Mission Valley Resort - San Diego

The hotel is at the edge of mission valley so it looks like its in the middle of nowhere, everything is at a distance. The guy in the front desk was very friendly and nice he upgraded my room because it was my birthday, very nice of him. The rooms are old! The door was real hard to both close and open even with our room key. There were nasty brown stains […] on the roof, the bathroom and shower were very scratched and old. The balcony window looked like someone previously broke into the room because the screen was broken and pulled off. You can hear everything in other rooms, kids running around and screaming all day and night. Doors being tossed loudly all day and night as well. The room carpet, let's just say I was scared to take off my shoes, the bed was just re made from previous guest you could clearly see there was someone sleeping there a couple minutes before we showed up. However the front desk representatives did not greet us as I walked in, and they had no smiles. "Resort" is definitely NOT what I would call this place! The clerk at check-in was trying to get the status of two specific rooms while she checked us in - presumably for us - even though we didn't get there til around 4:30 (well after check-in time of 3:00), then we didn't even get assigned one of the rooms she was working on. The other clerk got the […] folks behind us checked in and on thier way waaay before our clerk got us checked in. We go to the the NON-Smoking room assigned to us, which REAKED of cigarettes - we opened all the windows to let it air out (some of which did not have screens on them) - should have gone straight back to office to get another room, but didn't. The carpet had an iron burn in it; the room itself was VERY tiny; there was only ONE set of towels in the bathroom, for a room that has 2 beds, I would have thought at least 2 sets of towels would have been the standard, however, the next morning we left a note for more towels, which they did provide. The entire hotel looked like it needed to be renovated. The only positive thing about this hotel is it's location - which, being in Hotel Circle, there are PLENTY of other hotels we will be trying instead for our next visit. Read more

The maintenance is poor. Upon arriving in my room three of the light fixtures were not working nor was the remote for the TV. They did send a maintenance person right away who replaced bulbs in two fixtures. Later I discovered the bathroom floor was wet due to a slow leak from the plumbing.

Really enjoyed my stay. Close to Old Town Mission, restaurants, cafes and Balboa Park. Although the walls were not sound proof, it was peaceful at night. This was a great hotel for what it is. Liked that they had a heated pool and Jacuzzi. Would definitely stay here again.

The only good thing about the room was the location. Next time I'll spend more to get a clean room. The carpet looked like it had never been cleaned. The dirt could be seen piled up in the corners and the room smelled of dirty socks. We were out of the room most of the day so we wouldn't have to spend any additional time in the room.

First room wasn't cleaned at all then they over me to a different room that had two beds . I pulled back the first sheet and the sheets were dirty so I slept in the other bed. The shower wasn't very clean either.

The furnishings were newer but every hinge on the armoire the tv was in was broken. A fresh coat of paint would do wonders for the room. It was a bit cramped, but we did have two adults a child and toddler. I would stay in the hotel again, but I don't know if I'd recommend it. Our nn smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke. It took the desk over an hour to find us another room. In contrast the coffee shop had outstanding service. Dining with 2 small children can be a trial, but the servers went out of their way to accomadate our needs, and went above and beyond to cater to our children

The doors of other rooms slammed shut loudly every time someone got in and out of the rooms. We stayed in a first-floor room. Either the people in the room above us have lead-foot, or the ceilings were made of thin plywood. The hotel was ok. The checkin process simple. The room was smelly and had water on the rug. The internet did not work, even after reporting it to the front desk and they claimed they're "rebooting" the router. It looks like it was never set up for internet. There was a computer near the front desk that had no connection either.

Perfect location easy to get in and out. Parking was free. Rooms were clean but shabby. There was a window in the room that wasn't covered so it got bright in the room. The free Internet didn't work at all while we were there. Good deal for the price.

The ad/pictures for this hotel are extremely misleading!!! This hotel is very, very old and the quality of the rooms is poor!!! I'm talking broken chair, peeling paint, make you check for bed bugs poor. The room had a 20-something inch old box TV with horrible reception. My husband & I were in San Diego for a sporting event for our son, and now that […] I know how the area is set up, we could have stayed at any of the hotels located on Hotel Circle North or Hotel Circle South, and been in the same vicinity, it's basically a loop that runs north & south of the freeway. I chose this hotel because it was the closest to where my son was staying, Crowne Plaza (which is a beautiful hotel). I took extra blankets for my son to make a bed on the floor since he was rooming with three other boys, but we ended up using them to put on top of our bed, didn't even get under the blankets, that's how bad this hotel is. Not to mention the questionable looking people coming & going at all hours. And I can't forget the nasty stain on the carpet, my son said it looked like someone had died there! I'm not joking. Was able to use my unemployment card at least. This info was NOT listed on http://hotel.com . workers were rude & short with me. I paid the same rate for a hotel down the road days prior. Unfortunately they no longer had a room available when me and my family decided to extend our vacation. I wish I would've done more research prior to this booking. The large room number was missing from the door which was a good indicator of what was to be expected inside. The ottoman had a […] large dark stain. The bathroom was dingy, rusty and neglected. My family and I actually passed on baths/showers because of the condition of the tub. I used one of the glasses in room and when I filled it with water the cup filled with soap bubbles due to poor rinsing. The TV was older which would've been ok if it wasn't set at a blaring volume each time it was turned on. The menu function did not work, the channel selection was limited and the reception was horrible.
