"Most helpful staff"
Best thing I can say is that I'd stay again & recommend it to others.Worst thing is that it has no views & is a bit dark.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Davenport is a fine old hotel one block form Merrion Square and the back gate of Trinity, a better location would be hard to find! We spent 4 nights and were generally pleased until our last evening when the plumbing in that bathroom made terrible banging and sucking sounds. When we arrived back after midnight the room stunk of sewer gases, but […] being late, we did not want to change rooms so we remained. At 7:30 the next morning we were awakened to the banging and horrific smell, a very unpleasant way to start the day! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The staff was great, and the hotel was nice. I will stay there again without a doubt.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, Friendly!"
Perfect location, very friendly/helpful staff. Rooms nice, decent size and clean. Best thing: helpful, friendly staff. If wifi had been free, it would have been perfect!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location, lovely breakfast, very accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Overview of Dublin"
The Davenport Hotel in Dublin exceeded our expectations: it was very well-located at Merrion Square, a 10 or 15 minute walk to virtually everything; the building itself was spectacular (it was a former church); front desk service was exceedingly helpful and accommodating; the room was enormous by European standards and very well cleaned; the bathroom […] was updated, with modern amenities. This four star hotel served as a perfect base for a six njight trip to Dublin. Well-recomended! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to everything"
Good service, good price and within walking distance to many attractions!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of the hotel was good, but still had to walk a ways to get to certain areas. It is a beautiful hotel. One complaint of the hotel is that it didn't offer free wifii with your stay (which I found pricey). Had to pay for your own parking even though the hotel chain owned the parking garage and they had no washcloths for you to bath with.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Well Worth the Money"
OK, it's not the Merrion, but for the price they charge, the are conveniently located in the City Center, near everything, with a perfectly fine restaurant and bar. For business or pleasure I would recommmend the Davenport for anyone who is budget conscious, not spending a lot of time in their room and wanting a decent place to stay!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could be Grand!"
Grand old hotel could be so much better. It's a lot of little details that could use attention. The first room we were in had a broken hair dryer and a very noisy pub across the street. The second room was fine, but again the end of the blow dryer kept falling off the hose and the room safe didn't work. The rooms also don't have mini-bars: not a big […] deal but disappointing. The whole hotel, although very clean, could use some sprucing up to make it a really grand hotel worthy of 4 stars. The staff is 5 star. If the previous details I mentioned were changed, I would give this a 5 star. The location is perfect and every one was so attentive and pleasant. I would definitely go back there the next time I'm in Dublin. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"right in the centre"
It has been very convenient, very comfortable and very close to anything in the city centre. Room very spacious, very clean, bar and restaurant services good and good price too. the only thing I was a bit disapointed about is that we were placed in the first floor right in front of the entrance of a local pub and we were travelling with a 2 year old […] and the beggining of our early night was a bit noisy. The staff helpfull and nice.I would have thought for the price we would get breakfast and free wifi too though and that is another handycap but still... overall I will definitely repeat next time if possible. Very goodGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Davenport is a nice location close to museum and Trinity. 10 minute walk to the Temple Bar area as well. My room was the Jr Suite - very large and updated, comfy bed, and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable Hotel in a good location"
There was some 'old world' charm with nice wood doors and other warm features. Easy walking to pubs and shopping. Nice staff. I would stay there again. There was a pub directly across from our window and it was noisy late into the night, however, earplugs took care of that problem.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Location, Good Price & Clean"
This a good hotel to stay at. It is reasonably located, only a few blocks from the Book of Kells and Grafton Street. I spent my trip sightseeing Dublin and Ireland so my time in the hotel was limited, but the room was clean (yes, everyday), the hotel itself was clean and the staff were friendly. I don't want to rave too much because, honestly I only […] spent a few hours a night in my room - after all - it is Dublin - get out! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Disappointing and over-priced."
