GOOD THANKS FOR EVERYTHING
"First trip to Toronto"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
It was a great experience. We arrived a bit early (almost 7am!) and the rep was kind enough to let us checked in (we drove 10hours from washington D.C.!!) This is a big bonus! The hotel rooms were clean and nice. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The gym, although small, suited our needs. Wish there is an indoor pool since it's ~30 degree out... The front desk was courteous when I called to inquire about some liquor availability, but the bartender hung up on me while I asked my friends which would they like. Bartenders are pleasant in person. Room service did a good job of cleaning while leaving things undisturbed. A bit of a drive (~20min no traffic) to downtown but not too bad and I expected this when I looked it up on the map. Only has 2 working luggage carts. Wish wifi is free in-room, not just front lobby. Great restaurants across the streets.

"Hotel Victoria - a little tired."
tired hotel - suites are positioned next to elevator. would not stay again.
"good location for my plans"
great fun. near a few of the better restaurants - (avoiding the high sodium, carbs located everywhere). Very decent reasonable breakfast/lunch restaurant off lobby.
"Great price and location"
Excellent location for those wanting to be in downtown and close to Union Station as well (I took the train in to Toronto, so this was a short walk from the station). My room was exceedingly small, but adequate for the two nights I was there. Free wifi is a big plus. Will definitely stay there again
"clean, conveniently located, but cozy in a bad way"
great, friendly staff, and the room was always clean, but we found that the room size was not enough space for two people during our four-day stay. limited bathroom shelf space made it tough. if you were only staying overnight, i would recommend this hotel, but only then. this hotel is very conveniently located near the king street metro station, and […] we were able to take a 5 minute walk to the air canada center. yonge/dundas square is about a 10 minute walk, as is, of course, eaton place, then. "Great Value and Location!"
The Hotel Victoria is a wonderful hotel. Apparently, its the 2nd oldest hotel in Toronto, but it's definitely been up-dated. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any needs and questions. The rooms can be a little small, but for the price and location of the hotel I cannot complain. The only problem is the standard twin single room. The beds […] were too small. Read more
"Great hotel, elevator... not so much."
The elevator is slow, gets stuck and there's only one in the entire building. It mires the entire hotel experience. I'd steer clear if you have a choice.
"Hotel Victoria - Great Location!"
Great price at a wonderful location. A few block walk from all the major attractions in Toronto. Recently reno'ed, the rooms are neat. This small hotel has some history as well. The only shortcoming is the lack of parking. The lot I was directed to was a muni lot about 5 blocks away. Do what we did.. Park your car and leave it there until your stay […] is done! Read more

"Great if you just need a place to sleep"
I chose the Hotel Victoria because it was close to my conference hotel and a lot less expensive. It worked great for me, since I just needed a place to do a little work, shower, and sleep. The room was clean and quiet, the shower was good, the flatscreen TV was big, and I appreciated the free wifi. The bed was comfy and a separate heating unit kept […] the cold out. So, as I think about it, I guess it was pretty great. I will say that my room was small, good enough for one person but would have been close quarters for two. Maybe they have larger rooms for couples, I don't know. Read more

"Great Value"
Small rooms and limited amenities but the rooms are extremely nice, the location is prime time and the price is a steal.
"Don't stay here for business"
Hotel is in a pretty central downtown location, and the wi-fi is nice if you need to stay in touch. Bathroom is clean, although a little small. Possibly good for touristing, not so good for business. Which brings me to my next point -- the room is tiny in general. The bed took up most of the room, which is not so bad if you are just one person, but […] I can't imagine staying here if you are more than one (or two small people) and actually spending time in the room. The room had two windows, but they both faced walls, so there was very little natural light in there. Additionally, climate control was pretty ancient. The radiators are old which makes the air EXTREMELY dry and difficult to sleep. The room very quickly gets cold when its turned off. Another gripe, which is if you plan to use a car in Toronto, is that there is no on-site parking and the location of the hotel is not most convenient for driving around. If you plan to do some driving around the area, do not stay there. Overall a mediocre experience. I might consider staying here for sightseeing, but definitely not if I need a good night's sleep. "Needs some fine tuning"
Location is great! We probably stayed in the smallest room, so keep that in mind with this review. Our room was on the second floor and faced the street. VERY noisy. Thankfully we did have an airconditioner that was VERY loud itself - actually helped us sleep. It got very cool in the room, so that was a plus as well. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. […] The wallpaper is peeling everywhere in the bathroom - completely torn in other places. The restaurant was very good for breakfast although a tad pricey. I probably wouldn't recommend. There are just to many other great hotels nearby. Read more

"right down town!"
Highly recommend this hotel! Very clean. Easily accessible to all Yonge St attractions. Great restaurant located on site. Rooms very clean/modern decor. Parking is off-site, a bit apprehensive about this feature, however it wasn't that bad.

