"Pricey and outdated"
This hotel was too expensive for the outdated room and uncontrollable thermostat. However, it was close to a bus route and very convenient. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. Save yourself a few Euro and go to a local pub or restaurant. Your wallet and stomach will thank you. Also, all the employees seemed to be foreign, so if you're looking for a genuine Irish experience, you won't find it here.

Unfortunately, the person I spoke with to book the hotel reserved the room for December 8th. and 9th and not 9th. and 10th.as requested. The hotel were very accommodating and provided us with a room for December 9th. I hope I will not be charged for the other booking. Overall, a very pleasant experience and I would gladly stay there again-and will in the New Year.

"Just right"
We were just overnight, but it was the last night after two weeks in the country and before we flew out in the afternoon. It was just the right place to settle in. More than that people were so helpful in guiding us to catch up on the details we had to make sure were in place before we left and also the details of just spending our last hours in the city. Very nice.

"Excellent Dublin Center Location"
The O'Callaghan Davenport is well situated for walking to top visitors' sites in Dublin including the Book of Kells, the shopping on Grafton Street, Stephen's Green and the Archaeological Museum. There's a pub just across the street for artisanal brews and pub grub as well as an internet coffee shop with nice pastries. The staff was excellent in assisting with questions, wake-up calls, and arranging the cab to the ferry terminal and airport. There was free wi-fi for guests, which worked well, and we were able to print out our boarding passes and Folklore Dinner reservations through their lobby computer, which was great. It is an older building so has its quirks but it was perfect for us.

"Great location and that's it."
Pros: The bed and pillow was very comfortable. It was a huge difference than other hotels we stayed at. The location was also perfect and near all the major attractions. Cons: During breakfast service, it appeared they were understaffed and overwhelmed. I was brought to a table with no silverware, cups, etc. I had to search for someone 4 different times: once for silverware, then a cup, then coffee, then for a fried egg (as they are by request only). They charge you the price of an individually prepared meal, and give you a dried out buffet. The scones ran out at 8:30am and no new ones were brought out. The staff at the front desk was apathetic. We ordered a taxi for 9am to the airport. The staff asked us to take a seat, then sent him/her away because she did not look to the right to see us sitting there. The bathroom ceiling was brown and paint was chipping. Overall, the only thing you're paying for is the location.

"Nice place close to a lot of action"
The hotel and rooms are in very good condition and are comfortable. There pubs close by if you are not into venturing out and you are quite close to the shopping district (walking distance) and the museums. The staff was fairly knowledgeable, but were quite young and seemed somewhat inexperienced with some matters, but very eager to help. As with most of Ireland, the internet access was moderate to poor, so once again, the staff thought it was OK, but quite lacking compared with U.S. standards. I would definitely stay here again should I find myself in Dublin.

"Great staff - good location"
It is an old hotel and could use some cosmetic touch ups. But the staff is great, the beds are comfortable and the location is pretty good. 10 minute walk into the city center (Grafton St) and right next to Trinity College. There is a great pub (The Gingerman) right next door. It is a solid 3-4 star hotel.

"Very nice hotel, great location, great value"
This is the second time I've stayed at O'Callagan Davenport. I am rating this hotel a '5' not because it's the most luxurious or fancy hotel, but because of the value. You'd have to spend at least twice what I paid (via Expedia special rate) to get a comparable room in a comparable location.

The woman at the front desk was extremely helpful. She noticed that there were 2 reservations for me (my error) and cancelled one of them. She also helped me print out boarding passes for our flight home, and in general was very pleasant and always sincere. I can not remember her name however I feel that she should get a promotion for all that she does for your hotel and is a great reflection on your high standards. I did have a slight problem with the condition of the bathroom. There were several strands of hair in the tub and on the tile walls...very disgusting and perhaps a reflection of the overall cleaning standards of the room.

"A bit of quiet in a bustling city"
The Davenport is an excellent choice for Dublin. The hotel has a very comfortable layout which reduces noise from other rooms. It's a well run hotel with a friendly, efficient staff. It's located on in a quiet neighborhood on Marion Square, and behind Trinity College so it's a short walk to St Stephens Green, Grafton Street. And Temple Bar. It's probably the best 4 star we stayed in over many years of traveling.

Hotel is in a nice area within walking distance of the city center. The Ginger Man pub across the street is a lovely Pub with an upstairs barr we ate at Matt The Thresher for Dinner a five minute walk, great food and decor..make a reservation ,it's popular with locals. The hotel was nice, friendly service, however, the spring loaded wooden doors in the hallway are noisy and slam shut waking us up. "Great location, average hotel"
The hotels.com booking did not include wifi service nor breakfast. The hotel room is old-fashioned and nothing to write home about. The "king" size bed was just two beds pushed together, not exactly the most comfortable. The wake-up call comes from the TV (not the phone) and hard to work via the remote at 5:30 AM. I've received better amenities and comfort from a Holiday Inn. The front desk was very helpful giving us directions to various locations. The location is great and easy to walk to Grafton St, St. Stephen's Green, Temple Bar, etc.

"Would definitely return"
The hotel is charming if a little shabby around the edges. We found this to be acceptable and actually thought it added to the appeal. The location couldn't be better...quiet area but very close to all the action. We were in a junior suite and have never had more walking and luggage space in a hotel room in Europe. "Dublin business"
Great Front Desk staff, always prompt to help. Elevators response is very fast. Buffet Breakfast has the basics, but it's very good.Bathroom sink has separate faucets, cold and hot,..however, hot water is extremely hot (be careful), thus, it would be great if they have a faucet that mixes cold & hot water. Bed super comfy. Philips TV flat screen... but old "slow" model. Wi-Fi is fast once you can get in, sometimes it takes long to sign-up, then system needs to recognize your device, and it could be a lengthy process. Hotel conveniently located close to several pubs and restaurant. Nearby "Il Cafe di Napoli" restaurant is superb with reasonable prices. Hotel is highly recommended for two to three nights stay in downtown Dublin.

This hotel was very nice, and the neighborhood was quiet. The room and bed were very comfortable! The hotel was convenient to galleries, museums, shopping and pubs. Our room was across from a pub that we heard little bit one night but it wasn't too bad. "Location good, watch out for undisclosed charges."
The hotel is a typical old luxury hotel. It's a little shabby at the edges but still a pretty nice building, lovely lobby and very friendly and helpful staff. The beds were nice, the bathroom was very good, the only complaint about the room is the window opened into the interior ventilation shaft so there was a constant drone from the ventilation system and very little sunlight. I'm sure this is a function of getting the discounted room on Expedia, I imagine the full price better rooms are excellent. One thing to watch out for, when we went down to breakfast they asked which room we were in, marked us off the list and made no mention of a charge. I have traveled extensively in Europe, and when this happens, you assume that breakfast is included with the room. Not so what's this place, when I went to check out I noticed that the breakfast for two people was 27 euros, at an exchange rate of 1.3 that makes breakfast $35 ($17.50 each) which is pretty dear indeed.

"Too Hot! Be careful if you get a "rate.""
Room was overheated and we needed to leave the window open to avoid the sauna effect. Be careful if you book at a discount rather then directly through the hotel! We found out upon check-out that breakfast wasn't included because we'd booked at a rate via the web. They also nickel & dimed us on Wifi, which would have been included if we'd paid full freight on the room. Nevertheless, most of the staff was quite nice and the location was great.