Ok hotel, but was very overpriced. I had reserved a junior suite but did not see the difference from a more basic room. My room was clean and serviceable but nothing outstanding. I am not really a picky traveler, as I spend very little time in the hotels other than for showering and sleeping. But this was quite a disappointment overall. Furniture is […] outdated and worn. I sent an email to the hotel 2 weeks before my stay with a couple of questions and never received a response. I recieved terrible service at the restaurant and the pub. Again, I'm not demanding but at the end of a long day it gets annoying waiting 45 min. for a check I requested several times when there were only 3 other tables occupied. The hotel also charges for wi-fi and for tv channels outside of the 4 free channels provided. Also was charged for calls made with a calling card, something like $.38 a minute on top of calling card fees. The so-called cashmere blanket is just a scarf across the end of the bed, so I was always cold during the night as the thermostat did not seem to function at all. I had to use my wool coat over the sheets to warm up at night. The coffee maker was really just a carafe to heat water and I was given a supply of instant coffee packets, but they were always decaf so I had to go out and spend 3 euro every morning in cafes just to get a cup of coffee. I would not recommend this hotel for the prices charged, you can find much nicer accomodations in same area for a lot less. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
""Great value and location.""
Excellent hotel for the value and location. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean and well appointed.Genuine Expedia guest review
I enjoyed my stay very much. Only comment or suggestion to improve is to have FedEx or UPS service for guests who want to ship some things home. They sent my box via US Post - but I have no tracking information, and don't know when it will arrive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for business or pleasure"
We stayed in the hotel for a week while on business in Dublin; my husband and I were travelling together, and found it to be a good hotel if one were on vacation as well. The staff were fantastic, the room was very comfortable. The location was quite good for the variety of places we needed to be--about 20 minute walk to convention center, right near […] Trinity College, easy walk to Temple Bar. "CLOSE TO EVERYTHING IN DUBLIN"
Parking is awkward, staff is nice. Did NOT eat there, so don't know anything about it. Room clean, comfortable, very well located. Moved to Davenport at the last minute from a much pricier B&B and SO glad we did.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location was great and the rooms were were very clean. However, the staff was incompetent, churlish and seemed to go out their way to give faulty info to guests. Plus, everything was extra! Wifi, an extra free; television and movies etc.was an extra fee (listed as a communication fee), parking was an extra fee and breakfast was not included in the […] daily rate.. We found just the opposite in all of the other hotels we in which we stayed. The front desk consistently gave us (as well as many other guests) incorrect and confusing directions to popular destinations. In the breakfast buffet (11.(5 Euro) the chafing dishes were never refilled until the last bit of food gone. After cleaning our room, the maid consistently left the door ajar. All of these items are listed on their web page as available....but I thought they were available at no extra charge. It is a great location. If you decide to stay at this hotel,t bring extra money and don't count on the staff for any helpful assistance. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel Near Trinity College Dublin"
Better than the nearby sister property O'Callaghan Alexander. The Alexander is just one notch below this, it was perfectly clean and the staff was great but the enamel in the tub was chipped and there was a cigarette (?) stain on the carpet. The Davenport is much more elegant and was immaculate in every detail.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was everything that I needed to be! The front desk and management was excellent help. I would not hesitate to stay here again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Other reviewers mentioned noise from the local pubs. I noticed it also but when I closed my window, I could no longer hear the street noise.Genuine Expedia guest review
"O'Callaghan Davenport - Dublin"
O'Callaghan Davenport - Dublin, 25 minutes from aiport. Staff was extremely helpful. Location within a 5 minute walk to Grafton St. shopping, Book of Kell's and many museums. Family research locations are within a bus trip or walking distance. Taxi and hop-on hop-off buses just feet from the hotel for ease in getting about the city. Hotel has a full […] Irish breakfast which was good but got boring after a while it would have been good to have other options available. We did not eat dinner at the hotel so I am unable to rate. The room was a bit too warm, easily remedied by opening a window and would not be considered a detraction. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great stay over the long Christmas break, the staff was wonderfully accomodating to all our needs and questions. Great location for exploring Dublin, all around great hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice place in Merrion Square, old ... but most hotels are in this area. Good service, you have to pay for internet though.Genuine Expedia guest review