"Very nice hotel in business district"
This hotel is very nicely furnished throughout. Our first room, however, was located on a light well and was quite dark. In fact, only two rooms per floor (out of 6 or so) face the street. The staff was quite cooperative in moving us to a street-side room after the first night. This resulted in a very enjoyable stay.

"convenient location, uncomfortable bed"
The room is basically clean and well-organized. But bathing materials are not changed new everyday. Bed mattress is super soft, unbearable. I just sleep on the floor instead of in bed. Quiet, good temperature, but easy to get noice from out of door, though I don't very much care. Not bright, space is also limited, not good for lots of luggages. Charge […] for local phones. Good to everywhere for whatever around, and convenient to take subway, taxi, and walk. Read more
"Great staff and location"
Stay here every time I come to Toronto. Recent renovation is a great upgrade.
"Hotel Victoria on Yonge Street"
I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling for either business or pleasure. Excellent value and upscale decor.
"Hotel Victoria in Toronto - fantastic!"
We loved everything about this hotel! We stayed in a deluxe king room and it was fantastic. Normally when staying in a hotel, we can't wait to get home to our own bed, but not this time ... so comfy! The service was great and the room was clean. As for location, we were within walking distance to pretty much everything that we wanted, and there's a […] subway station right around the corner for those trips that are a little further out. The hotel staff was helpful in giving directions for the subway, bus & trolley systems (this was our first time in Toronto) - it was all super easy and super convenient. Would definitely stay here again! Read more
"Victoria Hotel-"
This hotel was nice and clean---and the location was great. The downside of staying here is that the front desk is clueless about the surrounding area. We a had an oversized vehicle and therefore could not park in a garage we needed a surface lot- we called ahead to find out how we should proceed- we were told that they would direct us to a nearby surface […] lot and the charge would be the same as the garage. This was inacurrate. We also needed some laundry (we had been travelling for 2 weeks)--this hotel has no way (wither through send out or in house) of getting laundry done, they tried to send me to a nearby laundry service- it turned out to only be a dry cleaners- no other services available. The front desk had mutliple employees who were difficult to understand. The room was fine and quite large for a city hotel, it is centrally located so very convenient for tourist. Make sure you know exactly were you are going and don't need any help from the front desk. Read more
"Hotel Victoria in Toronto - Beware Verizon users"
You can't beat the location - right near the subway, trolleys, and within walking distance to many sites. The hotel was nice enough, no complaints with my room. Beware if you're a verizon cell phone user, there is no coverage except for in the hotel lobby. The hotel staff told me this was normal for verizon users. I couldn't use my phone in my room. The […] hotel internet service also went out. After being patient for a day of no phone and no internet, I couldn't take any more. The hotel was nice enough to let me check out that evening and try to find another hotel so that I could have internet access. Actually, they found a hotel for me nearby at a good rate. The other hotel was pretty uncomfortable, so all -in-all it was an annoying experience. But the Hotel Victoria staff did all they could. All of the staff I encountered were helpful, nice, and professional. Read more

"Hotel Victoria-Toronto, ON, Canada"
The staff was professional, friendly and extremely efficient. Not only were they responsive to my requests, but I also observed them being of assistance to numerous guests. The hotel is reminiscent of a boutique hotel one might expect to find on Ille St. Louis in downtown Paris. WOuld gladly stay there on subsequent visits.
"Victoria Hotel Toronto"
Generally fine. Lobby computer very slow and didn't work at all with various websites, including the one for my email. Shower doors allow a lot of water out. Wallpaper under the shower door was peeling as a result.
"Poor condition, loud street noise, & small beds"
Checked in to the Hotel Victoria yesterday. We made a reservation for a queen bed. However, we were given a very small room with at most a full size bed. When calling down to the desk we were informed that all rooms have either twin, queen or king beds. At one point, Peter the hotel manager, said it was a "euro queen". So far, when compared to the boutique […] Chezz Swann in Montreal, the Hotel Victoria pails in comparison across the board, from customer service to shoddy upkeep of the common areas. My recommendation would be that you stay elsewhere in Toronto. Read more
"Hotel Victoria, Great Location, Great Hotel"
Perfect location for all downtown attractions and located steps from street cars and subways. Small, but nice rooms are comfortable—especially the bed—and affordable. Desk staff and housekeeping were nice and helpful. If you're in Toronto to see the city, this hotel puts you right in the heart of the city for a good price.

