A short guide to Park City

Historic Victorian buildings line Park City’s bustling main street, where ample nightlife can be found for such a small mountain town. Meanwhile, relics of its mining heritage can still be seen near the slopes. Two of Park City’s three ski resorts were used during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Another item that puts the city on the map? The yearly Sundance Film Festival.

We were very pleased with this Hotel. Great location to a Movie Cinema. They had a Thanksgiving buffet. Everything but the dessert was great. The price was a little high for the buffet. But over all it was great. We had a room that opened to the pool I was worried about the noise but it was quiet by 9:30. Overall Great place to stay.

1) Online is said that there was internet access. But what we didn't know until we got to the hotel was that you have to pay $10 a day for it. 2) There were two phones in the room. One didn't work at all and the other one's buttons were jammed in. 3) Pool hours are posted 10-10 and we heard yelling, screaming kids at the pool until 11:00 and then the next morning by 7 am 4) The maid knocked on our door then came in at 8:00 saying "house keeping." 5) The Tv buttons were locked ON the Tv so we weren't able to hook up our DVD player and computer to watch our own movies. 6) The lobby store was closed the entire time, even though the sign said "be back at 6" 7) The Starbucks in the lobby was closed, except when we were leaving. 8) The hotel restaurant WAS exceptional, though and we highly recommend the dinner menu. We were offered a free breakfast, but declined at 9 am because we wanted to get the heck out of there and go home to rest. 9) No continental breaktfast, unless you pay for it. And $7.95 for sausage and eggs is TOO much. 10) I would not recommend this hotel, even though the bedding was comfortable.

We booked here as a stop gap as we could not get in the hotel we really wanted for two days. We always stay "ski-in/ski-out" and this was over a mile from the slopes so did not look good. But what a fantastic service the front desk provide. Your skis are loaded on & off the shuttle and kept over night. The shuttle runs at very convenient times morning and until late in the afternoon. All with a smile. The included breakfast was also superb and dinner excellent value for money. And very cheery barman. Already looking to book for next season.

Overall this is not a bad place to stay at all. Id say its really a bit on the pricey side for what you get. The best part of the stay is the bed which is amazingly comfortable and if you're not planning to spend too much time at the hotel itself and just sleep there - that will suit you just fine. The hotel restaurant, on demand movies and other additions to the bill are very expensive. The fact that there was a bus stop right outside our window that ran till 3am also wasnt ideal to say the least. Overall a decent stay, I was just expecting a little more from a Mariott and for the money.

Pros: Staff-couldn't have been nicer or more helpful Prices-food in the restaurant, room-service, etc... were not your typical "trapped rat" prices that are typical of hotels in ski locations. Cons: Restaurant-way understaffed so long waits for minimal food in the morning which led us to getting to the mountain a little late. Rooms-pretty run down for a Marriott. Beds and Towels-pretty cheap I wouldn't say don't stay at the PC Marriott but I wouldn't raive about it either. Friends down the street at rented condo's had 5x the room, a kitchen, many bedrooms and paid about half of what we paid.

They did upgrade us to an executive suite, if that is what you want to call it, and the first five minutes consisted of us setting a suitcase on the table and the table collapsing. Then we had to listen to the air conditioner drip all night. The place was really old and it needed some upkeep. We had to listen to construction on the Hotel every day also. All in all, I can say my honeymoon could have been better.

The mountain, the hotel and the area were great. There is no need to rent a a car as they have a Marriott shuttle that takes you to the mountains and a free city bus outside the door. The bell staff is very knowledgable and friendly helping us with every aspect of our stay.

The hotel was a good stay for the money. The beds are terrible to sleep on and the maid service was sub-par, but the friendliness of the Front-Desk and other employees made up for them. Overall this was a good stay and I would/will stay there again.
