuck! The pool and spa were nice and appeared maintained. We did not take the path to town, it is a hike so be prepared for a workout if you choose to walk down (and up). We did spend part of the evening in the lounge and the atmosphere was nice, big fireplace and a lodge feel. The poor waitress did a great job handling the tables solo. Overall, without updating, the rate should be less (we paid $249) or do some updating for that price. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Cambria Pines Lodge is a wonderful place with lovely gardens, walking trail, and restaurant on site. We good advantage of the walk, dog park, and gardens but did not use the pool or on site restaurant. (Dog fee is reasonable.) There is a trail to downtown Cambria but it was too dark for us to use. Minor complaint, the small bathroom window could […] not be closed but it was very warm during our visit in late December, so we didn't mind. :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Dirty and dated"
This hotel was just dirty, the carpet, the windows the furniture etc. The windows had cracks in them and the wall paint was dingy and it doesn't look like they've painted the place in years. Plus very limited lighting in the living room, maybe they hope you can't see how dirty the place is. The place just needed some major upkeep. The hotel did do somethings […] right, they give you plenty of towels, the free breakfast was great, the grounds were nice and the staff was very accommodating. Overall I could never recommend this hotel due to its condition. We stayed at the Fog Catcher hotel just a mile up the road and the Fog Catcher was outstanding. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

While checking in, others registrants were given coupons for local eateries. We were not offered these coupons. Our room smelled dank and musty. Restaurant on the property served me a medium rare steak when I ordered it medium well. The steak for this particular menu item changed from ribeye to sirloin within a five year time period and the price was […] not reduced for serving a lesser cut of beef. The steak may have been enjoyable had it been cooked properly and rested so as not to bleed into my mashed potatoes. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