"great location"
location was excellent. could easily walk to metro convention centre for a trade show, as well as the rogers centre to see a jay's game. hotel is right in the middle of everything. only two complaints - no inroom safe, and the towels are like sandpaper. beyond that, it's a great stay!
Beautiful room, though very small. Quite comfortable bed, very clean overall. If you drive in, there is no parking nearby that we could find. I was puzzled by the fact that there were steps leading to the door which makes it a challenge to bring in luggage.
"Hotel Victoria - Toronto"
We booked 2 rooms for 2 couples. Our room - a single queen-size bed - was quite small. The other room with 2 queen-size beds was spacious. The hotel had no eating facilities of its own - but had a "built-in" commercial breakfast and lunch diner. So there was a separate billing for breakfast. The hotel was right on a downtown main street, with no pull-in […] to unload. Parking was commercial, and 7 minutes walk away. There was a good pub right across the road. It was conveniently close to the sub-way, and a short walk from the theatre we had tickets for. It suited our purpose. Read more
"Hotel Victoria: Toronto"
This was my first visit to the Hotel Victoria and I was very pleased. Check-in was very easy and the staff was helpful. The room was very pleasant and the beds were extremely comfortable. The wireless didn't work in our room. We were told that renovations are going on in the hotel and some of the access points were not active. We were also told that […] within the year, the entire hotel would be renovated and should be gorgeous! I thought it was reasonably priced. It is in downtown Toronto-across from the Toronto Stock Exchange. Read more
"Pretty primitive"
My room was the size of a shoebox and there wasn't a scrap of food to be purchased on the premises, not even a snack machine.

"Why pay 5 Star prices for 5 Star Location?"
Hotel Victoria gave my Italian colleague and me everything we wanted in a hotel: deluxe, comfortable, good-sized rooms with first class baths and appointments. Nice toiletries and towels in the best downtown location, Steps away from Wellington with a huge choice of trendy restaurants. Don't miss Lucien (recommended by the young concierge and rightfully […] so) with fabulous 5 star menu from local ingredients and excellent wine list). But there were so many other choices available that we were sorry we had only one night in Toronto. The long and the short of it was that Hotel Victoria offers 5 star location and perfect comfort for 3 star prices. Why look elsewhere? Read more

"Small but homely"
The room itself was small, but it didn't have the typical cold feeling of a hotel room. It was almost like staying as a guest in someone's home - it was a unique room. I would stay again.
"Hotel Victoria a good location"
Great location with helpful staff. Toronto sights within easy walking or street car distance. No parking but there is a public lot nearby that isn't too expensive.

"A hotel built to Euopean- early 20th century"
I was expecting disappointment when I read the last reviews stating that the Hotel was undergoing renovation. When I arrived on the 12th of July and stayed until the 20th, everything had changed. If you are not to fussy about all the modern day conviences and need a hotel that is right in the heart of Toronto this is the one. the hotel was built in […] 1903, and is closer to European standards than American. The staff is friendly and the hotel is smoke free. But don't even think that you are going to get spectacular views of the Toronto sky jine. but if you want easy access to the St Lawrence Market, Union Station, CN Tower, Hockey hall of Fame etc etc. This is the place to stay. The Harborfront once you get to know the lay of the land is a short ten minute walk. Rogers Centre and the CN Tower fifteen max. You have access to all the major TTC lines. the Yonge, Spadina, 501, 504 are a few short blocks away. You can even walk to union station pick up VIA., ON or Go. as well as the 509 and 510 trolley lines. Thjeir are plent of eating establishment nearby. If you love beer go visit the beer bistro a two block walk on King street Don't forget this is a early 20th century hotel built to European standards. Once you can accept that. Then everything else becomes easy. Read more
