Unfortunately the weather was a big issue. Our sea view room was lashed by heavy rain and high winds. This was very sad and it resulted in lack of sleep due to the noise.The room was quite small by Marriott standards.The staff were very well trained and grreeted us in all areas very well.

I was extremely disappointed by my stay at this hotel last weekend. All of my issues relate to the restuarant, food service and customer service. Firstly, when I stuggled to order food on the terrace as waiters kept ignoring us, when I did finally get served they got my partner's order wrong which meant that we couldnt eat at the same time. Then later […] on my partner went down to the restuarant who told him he could order a steak into his room, he called room service to be told he couldnt. He then said he would come downstairs and bring it up himself which he thought was appalling. After a number of discussions on the phone about this terrible service they agreed to deliver the steak to the room. When it arrived there were no sauces or cutlery or salt. The waiter took 3 gos to get all of these things in place by which time the food was cold and we sent it back. When I then checked out they had removed the steak but kept the tray charge on the room with absolutely no compensation. The palava kept us an hour late for our appointments and the receptionist simply couldnt care less. I asked to speak to the manager, she said they would call me back to discuss. They have never done so and I am absolutely furious that they have treated repeat customer like myself in this way. I will never stay in this hotel again due to the appalling service especially as i have so much choice from hotels in the same area which actually provide a good level of customer responsiveness. Nice Hotel and in great location but if you want to use the mini bar ask in advace as there will be nothing in it except an overpriced bottle of mineral water. Also watch out for the hidden car parking charges.

Was a nice hotel but parking was a nightmare, very little parking for such a big hotel and then to top it off we had to pay £10 a night for that. Also there was no WIFI in our room just a network cable for a laptop, which you also have to pay an exorbitant amount for. Staff were mostly nice, restaurant staff were very pleasant.

We booked two sea view rooms for our family of four over the Easter weekend. The view of the sea and the beach was spectacular and we could hear the waves from our rooms. The hotel location is overlooking the beach, which is a 5 minute walk downhill or alternatively a short scenic elevator ride. The town centre is a further 5 minutes, via a pleasant […] walk through a park. We paid a supplement to have breakfast included and were pleased with the quality and variety of choices on offer. We made use of the indoor hotel swimming pool and jacuzzi which was clean and well supervised with fresh towels and changing facilities provided. We also booked some spa treatments and can recommend the stone massage and facial treatments...very relaxing. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel with its location, facilities and exceptional staff. Most certainly would stay again. Read more

Lovely hotel for a relaxing weeekend. Breakfast and room service food fantastic. Only small problem was when no twin rooms were available reception questioned how much I had paid for room insisting I had received an upgrade when the room I was in was in fact what I had paid for (except it was a double!)

Me & my wife went for a short weekend away to Bournmouthe. It was our first time there and we Not disappointed, the hotel was great and close to centerly located. Few steps to the beach, 2 streets to the town centre, the breakfast was beautiful every day morning in the hotel. Over all really can't wait to go again.

Other reviewers have commented about the poor check-in procedures at this hotel and I have to agree. First I was going to be charged a room deposit for a booking I had paid in full in advance, and then when I pointed out the error, it took 25 minutes to correct before I finally got my room key. I chose this hotel to because it is very close to the location of a family wedding. I had stayed there a number of times in the past – although that was some decades ago. Staff were helpful and courteous and everything about the hotel was fine until we returned to our room late at night after the wedding. We then found our room was situated too close […] to where an extremely noisy function was taking place and the noise was horrible. The problem is that the structure includes suspended wooden floors and unless soundproofing is first class you end up with both the noise and the vibration of the base beat from the music. This is known to be one of the most unpleasant and distressful forms of noise pollution. I complained and the volume was turned down a little but it did not really help. When the function finally ended the people took a while to leave and were very noisy. As far as I am aware they were not asked to be quiet by hotel staff. (If they were asked they certainly took no notice.) Marriot operate across the world and must have enough expertise to deal effectively with problems like this. My feeling is that Marriot had invested too little in setting up and sound insulating their function rooms – knowing full well what the consequences would be. I would happily have left the hotel and slept in the car in a layby in the countryside but my car was boxed-in by several cars. I am sure the cars could have been moved but that it would have taken a while to extricate my car no matter how efficiently it might have been managed. It is not acceptable to charge £10.00 per night and then have to faff about while cars are manoeuvred in order to be able to simply drive away. My view is that the on-site car park is overpriced and inadequate. We had looked forward to a refreshing swim in the pool in the morning but felt too jaded after a lousy night. Excellent Hotel in the main building - sadly we were in an 'annexe' across the car park (out of the main buidling - thankfully we missed the rain!!). Room was very good apart from a cracked basin in the bathroom, however it was very comfortable and there was no noise. The staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. Overall very good.

Reception and breakroom staff were wonderful. But that was the end. The bar staff were all too busy, and never brought drinks onto the Terrace. Even if you had the full breakfast the hotel charged extra for a Latte! I have stayed at better Marriotts!!