We really enjoyed our stay at the O'Callaghan Davenport. It is conveniently located within walking distance to Trinity College and the bus stops. The hotel itself is very nicely decorated. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was that the dining room was understaffed and the wait was slow. Although […] my daughter really enjoyed her irish stew, my husband and I were unimpressed with our selections from the menu. No worries there because there are plenty of restaurant options within walking distance. We would definitely return to this hotel in the future and recommend it to friends and family. "Nice old hotel"
Nice old hotel near Grafton St in Dublin. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the old style of the hotel. A couple of minor issues, including rubbish left in our room from the previous occupants, phone not working and very hot room.. However, minor issues and all ok. Breakfast was good and service also good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel that is centrally located"
The staff was very helpful. They were always friendly and kind. The hotel itself is a beautiful building. I feel the interior basics need and update, but was very clean. The restaurant was convenient, but not of high quality. 13.5 euros was ridiculous for the type of breakfast buffet it was. We just chose to eat out mor which was really lovely. It is […] definitely worth the stay. We enjoyed our night caps after a long day in the restaurant. The staff truly was worth their weight in gold!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"quality hotel in great location"
We arrived early in the morning and were told a room was ready and we could check in which was a great start to our stay as it gave us the chance to get on with seeing the sights of Dublin straight away.In the four days we stayed here any request we made to the staff was dealt with very courteously and we were made to feel very welcome by all. This […] was our first visit to Dublin and we are already planning our next one as we had a wonderfull time both taking in the usual attractions such as the Guiness storehouse,Dublin Castle and Galleries and enjoying the excellent night life. Our favourite bars were The Old Storehouse in Temple Bar for its food and live music in a great atmosphere and the Vathouse also in Temple Bar. A particular favourite was the Bank at College Green which is a very elegant venue for a night out cant wait to return. Our best experiences for dining out were Dax on Pembroke Street for fine dining which was a bit pricey but lovely food and service for that special occasion and the Larder on Parliament Street for fantastic steak and good early bird deal. "Good central hotel close to tourist attractions"
Warm welcome on arrival and reception staff were uniformly helpful. Bedrooms are spacious and beds very comfortable. Lobby-bar-restaurant merge into each other but there is a nice ambience. Often very busy with non-resident guests. Sad to see that the main dining room is no longer open for dinner. Menu in the bar-restaurant is a bit limited. Prices […] are moderate to high. Overall, the decor is beginning to look a little aged. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice to have a King Size bed but..."
It was our first night in Dublin. We arrived early and it was very nice for them to let us check in early. The king size bed was a bonus in Europe. Room was clean. Old and stuffy though. The wifi is free for one consecutive hour and then it's 2€ for 2 hrs. I had a hard time connecting and the hotel staff at the front was very abrupt and rude. I gave […] up. I was still charged. It was challenging not having Internet in a city you just got to. I asked for directions and it seemed like a bother. When we were leaving we had to pay for breakfast. Their system was down so he took my card & rushed us out. Breakfast was 14€. It was good. Location: out of the city centre (temple bar) but still a close walk to Trinity College. If you want a relaxing experience it was a nice enough place. For our first night in Dublin, I didn't feel welcomed. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Unfortunately we coincided with building work which didn't give us the peaceful mid afternoon break back in the hotel we had planned or the gentle awakenings in the morning.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel, should have wifi"
Great hotel, within walking distance of all the city's main attractions. However, there is only 1h of wifi per room (not even cumulative throughout the day). For the expense of the room and the quality of the hotel, why aggravate customers with a petty wifi limit and fee?Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to the City Center"
This hotel is a short 10-15minute stroll from the Town centre so ideally located for the shops & bars of Dawson St, Grafton St, Temple Bar and O'Connell street. Rooms are very hot with quite ineffectual air conditioning. I always find breakfast to be the worse part of any hotel and it was the same here: the coffee was weak & tastless, sausages were […] tasteless pulp and I didn't even try the dried out scrambled eggs.
